So Glad I tried Polar!

So many of you know, I've been working in health & fitness for some years now. Some how I've managed to do it without ever trying a Heart rate monitor! All that has changed thanks to the good folks of Polar USA.  I've been using the Polar FT40 for about a month now and I Love it! 
The way it works is you wear a strap around the chest.  In the middle of the strap are sensors which should placed over the chest to track your heart rate.  The watch picks up a signal from the sensor from the strap and its time to sweat!! I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the watch.  I also love that it has a backlight, as I love to run at night.

There are countless benefits to training with a heart rate monitor (HRM). I typically use it just to monitor my level of intensity during a workout. If I'm out for a run it allows me to see how much effort I'm putting into it.  At the end you get a great break down of several things. The watch will let you know how many calories you burned, how long the workout lasted, how much time was spent actually burning calories, and lists your minimum/maximum heart rates.  The best part is that it saves your past workouts.  This comes in handy when its time to track your progress.

It's true what they say, Ignorance is Bliss.  Of course safety also comes in to play.  It is important to know if your heart rate is too high while training.  You'll need to know when to pull back a little.  Safety first friends!
Now that I know how successful my workouts can be, I won't settle for anything but awesome!!

The Bind
Today I was finally able to go into a bind. I haven't been practicing yoga too long so it was a HUGE accomplishment for me. There were others doing seemingly impossible things but for me, the bind was plenty! I also received my first compliment from a teacher today. Again, it might not seem like much but for me....monumental. The quote was "oh, excellent expression" I guess the take away is, be humble & accepting. Make your practice your own while enjoying every breath! I feel great!

I've learned that just when you think things are great, life may test you! Some tests are tougher than others. Life has its ups & downs but we are strong. It's important to remember who you are. It's important to remember what you're capable of. Stray true to yourself and to HIS vision. Try not to measure the test in time but in progress. I hope your week is great! Conquer!!
