Hello, my name is Rachel and I'm an aspiring author. However if I'm honest I've only finished one story and it was the only time I had met my writing goal and beyond for the NANOWRIMO. I am always writing be it fanfiction or original work.

Resources For Writing Characters With ADHD
This is a really common question I receive. And I usually put off answering it, because it’s so lengthy and complex.
The simple truth is, everyone with ADHD is different. Professors and acquaintances have suggested I try medication, but anyone who knows me well understands that my ADHD symptoms are at the core of who I am. I attribute a lot of my creativity to the constant roller coaster of thoughts, ideas, and impulses going through my head. For some people, however, ADHD symptoms are life-destroying, and medication is a saving grace. Those people are just as valid.
So, I’ve decided it’s high time I put together some of my favorite resources. I tried to avoid any clinical resources by people without ADHD, instead lending the spotlight to the real experts: people who actually live with ADHD.
More resources to come, and happy writing!

I used to be… hesitant, about prophesy working as a plot device in fantasy — but over the years I‘ve come to really appreciate what it can do for a story when done well

Please be gentle with your first drafts; they are the way they are because this is the first time you’ve ever written those scenes, chapters, etc. Some concepts you thought of literally moments ago. Of course they’re not going to be perfect or come out exactly the way you wanted. There will always be more time to perfect them, though, so just keep writing and have as much fun as you can!

Just in case you needed to hear this today…
Your skill and talent at writing is not measured by your follower count, or how many notes you get!
Even if your OCs don’t seem popular, that does not make them bad!
Didn’t get as many comments as you hoped? That just means that you haven’t found your audience yet! You’ll find them someday!
Just because your posts didn’t get the attention they deserve, they’re still worth it!
I know it can be discouraging to feel like you’re shouting into an empty void, but please remember that you are not defined by any of these things! It’s natural and understandable that you want people to read them, but whether they get attention or not, your WIPs and your OCs are absolutely amazing. You put in so much time, effort and love into them, and you deserve to be proud of that.
And you know what?
I’m proud of you too! You’re doing awesome!

My worst fear about writing this book is ppl liking it and the characters and wanting to know more about them like their birthdays and stuff like that cuz I just don’t know. For all intents and purposes they just spawned into existence. Pls don’t ask me what the main characters zodiac signs are cuz idk.

GOOD GRAMMAR DOES NOT A WRITER MAKE.
“But I can’t like, be a real writer, I suck at grammar.”
I’ve heard that way too many times. Yes, grammar is definetely an important part of writing (especially in a finished product), but that’s all it is, one part. As an early writer, please do not let it discourage you. Here’s why.
-
Impeccable grammar has almost nothing do with with good writing.
-
There are a million other things that are important for clear communication of language. Voice, clarity, concision, creativity, accuracy. Those things all develop over time. Nobody reads for grammar, people read for story.
This is not to say that grammar doesn’t matter, or will never matter. Grammar is important, and it eventually can determine the proffessionalism of your work. But it is NOT a prerequisite to starting writing as a craft!Grammar develops, and it will improve the more you read, and the more you write.
TLDR: Start with ideas, stories that you’re passionate about. Worry about split inifinitives and semicolons later.
