ya'll know what's a very very silly and unserious thought that's been in my mind lately? even villains or bad guys prefer to be fought by sam

like imagine some big bad villain of the day gets to ruin the day and this new avengers group thing comes and tries to stop them and they go "wait, where's captain america?"

"space," bucky answers (bc of course he keeps track of where sam is)

"what? my contact said he's done on that mission and is supposed to be back today! that's why i attacked today! why is he not here?!" and the villain is so angry and is posing as if to go back ruining things again

the team readies to defend and fight back but the villain just sighs. theyre shoulder slumped.

"guess we'll come back another day," the villain says. "enough of that! c'mon! captain america's not coming today!" they addressed their lackeys.

and some of the lackeys go "what? oh man, i was so ready to fight captain america. did you know he's good in hand to hand combat?" and the other one goes "of course i know that! why did you think i specifically asked to be here? for the chance to fight him, duh!" and another goes "bummer, i was gonna ask for his signature when he beats us," with a pout.

"you," the villain points at bucky, "let me know when the captain's back in town."

and the villain is trudging away, tails between legs, not because they lost a fight but because captain america is not there to fight them.

valentina grabs the opportunity and says the new avengers saved the day and the villain gets so angry somehow, and actually makes a scene just to say, their group only sees captain america's avengers worthy of their efforts in fighting, that they couldn't be bothered to take this new wannabe team seriously and waste energy and resources.

somehow, that lessens any villain attacks cz mostly sam is away for space missions and so no villain tries to cause any bad things while captain america and his avengers is away.

Not to bang on about Sam Wilson again, but sometimes I think about the therapy scene in Falcon and the winter soldier.

And how Sam just found out there’s a Black super soldier who was tortured and imprisoned for 30 years, and then shortly after that he’s racially profiled by a trigger happy cop, and then John Walker shows up to rub the shield in his face, and then he’s dragged into a therapy session where the best friend of the man Sam trusted and worshiped so much he went on the run for him, became a war criminal for him (and Bucky) tells him that Steve was probably wrong to have placed trust in him, that he was probably as worthless as society has deemed him to be seemingly just for daring to exist.

Sometimes I think about that, and how so many people til today stay mad at Sam for not offering empathy to Bucky in that moment, because clearly Bucky was having a meltdown and Sam needed to show support.

Like, four whole years later, I still get that narrative randomly popping up!

Like, I don’t think Sam is perfect. But expecting the man to put aside his own feelings for Bucky in that moment is just staggering to me, in terms of the expectations we have for how Black characters should behave towards white ones without getting tarred and feathered.

Anyway I love those two doofuses, and Sam definitely loves Bucky so I have let things go, but sometimes I think this will be my villain origin story.

The funniest thing about the Sam and Bucky ship is that everyone involved behave like shippers.

The cast:

Sebastian saying for sure it's love

Anthony saying that Sam and Bucky learned to love, accept and take care of eachother. Him saying that Sam and Bucky can't do without each other.

The writers:

Malcolm saying they're a family in a way that will last forever in the MCU or that he imagines that after a mission, Sam goes back home to find Bucky, Sarah and the kids waiting for him.

The directors:

Kari Skogland saying they work well as a couple and that by the end of the show they love each other.

Julius Onah saying there was no way they're gonna divorce those characters.

And you know what they never do? Call them "friends" or "brothers". They never uses those words to describe the relationship.

It's one thing for the fandom to behave like shippers but for the cast and crew to do the same is hilarious. Like you're writing/directing, why don't you just do something about it, if you like Sambucky so much😂.

I was fully prepared for Sam to have a love interest that wasn't Bucky isn't in Captain America: Brave New World but it didn't happen, and I'm a little confused about why. It feels to me that the writers are trying to keep the status quo by not diving into Sambucky completely but also not shutting it down with a love interest for one or the other. We'll see if that changes in Avengers: Doomsday.

I just think it's cute the cast and crew behave the same way we shippers do and also add their own headcanons about the characters but without ever doing something about it.

It's a little like when something happened, and Politicians or lawmakers say someone should do something about it...but they're the ones who can actually do something about it.

But Thunderbolts didn't have nearly two years worth of negative stories planted to diminish its public standing, false stories of being entirely reshot, of costing over 300 million, etc. All to manufacture negative opinion before its release.

Thunderbolts didn't have to contend with an incredibly racist fan base, looking for any excuse to tear down a Black Captain America. Didn't have news outlets jumping on sound bytes to deliberately misrepresent the words of its lead actor.

Thunderbolts had a whole marketing drive promoting itself as "Real Cinema". Using the names of far better projects and creatives to boost its image.

Thunderbolts had a far, far larger promotional drive. More billboards, more posters, more PREMIERES, Marvel screening it for MCU cast preparing for Doomsday, in order to promote it via them on instragram.

Thunderbolts endlessly tried to make the whole 'Florence jumped off a building' a thing when frankly it pales in comparison to even the tamest of Mission Impossible stunts. 🤷‍♀️

Thunderbolts was even given more THEATRES to open to, even despite a heavier market.

Thunderbolts had critics and youtubers glazing the hell out of this thing from the moment the review embargo dropped, having you believe this was the second coming of the MCU, the "best since Endgame" 🤣

Thunderbolts had an entire post-release marketing drive to promote the cast as the "New Avengers", without a shred of irony.

So take all these things together, and this outcome is pretty damn embarrassing for the Thunderbolts I'd said. 🤣😂

And more people who come to view both in the future will look back and agree
