Hi, welcome to my blog! I’m hoping this post will make up for my absence on the blog. This post accompanies my newest video in YouTube: My Top 3 Favourite Books.
3. Miguel Street by: V. S. Naipaul This book centres around the lives people living on Miguel Street. The book essentially talks about the demise of ever single on of these characters, except for the narrator of the book (who remains nameless). Their demise is brought from the very thing they love or want the most, however the narrator is able to survive, he is not destroyed. He (with the help of his mother) is able to leave Miguel Street and become something more. I believe the narrator’s character is a look into the author life when he left his home country.
I recommend this book to everyone because it is very relatable; everyone will find someone or something to relate in it.
2. To Kill A Mocking Bird, by: Harper Lee The books is about two brothers and sister and their dad, Atticus Finch, a lawyer defending a black man wrongfully accused rape in the 1930s, in Alabama. Atticus is able to build up a pretty great case for Tom, however he is not able to win the case. In the process Atticus humiliates ‘rapped’ girls father, who vows to gun for this family and end up hurting Jem (Atticus’ son).
This is was the first (and for a long time only) publication by Harper Lee; this book teaching you a lot about life, living, and morals.
1. The Catcher in the Rye, by: J. D. Salinger I first read this book back in 2010, to this day I love it very much! It is based on only 3 days of Holden’s life, right after school he has been expelled from school. He has these little encounters with a lot of different people, but none of those encounters seem to resonate with him. The only people he was able to establish a relationship with was his sister. The book end with him giving the readers a glimpse of what his life in the future would look like.
It is a very relatable book; anyone who’s ever been an outsider will understand this book to a tee.
Honourable Mention Human of New York Stories, by: Brandon Stanton This book is great because you are not obligated to read it cover to cover, you could open to a page, read the story and be content.
Thank you so much for reading this as well as watching the video!
