(I'll turn this into a small headcanon post. You know how Paimon asked Capitano how he eats with his mask on, and seemingly he ignored her? Well...what if he kind of answered her question by removing the helmet? He...takes it off when he eats. Which could also be why Capitano joined the campfire late in Ororon's character story when they were drinking, because Capitano probably eats alone to prevent people from seeing his face.)

Under the Mask (Capitano)

This post contains spoilers for the most recent archon quest, Natlan, and Capitano.

FIRST OFF, making the disclaimer I'm a fan of "faceless" Capitano, as hiding his face kind of ups the "horrific" factor. That said, I'm an artist and I want to draw the beloved as accurately as possible...and I can't do that if I can't see his face!

So, I decided to do some digging to try and figure it out what it looks like. We do have SOME visual clues and descriptions to give us an idea in the game, so this is what I based it off of.

First, looking at Capitano himself, we can clearly see that his facial features are still intact (his nose/lips by the silhouette), which means his nose and lips haven't decayed in the way a corpse's would.

(Let's set aside how silly his mask is, the power of anime makes him able to see+obscures his entire face from view)

So...how disfigured is he, to the point it makes Traveler make a face like this?

Well...he's not a hillichurl. He seems to be a pure-blooded Khaenri'ahn, which would make his decay similar to Dainslief and Pierro.

However, there's really nothing that intimidating about this.

But, Capitano's decay is far more advanced than Dainslief's. We know purebloods don't become Hillichurls, but I thought perhaps the curse was similar. Hillichurls are described as having skin covered in ulcers...which immediately made me think of Deadpool of all things.

I looked up images of Deadpool (from the comics, not the live action), and in some renditions of his face, his nose and lips are still intact (albeit still scarred).

I originally was going to just put lines on top of the mottled skin kind of just like markings on Dain's arm, but then I got the idea to make them split apart, sort of like cracks. Like the ulcers in his skin are slowly breaking apart, letting abyssal energy out of his body, since his flesh literally cannot contain his immortal soul. Maybe I'll work on it more visually, because the cracks and open sores could reveal a sparkly, glowy skeleton or something cool underneath...

I also thought maybe the cracks look like Ronova?

Anyway take my offering, I tried.

Kimetsu Academy AU! Hanako is a 3rd year transfer student who joins Gyutaro and Shinobu's class.

Read right to left cuz I'm a weeb. This is the first time coloring in a full manga page. I didn't like it that much but meh...it also had over 200 layers I'm never doing all four pages on the same document again 💀

Some drawings of my OC Hanako Fujioka. In the original timeline, she was sold to a brothel to pay off her father's debt. She was extremely beautiful and was set to be a high ranking courtesan. Before she got her first customer, she poured boiling hot tea on her face, resulting in horrific burns, and ruining her worth to the brothel. They were furious with her and punished her, forcing her to work as a servant to the oiran at the brothel and not allowing her to show her face.

One day, Hanako stopped Daki from abusing a young trainee girl. This enraged Daki to the point she decided it would be fun to feed her to Gyutaro. Daki took her and threw her into the underground storage cave, and her brother was lurking there looking for a meal.

Gyutaro initially mocked Hanako for being beautiful, but was shocked when he saw the half of her face that was obscured by her hair. He asked her what happened. When she told him, he was impressed that she would do something so drastic out of spite, even if it meant sacrificing the beauty she was naturally born with.

When Gyutaro mentions his ugliness, Hanako becomes confused. She revealed that she found him physically attractive.

Gyutaro thought she was mocking him at first, but realized she had no reason to lie to him. She then asked for him to take something from her before he ate her, as she wanted to have the choice for her own body before she died.

When he bit her for the first time, he was immediately sedated. He realized her blood was marechi, and that's why her scent had given him a strange sense of calm. Afterwards, he offered to turn her into a demon, because she was the only person other than his sister who hadn't looked at him with disgust.

She refused, not wanting to exchange one slavery for another (serving Muzan). This enraged (and hurt) Gyutaro so he ate her.

...and even with a marechi meal he STILL lost to Tanjiro!

KNY Demon Headcanons

(Putting all this here because idk where else to)

Infertility

Demons cannot procreate, neither with each other nor with humans. Their bodies are designed to take life, not create it. Even Muzan's "children" are not his biological children. Single mothers, especially back then are easy to manipulate so of course he targeted them.

Sexuality

Demons don't have sexual desire the same way humans do. Since they're infertile, their primary primal instinct is to hunt and consume humans. Of course, this doesn't necessarily negate that they may choose to have sex or use it for their own gain (example, Daki, Muzan, Douma...). This also doesn't negate their residual desires that they had while human. If they find attraction to a human, their first instinct would be to eat them, not to have relations with them (unfortunately, Gyutaro would eat me 😔).

Food

Demons cannot consume human food, and it tastes horrible to them. If ingested, it will make them extremely sick.

Appearance (and Age)

Multiple demons have been shown to be able to change their forms or appearance and this isn't just exclusive to Muzan. Nezuko can change her size and "age" at will, so it stands to reason other demons can do it too. Even if a demon is turned when a child, like Rui and the Shabana siblings, they won't always stay that way. Instead of "growing up", they choose to take on the appearance they want (I honestly can't think of an explanation as to why Rui is still a kid and Daki is a grown woman so I assume this is the answer).

*kicks even MORE rocks in the timeline* Wind hashira, anyone?

Gyutaro's blood demon art looks kind of similar to wind breathing so I thought he'd probably latch onto wind breathing the easiest and then develop his own style with kusurigana (maybe mantis breathing?)

(I haven't really made an actual design for him as a hashira yet I've been just drawing him with his human clothes as a haori)

These are Edo period demon slayer uniforms, which I couldn't find a reference for but I just assumed it's probably just black kimono instead of the western-style button uniforms in the Taisho era.

Gyutaro is a Hashira, but Ume is not. She stubbornly tries to be a slayer so she can be with her brother, but he keeps trying to leave her behind on his more dangerous missions.
