how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)

there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~

I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first 

url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order

url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes 

url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc

url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly 

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant) 

the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog! 

caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks. 

if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else

if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)

And I think the bullet could also be an agreed upon item that could mean "its not safe for us."

That night in 1941, after nearly being caught by Hell, they put this into work. Agree upon a code, a scenario. A way to talk so that others didn't know.

I think most of that exchange from when Crowley put on his sunglasses forward is in code starting at "do you hear that?"

Aziraphale's response to that question is genuine frustration like he's confused why hes being asked right now. Then Crowley says "no Nightingales" and Aziraphale gets serious. Crowley goes into US which I think is uncoded and then the kiss (and i believe Neil has said it wasn't a romantic kiss) Aziraphale realizes what's in his mouth. Is devastated not only by the Kiss and what it could represent but also what it DOES represent.

This is their nuclear option. Passing the bullet means "its not safe to talk, we aren't safe. I trust you, you trust me. But we can't be seen together right now."

So Aziraphale responds with "I forgive you" which is their agreed upon response of not only understanding but goodbye.

And Crowley responds with "don't bother" for the same reason.

And it's set up like this to look like a fight so that any snooping party thinks they are 'breaking up' their agreement/ friendship.

I'm not well. This is my new top theory.

To be perfectly honest, it is so rare in the rough comic book industry to be working with people who prioritize your well being over the deadline, I burst into tears when the team backed me up.

Colleen's health comes first, and I hope she knows just how loved and respected she is. I'm honestly relieved she has a less punishing schedule now. Rest and taking care of herself is important.

We can be sad and disappointed, that's normal. Let's try to be understanding and keep it positive, however! Delays happen, we are still getting it. More time spent on a project like this that is a labor of love makes it all the more special.

Choose kindness.

Important update on the Good Omens graphic novel: publication is being pushed back from Summer 2024 to Spring 2025. We have outlined the reasoning and timelines more fully over on our Kickstarter.

We understand any delay will be disappointing, but during this time we will be continuing to work as hard as we can to ensure all elements from the campaign are worthy of Aziraphale and Crowley's tale, and worth the wait for readers.

I've been rolling around in Good Omens thoughts again and a gifset made something jump out at me.

This is where the Metatron is going to come undone. He's got the same binary thinking as Heaven. Good or bad. Heaven or hell. Coffee or death. So predictable.

It reminded me of the scene in S1 when Aziraphale is confronted by the angels and they tell him "it's time to choose a side" and this is where it gets chewy and delicious.

Aziraphale points out "there obviously has to be two sides. That's the whole point, so people can make choices. That's what being human means - choices, but that's for them. Our job as angels should be to keep all this working so they can make choices".

He's already arguing for humanity all the way through S1, which is a problem, but it's something he's done consistently. Not questioning. Very much, not questioning. Just... offering suggestions. So this isn't news. He's even made these kind of suggestions to the Metatron before, so not new.

At the end of S1, Crowley points out that he thinks the real 'big one' is coming "Heaven and Hell against humanity". Aziraphale has been sitting with that knowledge for years. He and Crowley have been dancing on the edge of disaster with Heaven and Hell turning up whenever they wanted, invading their space, demanding their time and compliance even though they are seen as rogue agents.

Everything in S2 is Aziraphale trying to maintain the veneer of everything is fine while still dealing with the terror of it all falling apart. The "or death" has been hanging over them the whole time. He saw the attempted execution. He's been told by Heaven that Crowley is under threat.

But the thing about Aziraphale is that he never ever does the predictable thing. Yes, he agreed to go back to Heaven. Yes, the Metatron leveraged Crowley's safety against him to guarantee it. The statement of "I don't want to go back to Heaven" turning around as soon as Crowley's safety is brought into it. Yes, he'll be the Archangel.

But this is the angel who gave away his flaming sword and lied to God's face. This is the angel who interfered in a bet between God and Satan to save the lives of three children. This is the angel who collaborated with a demon so they could have more down time. This is the angel who was swayed towards saving the world because he loves his life there and all his favourite foods and music and indulgences. This is the angel who flipped the bird and dive-bombed out of Heaven to possess a medium and fly a scooter to the end of the world.

Whatever the Metatron thinks he's done by separating Crowley and Aziraphale, he has no idea what he's unleashed. Crowley's bee metaphor comes to mind here. Angels are fiercely protective of Heaven but once you're inside? Well, that's another story. Aziraphale may look like a bee, but he hasn't been a bee for a long, long time. They knew it at his trial.

And Aziraphale can't say he didn't warn them:

"So you're probably thinking if he can do this, I wonder what else he can do and very, very soon, you're all going to get the chance to find out"

Heaven's got a big storm coming and they let it right in through the front door.

The thing I love about opening Tumblr each morning is finding answered Asks from Neil Gaiman where someone is like:

"Hey Mr. Gaiman! I know you're busy but could we have a small spoiler from the Season 3 script? Thank you and have a good day!"

And Neil, with his glorious wit just replying with something like:

I know I know. But I haven't been able to draw in a hot minute and I'm just so proud of her 💜

I couldn't just leave fem Crowley floating there so I did what i don't normally do and changed her after publishing her. I went in and added clouds and the stars that she loves. I also fixed the glow of her halo.

I also added two stars, shining brightly, so close together that they seem one. She can be seen staring wistfully at them, while drinking her whiskey (which she likes neat, thanks Hozier for the song "Too Sweet").

I hope this can be seen as an improvement to the piece over all.
