Been severely sick since Thursday. My boss came to work for several days with undiagnosed walking pneumonia and my chronic asthma makes me very vulnerable to respiratory illnesses. I went to the doctor within days and it hadn't developed into pneumonia yet, but I already had fluid in my lungs and viral ulcers in my throat. She kept me home for a few days and promised me I'd get worse before I'd improve, and gave me antibiotics AND another round of steroids. I did get a LOT worse and couldn't even sleep propped up, I'd just choke on everything trying to force it's way out of my lungs. I lived on Outshine bars and Powerade Zero for days. I haven't been this sick in literally, years. My first real food again was Cajun garlic tuna steaks and steamed rice late Monday night. Going back to work tonight was rough because I'm still easily winded, but I made it. I only had about 1000kcal because too much food was making me sick. This one was really rough, guys. Mom @enchantedcrystalvibrations was there with lots of extra Powerade and medicine and it seriously is helping so much. The Mucinex she brought me gave me new life, I feel closer to human again. Small grocery haul and life update. Grocery haul: Iced coffee that I mix with almond milk, kombucha, a salad kit, hard boiled eggs for my packed lunches, parmesan, riced cauliflower, tilapia, grapes, breakfast nourish bowls. A friend turned me on to the breakfast bowls. Just add egg and microwave, and they're less than 400calb for the entire meal including egg. I'm always always always looking for fast and healthy breakfasts that require minimal cooking because I'm such a drag ass when I first wake up. Life update: My chronic asthma and allergies are severely bringing me down. I'm currently on a round of Prednisone to help combat the fluid in my lungs, because my inhaler isn't working at all at this time. Spring is honestly the fucking worst for me. So much pollen and cottonwood, and the constant change in temp and humidity. I'm miserable. I'm completely sedentary right now because I'm tired and oxygen deprived. I can probably try harder, but I've got to be honest with you all. I'm just not being active. Last night's grocery cart. There was a great sale on frozen fish so I stocked up on Cod and Tuna steaks. Bananas, orange and red cherry tomatoes, Chobani Greek yogurt with fruit, turkey sausage patties for breakfast, hummus and pita bread (to go with raw veggies), and some pepper jack string cheese. Odds and ends I needed to round out what I've already got. I have to pack cold lunches for work unless I'm willing to order in, and that's rarely healthy. I Would Like To Propose a New Workout Called the Lil Jon, which would consist of the following:
1. Window Washers
For this exercise, you are going to get low to the floor, in a plank position. Your hands should be planted under your shoulders, with your back straight, core tight, and feet hip width apart. You are going to lift up one leg, keeping it straight and parallel to the floor. Bring the leg forward until it is adjacent to your hips, and then tap it gently on the floor. Return the leg to its starting position and repeat on the other side.
Complete 3 sets, 15 reps each.
2. Wall Sit
Find a wall and put your back against it, planting your feet hip width apart. Bend your knees and lower your butt until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Tighten your core and keep your back straight against the wall.
Complete 3 sets, 60 seconds each.
Note: by now the sweat should be starting to drip. If it鈥檚 not, then you need to increase the intensity of your workout by adding in extra reps or completing an extra set of each exercise.
3. Medicine Ball Crunches
Lie on your back with your legs pointing straight up at the ceiling. Hold the medicine ball in both hands, with your arms raised over your head. Keeping your arms straight, lift the ball as you crunch upwards, and touch it to your ankles. Return to your starting position and tap the ball on the ground above your head before repeating the excercise.
Complete 3 set, 15 reps each.
4. Bear Crawls
Place your hands and feet on the floor, bending at the waist so your butt is sticking up in the air. Try to keep your heels flat on the floor and your arms straight. Crawl forward until you reach your stopping point, rest for a moment and then crawl back.
Complete 4 sets, 15 yards each.
Remember, you can always modify these exercises to be harder or easier based on your personal needs and abilities.
