I think the central Thing that compels me about jon and georgie's scenes in early s3 is that they have a real rapport, they banter and have shared social connections and want to do what's best for each other, and they're still distinctly not on the same page. the Thing is that georgie wants jon to be safe and to tell her whadda hell's going on, but when she says "please be safe," what he hears is "you're too dangerous to have around" and so keeps offering to just up and leave every time she tries to talk to him. georgie then thinks he's saying no to her request to be careful and hears it as "I would rather cut you off and dig myself deeper than stop" instead of "I'm respecting your wishes to not have me be both dangerous and near you at the same time."
