Porsche F1 | 10 Questions With Ava Florence
"Hi everybody. I'm Ava Florence; I race for the Porsche Formula 1 something-something racing team and today we're doing 10 Questions With Ava Florence... which is me, by the way. In case you didn't catch that."
"HOW DID YOU GET INTO RACING?"
"My dad was a hobbyist racer. He drove motorcycles, not cars. So obviously he tried to get us into racing bikes, but me and my brother always liked cars. So one Christmas, he got us a Go-Kart. We could only afford one Go-Kart. So me and my brother would share it on the weekends and just race around this small street by our house. It was probably the coolest thing to six year old me, and that's when I fell in love with racing. I started karting in leagues and then moved up into racing series and the rest is history. My brother now races in F2, so that's cool... I'm still better than him. That hasn't changed."
"WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE TEAM GROWING UP?"
"Ferrari. Growing up near Germany, everybody there was a Ferrari fan because of Schumacher and Seb. So, I also grew up a Ferrari fan. I loved watching them win, which wasn't a lot of times to be fair. But it was really nice to see the Ferrari flag being waved in Monza or something like that. Obviously now, my job is to make sure that doesn't happen. But like Seb said, 'everybody is a Ferrari fan.'"
"WHAT CHALLENGES DID YOU FACE AS A WOMEN IN MOTORSPORT?"
"A lot. I don't like getting too much into it, but it was much different than what my brother is going through. Sometimes it's drivers or somebody in the paddock who treats you differently. In some cases, I was denied participation in a racing series. But whatever it was, I always kept my head high because I knew I had people like my Dad supporting me every step of the way, and I didn't want to let them down by quitting. That's the one thing I don't want to be. A quitter. I'd rather try and fail, than be a loser who never stepped up."
"WHAT'S THE MOST STRESSFUL PART OF BEING AN F1 DRIVER?"
"Probably when you're not thinking about the race. You're driving 200+ mph and you have to think about the pitstop strategy, tire management, who's ahead, who's behind. Sometimes, you want to just stop thinking and drive."
"WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF BEING AN F1 DRIVER?"
"Definitely being able to travel to different countries and seeing the fans there. Back home in Belgium, I know the people there, and I know that they support me and cheer me on. But it's exciting to go another country like Australia or Italy and see people there support to you too. It makes you feel good knowing people across the world are cheering you on every race. So, I try to win every race for them."
"YOU HAVE A LONG FLIGHT AHEAD. WHICH TWO DRIVERS ARE YOU TAKING WITH YOU?"
"Probably Charles because he's easy to make fun of. Especially when I recite his memes to him. I've got like a whole collection on my phone. So, it's free real estate in his head. And then probably Max... because he'd start yapping when we run out of things to talk about. Maxsplaining. But I am worried by like hour two, I'm gonna start third-wheeling for these two."
"FAVORITE TRACK THAT ISN'T YOUR HOME RACE?"
"Probably Brazil. It's probably the perfect track after Spa. It's got fast corners, slow corners, perfect places to overtake. It's amazing on Saturday, but even better on Sunday. Plus, like home, it always rains there. Who doesn't love racing in the rain?"
"DRIVER YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO TO A PUB WITH?"
"Bwoah."
"WHAT IS IT LIKE MEETING THE DRIVERS YOU WATCHED ON SCREEN?"
"Weird, but also exciting. I went from correcting everyone by saying 'Sir' Lewis Hamilton to now calling him Lulu. It's amazing I get to be friends with these drivers. Also, Nando is just soft grandpa."
"HOW MANY RACES ARE YOU GOING WIN?"
"Hopefully all of them."

Is it a good time to reveal that we have merch?

user01: Porsche social media is just playing 4D chess ↳user02: how have they not missed on a single post? It's unfair 😩
user03: pls I'm going to be homeless if I keep spending more money on F1 merch ↳user04: already sold my kidney for this ↳user05: imagine wasting on your life in F1 merch (couldn't be me 👀)
scuderiaferrari: These aren't bad, but they would be better in red. ↳porschef1: Funny how one of your drivers was sporting one of these ↳user06: Not Lewis betraying the Scuderia for Ava already 😬 ↳user07: can't blame at all
scuderiaferrari: Porsche admin, a bet- if Ferrari wins, you wear our merch and we go on a date ↳porschef1: If Porsche wins, you wear our merch ↳scuderiaferrari: Deal. ↳user08: Are we interrupting something? ↳user09: weird way to propose, but you go ferrari admin
user10: Guys, I found the Ferrari and Porsche admins ↳user11: Don't be shy. Drop the @
AVA WISHED she could forgot the Free Practice Sessions. But she couldn't. It hadn't been that long since she raced in Monaco. Hell, she even won in tracks she's never raced in before. So, why was Monaco giving her hell? Consistently in the back of grid during FP1 and FP2, and crashing against the barriers in FP3. Worse, she called the circuit overrated. Perhaps this was karma. The curse of Monaco had split from Charles and crept over to her, tired of the disrespect. After rolling the car back in and settling down for Friday, she made the worst mistake she could: she opened social media. And she saw everything. The doubters, the haters, the naysayers finally had solid proof to call her out. They came out in full swing, like starved goblins seeing blood for the first time. Ava couldn't help but feel this was warranted. She could not keep up with the rest of the pack. It killed her inside.

user01: Leclerc broke his curse last year. It's time for back to back wins ↳user02: Don't know much P5 is gonna do for him.
user03: Tell me why Williams were in the top 10 during practice?? ↳user04: Cuz it's practice? Lmao itdoesn't matter in the race ↳user05: Latiffi flashbacks
user06: Florence finally stopped getting lucky 🤡 ↳user07: Oh boohoo. One bad race ↳user08: fr her streak is finally over ↳user09: Y'all said the same thing about Hamilton and looked what happened
HAMILTON IS BACK ON TOP. That's a saying that millions of fans around the world were waiting to hear and once they came from Crofty's mouth, it brought cheer and joy to the stages of Monaco. What didn't bring them joy was their resident hero not being able to make Q3 after Antonelli's crash brought out a yellow flag and killed his qualifying. Ferrari wanted both men in the top 10, especially since both drivers have won this Grand Prix before. But now, their eyes were on Hamilton and ensure his victory. Better yet, Ava Florence was not there to steal pole. Well, not quite-
AVA MADE IT TO Q3. She dug and crawled her silver Porsche to every next session. She knew her struggles, but it was easing. With every lap, every corner, she was learning the track all over again, trying to find the optimized line. But if anything added salt to her wound, both Williams made it into the top 10. WILLIAMS. Yet she, the championship leader, barely could?
"Hamilton is currently on pole and with three minutes to go, it looks he'll remain in pole. There's only one driver out on the track. Ava Florence. Her final lap. This hasn't been her afternoon. This hasn't been her track. Let's see what she makes of it today."
"Here we go, Crofty. Turn 1. Not the easiest of first turn. Be careful not to lock up. She doesn't. Now to Beau Rivage. Then onto Massanet... just get extremely close to the barrier and look at how close she gets. She's taking risks and, surely, she has to if she wants a shot at putting up a fight today at Monte Carlo. At Fairmont Harpin, down to 30 mph, the slowest corner in F1. Narrow. Tight. She gets out beautifully. To Portier and then down the tunnel. Crofty, she's doing wonderful."
"You would have a hard time convincing anyone that just ten minutes ago, this girl was struggling to make it into Q3. Look at how she's flying. Green sectors around. Through the Nouvelle Chicane. We saw Verstappen make up the time needed for pole here in 2023. Will 2025 be Ava's turn? Only time will tell. She slides beautifully through the Swimming Pool chicane. And just three more corners. La Rascasse and Anthony Noghes. Ava Florence, the championship leader, rookie sensation, cursed by Monaco, what time does she get today.... POLE POSITION! BY ALL ODDS, AVA FLORENCE HAS FOUGHT THROUGH THE CORNERS OF MONTE CARLO. AND ONCE AGAIN, IT WILL BE FERRARI IN DESPAIR AS AVA TAKES POLE POSITION FROM HAMILTON."
"That last sector was the closest thing to perfection I've ever seen. She gained tremendous time and I'm sure Hamilton is going to be have a hard look at the qualifying lap over and over again. How do you go from struggling in Q1 to pole position? Only Ava Florence knows."
HENRY And that is pole position for Sunday!
FLORENCE YES! OH MY GOD! YES! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the eighth round of the 2025 Formula 1 season and we are here in Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix. It just wouldn't be a Formula 1 season without coming to the beautiful streets of Monte Carlo. Saturday gave us a whirlwind of a qualifying, but first, let's a take a look at the track. 78 laps await us on a 3. 3 kilometer street circuit. We have one DRS zone located at the exit of Anthony Noghes and through the pit straight. And of course, the lap record set by Lewis Hamilton at 1:12. 909 in 2021. Joining me now is Martin Brundle."
"Yup. Just back from the grid. Exciting stuff to be shaping up. Monaco, as you know, not the easiest track to pass on. So, tire strategy is key here. All the teams, we're predicting, are one a one-stop strategy though there's debate on which one stop strategy is the best."
"That debate will be put to rest shortly as the drivers head out on their formation laps. Looking at the tire. All of the top ten drivers have to start on medium compound C4 tires. The bottom twelve have a choice to make as we see. Leclerc, Antonelli, and Ocon on the harder compound tires. Our pole sitter, Ava Florence, who had a shocking pole position lap yesterday leads back. I wonder how she'll cope with this situation. Monaco wasn't giving her the best of gifts. Though it did give her pole."
"As long Ava gets a good jump off the line, she'll have a relatively easy time staying in front thanks to the narrow track. Then again, safety cars are always an issue at Monaco. That would really makes pole position an unsettling feeling."
"Certainly, Martin as now the last of the drivers line up on the grid. Here we go. Round 8 in Monte Carlo. IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Hamilton is already gunning at Florence. Vettel is good off the line too. The two Williams behind. Close contact between Bortoleto and Piastri. Down they head to Turn 1. It's Hamilton so close to Florence- OH! THERE'S CARNAGE IN THE BACK! THERE'S SMOKE EVERYWHERE! WHAT HAS HAPPENED? Up ahead, Florence is still leading. It's yellow flags! And it's a catastrophic end to Esteban Ocon, Isack Hadjar, and Pierre Gasly's race. Hadjar and Gasly will fail to score points once again. And Ocon, after two brilliant races, will be knocked in the first lap."
"It looks like Gasly was trying to get past Hadjar, but he had just some sort of brake failure and rammed right into the back of the Racing Bull and that took out Ocon too. So, the safety car is deployed now. And that's going to help Florence just a bit because it means it cuts down the amount of the laps Hamilton has to gain her."
"But how many laps can you really survive with Hamilton chasing you down. You said, Martin, it is a tricky track to overtake on, but when you have someone as experienced and prone to winning as Hamilton, there's still going to be a shred of doubt in your mind as how you're going to keep your pole position."
LAP 7:
"After 6 laps behind the safety car, we're heading back to racing. Just to recap, Ocon, Hadjar, and Gasly are out of the race. So now we've got 19 cars running in the race. The safety car comes in and there's Ava Florence bunching up the pack. When will she go?... Now. Ava Florence is off. Good restart from her, covered quite a gap to Hamilton because now Vettel will be all over the back of that Ferrari. Behind, it's Albon and Sainz in a battle of their own. The two Williams who found themselves in the top 10 in Saturday scuffling. Out the Casino square the come and spiraling down the Fairmont Hairpin. And look at Vettel relentless on that Ferrari."
"Hamilton has two games to play now. Chasing Ava and defending against Vettel. Very tricky indeed. Behind the, Bortoleto and Piastri are in the same predicament. So, two exciting battles to look forward too."
HENRY We need to make these tires last as long as possible.
FLORENCE I don't think they'll go as long as you think, but I'll try
LAP 14:
"At the Nouvelle Chicane, Leclerc is going to be looking to make his move. He's been hounding Alonso for the past few laps, and now he's got his nose alongside the Aston Martin. They're side by side through the chicane - Leclerc on the inside, Alonso giving him just enough space. And Leclerc's through! Brilliant move from the Ferrari driver, who's now up to 14th place!"
"That's vintage Leclerc, isn't it? He's always been a master of these streets, and he's showing why once again. But he's not done yet - he's already closing in on Lawson ahead. Lawson did not get the gap to Alonso he wanted and he's going to pay for it because Leclerc is charging. He's about 1.6 seconds faster than Lawson."
LAP 28:
"Verstappen has been all over the back of Norris for the last few laps. He's getting a bit angsty now, isnt' he? He's trying to squeeze through on the inside at Hairpin! That's tricky to pull off. Norris is holding his line - oh, they've touched! Verstappen's front wing has clipped Norris's rear tire. That is not good for the Red Bull. That looks like major damage.
VERSTAPPEN I've got damage! This idiot!
GP Box immediately, Max!
"Verstappen's going to have to pit for a new front wing. That's a disaster for Red Bull, he'll be dropping well down the order. Norris seems to have escaped unscathed, but race control will surely be looking at that incident."
"Definitely. That looked like Norris just went a tad too far inside to squeeze out Verstappen. Seems dangerous if you ask me so let's see what the stewards think of it."
LAP 35:
"Sebastian Vettel is the first of our frontrunners to pit! The Porsche team has executed a flawless stop, but he's rejoining behind both Williams cars. That's going to be a tough ask for Vettel to get back on the podium."
"Meanwhile, at the front, Florence and Hamilton are still going strong. Their engineers told them to push for five or so more laps. It's becoming a game of tire management. Hamilton is pushing hard, trying to force Florence into a mistake or early pit stop. But the young Belgian is holding firm, matching Hamilton's pace lap after lap. Hamilton is just a tad bit faster, but not enough for overtaking."
LAP 42:
"Florence is in! Ava Florence pits from the lead. It's a clean stop, but will it be enough? Hamilton stays out, pushing hard on his worn mediums."
"And there's the call - Hamilton is in on the very next lap! It's going to be close as he exits the pit lane. Florence is charging down the start-finish straight, and... Hamilton just about gets out in front! But Florence is right on his gearbox as they head into Sainte Devote!"
LAP 43:
"Hamilton is in the pits - My goodness that was fast. Just what he needs because he didn't quite build enough of a gap to Florence. He's wobbling out the pitlane. There's Ava Florence. We can see her coming now. Is Hamilton ahead? He takes the safety road out... He's ahead! Oh the overcut worked for Ferrari. Hamilton will remain the lead!"
FLORENCE F***!
HENRY Don't worry about it, Ava. We still have a chance.
"A chance she does, but how big of a one?"
"Florence is all over the back of the Ferrari through Sainte Devote. She's going to get DRS on this lap. The gap is mere inches."
LAP 47:
"Florence gets a great run out of the tunnel. Look at that slipstream. Pulls alongside into the Nouvelle Chicane. Leclerc got the overtake done here before. But Hamilton holds the inside line firmly! Hamilton, the seven time champion, showing the rookie all his experience. She took the win from in Imola. He won't have that again."
"Is Hamilton's pace dropping though? We're seeing that Florence is three tenths faster on every lap. So, maybe the hard tires on Florence are more up to temperature than Florence or she's just managing them better."
LAP 50:
"Ava Florence just sets the fastest middle sector of the Grand Prix. She's flying out there in P2 and I'm sure she has plans to get into P1. Look at how she's just sticking to Hamilton. There's a lot of downforce here and she's using that her absolute advantage. She's on his gearbox! And oh- That could've been a disaster for both drivers."
"Florence had to lift off to avoid a collision at Rascasse. That was a good reaction. But you're right Crofty. That could've been race ending for both drivers. At this stage of the Grand Prix, you don't want that."
LAP 58:
"Florence goes around the outside at Casino Square. They're side by side, literally inches apart! What will Hamilton do? Hamilton just edging ahead as they spiral down to Mirabeau. The crowd is absolutely electric! INCREDIBLE MOMENT!"
"These are the moments that define careers. Florence is showing she's not just here to participate - she's here to compete. She just does not care if that's Hamilton in Monaco. She's just going go for it every time. And that's exciting for us race fans."
LAP 67:
"Hamilton's defending like a champion now. Florence is trying everything - left, right, probing for any weakness. Through the tunnel they go, and she's right on his tail! Braking for the chicane - OH! Hamilton with an impossibly late brake. Florence has to yield!"
LAP 73:
"Florence is still desperately hunting for a way past Hamilton. The race is in it's closing stages. They're climbing up the hill towards Casino Square, Florence getting a great exit from Massenet. She's closer than ever! Through Casino Square they go, Florence is right on Hamilton's gearbox. OH MY GOODNESS, SHE'S ALONGSIDE! Florence has the outside line, she's inching ahead! Down they plunge towards Mirabeau, neither driver willing to give an inch. Hamilton's trying to squeeze her to the inside, but Florence is having none of it. They're wheel-to-wheel, you could barely fit a sheet of paper between them!"
"She's picking the most tricky parts to overtake as Into the hairpin they go, still side-by-side!"
"What are we watching here Martin? Florence on the inside now, Hamilton trying to hang on around the outside. She's got the line. Can she get the position? OUT OF THE HAIRPIN, AND FLORENCE IS IN FRONT! SHE'S DONE IT! Ava Florence has taken the lead with just five laps to go! What a move, what a drive! The crowd is on their feet, the Tifosi are losing their minds!"
"Florence has done it! She's in clean air now, and if she can hold on for five more laps, we could be witnessing one of the great Monaco victories! Pole position by a near impossible lap, and now a near impossible overtake to win."
FINAL LAPS:
"And here we go, into the final three laps of this Monaco Grand Prix! Ava Florence leads, but Lewis Hamilton is not done yet. Hamilton's got a phenomenal exit out of Rascasse. Florence weaving, trying to break that tow. Hamilton's looking left, looking right, but Florence positions her car perfectly into Sainte Devote. Brilliant defensive driving!"
"If you told me that this was the driver struggling during Free Practice and Q1 and Q2 on this track, I would ask you to see a mental hospital. This is just superb driving. I know we aren't supposed to be biased towards a driver, but I think we're all really rooting for Florence to win this."
"What's that thing Sebastian Vettel once said? 'Everybody is a Ferrari fan.' Well, everybody is an Ava fan. Hamilton is throwing everything at this! But Ava is not letting up. He's all over the back of Florence through Massenet, through Casino Square. Down to Mirabeau they come, and HAMILTON'S GOING FOR IT! He's diving to the inside! He's going for the same move Florence did on him. Florence sees him coming, leaves just enough space. They're side by side through the hairpin! Florence hangs on, incredible stuff!"
"I think Florence knew that move was coming mostly because she did the same thing to him. She was like 'No, thank you. I know how to defend this.'"
...
"Florence leads by just half a second as they cross the line. Hamilton's pushing hard, he's gaining through Massenet, through Casino Square. He's lightning quick on those corners. They dive into the tunnel, Hamilton's right in Florence's slipstream! Out of the tunnel they come, Hamilton tries to go to the outside into the Nouvelle Chicane. Florence defends brilliantly! Through the Swimming Pool complex, Rascasse, Florence is holding on! Porsche pit crew holding on their seats. Final corner, Anthony Noghes, Florence gets a perfect exit! Down the straight they come, Hamilton's trying everything, but IT'S NOT ENOUGH! AVA FLORENCE WINS THE MONACO GRAND PRIX! What a drive, what a race! Florence takes her maiden Monaco victory by just three-tenths of a second! Incredible scenes here in Monte Carlo!"
"These are the kinds of drives that make you realize that a driver is truly special. I can't imagine the weight of the expectations on her head. First female driver, driving for a new team, rookie, and leading the championship. And to pull a performance like that is just absolutely brilliant."
HENRY That was the Grand Prix of a life time!
FLORENCE YEAH! F*** YES! OH MY F****** GOD! WOOH!

WHAT IS QUALIFYING without a bit of struggle for Porsche? In Q1, Vettel barely was able to squeeze into the next session, being a tenth faster than Colapinto in 17th. The only glimmer of hope for Porsche was that Ferrari had found pace, and not the McLarens. Leclerc and Hamilton was climbing back into the heights of the top 3 after a disastrous start to their seasons. Now, the stage for Q3 was set. The drivers included: Hamilton, Leclerc, Verstappen, Piastri, Florence, Vettel, Russell, Norris, Antonelli, and Hulkenberg.
PIASTRI went out first. For the next three minutes, he was the quickest man on the timing sheets. Leclerc got the closest, but was still two tenths off the pole sitter. It was all smiles in the McLaren garage. Until their fretted nightmare came. Lewis Hamilton, a man who was written off that the beginning of the season, snatched pole position by a tenth of a second. Cheers erupted from the Ferrari pit crew. A pole position. The first of the season. This could be the beginning of the turnaround. For the next set of laps, no man could challenge that time. However, who dared challenged next was not a man.
"We ride on board with Ava Florence - her first lap in Q3. Hamilton on pole, Piastri second. Where is Florence is going to finish in the pecking order? Her teammate is in fifth. That could be a good indicator where she will land. Martin, let's see this lap, shall we?"
"She's just making her away around the final corner of her out lap. Open the DRS hatch and now we begin! The pit straight is anything but straight. A slight left bend for Turn 1, approaching the Tamburello Chicane. Sweep left, nice right, a bit further and left again. Accelerate the whole time. Beautiful exit out of Turn 4. Short straight and now we're at Villeneuve. Turn 5, flat out. And then drop a couple gears for Turn 6."
"My goodness. First sector, faster than anybody by three tenths. Amazing."
"Indeed as past Tosa she goes and uphill for Piratella. You need total bravery for this corner and total bravery she has. Brilliant speed carrying uphill. Now for Acque Minerali. Easy to go wrong here. Keep the throttle planted through the first right bend then on the brakes for the second. Be careful of the gravel and she is. A quick left kink, Turn 13. Then Alta - tight, technical, but fast right-to-left chicane..."
"And sorry to interrupt you there, Martin, but another fastest sector for Florence. At Rivazza, the double left handers. No lock up for her. She sails smoothly through and the final corner. She crosses the line. She goes... ALMOST HALF A SECOND! HALF A SECOND FASTER THAN LEWIS HAMILTON! And Fred Vessuer did not expect that at all. Neither did Hamilton, I'm sure. And this is another masterclass to add for what is surely shaping up to be a sensational rookie season."
HENRY And that is pole position, Ava! What a lap!
FLORENCE Haha! Yes! Finally!
"That's her second pole position of her career. Her first, Suzuka, Round 3. I'm sure she'll be delighted for this after many rounds of struggling in qualifying."

"Imola, where Romans first settled, and where the gladiators have returned. Ava Florence, her second pole position of her career, will be looking forward to continue her tremendous season, but she's got the more experience Hamilton behind her. This afternoon, it's a 3.05 mile track and it is wet at the moment. We had some showers coming in before the race schedule. One DRS zone on the first straight of the track. 63 laps ahead of us, let's see what comes out of this race."
"Rain is always an unpredictable factor in Formula 1. We get so many exciting moments in the rain. This one is going to be no different. We've got most of the grid starting in Inters, except for the likes of the Audi of Hulkenberg and the Redbull of Lawson."
"Tire strategy is going to play a key role here as rain is expected to last for a good portion of the Grand Prix. But now, the cars line up at the end of the formation lap. It's Ava at the top of the pack, followed by Lewis Hamilton, Oscar Piastri, and Charles Leclerc. And now it's five lights.... AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Oscar got a good start on Hamilton, he's side-by-side already. Florence leading the pack. Down Turn 1 they go - OSCAR GOES PAST HAMILTON. Verstapen on Leclerc. AND OH AN AUDI GOES OFF THE TRACK!"
"It's Hulkenberg. Hulkenberg went off the track. And now that's giving Sainz the clear move on Antonelli. He pushes to the inside and he moves on ahead."
"Already, we've swapping positions. Piastri had that beautiful start on Hamilton. He's in second. He's going to try and pass Ava. Behind it's a rivalry we've been asking for. Leclerc and Verstappen. It's going to Verstappen on the outside of Tosa. Round they go on the hairpin, Leclerc just having that edge. Verstappen not giving up though. He's alongside his rear right wheel... Leclerc cuts him off at Turn 8."
"Exciting stuff we're seeing. A lot of drivers are failing to find grip on these wet conditions. As there goes Esteban Ocon on Isack Hadjar. He's in P18 now. Like I was saying, staying on the track is going to be the most important thing because there's a lot of gravel and- Oh, Norris spins out. Just like I said. You have keep on the track."
"Lando Norris stuck on the gravel pits. He's going to try and find a way out. We have yellow flags out and this is reminding me an awful lot like the race with 2021. And if you're Hamilton, you don't want it to be like 2021 Imola. As now, past Turn 19, they hit the pit straight. Hamilton has the slipstream. No DRS, but he doesn't need it. He pulls past Piastri. Hamilton back into P2."
LAP 3:
"What's this? This is Nico Hulkenberg coming into the pits. So, obviously, the wet tires did not work out for the Audi. The track just not wet enough for it. We're watching Bortoleto and Alonso. And that's not much of a competition there. Bortoleto gets past the Aston Martin."
"Hamilton has cut down the gap to Florence to just five tenths. So, he's going to get a good chance the next time they come down the pit straight. Oh what is this? Russell goes a little wide on Tosa so that's Lando Norris coming through. He's gained an easy position."
"Sorry to cut off there, Martin. I said it was going to be an easy position for Bortoleto. I lied. Alonso is coming back through Minerali. Alonso has the better line, and he's going to swoop past Bortoleto. So, that is the difference between a rookie and a 43 year old F1 veteran. Alonso makes it very easy to get back into P12. There's also Esteban Ocon. He gets past Colapinto in the same corner Alonso got past Bortoleto. So, Ocon, finding very good pace in these inters. He's not that far off from the leaders."
...
"We said it earlier. Hamilton less than a car length away from Florence. Still no DRS. The stewards don't think its safe enough to activate. But Hamilton doesn't care. He's popping down the inside of Turn 2. Side by side! And Florence is off the track. Oh she had to cut it! HAMILTON IS UP INTO THE LEAD! And it's not over! Florence struggling to get back onto the track! Piastri moves up int P2."
"They didn't make contact, but it looked like Hamilton had to force her wide and then she went off the track. We might need a replay to see what happened. But, yeah, Crofty. She had trouble getting it back and Piastri took that chance to swoop in."
FLORENCE The chicane is way too wet!
HENRY Understood, Ava. But we don't think it's ready for wets.
"So, it wasn't Hamilton. The track is just too wet for her stay on it. But apparently, not wet enough for wet weathers. If you're just joining us, Ava Florence, the pole sitter, the race leader is now sitting in third with Hamilton leading for the first time this season."
BEARMAN Why are the shifts not working?
"That's Ollie Bearman complaining about the gears on his steering wheel. Hopefully, that won't become a persistent problem later in the race."
LAP 15:
"It's revenge season for Ava Florence. She's been chasing down Oscar Piastri for 13 laps. Down the pit straight. Still no DRS, but this track is proving you don't need to overtake. Down the inside, she goes. Is she going to recreate the move Hamilton did on her? Piastri backs off, Ava moves up. She's into P2."
"I think Piastri knew the track was still too wet. He saw what happened with Ava. He was right behind her. So, he doesn't want that happening to him."
"Ava is now clear of Piastri. The gap to Hamilton: 4.5 seconds. And what's happening here? Contact between Lawson and Stroll! Lawson clips his front wing! He tried to swerve on the other side of Turn 1, but calculated it wrong. And Lawson is definitely going to have to pit. That is going add another bad omen to his already bad weekend."
LAP 16:
"Verstappen has been slowly gaining on Leclerc. Or shall I say, Leclerc seems to be losing some pace. He's getting slower and slower with every lap. Is his inters starting to lose some grip?"
"I think so. He's been spending a lot of time in the opening stages defending against Verstappen so that might have cost him as now Verstappen tries on the outside of Tosa again."
"This time, Leclerc does not have the exit speed he needed. Verstappen, oh so close, storms on ahead. Verstappen up into P4. After the last couple of rounds, he's moved up into P2 of the championship standing and now looks like the real front runner to challenge Florence, if there is any."
LAP 26:
"There's Vettel coming out of the pit lane. He's behind Lando Norris. A bit of a hit and miss weekend for Vettel. Not a strong qualifying, but finding some sort of pace to keep it running. And now we're going to past the chicane. And I think from what we've been seeing, the rain is increasing, so we might see some cars coming into the pitlanes for wet weather tires... And, yes, we do. It's Piastri coming into. So Verstappen is now third, but none of top three have stopped, and I'm pretty sure they will."
"Yeah, let's just look at this stop by McLaren. Mighty fast. Gets him in, gets him out. Just what Piastri needs because he certainly has the pace to fight for the win. The top three have all exchanged places this race."
"We ride on board with Sebastian Vettel and WOAH! THEY RUNS INTO THE SIDE OF LANDO NORRIS! THAT'S A BIG CRASH AND SURELY BOTH DRIVERS ARE OUT OF THIS RACE!"
"That looked dangerous there. Just how fast they came crashing into the wall. What happened? Let's see... so it looks like Vettel and Norris are side by side. So, Vettel is looking for the overtake and I think his rear wheel just clipped the grass and it caused him to spin. And that took it out Norris in the process as well."
VETTEL I'm sorry there guys. Hit the grass.
RUDI That's okay, Sebastian. Confirm you're okay.
VETTEL Yeah, I'm fine.
"And that's going to be heartbreak for Porsche and Mclaren. They two teams on top of the constructors championships. Luckily for them, their others drivers are running into the top ten."
"There's a safety car... No, the race has been red flagged. Red flags on the track so we're going to have to pause the race for a while as they clean up this mighty crash. Luckily, both drivers are okay."
"Ava, how's this race been for you so far. You started on pole, lost it to Hamilton and Piastri. Moved up and now you're second. What are you discussing with the team?"
Ava: We were just discussing what happened with Norris and Seb because I was just told on the it's yellow flag, No, it's safety car. No, it's red flag. Bring the car back. So, just looked at the accident and good thing everyone is okay. Obviously, not the greatest for us. Seb didn't have pace but he was running in the points. So, now it's a bit more pressure to put up a good result.
"You have Hamilton ahead, but you're going to benefit hugely from the restart. What are your plans for that?"
Ava: This does benefit us hugely. I don't have to worry about catching up with Hamilton, but I mean the rain is increasing and so I'm not sure if I'm going to have the straight line I need to take Hamilton on the restart.
"And we are back! The red flag is lifted, and it's going to be a standing restart! Hamilton leads the pack as they return to their grid positions, but don't forget, Florence has been relentless all weekend and now she's right behind him. This restart will be crucial. Can Ava capitalize on this opportunity? The rain is still falling, and the conditions aren't getting any easier. It's a slippery surface out there as the cars get ready for another battle. The lights are going out again—AND WE'RE OFF! Hamilton with a clean getaway, but Ava Florence is right on his tail. She's pushing, pushing hard down towards Turn 2, and OH, SHE'S THROUGH! A brilliant move from Florence! Hamilton tries to defend but she's already past him by Turn 3! And there it is—AVA FLORENCE BACK INTO THE LEAD!"
"What a start for Florence. You can see Hamilton already trying to fight back, but it's Florence who leads as they headed into Turn 3. Florence just has to build this gap and keep it steady. Hamilton is not going to let off easy."
"Piastri, Verstappen, and Leclerc all looking to take advantage of any slip-ups ahead. Verstappen is already eyeing up Piastri. He's looking to make a move into Turn 4, not quite! Long straight. Plenty of time to catch up. Ocon, making up lots of positions on the restart. He's up into the points. A brilliant race Ocon is having. So is Fernando. And now, Verstappen, on the outside of Tosa! Again, he gets the overtake done on Turn 7. Verstappen is in P3."
"Verstappen gets the traction out of the corner, and Piastri is forced to concede the position. And that corner has just been magical for Dutch driver."
LAP 30:
"Hamilton is not letting up. The gap is anything but large. He's right there behind Florence, just half a second separating them. I'm sure her engineer has told her, Hamilton is faster on the first sector. The one they're heading into right now. Verstappen, meanwhile, is hunting down Hamilton and has his sights set on that second place spot. Quite a while to go, bu this is heating up nicely."
"As we go through the tight corners of the chicane, Hamilton is a little faster through there, but Florence's consistency on the brakes is keeping him at bay."
"You can feel the tension building between these two—it's like they're waiting for the other to make a mistake. And here we go again into Turn 2—OH, HAMILTON SLIDES! He loses a bit of time! Florence takes advantage!"
"Hamilton got too trigger happy. The track was too wet for a move like that. Florence is being cautious. She has to be. She doesn't want to go off the track."
LAP 35:
"Max Verstappen has now found his rhythm and is closing the gap to Hamilton. It looks like Piastri's battle with Verstappen has allowed the Dutchman to find some space to work with. Up ahead, Florence and Hamilton are still nose to tail, but Verstappen is gaining, gaining fast. Could we see another change in the lead soon?"
"Piastri is holding on, but I don't think he has the pace to challenge Verstappen right now. The McLaren is struggling to stay with the Red Bull, especially through the high-speed corners. And look at the grip—Verstappen's tires are working wonders!"
LAP 40:
"Well, looks like McLaren found some magical pace. Either that or Verstappen is falling. Because Piastri is right here into Tosa. And there we go—Oscar Piastri back into P3. The same move Verstappen did on him. He returns the favor."
"The rain is still falling, but the drivers are handling it better now. We've reached a relative stability in the race."
"Esteban Ocon is on an absolute charge! He's now up to P9. Ocon has found a groove."
LAP 58:
"Oh no! We've just heard over the radio—Ollie Bearman has pulled off to the side of the track. He's having a mechanical issue, and it looks like this could be a big one. Bearman is forced to retire from the race. What a shame for the young Brit, who had been running solidly in the midfield."
"I think it's the gears he was talking about earlier in the race. So, the team really should've done something about that. But with Bearman on the road like this. It means, the safety car will be brought out."
"And here comes the safety car—just as we approach the final laps. We're close to the end here so I'm wondering if the race will finish under the safety car."
"I think it will. We might get at best, one or two laps, but I think it's safe to say this is the end of what has been an exciting Grand Prix in Imola."
LAP 63:
"As we cross the line to begin the final lap of this thrilling race, it looks like the safety car will be leading the way to the finish Ava Florence will take the win here in Imola—her second victory of the season, and what a way to do it! The rain, the battles, the drama—it's been a race that had it all. Behind her, the same top 3 that made up qualifying, but the order had changed multiple times through the race. Hamilton secures P2, his best finish yet. And Piastri back on the podium after his win in Miami."
HENRY That's another race in the books, Ava!
FLORENCE Woo! That was stressful. I never want to be in that position again.
HAMILTON That was a tough race. I thank everyone back at the factory. Wonderful job here. Congrats to Ava, too. That was a good race from her.

THE 2025 CHAMPIONSHIP IS ALREADY HEATING UP
2025 brought with it a wave of excitement and expectations, and it met every single of them. In the first five races, we've received four different race winners, a rookie driver and team leading the championship, and shocking disasters from Ferrari and Red Bull. Every race has been packed with action and incidents. But the age old question still arrives: who will walk away with the championship?
MCLAREN AND REDBULL'S rivalry continues with both Lando and Max having one race win each. While they are currently engaged in battle for P2, they cannot be doubted in the championship race. With 19 races to go, it's still anybody's game, and if the 2024 season has proved anything, it's that these two are the front runners to grab it.
MEANWHILE FERRARI started their F1 season in disastrous fashion. With only one podium in Australia, Ferrari find themselves far away from the likes of Porsche as they try to fix out their technical issues within the team. While fans have not given up hope with Hamilton's shocking move, he hasn't quite proven why he was signed to the team. And going forward, it's going to continue to be hard. Especially after looking at the driver in first.
AVA FLORENCE has displayed a masterclass of a rookie season in Formula 1. She's so far the only driver to be on the podium for every race of the season. That is allowed her to remain atop the standing with a 20 point cushion to Lando Norris. Her remarkable consistency has given her a strong push for the championship, but to win the coveted achievement as a rookie is still a tall ask. Not many doubt her capabilities anymore, or, rather, she hasn't let anybody doubt her abilities. So, will Ava Florence walk away as the first rookie to a win an F1 Championship?

Franco Colapinto to replace Jack Doohan at Alpine for the remainder of the 2025 season. Alpine reported severe disappointment at Doohan's performance and called in Colapinto after Jeddah.

capitalgains: "Test and Reserve Driver" = "Finna replace the guy in 5 races" ↳barbeque: Love Colapinto, damn did Alpine do Doohan dirty ↳dustymen: What do you expect from a French organization?
pro3d: This is a great opportunity for Colapinto. He'll gave more of the races to make a strong showing for himself, but in all retrospect, he isn't doing much better than Doohan. Not cause he's worse, but because he's in an Alpine. ↳realist: Took the words straight from my mouth. All my homies hate Alpine. ↳franz: Alpine: Make good car ❌ sack driver ✅
nick0lodeon: From P20 to P15 and P16. Wonderful Alpine. ↳rafael: Alpine when I catch you! 🔪
lockheadslave: Good luck Franco. 🇦🇷
THE MCLARENS were fast. Really, really fast. Throughout the first two sessions, Lando put himself into the top three every time. Piastri was catching too. After an overall disappointing start to his 3rd F1 season, it seems he found his stride. And soon, he was the only man catching on Lando.
AVA'S QUALIFYING struggles continued. She wasn't sure what it was anymore. Some days, it was the car fighting against her. Other days, she felt she had no pace whatsoever. Regardless, her consistency and remarkable racecraft kept her in the top five. That's all that mattered to Porsche at this point. They were in a fight against McLaren and they had the lead. Consistency was all that was on their mind. And with two cars in the top five, it was (mostly) smiles in the paddock.

Our reactions to sprint qualifying.
see comment below
@garbenzo: pls pls pls fix Ava's car during qualifying 🙏 ↳@nutsntuna: I don't understand how she has amazing lap times during the race but the car just sucks during qualifying. ↳@gina: I think it's cause they use Florence has a test to see how different setup works and Seb has a control. It's bad, but she is their main driver moving forward so they wanna test with her.
@meterscope: lmao what happened to that pace? 🤣 ↳@drssupremacy: It's one qualifying session. They're still leading the championship. ↳@yunokm: some f1 fans don't even watch their own sport. ↳@lilonstich: Audi fan spotted.
@florence4ever: Dw it's still top 5. Seb and Florence got this. ↳@factz: I really hope so. I wanna see someone end Max Verstappens dominance.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Miami International Circuit where we'll kick off the second spring racer of the 2025 season. So far it has already proved to be a season for the ages with four different race winners. Spring races have proved quite a unique experience as will. Will this be the same? We will see. What do you think Martin?"
"I think there's great excitement to be held today. Obviously we have Lando Norris on pole. His second spring racer pole. However he hasn't been able to convert it into a race win yet in the spring races. And with Piastri behind him it's not going to be easy. We saw what these two did last season. Let's hope for much of the same this year."
HENRY Alright, Ava, we've got Verstappen and Sebastian ahead. Let's remain cautious.
"Cautious she'll have to be. We've had as great deal of first corner accidents in this season. Nothin is off the table just yet. She's gonna play the long game now do you think Martin?"
"She'll have to. She's leading the championship and with her remarkable consistency she just has to not get involved in too many wild accidents."
"As now, we have five lights... AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Norris gets a good start, Piastri does too. Oh and there goes Hamilton on Lawson. He's already made up a position and now Russell will have a go. As we barrel down the first corner, Norris leads. Piastri behind and the rest of the top five remains unchanged. There's Russell on Lawson. Is he going to get past the Red Bull? No, Russell doesn't have the speed to make the move."
"Norris got the start he needed. Nice reaction and just keep Piastri at bay on the entry to Turn 1. Good stuff. He'll remain in P1."
"But now here's Vettel on Verstappen, the two drivers going side by side. But the circuit just too narrow at this part of the track. And that's given Florence the chance to catch up and she's going to make it a three way battle for P3. She's going to try the inside. Vettel and Verstappen in their own battle. She gets past! My goodness. She's up into P3."
"Verstappen was too busy fending off Vettel to do anything about her and she said 'if you're not going to do anything about it, I'll gladly take this position.' Very easy pass, but a tricky one for Florence."
"And up ahead PIASTRI makes the lunge on Norris. All the way around the outside... HE STICKS RIGHT WITH HIM! AND OSCAR PIASTRI IS THE LEADING MCLAREN! Oscar Piastri leads the race!"
"I can't believe it. For the second sprint race, Lando Norris will not finish the opening lap in pole position. This is going to be a serious problem for his championship cause he continues to have this issue."
LAP 5:
"Now I'm sure at the beginning of 2024, when this man announced he'll be joining the prancing horses, this is surely what many fans were expecting. Hamilton vs Leclerc. Once rivals, now teammates fighting for P6 in a sprint race. As Hamilton gets a good exit out of Turn 11 and will now be in DRS range of the Monegasque. Through the chicane they go and now Hamilton, with the DRS, is looking to make the dive on his teammate as he's going to get past Leclerc before the corner. Hamilton up to P6."
LAP 10:
FLORENCE Something is not right with the front wing.
HENRY Copy that, Ava. You're doing great. Just do your best to hold off Verstappen.
"That's not going to be good for Ava Florence. She was having front wing problems during qualifying yesterday and now she'll have Max Verstappen charging behind her. Red Bull is strong on this circuit."
LAP 13:
"The fight against the Porsches is not finished for Verstappen. He's within DRS range now on the longest straight of the circuit. Tremendous acceleration by the Red Bull. Verstappen breathing down Ava's neck into Turn 17."
"We really get to see the problems that front wing is causing. Florence is losing so much on time on the straights."
"Doesn't help when you have Verstappen behind you. 4 time champion he is."
HENRY We need to push Turn 12 and 16.
FLORENCE I am!
LAP 15:
"Back to the start, Lap 15, Verstappen five tenths behind. He has the DRS. We ride on board with the champion... and that will be an easy pass for him. Ava couldn't do anything about it."
"We've seen her defend when her car is working up to speed, but today just doesn't seem to her day. Behind, Sebastian Vettel."
LAP 19:
And the man who gloriously took the lead of the race in Lap 1 never once looked back. He has sailed through this sprint race. His third sprint race win of his career. Oscar Piastri wins the Miami Sprint! Behind his teammate, Norris, ten seconds behind, so a 1-2 finish for McLaren."
FLORENCE This is unacceptable guys. It's only 8 points but we cannot be f****** up the sprint races like this.
HENRY Understood, Ava. For now, let's just focus on the race.

Oscar Piastri is your Miami Sprint racer winner. Lando Norris and Max Verstappen follow behind to take second and third.

fumingbrains: bwoah ↳britneybae: Just another day for Oscar Jack Piastri-Leclerc
norizz: Lando I'm begging you to get your lap one rights! ↳delulu: The sad part is Norris has pace, but you can't much with it when you lose the lead in the opening lap.
astrohelmet: Not to be that guy, but this sprint race wasn't that exciting ↳linamuil: fr compared to what we've seen, this was meh ↳deamon: It had the same stuff as every other race: Norris bottling the start, Verstappen finding a good place, and Porsche's struggling with wing issues.
turbogranny: Max's back has to hurt from carrying Red Bull this much! ↳druli: Half his paycheck goes to surgery
gong: Where the hell did Audi disappear to?
f1_updates          Ava Florence on Porsche's struggling during qualifying - "It's obviously becoming a big issue. We're coming into the weekends with suspension issues, front wing issues, rear wing issues. We'll have to iron it out and fix it as soon as possible."           Ava Florence was struggling with ERS failure during Sprint Race qualifying.
PIASTRI took pole. It made sense. He was the quickest man on the track since the sprint race. He had beaten his teammate horrible during the 19 laps and it now his time to shine for McLaren. The Aussie clinches his first pole position and now all interest turned towards Piastri to turn things around for McLaren. They were some distance away from Porsche, but with Lando gunning behind, this could be their pivotal chance to dethrone the German horses.

"Welcome to Round 6 of the 2025 Formula 1 season. We're here in Miami and its shaping to be an even more exciting race than it was last season. We've got 57 laps ahead of us on this 5.4 kilometer circuit. The lap record set by Max Verstappen in 2023. Where is he on the grid? Second. Right behind our pole sitter - his first pole position of his career - Oscar Piastri."
"Pressure is up for Piastri, I'm sure, because we saw the tremendous pace he had during the sprint race. I'm sure McLaren want him to emulate for this race."
"And now it's five lights in Miami... AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO. Piastri gets a brilliant start off the line. Not for Norris though. He's being pressured by Florence. Down the first corner they, Piastri ahead-
"There's contact!"
"Oh there's contact between Florence and Lando! Florence is off the line, Lawson moves on ahead."
FLORENCE Front wing. Front wing damage.
HENRY Stay out as long as possible. Everyone is on a one stop.
"And oh dear what a dreadful start it is for Florence. She's falling through the pack. It's Piastri, Verstappen, Norris, Lawon, Vettel, Leclerc, Hamilton, and Russell. AND OH VETTEL MAKES CONTACT WITH THE WALL! HE WENT WIDE INTO TURN 4."
"He was trying to get past Lawson, but Lawson all of a sudden on the brakes. He had to really move away to avoid a crash, but it's ended up costing him crucial time."
VETTEL Is he trying to kill me or what?
RUDI Sebastian, we have damage on the front wing. Be careful.
"That is two Porsche's with front wing damage. What a first lap this has been? Certainly one to forget for Porsche. Not one for Piastri however. He's still leading as down Turns 9 and 10 they go. DRS not enabled yet."
"I think the stewards are going to look into that incident... No, they're going to look at the incident between Lando and Ava. So, let's see what the stewards decide for that. Looking at the replay... It looks like Florence just turned into a little too much, but I hardly think that's anybody's fault. She left room, had the space, but just didn't expect Lando to be so stationary. But we'll have to wait and see what the stewards make of that."
LAP 5:
"That's Bortoleto making moves. Around the outside Yuki Tsunoda he goes. He's up into P19 after qualifying last on the grid."
"Just not been great for Audi these past couple of rounds. They made shocking waves when they had that sprint race win and double podium, but they just can't seem to get the hang of these fast-flowing tracks."
"Bortoleto giving it everything he can to make up lost positions. Another driver who's gaining positions, Esteban Ocon. He's up into P11, just knocking on the door for points... And if couldn't get any worse, Ava Florence has been given a drive through penalty for causing an accident with Land Norris on Turn 1. So, Florence, will effectively be last on the grid when she comes out."
HENRY Okay, Ava. We've been given a drive through penalty for that incident with Norris.
FLORENCE This is a joke!
LAP 7:
"Here's Antonelli on Fernando Alonso. The rookie against the master. Side by side they go, into the DRS detection zone. Antonelli with have DRS. He'll use DRS and he'll get ahead of Fernando Alonso. Antonelli, up into P11."
"That's the kind of driving that Mercedes signed Antonelli for. Just brave, fast, and relentless. Doesn't matter if it's a rookie or a 43 year old legend."
"Further down the back, there's Ava Florence. She's caught up with the backmarkers. On the inside of Pierre Gasly, and that's an easy pass for the Porsche."
LAP 15:
"And here we go, the pit window is opening up. Lawson is the first to blink, coming in for fresh hard tires. He's followed closely by Leclerc and Hamilton. So, both Ferraris are going to pit together. And it's the hard compound for both of them."
"Interesting strategy from Red Bull. They're keeping Verstappen out there. He's still chasing down Piastri, so I don't think they want to hold him up. But Piastri is managing to maintain a steady 10-second gap throughout the race so far. So maybe they should pit for fresher tires and see if that change the pace."
LAP 18:
"Now we see Norris coming into the pits... That looks like a good top for McLaren: 2.3 seconds. He's back out in P8, but with fresh rubber, he'll be looking to make up ground quickly. And there goes Verstappen! Red Bull finally bringing him in. This could be the crucial moment of the race. Piastri stays out. Will this overcut work for McLaren?"
LAP 20:
"Piastri finally comes in, and it's a quick stop from McLaren. He's out... and he's JUST ahead of Verstappen! That's a good call from McLaren and this is going to crucial for Piasti as he now as slightly fresher tires and the lead to Verstappen."
"The order has certainly been shaken up. It's now Piastri, Verstappen, Antonelli who hasn't stopped yet, Norris, Leclerc, and Lawson rounding out the top 6. Florence, her charge is slowing down. She's stuck behind this train of cars, all who haven't pitted yet, so maybe they'll... No, Florence is coming into the pits. So, Florence will be the first of the Porsche's to come in."
LAP 30:
"That call earlier to bring Florence into the pits is working. What a charge we're seeing from Ava Florence! She's been absolutely flying through the field. She's just passed Alonso for P12, and she's hunting down Hulkenberg for a chance at points."
"Incredible recovery from her. We saw this in China even. She just has incredible grit and determination."
LAP 35:
"Florence makes another move! That was a move five laps into the making. She's past Hulkenberg and into the points! P10 for Ava Florence and with 22 laps to go, the positions are still up for grabs. She's the fastest driver on the track right now."
"We're also seeing great drives from Ocon and Colapinto. Ocon's up to P7, while Colapinto has fought his way up to P9. This is superb driving from these two drivers. Their teams need these points badly."
LAP 43:
"OH NO! Disaster for Pierre Gasly! His car has come to a complete stop on the back straight. Looks like a total power unit failure. The marshals are rushing to the scene. That's going need to a safety car."
"And there it is, the safety car has been deployed. This is exactly what some of these drivers need. Bunch up the back and regain the positions they lost to some of the midfield teams. And here comes the car coming into the pitlanes."
"Cars are diving into the pits left and right. Piastri, Verstappen, Norris all coming in. But wait, Florence is staying out! Brave call from Porsche."
"She pitted for the hard compounds quite later than these guys so she's perfectly fine on the tires here. I think that was the right call for them. Oh! Disaster for Vettel in the pits! The front jack dropped before the wheel was on properly. That's cost him at least 10 seconds! And... he's behind the entire pack."
"That is not good news for Porsche. They spend the entire race trying to bring Florence up to the top 10, now Vettel has dropped. Right about now, this is sounding like news to the McLaren pit."
LAP 46:
"The safety car is in this lap, and what a restart we have in store! It's Piastri leading, followed by Verstappen, and now Florence in P4! She'll be right behind Lando Norris. Ava keeping the hopes of Porsche in bay."
"Lights out on the safety car, and Piastri controls the restart beautifully! But Florence is all over the back of Norris!"
LAP 47:
"Florence is looking for a way past Norrs, but the McLaren is defending hard. Wait a minute, she's gone for a move around the outside of turn 1! Incredible bravery from Florence, and she's made it stick! Florence is up to P3!"
LAP 57:
"Final lap here in Miami, and what a race it's been! Piastri has managed this perfectly. Pole position, and now race victory. Oscar Piastri wins the Miami Grand Prix! Max Verstappen second and Ava Florence in P3! What a race it has been for her! Her podium streak continues."
HENRY Brilliant race, Ava.

MIAMI POST RACE INTERVIEW
Interviewer: Oscar, first race win of the season. You won the sprint race, you got pole, you won the Grand Prix. What are you feeling?
Oscar: Uh, yeah, it's good. The car felt fast all weekend and we did a lot of things right. So... I'm happy about this whole weekend. Great for me. Great for the team.
Interviewer: Max. You were very fast throughout the weekend, but you couldn't quite manage the pace to win. Can you tell us about that?
Max: Yeah, pretty much like you said. Super quick, but maybe not as fast as McLarens so we're definitely going to discuss that after the race. We've been getting better these past couple of races, so that would be nice to get more wins.
Interviewer: This has certainly been a rocky weekend for you, Ava. But you managed to climb back through it. Tell us about that?
Ava: Turn 1, tried to get past Norris, but I didn't think he wouldn't move on the corner. Got damage on the front wing. Then the FIA had to screw me over and gave me that penalty. But then the safety car came out and that helped us a lot. So thank you Pierre for that one. But to be honest, my real podium motivation was seeing your face and so it worked!

FRONT ROW for Ava Florence in Jeddah. Her first time ever racing in this circuit and she stood up to the challenge. She was dazzling quick on the corners, helped by the ferocious corner speeds of her car. However, it was not enough for the coveted pole position. She got a taste of what it was like in Japan and she was hungry for more. Yet...
MAX VERSTAPPEN WAS ON POLE. It was tracks like these had Max found a rhythm in. So, it was a no brainer that Max secured his second pole in a row in such a fashion. Sure, this season was going for him as well as he wanted. Perhaps this could be the turning point for him. Whatever this race will become, this is a nice first step for Verstappen's conquest for his fifth.

AFTER LAST RACE Ava slid into her gridslot with a pound of pressure on her shoulder. She still has the lead off Lando, but it's never enough. Not until the flags fall and she's hailed as the World Champion will it be enough. So as she gets positioned on the front row, she takes a peering gaze at the orange car lining behind.
HENRY Ava, we've got Max ahead. We think he's on the same strategy as us so stick close to him.
"Welcome to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in 2025. Another race under the lights and so far, this track has give us nothing but action. Since its introduction we've got 3 different race winners. Max Verstappen is looking to keep it to three winners. He starts on pole. Let's have a look at this circuit. 50 laps on high-flying 6.17 km circuit, the lap record set by Lewis Hamilton in 2021. On the grid, it's Verstappen on pole followed by Ava Florence and then Lando Norris. But the dark horse here is Sebastian Vettel, looking for some redemption after what happened to him in Bahrain."
"And he'll certainly need it. McLaren are just three points behind Porsche. They benefited hugely from Russell crashing in Bahrain, who, by the way, is down in 16th after receiving his penalty."
"It's sure to be an exciting race, Martin, as now we've got five lights... and IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Good start by Max Verstappen, better start by Ava Florence. She's already zipping past the side. Behind Norris lost out on position from Sebastian Vettel and we've got a hayfield down and— OH we've got a big crash! That looks like an Alpine. And yes, it is... up ahead, Florence has already passed Verstappen. And now there's a safety car."
"Having another look at this. Yes, it's Jack Doohan and Isack Hadjar running into each other at the start. So both cars are stranded on the track so that's why the safety car was brought out."
"And that's not going to be great for Jack Doohan. There were rumors that he was to replaced after this race if he wasn't to perform. If that's the case, then we might not see Jack Doohan in the next round."
"Just unfortunate fate. It wasn't really anybody's fault. A racing incident, I think."
LAP 6:
"And after four laps behind the safety car, we're about to head back racing. Ava Florence will be leading the pack. She took the lead early from Verstappen. Here is the safety car coming in and... BACK RACING WE GO! Florence has a good restart, but Verstappen has a better one. They barrel into Turn 1, side by side, Verstappen on the outside. He gets past Florence. Verstappen regains his lead op Lap 5. Behind, it's still Vettel holding up Norris as how the threat of Charles Leclerc is rising."
"Florence couldn't do anything about that restart. She had a good line, but Verstappen was just much quicker out the exit. But if this has shown us anything is that Ava isn't going to back away even from the defending champion."
LAP 13:
"Out the DRS zone, Ava Florence gets right on Verstappen's gearbox. Oh dear, almost clips her front wing. Now, she's going to dive down the inside of the hairpin at Turn 27. She's pushing Verstappen wide and off she goes. Florence regains the lead of the Saudia Arabian Grand Prix. Magnificent stuff."
HENRY That's a good overtake, Ava. Let's now try to stay out as much as we can.
"It's only her first year, Crofty, but we've seen a very big improvement in her racecraft. When she overtakes, it's a bold and brave overtake, but she's very calculated with now. In Australia she was just sending her car at every moment she could so that caught her up in a lot of incidents. But now, she's timing her perfect chance. She waited 8 laps for this overtake."
LAP 19:
"Here's Sebastian Vettel coming into the pits. Both Porsche's started off with medium tires and Sebastian will go on the hard compounds. So, as expected, it's going to a one stopper. Florence still leading the race, but now Verstappen and Lando are in the mix as Lando has some clean air to try and get to Verstappen."
LAP 21:
"Norris and Verstappen. The two front runners for 2024, how battling for P2 in Jeddah in 2025. Red Bull has the speed on these fast corners, but Norris is much faster on the straights. He's going to get into the DRS zone and now it might be Norris who gets past Verstappen - No, Verstappen holds his own."
LAP 27:
"All this fighting between Verstappen and Norris is going great for Ava Florence. She's pumping fastest lap after fastest lap. She's ten seconds clear of the grid. Back with Norris, we ride on board as they sail through Turn 12. Wonderful shot of two cars here under lights as they wrap around Turn 13. Norris is just getting closer and closer. Very tricky portion of the track we head down to now."
"Verstappen has to just to keep racing like normal because it's not the easiest to overtake at Jeddah, especially on this sector. So Norris is going to have a hard time-"
"Hard time, but certainly not a long time. Norris tries to make the move down the inside, doesn't work- Oh, they have contact. And it's Norris going very slowly. Looks like he as puncture. That late lunge on Verstappen costed him heavily and now Sebastian Vettel is sailing past him. He moves into P3."
"And Norris is going to have to come into the pits. He might have just thrown away a prime podium position and given even more momentum to his championship rival who's leading the race."
HENRY Okay. Lando has a puncture. Lando has a picture. Kill 'em Ava.
"Kill 'em Ava. That's a new one."
"I think that's their way of saying 'push as much as you can, we're coming into the pits next lap.' We've seen many different ones before. But that is unique."
"Almost ominous even."
LAP 28:
"It is Ava Florence AND Max Verstappen both heading into the pits. Let's see... solid pitstop by Porsche. Ava's going to come just behind her teammate, but oh dear, what's happened with Red Bull. It's a slow stop."
"It looked like the right rear wheel had trouble coming off. So that's a terrible stop for Max. He was already behind Ava. He's going to even further behind Vettel."
FLORENCE Can I race Seb?
HENRY Yes, Ava. You can race Sebastian.
RUDI Seb, just to let you know, you can race Ava. So watch behind.
"Looks like we're going to a little teammate battle. We haven't been able to see much of that yet. Let's see how these two juggernauts battle it out. The rookie and the legend."
LAP 35:
"Ava, on the fresher tire, on the faster tire compounds. We're going to see offensive masterclass by her or a defensive showstopper by Sebastian Vettel. And down the DRS straight, Florence is on the attack. She makes the lunge to the outside of Turn 1. Not quite enough distance covered there. Don't look away yet folks. They separated by no less than inches of paint on their cars. Turn 4, once again, Ava Florence on the outside. Vettel, squeezing her out. Ava, so blindingly close to the wall! She has to back out! Vettel still in the lead. The 37 year old has years of experience under his belt. It's a new track, but not a new feeling for Sebastian Vettel."
"Good try by Ava, but like you said, Crofty, Vettel just has years of experience and it's showing as he's defending Ava beautifully."
"It's a tremendous battle between these two silver cars. Now, I don't want to jinx it, but the last thing that Porsche wants is for both of them to crash and lose this 1-2 they have. But Porsche seems to have great trust in both their drivers."
LAP 37:
"Okay, so, at the stage where we're going to be passing back markers on the grid. There's Lance Stroll being given the blue flag and he gets out of the way of his former teammate, Sebastian Vettel. They head down into Turn 10, it's Sebastian Vettel still in the lead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix."
"Florence is also there, but she's a bit behind Stroll. It's not enough for them to wave the blue flag apparently. So that's working in Vettel's forever."
HENRY Okay, Ava. We need to get past Stroll.
FLORENCE Are they color blind? Why are the blue flags not there?
"I do agree with her. The blue flags should be there. They were almost immediate for Vettel, but not so much for Florence. And Stroll doesn't have any intention of giving away this position. As they almost collide in Turn 17. So, that Porsche is just miles faster than the Aston Martin, it's just no enough space to overtake unless Stroll moves out of the way."
"Yup, and here they are Martin. Finally the blue flags have been waved and Stroll moves out for Ava Florence."
FLORENCE I need to have a long conversation with Papa Stroll about this driver.
LAP 50:
"It is a monumental weekend for Porsche. They have done everything right. And so as this man right here. Sebastian Vettel, two years out of the sport, he hasn't lost his touch. It's a new track, but a old feeling as SEBASTIAN VETTEL WINS THE SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX! THE FOURTH DIFFERENT RACE WINNER IN 2025! Behind Ava Florence crosses second and it is the first 1-2 by a team this season. That team being Porsche."
"Phenomenal race by both drivers. Fantastic strategy calls and overall, you saw the result of their efforts as Max Verstappen comes down to round out the podium. Brilliant."
FLORENCE That's the best I could do.
HENRY That's okay, Ava. That's exactly what we needed here.
FLORENCE Congrats to Seb tho. Love ya!
RUDI And that is a race win, Sebastian!
VETTEL YES! THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT'S AMAZING!

SAUDI ARABIA POST RACE INTERVIEW
Interviewer: Sebastian, welcome to your first race win of the season. Is this bringing back some feelings?
Seb: Yes, it's amazing. It's good to be back in Formula 1. My job was to help the team out, get from the ground running. But also to compete. I miss the feeling of fighting for wins and we did that today. Incredible day for the team, and... for Ava, she did amazing. A Porsche 1-2. I couldn't be happier.
Ava: Before you ask anything, I have a question for you. Did Seb flirt with you?
Interviewer: No, not at all.
Ava: Good because I call dibs.
Interview: Alright. Okay, I guess. So this your fifth straight podium. You're getting early close to beating Hamilton in his rookie year. He got nine in a row. Was this the start you were expecting in Formula 1?
Ava: Absolutely not. Obviously it was a goal. To compete for a championship at one point. And coming into the first two races, I just trying to enjoy my time here. I'm still doing that, but I think now I'm a bit more focused on the championship and today, it was a good performance. Obviously very though to pass Seb on this track, but happy with the results.
Interviewer: So Max, after getting pole position you had a bit of a scrap with Florence before eventually having to settle for third. A bit of a disappointment this weekend for you?
Max: Yeah obviously, we were looking for a strong result out of pole. On the start, a bit slow, couldn't get the tires to respond properly and then Ava caught me by surprise and took it. Not great, but still good to be on the podium. Get as many points as possible.

BAHRAIN GP, crashing hot mess

It's time for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Round 4 kicks off the second race of this triple header.
see comments below
florence4ever: Ava coming into this GP with a big lead is just what she needs
> greenbanana: hopefully that podium streak continues
madmax: Max has been fast all of practice. Please Max string it together 🙏
bbisbroke: Ferrari please step up your game! Lewis needs his 8th 🏆
> team44: As much as I love LH, Ava is having a much stronger season right now.
youtube.com
Porsche F1: Ava or Duds
Admin: Welcome, Ava, to your first challenge for the Porsche YouTube channel. We've got a set of quotes and you have to tell if you said that or we made it up. Ready?
"I feel I'm about to be real exposed right here. I don't where to went to find some of these, but sure. Let's do this."
"Someone get this guys eyes checked. He's driving like he's seeing colors for the first time."
"Oh that's definitely me. It was like in my F3 days or something. Don't remember the guy I said it to."
Admin: Correct.
"This isn't driving on rain, this is ice!"
"That doesn't sound like me. I would never come about the rain. It's rain too much in Belgium for me to hate it."
Admin: That is correct. It's not you.
"If I see another damn backmarker on this lap, I'm going to crash into them."
"Hah. That definitely sounds like something I would say, but I don't think I said that one."
Admin: Correct.
"My biggest fear in the world is garlic getting in my nails when I cook."
"... That's not me, is it? There's no way I said something as stupid as that."
Admin: That actually is you.
"What? When did I say that?... I mean, yeah, I definitely do think that's annoying cause when you cut or grate garlic it has their weird texture that stick to everything and digs between your... Damn, I think I did say that. How the hell did you guys find that?"
SATURDAY'S are beginning to look like hell for Ava. She has the pace, the raw pace, to put this car on pole every time. But every time something goes wrong. In Australia it was the setup, in China it was the whole car. Somehow she managed to bag pole in Japan, but here in Bahrain her chances of pole were looking bleak.
MAX VERSTAPPEN was on fire the entire weekend. Bahrain always favored the Red Bull cars and Max was a driver who could drag a tractor to the podium. Though surprisingly, he had not gotten a single on this year. So Bahrain was redemption for the Dutch. He set the fastest laps in all three sessions, bagging pole by more than two tenths of a second. His old rival, Charles Leclerc, was right behind him. Charles had beaten Max on this track before. And he was looking to do it again.
WHERE WERE THE PORSCHES? Well, Vettel had managed to slide up into P4 after Russel slid wide in Turn 3. Florence was down in P6 however. No biggie. It could've been worse. What's the worst that could happen on race day?

Quite a mixup for Qualifying. What does Sunday have in store?

heavyoncopium: Ava Florence to come from P6 to the dub 🥇
ava_fan_12: Ava Florence's race pace is insane. P6 today, P1 tomorrow. Let's goooo!! 🚀
> f1fanatic24: This is her year!! P6 today, P1 on Sunday 💪🔥

FLORENCE HAS THE LEAD of the championship. With 2 wins and a podium in every race so far, she's been consistently at the top. But the world of F1 never seems to make it easy for Ava and she knows it. P6 would be a fine condition for any top tier driver like Ava. But this was just the beginning of her test.
"Welcome to Bahrain International Circuit where we kick off Round 4 to this already eventful championship. Let's have a look. We've got 57 laps ahead of us here under night lights. 5.41 is the track length. And the lap record set by Pedro de la Rosa in 2005. On the grid, we've got Max Verstappen starting on pole. He's won twice in a row in Bahrain. 2023 and 2024. He's looking to make it three times."
"Yup, tracks like these certainly favor the Red Bull as they've got both cars in the top ten. So Liam Lawson has a great opportunity to score some big points today."
"That great number of points we'll see as we've got five lights on... AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Immediately, a quick start by Florence. She catches Russell napping on the start. Behind, Norris trying to make a move on Leclerc as they head down into turn and OH RUSSEL LOCKS UP HIS BRAKES AND THERE'S IMMEDIATELY CONTACT WITH SEBASTIAN VETTEL!  LECLERC IS ALSO CAUGHT UP IN THE MIX AND IT LOOKS THEY'RE OUT OF THE RACE!"
"So that's Russel, Leclerc, and Vettel all effectively out of the race. They've all hit the barriers as Max sails on ahead. And where's Ava?"
"She's down in 17th, Martin. It appears she might have also been caught up in that accident... and yes, she has. Her front wing has been damaged. So she's going to need to pit. That is not the start she would've wanted. The championship leader, effectively dead last as the Racing Bull passes her. Up ahead, it's still Max Verstappen leading the race. Now with Norris behind him. So the both of them got cleanly away from the damage. And Norris benefits hugely from because he's up to P2 and his championship rival is down in last. Nothing could be better for Norris here."
FLORENCE I've got damage! Front wing.
HENRY Understood. Bring it into the pits as soon as you can.
FLORENCE This absolutely bloody idiot.
LAP 2:
"Here is Ava Florence coming into pits. She going to change her front wing. At least the good news for her is, instead having to overtake 21 drivers to win, she only needs 18 as Vettel, Leclerc, and Russell are out of the race."
LAP 5:
"Here comes the first of her victims. Yuki Tsunoda just having no pace here in Bahrain. Coming into Turn 3, Florence had the DRS and that was really no competition."
LAP 9:
"Verstappen comes into the pits. He's going to be coming for a set of new soft tires. Norris is now leading the Grand Prix. But I have a feeling he won't have that lead for very long."
"I think so too. Let's have a look at where Ava is. She's gotten past some of these drivers that are coming into the pits. But now here she is side-by-side with Gabriel Bortoleto. These two have given us some amazing battles before."
"Through Turn 10, Bortoleto remains ahead, but Ava has the DRS, she has the slipstream. She's going to try around the outside in Turn 11. Full throttle up into 12 and now it's Ava with the inside line. She'll get the move to stick on Bortoleto."
"Just superb racing from both drivers. Bortoleto was keen on not giving up that place, but Florence was just hounding through the entire sector to get it. And just about gets her through. Tremendous stuff between the Audi and Porsche."
LAP 13:
"From one rookie to another, Ava Florence lunges into Turn 1 on Antonelli and moves up ahead into P11. So, that's already 8 places she's covered. Florence is just on fire."
"Antonelli didn't stand much of a chance therd, did he? Just kind sat there as she took the inside line. Goes to show how powerful that DRS is on that Porsche."
"Indeed, Martin, and as now — once again — Ava going for the overtake. She dives into the inside for Turn 8, around the hairpin, brilliant overtaking and she gets past Alex Albon. That's two positions in one lap."
LAP 18:
"Ava Florence comes in her for her pit stop. So does Lando Norris. Both of these drivers on the longer end of the soft compound tires. We see it'll be the hard compounds for Norris and for Ava... that'll be the softs again. So she will be going for the medium tires on her final stint."
"Definitely an interesting choice considering Norris lasted about the same amount of time on these tires. Now we'll see whose strategy works out better. McLaren or Porsche."
LAP 20:
"We're onboard with Ava Florence chasing down Oscar Piastri as they exit Turn 4. Ava gets the speed out of the corner. She's right on Piastri's tail. Could this be another overtake for Florence? No, not yet. She backs up on the hairpin. But now, as they cross the DRS detection zone, Florence will have the DRS. Sharp turn and down the straight they go. Florence with the DRS, she's in slipstream, she pulls out and it's another overtake for Florence! She's up in P9."
"Yeah, once again, brilliant move. I think she just very good awareness of the track. She knows where the DRS zones are, so shes braking to behind Piastri so she gets the DRS and not him. Very smart overtaking by her."
LAP 24:
"So far, things have gone quite well for the Porsche after their catastrophic start. Vettel is out of the race, but Florence is up into the points. She's staring down the back of Fernando Alonso as they come down the main straight to begin Lap 24. Florence has the DRS... Just a little too far back though. Doesn't get an opportunity into Turn 1."
"She's going to be really close to him into Turns 3 and 4. Florence again has the DRS. She's closing in the gap even more. Tucks her car on the outside of the hairpin-"
"Ooo, so close they are together. Alonso and Florence, side-by-side, who is going to get the push. Alonso trying to squeeze her out, but Florence just gets ahead! She moves up into P8! Brilliant!"
"That's a very tough overtake to make. Around the outside into Turn 4, never leave the throttle once after the exit and narrowly avoid a crash. That's just beautiful racing from two talented drivers."
"That was Fernando Alonso and Ava Florence. Ironic, isn't it? We've Florence take some Fernando's iconic celebrations. I wonder if she'll do another one if she gets to the podium this race."
"Well, the chances are looking strong for her. Blinding pace. Let's see where she goes from here."
LAP 29:
"Alright, our second set of pitstops are beginning as Hamilton comes into the pits for a fresh set of hard tires. Hamilton, not really finding a good grove in those soft tires in his first stint, but did in his second. So hopefully it'll be prime time for him to gain some valuable points in Bahrain."
"Ferrari need him to perform badly, too, with Leclerc out of the race and he's going to come just behind Florence. So, let's see what she's doing."
"Well, Martin, Florence is still out on her second stint. She did drag her tires longer than everybody else and we've her extend the life of grip throughout the race before. Right now, she wants to overtake Liam Lawon in that Red Bull."
LAP 31:
"My goodness she's fast Martin. Two laps ago, the gap was 2.3 seconds. She's cut it down to just about a second. She's going got get DRS on this main straight and all of a sudden, she's right there. Liam Lawson is definitely going to see her in mirrors."
"She is super fast on these tires. Lawson has already done his second pitstop for hard tires, but Florence is still finding a stronger pace than him. It reminds a bit of Kimi Raikkonen in his hay days. How he would just find tremendous pace anywhere on the track? If that's just the beginning of Ava's development, then she's got a wonderful career ahead of her."
"Indeed so, Martin. Only 19 years old, a rookie no less, and atop the championship charts. Last time we saw this was with Lewis Hamilton, but uh, Lewis couldn't quite get the championship that year. Maybe Ava will be the first."
LAP 32:
"Back onto the main straight to start a new lap. Florence with DRS, she's in prime position for the overtake - DIVES INTO THE INSIDE... MAKES IT STICK! And it's goodbye to the Redbull and hello to the podium for Porsche!"
LAP 42:
"Everything has gone quite swimmingly for Ava here. She managed to extend that gap to Lawson quite a bit. And now she's coming into the pits..."
"Norris and Vertsappen are just a little too far off for her to catch up with these older tires. So she's gonna have a crack at it with these these fresher mediums."
LAP 47:
"Is that who I think it is, Martin? It's Ava Florence behind Lando Norris. She's cut down that gap significantly. So that pit for the medium compounds definitely helped as she's found tremendous pace here in Bahrain and with 7 laps to go, she's looking to take P2 for herself against her championship rival."
"So, her streak of podiums is going to continue, isn't it. This is going to be four podiums in a row for her compared to Lando's one. I think that's where majority of the lead came from. Just her consistency."
LAP 49:
"Down the main straight, the start of Lap 49. Florence less than a second behind Norris. Gets the DRS. Norris is going to have a hard time defending on these older tires. And Florence just cuts down that gap even more! Down into Turns 2 and 3 they go. Another DRS zone. Florence is looking to make the move stick on the hairpin as she's done before. TRIES THE INSIDE - LANDO COVERS - OUT THE OUTSIDE SHE GOES. NOT ENOUGH. Lando holds on."
...
"Third DRS zone in Bahrain. Ava once again lunges to the outside, is going to try to convert this to the inside, but Lando just has that extra inch of space to cut her off into Turn 13."
LAP 50:
"The laps are counting down for the Belgian driver. I'm sure both drivers are feeling the pressure at this point. One driver who isn't: Max Verstappen. Lead the race since pole till now. He's five seconds ahead of both drivers. He's going to very comfortable-
"Sorry to cut you off Crofty, but Florence tries to overtake down the inside of the hairpin again, but locks her brakes, goes too far ahead and doesn't make the turn in time. So, still behind Lando."
"Very interesting stuff to see here and that's going to help Lando as the gap between them as extended slightly."
LAP 53:
"This is all she has. The final lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Lando. Ava. Separated by three tenths of a second. Hard on the brakes into Turn 1. Into Turns 2 and 3 they go. Martin, can she do it?"
"That's the million dollar question, isn't it? Second DRS zone, Ava's pouncing on Lando. No attempt at the overtake in Turn 4, but I think she's looking for another DRS zone. Minor left hand turn and then the fast right-to-left sections in sector 2. Crossing the DRS detection zone into Turn 9, and the tricky Turn 10-"
"Lando's skirts a bit on the exit. You saw him try to readjust his steering and that's just what Ava likes to see as she's pouncing on the DRS. Side by side they go. We've seen song and dance before, Martin, AVA HAS THE INSIDE LINE IN TURN 12 BUT LANDO IS GOING NO WHERE. THEY SO CLOSE. AVA JUST AN INCH BEHIND HIM. SHE TUCKS IN HIS SLIPSTREAM FOR THE FINAL STRAIGHT - TURN 14 - AVA LUNGES TO THE INSIDE. ENOUGH SPACE FOR HER TO TRY. SIDE BY SIDE THEY ARE DOWN ON THE FINAL STRAIGHT. THE CHECKERED FLAG AS FALLEN. VERSTAPPEN AS ALREADY CROSSED. BUT IT'S ABOUT AVA AND LANDO AND NO! IT'S NOT ENOUGH FOR THE PORSCHE! SHE CROSSES THE LINE JUST A HUNDRETH OF A SECOND BEHIND LANDO."
"What a nail-biter? Down until the checkered flag she stayed on the side of Lando. You really didn't know if she was going to get ahead until the flag fell. Tremendous."
"I'm sure for Lando, but Ava will not be too happy about that. Podium still, but not the exact position she wanted."
FLORENCE F***. I'm sorry.
HENRY That's still P3, Ava. Tremendous work.

BAHRAIN POST RACE INTERVIEW
Interviewer: Max, third year running you've been the winner at Bahrain, but this is your first win and podium of the season. Can you tell us about that?
Max: Yeah, I mean, the first couple of races, I didn't the car that much pace to even qualify for the podium. Obviously a bit frustrating for the team, but then we were able to do something good today and I'm sure it'll be a massive boost for everyone.
Interviewer: Lando, congrats on your second place finish, but you were very close to loosing it. What happened there?
Lando: Don't really know too much to be honest. I thought I had a comfortable lead until I started seeing Ava in my mirrors. So, it was just a tough battle. She was very quick out there, but we managed to hold out until the end.
Interviewer: Ava, you had a rollercoaster of a race, first with the accident at the beginning of the race and then to almost taking P2 on the final corner. Can you tell us more?
Ava: You know I'm really glad you're here because at least I can look at something pretty while I'm sulking. Yeah, it was a tough race. Seb was taken about my this walking torpedo and then I had damage so I was basically last on the grid. We made some changes to our strategy to big thanks to the team for that. And then yeah just frustrating at the end. So close to a P2 finish but Lando just held it out. I should be happy with the results, but I'm not. But whatever. We'll see what we can do next round.

missingkimi: Porsche is serving and I'm here for it 🙌🙌 Let's get that dub, Ava!! 🏆
> delulu: This is gonna be legendary. Ava + Seb + Porsche + Suzuka = magic 🔮✨
SUZUKA QUALIFYING — always a THRILL! Predictable? Perhaps — but never lacking excitement! The Red Bulls, as expected, rocketed to the top five in sector one. And who could ignore Aston Martin? Fernando Alonso surged forward, squeezing into Q2 — and then squeezing again into Q3! But the McLarens, despite a few struggles, retained the formidable pace they brought to Suzuka last year.
AND THEN — a shocker! Yuki Tsunoda, for the Racing Bulls, unleashed a magical performance. P3! A staggering two-tenths clear of Max Verstappen! WOW! As if that wasn't enough, Sebastian Vettel — YES, in that Porsche — grabbed P2! A redemption arc after his misfortunes in China. Now perched on the front row for the Japanese Grand Prix.
YET ALL EYES were on Eva Florence — the hometown hero. She dominated practice—Friday sessions one, two, and three. Can she extend her reign to qualifying?
"Here we are, ladies and gentlemen, riding on board with Ava Florence. She's been past all the sessions. Let's see what she makes it off it in this lap."
"Indeed, Crofty, as she comes down the main straight... and we begin her lap. Burst down the main straight. Power into the first curve — mid-corner deceleration. Navigate the tight right curve with finesse. Now into Turn 3 — a high-speed left kink — preparing for Suzuka's iconic S's."
"Turn4, Turn 5, Turn 6 — the S curves! Left, right, left — a dance for the brave, and Ava doesn't flinch once. Just look at the grip she gets in these corners."
"Absolutely crucial for this track. Into the Dunlop curve, that fast left bend—gathering speed. Then to the uphill portion, then a slow-speed right hand kink—careful with the gravel on exit! Through the Degner One and on to Degner Two—the track tightens, but she releases—gorgeous exit through Turn 9."
"She's done beautiful so far. Under the bridge now—flashing! Turn 10, flat out! Turn 11, hard on the brakes—a hairpin, delicate but executed with mastery.
"Swooping through Turn 12, a full-throttle right-hand bend—approaching the Spoon Curve, Turns 13 and 14. Brakes, drift: this double-left, a challenge! She skirts peril, just right."
"And TURN 13 — the ICONIC 130R — with the pedal to the metal! All sectors LIGHT UP PURPLE — SHE'S FLYING! Into the Casio Chicane — a deceleration dance: third gear, left, right, left, right!Relentless, furious — and now, across the LINE! AVA FLORENCE HAS JUST TAKEN HER FIRST POLE POSITION F1 HISTORY! — WHAT A LAP! What a moment for the rookie — the hometown hero writes her own legend at Suzuka!"
HENRY And that's pole for Sunday. What a lap.
FLORENCE HAH! YES! Unbelievable! Thank you so much!

IT'S SUNDAY. The adrenaline is high - the FORMULA 1 JAPAN GRAND PRIX is about to ignite. 22 drivers, engines roaring, lined up on the grid. The third round of the Championship calls! Ava Florence is comfortable in P2 in the championship, but she's even more comfortable knowing she's on pole and her main championship rival is down in P5.
PORSCHE ecstatic - a FRONT ROW LOCKOUT! They're hungry to convert this golden opportunity. Meanwhile, Red Bull aims to reclaim glory, propelled by the unexpected charge from Liam Lawson breaking into the top 10. A big ask from him, especially since Yuki Tsunoda, the man he took the Red Bull, shines brightly in P3!
"Ava, Ava."
"Martin! About damn time I get interviewed by you."
"It's a been some time. But it's here. How's it feel? On the verge of glory in your home country, second in the Championship, but so close to the crest? A win today could flip the standings for you."
"Oh, Martin, it's amazing! Belgium is the country in my heart, but I can't forget about Japan. I love every time I come here. I love the fans, I love the country. My first pole here...it's a dream. The Championship tables? Honestly, I didn't think too much about it until the engineers at Porsche told me. But Lando in P5? It's great. I've got my own script today."
"But Eva, the elation of a hometown victory, how will it feel to cross P1? Your second win, a jubilant homecoming?"
"Every win is amazing, Martin. But this one is a bit more so. To take this one, with my family watching, it'd be indescribable. Emotional? Yes. Tearful? No, maybe not today - but if there's a place for tears, it's Spa."
"Well, we'll certainly look forward to seeing this race. Good luck to you."
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the electrifying Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka! The SUN is SHINING, the sky's clear, and we've 53 laps of hard, gritty racing ahead of us. Let's dive into this iconic track... One DRS ZONE sets the stage on this 5.8-kilometer circuit. 307 kilometers in total length. And the lap record, set by Lewis Hamilton in 2019, 1:30.983. Alright, Martin, let's get this race started. It's five lights in Suzuka... AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO!!! AVA FLORENCE ROCKETS off the line—a perfect start. Vettel and Tsunoda give chase. Verstappen behind. Lando loses out on his position to Fernando Alonso. Alonso is breathing down Verstappen's neck."
"It's a battle royale behind. That was the perfect start by Florence. Just stick it and drive. No need to play defensive. You've got your teammate behind you acting as rear gunner. Just make it through the first corner."
"Eva Florence is FLYING, the gap stretched to three tenths. Sebastian Vettel is protecting her hard, holding off Yuki Tsunoda. Oh, there's Russell—taking on Hamilton! The former teammates. Side by side into Turn 11—Hamilton HOLDS! Russell backs out neededly, and now he's got Charles Leclerc in his mirror. Leclerc—after a poor qualifying—he's CLIMBING! We've seen his comebacks in Australia, in China—what can he do here?"
"Hard braking at the spoon curve. Russsell goes wide, Leclerc hits the apex. Russel just too much on the curbs and Leclerc gets the better exit. He's up to P10."
"Here we as the drivers begin the third sector. Ava Florence still far and away the leader, but the gap between Tsunoda and Vettel has lessened. Tsunoda showed great pace in qualifying and now he's staring down the back of the four time world champion. There go through 130R. There's Russell trying Leclerc. Both drivers flat-out. And the Mercedes has that speed on the fast corners. Russel back into P10."
LAP 3:
"It's the battle that people saw a portion of in 2023. Let's see if we get more this season. Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen. Fernando makes the lunge into the first corner, tight on the inside line. They're side by side. Can Fernando squeeze ahead? Yes he can! Fernando is put to P4, but here's Verstappen, trying to regain the position on the outside. He does. Max remains P4."
"So already we're seeing some back and forth action here. No driver in this circuit wants to give up their position as here comes Sainz on Hadjar."
"Isack Hadjar has not been able to recreate the same magic as his teammate. That car is not the best for this track, but you would think he would get more out of it considering we're Tsunoda is at. And Jack Doohan, for the second race running, is towards the back of the grid."
"There have been rumors going around that Doohan's contract is potentially only for five races. No confirmation whatsoever, but if it is true, this is certainly not the results Alpine wants."
LAP 13:
HENRY Okay, Ava. This is where we're going to potentially see some drivers coming in. Let's try to extend this stint as much as possible.
"There is Ava Florence told to extend these tires as much as you can. She is on the C3 compounds here, so she could be running a one-stop strategy."
"That certainly seems like it. Especially since she doesn't seem to be losing any time. Perhaps Porsche is looking to get her out as long as possible on these soft tyres and then just run it through until everyone pits the second time."
"Yup. That seems to be the plan for that Porsche, but not for Sebastian Vettel. He comes into the pitstop. So now, Yuki Tsunoda is up to second place. And the Japanese fans go wild as they have two home town features leading the race. Ava Florence and Yuki Tsunoda."
"Now that Tsunoda has that free air, I wonder if he'll be able to catch up to that Porsche or if she's too far away for this stint. Vettel comes out of the pits. Not a bad stop. He's in P6."
LAP 15:
"And it's a battle in the pitsotps between Verstappen and Hamilton. Hamilton gets out a bit earlier, but it's anybody's game who's gonna make the jump into Turn 1. Is Verstappen feeling ambitious? No, he remains cautious."
LAP 19:
"There's Leclerc in the pits. He'll change for a fresh set of hard tires. Comes out P8."
"Yes, that's interesting, but Ava Florence has still not pitted. Yuki Tsunoda has. He came out in P6 earlier. But Florence looks she's committed to the one stop. And he'll be a mighty one stop if she can make it work."
LAP 25:
"Ava Florence finally comes in for her pit stop. She's made these soft tires run for a long while and now she'll put on a new pair of hard compounds. Oh, but what's this?"
"The right here wheel had trouble being put on! The gun just got stuck there. And that's a bad pitstop for Florence. They were expecting to come ahead of Verstappen, but instead they're going to behind Hamilton."
FLORENCE How are we behind Hamilton?
HENRY Keep calm, Ava. We're still the only one on the one-stop.
"It's going to be a game of patience for Ava Florence as she's gonna wait for all these drivers in front of her to make their second pitstop. In the lead, Yuki Tsunoda a second ahead of Verstappen. What a race he's having!"
LAP 29:
"And there comes Lewis Hamilton jumping at Lawson on the Casio chicane. He'll get the inside line and it's Hamilton ahead on the main straight! That Red Bull was faster than Ferrari on this track, but Hamilton has the experience to pull away from Lawson."
LAP 32:
"Verstappen is the first of the top ten into the pits for this second stint. He'll give up that position to Fernando Alonso, who now, will be attacking his former rival, Sebastian Vettel."
"A great many battles these two have shared. Let's see if Fernando can close that gap and we can see some overtaking."
"Ava Florence. It's going smoothly for her. She passes Lawson on the straight. The DRS gave her a nice boost to get into P5."
HENRY You're doing great. Hamilton ahead has not pitted.
FLORENCE Should I try to overtake?
HENRY Negative.
FLORENCE But I'm loosing time.
HENRY Tsunoda is within pit window. No need to rush.
"It seems you were right, Martin. Porsche is playing a very patient game here."
LAP 35:
"And here comes Hamilton into the pits. So, now, Ava moves up another position. She'll be right behind Piastri, who's going for a longer second stint. And then she'll have to wait for Vettel and Tsunoda to make their pits too."
HENRY Okay, Ava. You can push.
"Very interesting to see what she'll make of it."
LAP 37:
"Oscar Piastri into to the pits. So it's another easy move up for Ava Florence. Now she's chasing Sebastian Vettel. He's been dragging these tires longer, hasn't he?"
"He has. So we're expecting if he does stop, he'll probably go on the soft compounds at the end of the race. For now, let's see how much Ava catches up."
LAP 39:
"Ava Florence has caught up to a second behind her teammate. She will be in that DRS zone as we come down the straight. She's picking up speed, but Vettel has a comfortable gap not be overtaken yet. Through the S's it's Vettel and Florence, the two Porsche inches apart. When will Florence make the move? It's now — she's gonna emerge on the outside of Turn 7. They're side by side, but Vettel forces her back. She switches over, dives down the inside of Turn 8 and MAKES IT STICK! Ava Florence with a beautiful move passes her teammate."
"That was a good read by Florence. She knew the outside wasn't going to work in Degner 1, just wasn't fast enough. So she moved over to the inside to get the apex before Vettel. Superb driving."
"Certainly she's been on fire all weekend and now she's going to have good, comfortable gaze at Yuki Tsunoda who has to pit."
LAP 42:
"Yuki Tsunoda can just about see Florence in his rea-view mirrors and what must he be thinking? He's leading his home Grand Prix, but his Japanese counterpart is looking to snatch that home victory for herself. Down the main straight, Florence has DRS. She's closing in that gap."
"Tsunoda has to be careful here. I'm sure his engineers have warned him about Sector 2, just how flying she is on this middle portion of the track."
"Down the inside of Turn 8 she goes once again, but from too far back on the grid. Doesn't get it. Tsunoda skids on the entry to Turn 8. Florence closes in further. She knows she can get on the hairpin, just has to get there.
HENRY Okay, Ava. No need to overtake Tsunoda. He has yet to pit.
FLORENCE Yeah, but satisfaction.
"As they head past 10, Tsunoda is early on the breaks and that's just enough time for Florence to SQUEEZE THROUGH! Round the hairpin, smooth exit. And Ava Florence is leading the Grand Prix."
"She said she wanted that satisfaction of passing Tsunoda and boy how satisfying must that move be? That corner is very easy to get wrong but she just slides on in there."
LAP 53:
"And it is a masterclass for the Japanese hero. From start to finish, there was nothing that stood a threat in the face of this woman and now she'll see the checkered flag fall for her home race. AVA FLORENCE WINS THE JAPANESE GRAND PRIX!"
HENRY And that is win Ava!

CHINA GP, overrated?
masterlist
PORSCHE'S DEBUT had gone stunningly: a double points finish and a win in Australia. They were proud and comfortable to be leading the constructor's championship coming out of Australia. Better, they were beating Audi by miles. Their beef with the German manufacturer was still soft-launching. Neither side were willing to full out reveal their hatred for the other brand - after all, they were both owned by the same group - but something in Stuggart was telling them the time was approaching.

MONACO IS OVERRATED?? | FLORETTEL EPISODE ONE
Admin: Today, we're playing a game of This or That. I'm going to tell you two options and you're going to pick one side or the other. Ready?
RACE TRACKS or STREET CIRCUITS
Ava: Race tracks. Not a competition.
Seb: Street circuits are fun, but I'll have to go with race tracks.
MONACO or BRAZIL
Seb: Oh.. {intense nerdy Vettel thinking kicks in}. They're both iconic tracks. I'll go with Monaco. It's a tough race and a real testament to your skill.
Ava: ... I'm already going to get a lot of hate for this. I don't like Monaco all that well.
Seb: What?
Ava: Saturdays are amazing, but Sunday is a snooze-fest. Maybe you're different cause you raced in a different era, but no. You can't overtake anyone. It's so boring.
Seb: Still, it's that bad?
Ava: Compared to Sao Paolo, yes.
CHICANE or HAIR PIN
Seb: Chicane
Ava: Definitely Chicane. You can't go wrong with it. So many different overtakes can happen... or crashes if you're Max and Lewis.
Seb: Actually, I thought during Australia, when I was behind them, they were going to take each other out and I can pass on by.
Ava: Brocedes 2.0.

CHINESE GRAND PRIX: The anticipation builds as Formula 1 returns to Shanghai for the second round. Porsche had nothing but a stellar debut in F1. Now, everyone knows they're no longer the dark horse. They're the team to beat. And Audi would love nothing more than to best their German brethren. The team brought an excellent pace into Free Practice and after a terrible performance in Australia, they need jump into the points fast.
SQ1 kicked off with a flurry of activity as drivers rushed to set competitive times. Lando Norris immediately stamped his authority on the session, clocking a blistering 1:33.756. The surprise of the session came from the Audi garage, with Nico Hulkenberg and Felipe Drugovich (replacing the injured Borteleto) showing impressive pace, finishing P6 and P8 respectively.
MEANWHILE, trouble brewed in the Porsche camp. Sebastian Vettel struggled with balance issues, barely scraping through in P15. His teammate Ava Florence fared no better, complaining of understeer in the tight corners.
AVA The car's a handful in these slow sections.
HENRY Copy that, Ava. We're losing too much time in sector two We'll look at adjustments for SQ2.
SQ2 saw Lando Norris continue his dominance, lowering the benchmark to 1:33.403. The Audis shocked the paddock by maintaining their top-10 positions, with Hulkenberg even briefly holding P2 before being pushed down to P4. Drama unfolded as the checkered flag fell. Sebastian Vettel managed to sneak into SQ3 by the skin of his teeth, claiming P10 by just 0.021 seconds. Unfortunately for Ava Florence...
"We ride on board with last Grand Prix's winner, Ava Florence. Her first sector was not good... and her second sector will be even worse. Martin is what is happening?"
"Here is she comes hard on the brakes again from about 180mph to third gear, for a tight left-hande. Crofty, her car has been struggling in the slow corners. And so perhaps Porsche has found their first problem in F1. We saw how blazing fast she was in Australi's fast corners. Here, not so much."
"Indeed, Martin, and she approaches the biggest braking zone of the track, Turn 14. Spins the car around and fast through 15. She picked up some speed on the straights, but is it enough, slight brake into the final corner and.... NO! SHE DOES NOT! GREEN SECTOR, BUT IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE IT SQ3!"
HENRY Unfortunately, Ava, that is P11.
AVA F***! Sorry about that. This was a sh** session. Let's do better in the race.
SQ3 provided a thrilling climax to the qualifying session. Lando Norris completed his hat-trick of fastest times, securing sprint pole with a stunning 1:33.479. The real story, however, was Audi's remarkable performance. Nico Hulkenberg and Felipe Drugovich locked out the second row, qualifying P2 and P3 respectively, sending shockwaves through the paddock.

AVA SLID ON HER HELMET, and got seated in her striped Porsche. She was staring down her Porsche teammate and the McLaren papaya of Oscar Piastri once again. Except this time, it wasn't for the race win. She was in P11, and with only 8 positions get points, she had to make each of the 19 laps count. Lando was on pole, Audi had a 2-3. Everything seemed against the Porsche. It was getting to the point that people began to wonder.... was Porsche's first a fluke? No, Ava did not think so. She won that race. She knew she had the skills to win that race. She did not win it on luck.
"Welcome to the first sprint race of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Shanghai International Circuit. After an exciting qualifying session yesterday, we're set for a thrilling 100km dash. Let's take a look at our grid for today's sprint. We've got 16 corners to navigate for 19 laps. Your man on pole position, Lando Norris, for the second time in a row. Followed by the Audi pair of Nico Hulkenberg and Felipe Drugovich, who's filling in for his Brazilian counterpart Gabriel Bortoleto today."
"The Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton occupy row three, and I have to say, this is not the greatest start to their season. They were expecting big results this year, and they certainly did get that podium in Australia, but how many times can they rely on their drivers to cover up many places."
"We will have to see, Martin. And now, it's five lights here at Shanghai International Circuit. IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO... Norris gets a decent start. Hulkenberg gets a better one. Hulkenberg is right there with him. They're side by side into Turn 1, and it's the Audi that gets the better exit as Norris goes wide! Hulkenberg leads into Turn 2 and once again, Lando Norris will fail to capitalize on pole position."
"Certainly, I'm sure he would've improved it from last season. And behind Drugovich, Verstappen and Leclerc are immediately at each other's throats. The Red Bull dives to the inside at Turn 6, but Leclerc holds his line. Verstappen is holding up Hamilton, but he's seemingly falling. And Lawson is going to get a good chance to try and overtake him... Oh, a little too ambitious. Hamilton keeps position."
"Hamilton's driving a lot more defensively this season, not the kind the driving we usually see him do. Behind, Ava Florence lost a position to Antonelli. So, yes, that Porsche is indeed struggling on the first sector."
LAP 3:
TURN 13 - RUS passes LAW on the inside, taking P7
LAP 7:
TURN 11: HAD divebombs STR, taking P20
LANDO NORRIS SETS FASTEST LAP : GAP TO P1 + 1.240
LAP 10:
"Verstappen makes another attempt on Leclerc. He gets a great exit from Turn 13, uses DRS down the long back straight. Leclerc defends the inside, BUT VERSTAPPEN GOES AROUND THE OUTSIDE. Incredible racing from both drivers, but Verstappen sees it through. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri is all over the back of Sebastian Vettel's Porsche. Seb had a great start, but that McLaren is showing great pace for today."
"That's the difference that experience makes. Piastri is sure is fast, but Seb is holding him down beautifully. Oh, but he's right there. They're inches apart coming into Turn 6."
VETTEL Something doesn't feel right with the engine. I'm losing power on the straights.
RUDI Understood, Seb. We're looking into it. Just keep Piastri at bay.
"Looks like Vettel is having some engine problems. That's exactly what McLaren loves to hear. Oscar Piastri is gonna make his lunge soon... He's so close. He's just waiting, biding his time until Seb's engine gives up."
"I don't think he knows Seb is having engine problems yet. He's still racing him hard on these corners..."
"As Sebastian Vettel begins to slow down, Oscar Piastri gets through easily. Vettel losing speed. Antonelli moves forward, Florence moves forward. It's all going wrong for Vettel here in China."
RUDI Seb, we need to retire the car. Box this lap, please. Box this lap.
"And that is Sebastian Vettel's race over. He was dragging that Porsche through, but unfortunately, he's not going to score anything today. I wonder, Martin, if Porsche will be able to fix Vettel's car in time for qualifying today or will Vettel have to settle for last on the grid."
"Well, Crofty, the good news for Vettel and Porsche is that they'll have some time to work on the car. Remember, this is a sprint weekend, so we've already had our sprint qualifying on Friday. The main qualifying session for tomorrow's Grand Prix isn't until later this afternoon. That gives the Porsche team a few hours to diagnose and hopefully fix whatever engine issue Seb was experiencing."
LAP 13:
TURN 13 - OCO and ALB exchange corners, ALB remains P15
HUL SETS FASTEST LAP : GAP 1.869
LAP 17:
"Hulkenberg is driving the race of his life. Norris is pushing hard, but can't find a way to catch up with that Audi. Hulkenberg, after so many years, has a chance to get a podium on this sprint race. Audi is looking to make some noise today."
"We're looking at the Championship leader here. Ava Florence is having a torrid time. She can't get past Antonelli in anyway. The Mercedes rookie is holding his own, albeit for a non-point position, but this is stuff the team likes to see. Florence is not happy with this."
FLORENCE I have no pace on the corners! This is a joke!
HENRY We understand, Ava. Just keep pushing.
LAP 19:
"And after so long, Nico Hulkenberg is going to take a sprint race win. He had a great start, great pace, and now he will see the fruits of his results. He takes P1! Behind him, Norris, 2.8 seconds behind. And the surprise of today, Felipe Drugovich, his F1 debut, goes stunningly. He takes P3!"
HENRY Okay, Ava. That's unfortunately P11. But we've still got the Grand Prix

QUALIFYING WAS HELL. Once again, the Porsche's struggled in qualifying. Lando continued to dominate the sessions, setting fastest time in both Q1 and Q2. Oscar had also found pace in his face, joining Lando as the second fastest in Q1 and the fourth fastest in Q2. But it was Audi who continued to shock faces. Hulkenberg and Drugovich were consistently top five in both sessions, Hulkenberg being a tenth behind Lando in Q2. No one understood, but the pendulum had swung to Audi's hands. And Porsche hated every second of it.
SEBASTIAN VETTEL made into the third qualifying session. Changing his turbocharger had given him the slight boost over the other Porsche to make it into top ten. However, Ava's unfortunate fate continued once again.
AVA FLORENCE : P13
ONCE AGAIN Ava was knocked out in Q2. She got out of her car. She wanted to scream and smash something. She knew she was rookie. Rookies were going to make mistakes, especially against the best competitions in the world. But she did not want to lose. Throughout her junior racing career, she rarely lost. F3 was a cakewalk. She was the champion before the fight even began. But not anymore. Ava was no longer the best anymore...
BUT SHE REFUSED TO LET THAT BE TRUE.

SUNDAY came fast once again. Normally, Ava is never pressured coming into a race. Yet she couldn't help it. She made the mistake of hitting up social media before the race. And she saw all the comments. Ava wanted to prove them wrong. Badly. She never cared about other people's opinion. But today she did. She wanted to shut them up.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the China Grand Prix here at the Shanghai International Circuit! We've got a stunning race lined up today, with rain on the horizon, potentially shaking things up around the second stint. Let's take a look at the track, shall we? We've got two DRS zones on this 5.45 kilometer track, 56 laps to go for a total of 305 kilometers. The track record here is set by Michael Schumacher at 1:32.238. Now, on to the grid! It's Lando Norris on pole position—his third pole in 2025 and his second here in China, clinched during yesterday's sprint race. But, Martin, we saw what happened in that sprint race..."
"We certainly did, Crofty. Lando might've taken pole, but he lost out to Nico Hülkenberg, who starts P2 today. That Audi is looking mighty quick here in Shanghai, and they're gunning for a historic victory—Nico's first-ever F1 win and his maiden podium."
"Behind him, it's Oscar Piastri in P3, showing the kind of pace McLaren has been craving this weekend. Then, we have the Ferrari duo—Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton—lining up in P4 and P5. And in P6, it's Max Verstappen, the lone Red Bull in the top 10." "And what a performance from Felipe Drugovich! P7 after a stellar sprint race—can he repeat that magic here today? We have to see. But, Crofty, he's got some big names breathing down his neck: George Russell and Sebastian Vettel in P8 and P9."
"Indeed he does. Rounding out the top 10, it's the evergreen Fernando Alonso, but the big story today is Ava Florence. The Porsche rookie struggled in qualifying, didn't she, Martin?"
"She did. Starting down in P13, she admitted she's fighting the car here in China. But keep an eye on her; she's proven she can climb through the pack. We saw her thrilling wet-weather race in Monza in F3. So, with rain potentially falling, she might have some room here to climb some positions."
HENRY Keep calm here Ava. We're betting on the rain.
"Tire strategies are interesting too. Most of the top 10 are on softs, but Leclerc and Hamilton are on mediums, betting on the rain arriving a bit later. Let's see if that gamble pays off. All right—it's five lights here in China... And IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Lando Norris gets a blinding start, but look at Hülkenberg! He's right on Lando's gearbox. Is this a repeat of the sprint? Not this time! Lando shuts the door. Lando Norris remains in P1. Hülkenberg holds P2, with Piastri, Leclerc, and Hamilton filing in behind. But wait—look further back. Ava Florence is on a charge! She's already jumped Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz in one corner!"
"Carlos seemed to struggle off the line, letting Albon close in, and Ava pounced on that opportunity—using Albon's slipstream to sweep past both drivers. She's up to P11!"
"Meanwhile, at the back, it's a scrap between Jack Doohan, Oliver Bearman, Esteban Ocon, and the rest of the midfield pack. Further up, Liam Lawson is locked in battle with Yuki Tsunoda—the former Racing Bull rivals going wheel-to-wheel! Liam dives in... Not enough. Tsunoda holds position into Turn 4, but that fight's far from over."
"Back at the front, Lando Norris maintains his lead through the first sector. Behind him, it's Hülkenberg, Piastri, Leclerc, and Hamilton—all keeping it clean for now."
"And the battle for P8 is heating up—Russell and Vettel going at it hammer and tongs! Can one of them snatch the position before the lap ends? And Fernando Alonso in P10—he's got Eva Florence bearing down on him. She's already gained two positions. Can she make it three before the end of the lap?"
LAP 3:
Turn 14 - LAW passes TSU, moves up to P16
LANDO NORRIS FASTEST LAP : GAP +.475
LAP 5:
Turn 13 - BEA overtakes DOO, taking P18
LAP 9:
"It's Ava Florence right on the gearbox of Fernando Alonso! She needs this position—and fast—if she has any hope of climbing through the field before the rain arrives. Here comes Fernando Alonzo trying to hold off the Porsche. But Ava's got DRS now! She's closing in fast, following Alonso down the straight—hitting 210 miles per hour as they plunge downhill."
"A quick burst of throttle into the kink at Turn 4... she's sticking right with him. Look at her pace, Crofty! Two laps in, and it seems like Ava's found something overnight in that Porsche. She's already a tenth quicker than Fernando through Sector 1, closing in as they approach Turn 6—a short straight, but plenty of room to make a move if you're brave enough."
"Ava dives down the inside into Turn 6. Oh my goodness! What a bold move! Florence just dive bombs into Turn 6, squeezing in that tiny gap. Fernando must've thought he'd covered her off, but Ava committed—absolutely fearless. She saw the tiny gap Alonso left and thought, 'That's enough for me!' Brilliant move."
"Absolutely. She took the risk and it's paid off! Ava Florence up to P10 with a stunning overtake on Fernando Alonso. That was precision racing at its finest."
LAP 19:
NICO HULKENBERG SETS FASTEST LAP : GAP TO P1 +2.345
HENRY Okay, Ava. We're going to take a risk and put slicks on now.
AVA Are you sure? Cause I think Fernando is behind.
HENRY Fernando is 3.6 seconds behind. We're comfortable trying this
AVA I'm coming in.
"And there's Ava Florence being called into the pits. She's going to be the first driver to pit and she's heading out slicks. So, Porsche thinks they can get a jump on these other drivers by pitting first before the rain."
AVA FLORENCE PITS : 3.0 SECONDS | P12
TOM Oscar, we think rain should come in 2-5 laps for now.
PIASTRI Are any drivers coming in?
TOM Ava is the only driver on slicks
PIASTRI I think we should pit.
TOM Your call.
OSCAR PIASTRI PITS  : 2.8 SECONDS | P7
LAP 21 - 35:
RAIN DETECTED - DRIVERS COME INTO PITS
HENRY Ava, you're P6. Be careful of Leclerc coming out of the pits.
"And that's Ava Florence, who's gamble for the early pitstop paid off. Finds herself in P6 as the rest of the field comes in for wet tires. But here comes Charles Leclerc, fresh out of the pits. How will this go?"
"This will be her first fight against the Monegasque. Ferrari vs Porsche. I've got high expectations on this one."
"And I'm everyone else too. Ava is staring down the rear end of that Ferrari. She's alongside into Turn 14! Leclerc has the inside line, forcing Florence wide. Brilliant defensive driving! But Florence is going to have none of that. She's been forced wide one too many in Formula 1, the earlier being by Russell in Australia. She tries again into Turn 6, but Leclerc isn't going to let if fly."
"She's getting better traction out of the corner though. They're side-by-side through Turn 7! But Ava has to back off."
...
"Florence has been patient for a while. Will she make the move? Yes she will. Florence dives down the inside at Turn 1, is ahead at the apex, but Leclerc cuts back. He's got the position again through Turn 2."
...
"Patience must be running thin for the Belgian. She's got DRS. Leclerc under pressure. Florence has the speed, she has the line... She dives in Turn 6 and once again it sticks. Florence up to P5. Leclerc has to back off."
"It's that move again. She's did on Alonso, and it's working for her, just squeezing through an impossibly small gap."
LAP 40 - 50:
LANDO NORRIS SETS FASTEST LAP : GAP +4.560
"Now it's Verstappen in Florence's sights. He's not going to make it easy though. The defending champion. Look at that! He's forcing her wide at Turn 13. Florence has to take to the runoff!"
"Verstappen's defense is brutal. He's chopping across Florence's nose into Turn 1. He's making her go wide. Off the racing line. She has to back out of it in everyone. That's hard but fair racing from the world champion. We saw it last year. He can defend."
...
"Florence tries again into the hairpin, but Verstappen is wise to it. He positions his car perfectly, leaving no gap for Florence to exploit."
"This is a different challenge for Florence. Verstappen's aggressive style is a stark contrast to Leclerc's more precise approach. He races to the extreme limit. But is she going to try the same overtake she did on Leclerc?"
"We'll see, Martin, if it sticks on Verstappen."
...
"Oh my! Verstappen nearly pushed Florence into the wall on the exit of Turn 13. The Porsche driver had to take evasive action there."
FLORENCE What the f*** is he doing?
HENRY Keep your head down. We're faster. Keep racing.
FLORENCE F****** stupid. He almost crashed me!
...
"Florence is not giving up! She's got a great run out of Turn 13 once again, pulls alongside Verstappen, and... she's done it! Florence sweeps around the outside of Turn 14 to take P4! What a move!"
"Incredible, Crofty! Florence has managed to outfox Verstappen. That move took nerves of steel!"
LAP 51-55
"With just 6 laps to go, Florence is hunting down Hamilton. The gap is coming down rapidly."
...
"Florence is all over the back of Hamilton. She tries the inside at Turn 6, but Hamilton closes the door. Not this time!"
...
"This is it! Florence gets a great exit out of Turn 6, pulls alongside Hamilton into Turn 7, and... she's through! Ava Florence up to P3 with just over a lap to go!"
...
"But she's not done yet, Crofty! Look at this, she's setting purple sectors. Florence is pushing for the fastest lap of the race!"
LAP 56
"From start to finish, Lando does the job. He holds pole position, he keeps that car in front. LANDO NORRIS WINS THE CHINA GRAND PRIX! Nico Hulkenberg secures his first podium in second! Behind, Ava Florence coming into view. She was going for the fastest lap. Will she do it?"
"Florence crosses the line and... yes! She's done it! Fastest lap of the race on the final lap!"
"Well, she certainly stole the show today. From struggling in qualifying to a podium finish, it's a remarkable turnaround for the Porsche driver. This young driver has shown incredible race craft and determination today. Ava Florence. That's the name to remember."
HENRY Phenomenal job, Ava! That's P3!
FLORENCE YES! OH THANK YOU SO MUCH!! And a tribute to Bottas... To whom it may concern, F*** you!

CHINA POST-RACE INTERVIEW
Interview: So, Lando. Great race. Congrats on the win. You had a bit of a lackluster sprint race, but you managed to pull it off today. How was it?
Lando: It was great. I got the start just right and we were quite ahead of the pack when the rain started coming in. So, I held onto that lead.  Maybe it was a bit slow on the first stint, didn't get the happen wanted. But it worked out.
Interview: Nico, this is your maiden podium in Formula 1. How does it feel to achieve this after so long?
Nico: This feels amazing. Like you said, for so long I've been chasing a podium. The sprint win the other day gave me a vote of confidence. And I'm super grateful to the team, to Audi for building a competitive car. And I'm going to enjoy this podium.
Interviewer: Ava, you are the talk of the race. From P13 to podium, incredible strategy, incredible overtakes. How did you do it?
Ava: Firstly, they just give you the most beautiful dresses in the world. It's unfair. I know I'm not supposed to flirt with staff but Seb got away with it, so it's fine. Secondly, yeah, great call by the team to put early. We got a huge jump out of it. And then it was just a game of trying to get past the juggernauts. Leclerc was a good fight. Defenitley thought we had the pace to make it easy, but it wasn't. Max was also tough. I do think he tried to kill me at one point, but we got past anyway. Then it was just a clear track. I wasn't particularly set on passing Hamilton, but more so on closing the gap to see what could happen. And what happened was what you say... so super happy.

Porsche F1: Ava Florence
Admin: Before we head off to your first Grand Prix, the fans want to get to know you a bit better. So let's introduce you to Australia. Firstly, what's your name and what team do you drive for?
"My name is Ava Florence and I drive for Porsche Penske... ah sh** its Martini right? Damn. Porsche Martini Motorsport Racing."
Admin: The F.I.A might penalize you for swearing.
"Ah I won't show up to community service anyway. Unless he did. If he did, I want pictures please."
Admin: What track are you looking most forward to?
"Spa. Literally grew up five minutes away from it. If I don't win there, I might cry. Suzuka would be cool too. Another home race."
Admin: Who was your racing idol?
"Dunno. Never had one. Of course I watched Vettel and Hamilton and Alonso when I was younger, but never really had someone I wanted to be like. The closest... Michele Mouton. She's amazing."
Admin: What's your relationship with Sebastian and Daniel?
"I love them. Seb is kinda like father. And Danny is big brother. Though I think I'm the smarter one... don't tell him that."
Daniel (Off-Camera): You're welcome!
"And he's flipping me off. Love you Danny!"
Admin: Lastly, what's are you looking to accomplish in your first Grand Prix.
"Win."
AUSTRALIA GRAND PRIX: Once again, Melbourne will host the opening round to a Formula 1 season and the excitement is high. McLaren are looking to capitalize on their massive improvements from last season, defending their crown. Red Bull fell off a cliff at the end of 2024, but they still think they can put a fight with their new driver line up. Ferrari has the most hype around them as they've signed Sir Lewis Hamilton, while Mercedes will try to pick up the pieces after Hamilton left.
Q1 was a heated session and you could've sworn that this was 2023 all over again. Max Verstappen goes fastest, setting a 1:16.643. Only two other drivers cracked into the one minute sixteen margins. Lando followed Verstappen with a 1:16.720, but Charles narrowly took that second spot with 1:26.715. Both Mercedes out high performances in 1:17 and Lewis Hamilton set the fastest of that bunch of 1:17.062, landing him P4 in the first session. Porsche's were the dark horses, setting times for P5 and P7.
AVA ROLLED INTO the pit lane, her voice teething on the radio:
FLORENCE I have no pace on the straights. Sector 2 is a joke.
HENRY Understood, Ava. Bring the car into the pits, we'll have a look at the front wing.
FLORENCE Where's Seb?
HENRY He's 5th at the moment. He's running a different set up than you.
THUS the issues began with every new team. Sebastian got the "preferred" set-up, a high suspension to increase speed on the straights and allow him to pick up time during qualifying. But Ava had done it before. She's raced with terrible setups and she's always found a way through... and F1 was her dream. If she was gonna be with Porsche, she was gonna have driving done the beautiful way.
Q2 was a mixed batch of drivers on top. Verstappen fell off his dominance, but he managed to stay in for the next round at P8. Lando once again topped the timing sheets, but Oscar and Leclerc were catching up, Oscar now cracking into the 1:16 times. Hamilton also managed to break in, but still couldn't manage to stick himself in the top 3. It was Sebastian turn to fall to P9 after fumbling Turn 1 and Turn 3 of his laps. Ava settled herself behind the 7x champion in fifth. Coming into the pits, she remained quiet. She hated every second right now. Sure, fifth was a great start to her first EVER F1 race, but she had to fight the car through every corner to get it to where it was. For that effort, she felt she deserved more. She put on footage from Lando's qualifying lap and waited for the final session to begin.
LECLERC HAS GONE OFF — he spun is car around in Turn 1 and sent it straight to the gravel, failing to set a time for the final session. This was Lando's chance. With competition from Charles gone, he easily snatched the top timings, but Oscar was there; first sector, green, second sector, yellow, third sector - hard brake, attacking the apex, carrying that momentum into the final chicane - purple. But was it enough?
Oscar Piastri : +.097
OSCAR WAS DEVASTED. P2was a great lap, but to know he was only nine hundreds off pole in his home Grand Prix hurt. However, that wasn't the only salt to his wound.
"We ride on board with Ava Florence as she's about to begin her lap. Martin, why don't you give us some insight."
"Certainly, Crofty. She's just gonna come up on the final corner and activate the DRS and down she goes for her lap. Picks up speed to 8th gear, breaks at the 100 meter mark, down to third, hits the apex, up to fifth. Late braking into Turn 3, a little too late, bad exit off the corner. Nicely hugs the apex into Turn 4 and flat out for Turn 5. Faster than her pedal best by a tenth."
"Now, Ava Florence, that is, the Porsche driver. She was complaining about the bad speeds on the straights. We can see that right here on Turn 5."
"Absolutely, and she's gonna have to make up as much as she can in the corners.. here, she crosses the DRS detection zone, it's a yellow second sector. Turn 9, a hard braking zone, she angles her car beautifully, attacking the apex, but being cautious on the curbs. She carries that momentum into Turn 10 - just look at how fast she is in those corners. DRS Zone now... down to third gear, wide entry into Turn 11, just what she needs and she stays smooth on the throttle in Turn 22. Back into third gear for Turn 14 and beautiful exit out of Turn 14 as she hits the DRS."
"And it will be Ava Florence who will take P2 away from Oscar Piastri. She goes purple on the final sector."
"Unbelievable final sector from that rookie. Like you said Crofty, having to fight that car all day and certainly not an easy afternoon for the lady, but she's made it work. As here comes here teammate Sebastian Vettel climbing up to P6."
HENRY That is P2 for tomorrow. P2. Well done, Ava.
FLORENCE YES! Oh I hated this qualifying so much, but happy with this result. What's an Aussie thing I can say for the fans?

SUNDAY CAME FAST, and the grid was lined up for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The nerves and expectations were on everyone. Lando couldn't manage to dethrone Max in 2024, but everyone said he can do it this year. He had the fast car, he had the pole position, and all he needed was to maintain it. But Ava was right behind. Rookie or not,  she stole P2 from the second McLaren, arguably the fastest car on the grid right now. Speaking of him, Oscar wanted this race win badly. Every driver dreams of winning a Grand Prix, but many dream of winning their home race. This race was crucial for Oscar, not just for the championship, but for his pride.
NEXT YEAR IS OUR YEAR was Ferrari's slogan for the past 17 years. This year had to be the year though. They had two mega-star drivers. They invested everything into Leclerc. They invested everything into Hamilton. They were just a millimeter away last year. They want to a mile ahead this year.
"Welcome along to the first round of 2025 Formula 1 Season. We are in Melbourne, Australia at the beautiful Albert Park circuit to kick off the start of what is surely going to be a spectacular season. We've got 58 laps ahead of his round, a 3.28 mile circuit and the lap record, set by Charles Leclerc in 2024. 4 DRS zones here, more than any other circuit, around 14 corners. Let's take a look at our grid."
"It was a wild qualifying this year, like it is every year. The lap record holder spun off in Q3, landing him 10th on the grid. But if any driver can make a comeback, it is him. Drivers to watch out for - obviously, we have the pole sitter, Lando Norris. He's been on fire all weekend. Can he finish the job today?"
"We'll certain see, Martin, but the driver behind him isn't going make it easy. Ava Florence, the rookie for Porsche, stunned everyone yesterday. She'll sits P2, only seven hundredths off Norris' time."
HENRY Okay, Ava. Don't worry too much about your start. Our goal is to make these tires last longer than the competition.
"And that Ava certainly will do. She starts on soft tires for the Grand Prix, but she's running a higher suspension than the rest of the top 10, so she might be out on the track for a long time before she comes into the pits. The question is: was that the right call?"
"Only time will tell, Martin, but now the drivers finish up their formation lap... IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Immediately, Ava gets a good jump, she's right on Lando, Max in the back passes on Russel as we head down to the first corner AND AVA GETS TO THE APEX FIRST, SHE LEADS IN, AND SHE TAKES THE POSITION. Once again, Lando Norris will not get to the first corner from pole in pole. Oscar right behind Lando, can't get away-
"The Williams just hit the Aston Martin. Who is it? Debris is going everywhere. Pierre Gasly gets through the disaster, but that's... that's Albon and Stroll there. Stroll's car is beached on the gravel."
"Up ahead, Ava continues her lead into Turn 5 heading for end of the first sector. Behind is Lando, Oscar, Hamilton, Verstappen, Vettel, Russell, Hulkenberg, Antonelli, and Leclerc to round out the top ten.
"We saw Verstappen pass Russell at the start, but looks like Vettel passed him too. He's put into sixth. Let's have a look at crash. Albon is still racing, but car is limping on the road. He's desperately trying to get to the pits. But Stroll... Yeah, he's getting out of the car. Lance Stroll is out of the race. So, first corner, first lap, and we already have our first retirement of 2025."
"Such a shame, especially with Newey entering the Aston department to help them with their new 2026 Honda engine deal. Not the start Aston Martin wanted for their first race. But at least Alonso is still in the race, he's climbed up two places into P12. And here as he are about to finish up the first lap, Ava is still the driver leading into Turns 13 and 14. The gap to Lando has extended, but not to Oscar. The Australian staring at his teammates rear wing. No DRS yet, but in due time, he just might be able to get ahead of Lando."

"Max Verstappen closes the gap with DRS. He's right on Hamilton's gearbox. He makes the lunge into Turn 1 on the inside. But Hamilton just holds on to the position. Verstappen and Hamilton, wheel to once again. They've shown thrilling battles before, but they've also know some jaw-dropping incidents. Verstappen makes the move on the outside. Can he make it stick? They're so close into Turn 4. Verstappen has to back off. Hamilton, defending that P4 with all his might."
"Back into the opening straight and DRS with Verstappen. He makes the lunge once again. He is denied once again. Hamilton continues to defend the position. Up ahead, Florence extends her lead to four seconds. And behind, Leclerc passes Hulkenberg. But all eyes are on these two. Who's going to come out on top?"
HENRY Hamilton and Verstappen are occupied with one another. We're happy to pit now. Your choice.
FLORENCE I think I can extend this stint.
"For the third straight time, Verstappen tries it on the inside line. This time, he gets it to stick, just a sliver ahead of Hamilton. And that is all the space Verstappen needed to get ahead in P4. Behind, Sebastian Vettel has caught up with the two. From fighting one 4x time Red Bull champion to another."
LAP 14:
AVA PIT STOP : 3.1 SECONDS | P6
TURN 5 - LEC passes RUS to take P7
LAP 16:
AVA FLORENCE SETS FASTEST LAP : GAP TO P1 +12.345
TURN 9 - ALO makes a clean pass on ANT for P10
LAP 20:
TURN 3 - BOR overtakes HUL on the outside to claim P9
TURN 7 - SAI and LAW engage in a brief battle, with SAI maintaining P13
LAP 25:
AVA FLORENCE PIT STOP : 2.8 SECONDS | P4
"Ava Florence emerges from the pits in P4, right behind George Russell. And She's immediately looking for the attack, looking for a way past the British driver. She tries to make a move on the inside of Turn 1, but Russell aggressively defends that position. Not much she could do there.
"Turn 1, and Florence fancies her chances on the inside, but Russell's having none of it. He's defending like his life depends on it! Through the next corner, it's anybody's guess who'll come out on top. They're so close you couldn't slip a piece of paper between them!"
"And now, Turn 3, Florence bravely goes for the outside line. It's a bold move, but- OH MY GOODNESS! CONTACT BETWEEN RUSSELL AND FLORENCE! SHE'S OFF THE TRACK! What drama we're seeing here, ladies and gentlemen!"
RUSSELL Nothing I could do. I had no space.
FLORENCE Someone tell this f***** that he's not Hamilton at Mercedes.
HENRY Any damage?
FLORENCE No damage. Just trying to say sane. What's Russell saying?
HENRY Russell is reporting front wing damage.
FLORENCE Karma!
"She doesn't so happy, does she, Crofty? That was quite a rip on Russell. But the Stewards will be looking into that incident and surely, that's a penalty for Russell. He was on the inside lane, Florence gave him plenty of room. No need for him to push her off the track like that."
"He will see the result of that penalty indeed, but right now Florence has lost crucial time and position. She's rejoined right behind Gabriel Bortoleto."
"I will say. Gabriel Bortoleto, the driver from out of Brazil, has done phenomenally well in his first race. I think we knew had talent, but were wondering what to make off it since he was starting in Sauber. But then Audi announced they would the join the early. And look at how its played out."
"Indeed, it's gone great for the team. Of course, the team they were directly responding to is right behind him."
LAP 28:
TURN 1 - VET makes a daring move on HAM, briefly taking P4 before HAM reclaims it in Turn 2
LAP 30:
"AND HERE WE GO! It's an absolute THRILLER between Florence and Bortoleto battling for P5! OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT A FIGHT WE'RE SEEING!"
"Look at the precision, the commitment from both drivers. Both sides are respecting the space for the other drivers, but neither side is giving up any sort of room. It's strange how that works, but that's an F3 and F2 champion fighting right here. Florence is showing tremendous tactical awareness ."
"INTO TURN 3 - BORTOLETO DEFENDS! HE'S HOLDING THE RACING LINE! BUT WAIT - FLORENCE ISN'T BACKING DOWN! SWITCH TO THE INSIDE FOR TURN 4 - SHE'S DONE IT! FLORENCE MAKES THE MOVE STICK! LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY SHE GOES! WHAT A MAGNIFICENT PIECE OF RACING!"
"Brilliant overtake. That's the kind of move that separates good drivers from great drivers. Clean, calculated, and absolutely decisive. Many said that if Florence continued to race in F2, she'd give Bortoleto a run for the title. And this right here shows it."
LAP 35:
LANDO NORRIS PIT STOP : 2.7 SECONDS | P4
LEWIS HAMILTON PIT STOP : 3.6 SECONDS | P6
AVA FLORENCE MOVES UP TO P2
LAP 40:
TURN 9 - ANT and HUL battle for P10, with ANT holding on by mere tenths
LAP 48:
"Florence has been relentlessly chasing down Piastri. Look at that - she's right on his gearbox, the gap closing down faster than a pit stop. Florence goes for the inside, but Piastri - what a defensive move! He covers it off brilliantly."
"Piastri has made a big jump in his defensive ability. We saw him defend Hamilton on the start and he's doing a beautiful job here."
"She's not giving up yet. She feints to the outside... cuts back to the inside. They're side-by-side through Turn 1, neither driver willing to give an inch! This is wheel-to-wheel racing at its absolute finest!"
"Piastri has the inside line for Turn 2, but Florence is hanging in there."
LAP 49:
TURN 3 - LEC makes a bold move on NOR, taking P4
TURN 8 - BOR defends P8 from a charging ALO
LAP 50:
"Florence has been calculatingher next move for laps. When will she unleash? Oscar Piastri is waiting, ready to defend. Look at this - she gets a phenomenal exit out of the final corner, using that slipstream down the main straight DRS wide open, and she's pulling alongside Piastri - they're NECK AND NECK into Turn 1! Florence brakes later, takes the inside line, and MAKES THE PASS STICK! WHAT A MOVE!"
"Absolutely spectacular, Crofty. That's how you make a race-defining move! She knew she had slipstream, she knew exactly the kind of space Piastri was going to give her and she took advantage of it. Brilliant. Brilliant racing."
LAP 52:
TURN 3 - LEC overtakes HAM, taking P3
LAP 58:
"Ava Florence hasn't been in Formula 1 for long, but she's already made history. The first female driver on the grid since Giovanna Amati in 1992. She will become the 9th driver to stand on the podium in their first race. And the second driver since Giancarlo Baghetti in 1961 to win their first ever Formula 1 Race. AVA FLORENCE WINS THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX!"
HENRY Congratulations, Ava! You've freaking done it!

AUSTRALIA POST-RACE INTERVIEW
Interviewer: Congratulation, Ava. Your first race in F1 and already a win in your bag.
Ava: Hello~ How are you? Thank you so much. You look fantastic.
Interview: I think you look better than me.
Ava: Oh shut up. Tell me where you got that dress from. I need to grab something before I leave the land down under.
Interview: I'll let you know after this. Tell us, what are your emotions on your win? Guide us through this race.
Ava: Yeah, I mean... To be honest, even though I was P2, I thought a win was far away. You know, we ran a bad setup on the car. I struggled in qualifying to even get into some of the sessions but you know, we got P2 in the end. And so then I had to convert that to something in the race. Norris I saw had a slow reaction on the start, so I took the opportunity to get past him into turn one and then from there 1st put stop, you know, pretty good. But then the 2nd pit stop... came out right behind Russell. I thought, you know, I could go for this overtake And, he thought to be an idiot and turned into me when I was on the outside. So I don't know what happened there. I'm not complaining with the end result, but definitely was complaining on that one. Then I had a little fight with Gabriel. I got past him. Norris went into the pits, gave me the second position that I needed. And on Piastri, I was just waiting for DRS to kick in. And I knew that was going to be my opportunity and I got it.
Interview: So, Oscar, you were very close to winning your home Grand Prix. What are you feeling here?
Oscar: Yeah, tough. I was leading for a while. Confident I could get the race win. And then Ava came behind me and it was tough to keep her away. P2 is a strong position. Helps me, helps the team. But I definitely wished I got first.
Interview: Charles, after that spin in Q3, you started 10th on the grid. You worked your way up to the podium. How was it?
Charles: It was good. The car had pace. Obviously, not as much as we wanted, but I made some good overtakes. We had a solid strategy. By the time, I passed Lewis, the McLarens were too far ahead. Overall, strong result for the team. We'll look into the data to see where we can improve because we're definitely faster than what was shown today.
HOWEVER, all that aside, the fans of F1 wanted to know one thing and one thing only. What did the drivers think of Ava Florence? She was the first point scoring woman in F1 history. The first race-winning woman in F1 history.
Oscar: She's very quick. She's a tough racer. It was very hard to defend against her. She's pretty relentless.
Lando: She's crazy good. I mean, first race, first win. You don't just do that randomly. So, she's proven herself.
Charles: I think the race showed it. She has the pace and the racecraft to compete with the best. Very strong qualifier. Strong pace. Not many flaws I would saw. For a rookie, that's incredible.
Lewis: It's amazing to see her race. Not only is she crazy fast, but she's representing women out there in motorsport. You know, when I was growing up, there wasn't any driver that I could look to and say, "He's like me." I got the opportunity to be that kind of driver for others. And I'm sure she's now going to be a huge inspiration for women all over the world. Major props to her.
Max: She's fast. I mean, that's the basis of what you need to compete. And she has it.
Sebastian: Ava is an incredible racer. Porsche has a lot of trust in her and for good reason. She's a strong driver, and a strong person too. She doesn't let the comments get to her. And her character is one of the best out there. Happy for her. Congrats on the race win. Hopefully, many more will come.
Gabriel: The same as before. Competing against her in F3 was definitely one of the most challenging moments of my life. And now we're both on the highest level of racing. Yeah, that's it. She's fast. She's tough. She's great.
Fernando: Fantastic performance. She definitely stands out and she has great race pace, great awareness, overall just fantastic for motorsport as a whole. I don't really care if she's a woman or not. She's got the speed to compete with everyone else.
George: I think, for a rookie, it's a impressive performance. But you're going to have the rookie mistakes that everyone makes. You know, a lot of them are overly ambitious.
Carlos: She's great. Very good race she had today. Happy to see representation on the grid. I hope the best for her.

WHO IS AVA FLORENCE AND WHAT TO EXPECT?
AVA FLORENCE'S surprise signing with Porsche's new Formula 1 team has sent shockwaves through the motorsport world. The 19-year-old Belgian-Japanese driver is set to become the first full-time female F1 driver since Giovanna Amati in 1992. But who exactly is Ava Florence, and what can we expect from her in the pinnacle of motorsport?
BORN IN SPA, Belgium, to a Belgian father and Japanese mother, Florence was exposed to motorsport from an early age. Growing up in the shadow of the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, she began karting at the age of six. Florence quickly made a name for herself in the Belgian and European karting scenes, claiming multiple national titles and finishing runner-up in the CIK-FIA European Karting Championship in 2019. Florence's transition to single-seaters was nothing short of meteoric. In 2020, she dominated the French F4 Championship, securing the title with three races to spare. Her performances caught the eye of several Formula 3 teams, and she made the leap to the highly competitive series in 2021.
THE 2022 F3 SEASON saw Florence emerge as a true star of the future. In a closely fought battle, she clinched the championship in the final race at Monza, becoming the first female driver to win the title. Her success led to widespread speculation about a potential Formula 2 drive, but Florence surprised many by signing with Porsche Penske Motorsport for their FIA World Endurance Championship campaign. The move proved to be a masterstroke.
FLORENCE adapted quickly to endurance racing, playing a crucial role in Porsche's 2024 WEC championship victory. Her ability to manage tires, fuel, and race strategy over long stints impressed many in the paddock.
FLORENCE'S UNCONVENTIONAL PATH to F1 via WEC has left many wondering how she'll fare against the established stars of the sport. However, her track record suggests she has the talent and adaptability to succeed at the highest level. Her experience in both open-wheel and endurance racing could prove invaluable in F1's current era, where tire and energy management are crucial. Florence's smooth driving style and tactical acumen, honed in WEC, may give her an edge in races where strategy plays a key role.
PAIRED WITH FOUR-TIME WORLD CHAMPION Sebastian Vettel at Porsche, Florence will have an excellent mentor to guide her through her rookie season. The combination of Vettel's experience and Florence's raw talent could make Porsche a dark horse in their debut season.
user001: Manifesting a home race win for Florence in both Japan and Spa
user002: SHE WINS IN SUZUKA! SHE WINS IN SPA!
user003: She hasn't done open wheel racing for a year. I think we're over hyping her rookie season.
This is posted on Wattpad, but will also be posted on Tumblr. This is Part 1. Stay tuned for Part 2 or check it out on Wattpad under the same name.

george is defenitely top of that list now (unless that beef is squashed)
still thinking about how max said "oscar is a good guy, i wouldn't want to hit him" which implies he has a list of drivers he would yeet off track based on his personal moral ranking

I think the reason humanity has become so divided is because we’ve never fought anyone but other humans.

Eye to Eye
Children of peace, children of war. Do they see eye to eye? Or perhaps, children of pain, and children of bliss. Do they see eye to eye? Not eye to eye, like to look into one's sight, and think, I wonder what kind of life lies behind. But eye to eye like looking into one's mind, and think the words that bleed from your heart reach into mine. That despair would vanquish, and the pain would hide, if I choose to cross the other side. But that notion still divides, creates a fictitious line, that separates you and I, and left us all to our wandering thoughts, thinking what kind of life does he live like. So, I wonder, past broken lines, and rugged ties. Do children of war and children of peace ever see eye to eye?

Tree of Fiction
No matter how high the tree of fiction goes, its roots will always be grounded in reality. That's what makes it a great tree.
