| | keep me warm
The steady patter of rain always seemed to lull you deeper into your slumber. Arms and legs tangled with the pair beside you, pulling you closer to their broad chest as you snuggle your face on the crook of their neck. It was one of those days you wish to have forever until you breathe out your last breath.
Soft breathing fills the room along with the rustle of the duvet. Slurring in his sleep, cat-like eyes flutter open at the tiny specs of light seeping through the curtains.
7AM.
A groan quickly slips past his lips as he stretches his aching limbs, a couple of joints cracking here and there. Glancing towards his left, the sight of his beau was enough to leave him breathless. There you were, sound asleep, with mouth slightly parted open.
Gently rolling to his side, he takes in every single part of you. Your lengthy lashes kissing your flushed cheeks, the beautiful inclination of your nose that seems to wrinkle- probably because of some dust- and your slightly chapped but soft, parted lips that couldn’t seem to keep the drool in your mouth.
It was truly a sight to see, however, somewhere deep inside of him keeps on dying and reviving at the same time. The raven-haired boy couldn’t seem to get enough of your cuteness early in the morning.
With his slender fingers pushing away locks of hair off your face, a faint smile crosses his lips, “Even when asleep, she never fails to take my breath away.”
Even with your breathing, it sure is the cutest sound he’s ever heard. A baby. His baby, to be exact. Chuckling at how your lips were still open, he couldn’t seem to stop the urge to kiss you. Slowly leaning in, he gently plants a kiss on your lips- only to have you stirring from your sleep, eyes fluttering open to meet his hazel orbs.
“Tetsurou,” you sleepily mumble, hand instantly reaching up to the corner of your eye; trying to wipe away the sleep. “Ssshh, it’s nothing,” he whispers as he pats you on your bum, trying to lull you back to sleep. “Sleep.”
You obediently nod and close your eyes in response, washing away the panic written all over Kuroo’s face. In an instant, you were knocked out cold which only received a chuckle from your beau.
A couple of minutes passed and yet Kuroo can’t seem to take his eyes off of you. The urge to kiss you continued to pick on him, urging him to go for it. However, the thought of wanting you to rest prevented him from doing so. “If I kiss you again, you’re gonna wake up.” His voice was soft, a whisper loud enough for him to hear.
However, there was a lilt in his voice. The glint of mischief can be seen in his cat-like eyes and yet, no matter how much his conscience is telling him not to, Kuroo leans in once again; planting another soft but a deeper kiss this time.
The sound of his smooch echoed throughout the four corners of the shared bedroom- now wiping away the sleep in you as your eyes flutter open, causing him to chuckle. “Oya, who keeps on kissing my baby?” He coos with arms pulling you closer to him, hand trying to pat you to sleep.
“You did,” you murmur against his shirt which in turn caused the raven-haired boy to let out the goofiest laugh. “I did?” He “innocently” returns the question as he pulls away for a bit, cat-like eyes searching for yours.
A pout was evident in your lips and it was enough to send Kuroo into another giggling fit. The sudden contact of his hands on your cheeks had your breath hitching as he brings his face closer to you with the widest grin ever. “You were so cute with your lips parted open, I just couldn’t seem to stop myself!”
Kiss upon kiss upon kiss. Kuroo’s lips didn’t cease to stop. The loud smooch was always followed by another- which had you squealing whilst trying to break free from him. “Tetsurou, stop!” you say in between kisses.
“Alright, alright.” he sighs with a plop of his body beside you, bringing you close to him once again. “Let’s sleep some more.” Surely it was going to be difficult for you to go back to sleep but the warmth Kuroo radiates was enough for your heavy lids to close, receiving a genuine smile from the aforementioned man.
Running his slender fingers through your silken locks, soft kisses found their way to the top of your head. “You sure do make every single day worth living.”
-
The room was awfully quiet. Too quiet for your liking. It wasn’t usually like this whenever Kuroo and you decide to sleep in. Turning over to the other side to wrap your arms around your beau, you were greeted by an empty space. “Tetsurou-” you slur with eyes fluttering open, only to see no signs of the raven-haired man. “Tetsurou?” you call out once more.
No response.
That’s odd. Tetsurou usually sleeps in... you thought as you sat up, swinging your legs to the side of the bed. Slipping in your fluffy slippers, you hoist yourself up before shuffling your way out of the room with your arms wrapped around you.
The sound of sizzling echoed throughout the room, followed by a soft hum from the man you apparently missed lying beside you. With your lower lip tugged outward, you quietly made your way to the kitchen only to be greeted by your beau’s back as they busy themselves with the pan and spatula on both hands.
“I bet (y/n)’s gonna love this-” Kuroo lets out a yelp when he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist; looking over to see the top of your head. “Kitten, why are you up?” click! Kuroo carefully transfers the remaining egg toast on the plate placed right beside the stove before placing everything down.
Turning around with such ease, he snakes his arms around you. “I can’t sleep,” Three words that were enough to confuse Kuroo. “What do you mean?” he asks once more as he tucks a finger or two under your chin, lifting it to make you meet his hazel orbs.
“You’ve been gone too long.”
Eyebrows were furrowed and lips were pouted. It definitely was a sight worth seeing. A cheeky grin was fast enough to cross Kuroo’s lips, causing you to only furrow your eyebrows further. “What?”
“Oya, oya, my kitten sure is clingy-”
“The bed is cold without you.” you immediately shut him up which in turn had him looking at you with wide eyes. You were always open with how you felt, however, Kuroo couldn’t get used to it.
You were simple enough to read but there are times when you just seem to catch him off guard- more so, him not really getting used to how you act despite being together for how long God knows.
Probably, you were the closest comparison to Kenma. A girl version perhaps? Not quite.
Kenma and you were both your own persons, however, there was something about the two of you that makes Kuroo appreciate the little things in life; may it be how either one of you can make a very gloomy day turn a complete 180 degrees in just a number of seconds.
Ruffling your hair, Kuroo plants a quick kiss on your forehead. “I’m sorry, kitten, but I wanted to surprise you with breakfast.” With a small nod to the side, you glance over his shoulder to see two plates filled with his famous one-pan egg toast and a couple of fruits.
“You cooked me breakfast?” you query once more, transferring your gaze from the platter of yummy goodies to the cat-like eyes, who seem to soften the moment it meets yours. “Yeah, just wanted to treat my kitten every once in a while for being such a good girl-”
Kuroo couldn’t help but smile as you plant a soft kiss on his lips, only to have him narrowing his eyes when you pulled away. “Ara?” you teasingly look at his lips- pouting at the sudden loss of contact. “That’s all?”
Rolling your eyes, you raise your hands up to his cheeks, cupping them before kissing him a little bit deeper. Before Kuroo could even slip his tongue in, you were quick enough to pull away to see your beau pouting once more with flushed cheeks.
“Hep, hep! Let’s eat first, Tetsurou.”
“But can we continue to make out after we eat?” Looking at your beau for the umpteenth time, you couldn’t help but tap your chin with your right index finger, as if you were in deep thought.
“Sure.” and with that, Kuroo didn’t think twice but to swoop you up in his arms, hurriedly setting you down on the chair before prepping up the table. “Eat up, my sweet kitten.” he beams with that knowing smirk on his lips- the smirk that easily captured your heart way back.
“I love you,” you coo as you take in the toast in between your hands, only to be stopped by a pair of lips planting a kiss on your forehead.
“I love you too, (y/n). Now hurry up, I need those kisses.”

 || “i’ll be back”
The moment the words slip past his lips, she knew he was uncertain. He knew how it would turn out and yet, there he stood in front of her with the brightest smile he could ever give her.
However, no matter how “happy” his smile looked, the (e/c) orbs knew how his eyes spoke a different story.
There was glint of fear, and yet, she could also see a glint of acceptance.
“I promise you, my sweet flame, I’ll be back.” he softly spoke with a hand placed on her cheeks; coaxing the uneasy feeling buried deep in her stomach. Kyojuro’s honeyed voice echoed through (y/n)’s mind, repeating like a broken music player.
I’ll be back.
(y/n) wanted to believe every single word he said; she really did want to believe in him, however, every single intuition she had was screaming at her not to let the man go.
When her grip around his haori tightened, the Flame Pillar could feel his heart crack from the sight of his beau slowly falling apart before him. He already knew the possibilities. He already knew his fate. He already accepted it the moment Oyakata-sama told him about his final mission.
“Kyojuro, you do understand my stand in this situation, right?” his soothing voice always kept his heart at bay but now, it wasn’t able to stop his heart from hammering against his chest. It was as if everything was laid out in front of him.
His fate laid out in front of him in a silver platter.
[a/n: l/n - last name; let’s pretend that Kagaya’s not yet fully blind here…]
The sight of the young man’s unwavering smile was enough for Kagaya to understand how he was feeling. “I know you’re thinking about (l/n)-san. You don’t want to leave her, do you?”
Just hearing (y/n)’s name was enough to break him, however, he knew it was his duty to protect the weak. It was his duty to save these people from losing their lives - a life they all deserve to live to the fullest. Yet with her soft smile flashing in his mind, for the first time, he was afraid of seeing it turn into a mournful frown.
He knew his death was near, however, ever since he met you, he was scared of the thought of dying - leaving you all by yourself after.
“You already knew the possibilities of me dying, right, Oyakata-sama?” the hint of sorrow was evident in his tone, only to be contradicted the smile plastered on his face. Kagaya couldn’t help but sadly look at his child; no matter how much he loved his children, it always pained him to see them die or even just seeing how banged up they are every after missions.
“Yes.”
“Please don’t go.” Her voice croaked. It took every ounce of energy from her to beg him one last time. I should be selfish for once, she thought with her face buried in his chest. Everything seemed to be falling apart. She lost her family, she lost her dear friend and now, she doesn’t want to lose the only flame left in her life.
(y/n)’s request was selfish, however, Kyojuro understood where she was coming from but he couldn’t seem to shake off the guilt and responsibility that was eating him up – there were lives waiting for him to save them, begging him to save them from their misery.
“(y/n),” Kyojuro calls out, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, “you know I can’t do that. They need me. I need to protect the weak.”
The (h/c) haired lass knew Kyojuro was serious whenever he calls her by her name but just hearing her name roll off his mouth so effortlessly was enough for her to finally break. Fits of sobs filled the room yet no one dared to stop it from bouncing off from every corner in the headquarters.
“I’m sorry, my sweet flame. I really need to go-“
“Then let me go with you!” (y/n) cried out as she finally met his gaze – screaming with so much determination just to keep her lover safe. “Please, let me go with you.”
“(y/n),” another voice calls out, a voice that’s so familiar. A voice that was soothing enough to calm the Thunder Pillar and have her fall on her knees, letting go of the Flame Pillar.
“My child, I need you here to help with the others.”
It was Kagaya. The sound of her sobs was enough to summon him into the very room they were occupying. With a hand resting on her trembling shoulders, Kagaya looks up at the Flame Pillar with a fatherly smile – only to stop halfway when he noticed the stern look on his child. Tears were forming on the corner of his eyes, but he tried his best to not show how much it affected him.
“Oyakata-sama,” (y/n) shifts her whole body to face Kagaya before bowing down to him with her forehead planted on the floor. “Please let me go with Kyojuro.”
(y/n) has always been known to be such a strong-willed woman. Face always plastered with a smile; seemingly unfazed by the problems being created by the bloodlust demons. She carried herself with dignity and grace – it was also said that she would most likely be the counterpart of the Sound Pillar.
However, if anyone were to see her state, they wouldn’t be able to grasp what was happening. In front of Kagaya was a crumbling Thunder Pillar; it was as if she has thrown away everything away to describe her persona. It felt like with every step, or breath they take, her heart would continue to shatter.
“Tell me, my child, why do you wish to join, Kyojuro?” he queries, patting the Thunder Pillar on the head to let her lift her head up to meet his gaze.
Why do I want to be there? (y/n) asks herself, still unable to raise her head. Her heart hammered against her chest; as if it was trying to beat its way out from her system just to get rid of the uneasiness settling inside of her. She felt sick. Everything tasted bitter in her mouth.
“I don’t want to lose him,” lifting her head up, it was apparent in her voice the dread she’s been trying to shrug off. The only fear that she doesn’t want to face.
“And why do you believe you’ll lose him?”
Silence. No words were uttered for she couldn’t come up with any reason. (e/c) orbs blankly stared at Kagaya, no longer sparkling like how it used to. “I want the two of you to come into terms before you leave, Kyojuro.” Kagaya speaks, standing up before giving the Flame Pillar a faint smile.
“I shall leave the two of you, please excuse me.”
Taking Kagaya’s leave as a signal, Kyojuro didn’t miss a beat and sat himself in front of his lover. “Please, (y/n),” he gently tucks a finger on her chin, raising it up so that she could look at him.
“Can you put more faith in me? I–“
“I just can’t imagine my life without you, Kyo. Y-you’re so important to me… that I just…” her voice trails off, scared to let go of the words she dreaded the most. The (h/c) haired lass didn’t think twice as she threw her arms around him, pulling him into the tightest hug she could ever give.
“I can’t imagine you not here.” The last string holding Kyojuro’s façade finally snapped. It finally sunk in the fact of how scared he was to face his fate. Tears started to pour down his cheeks as he immediately wrapped his strong limbs around her, pulling her closer to him as if their closeness was not enough to satisfy him.
A sob slips past Kyojuro’s lips, only to be followed by a set of hiccups as he tried to stop himself from bawling his heart out. “I-… I need to go, (y/n).” he says as he pulls away from her, cupping her cheeks as his fire-like orbs searched for hers; trying to convey how he really felt.
Planting a soft kiss on her swollen lips, Kyojuro’s didn’t think twice; caressing her cheeks with his thumb before rising to take his leave. “I love you with all my heart, (y/n). I promise you, I’ll come back.”
Without looking back, Kyojuro hastily left the Thunder Pillar crying on the floor, only to be comforted by their fellow hashiras as they watched the retreating figure of the Flame Pillar. The sound of pebbles clashing against each other resonated through the garden. A sad sigh leaving Kyojuro’s lips as he bowed to Kagaya one last time, only to be replaced by a gasp when someone spoke behind him.
“Oh, are you heading into battle?”
Kyojuro knew who it was and with his usual smile plastered on his face, he turns around to greet the Insect Pillar. “Is that you, Kocho?” he pauses as he meets her gaze, “We just got some information about a demon and the Slayers who confronted the him got taken out. We’re losing rank and filers, too, now. We can’t stand by and do nothing!”
“Could it be the Twelve Kizuki?” Kocho ponders while taken in the information being laid out to her. “Most likely, yes. It might be a member of the Upper Ranks.”
The way Kyojuro calmly spoke about his mission was putting the Insect Pillar off but she rather shrugged it off and sent him off with a smile. However, the redness on the corner of his eyes didn’t go unnoticed by Kocho.
“It sounds like a difficult mission, but as long as you’re going, Rengoku, there’s nothing to worry about.”
-
Days passed by and all you could ever think of was your beau. No news, no sight of him coming through the gates of the shared estate, no announcements from his crow.
Throughout the days whilst waiting for him, the way the (e/c) hues becoming dull and lifeless did not go unnoticed by your fellow hashiras. The way your smiles didn’t reach your eyes was already enough for them to know what was going through your mind.
Listlessly swinging your sword at the wooden dummy, the sound of rocks colliding from beneath didn’t seem to reach your ears. Odd, thought the visitor as they watched you continue to spar with the wooden dummy. With a swift flick of their wrist, the rock twirling towards you was immediately deflected by the sword you were holding.
Even if you were lost in your train of thoughts, your senses were still heightened enough to protect yourself from any danger. “Are you still going to mope around, (y/n)-san?”
Tokito Muichiro. The Mist Pillar whom you treated as a younger brother stood meters away from you with his usual dazed eyes staring right into the (e/c) orbs. Sliding your sword back into its sheath, you smile at the younger hashira before turning around to leave - only to stop at Muichiro’s remark.
“Do you think moping around would do us good?”
His words had you clenching your jaw in annoyance. It angered you but you, yourself, didn’t know the reason as to why it sent your blood boiling. The younger hashira meant no harm, but it rubbed on you in the wrong way.
In a flash, you were already standing right in front of him with your hand meeting his collar; a vice-like grip around the material near his neck, enough to have the Mist Pillar cast their gaze down at the Thunder Pillar with a smirk.
“Were my words enough to anger you, (y/n)-san?” Everyone knew the consequences if they tried to test your patience, especially not now when you’re on the verge of losing your sanity. Muichiro knew it was only him that could slap you back to your senses. He hated seeing you in this state. He hated seeing his strong-willed older sister crumble at the mere fact of Kyojuro not coming back. He hated the fact that he couldn’t do anything to ease the pain.
You meant the world to him; you stood by him as an older sister. Someone who he can consider as family as side from Kagaya.
The mere fact that the Mist Pillar could hear you growl under your breath was enough to snap him back to reality. The way your eyes reminded him of glowing, electric orbs in the sky sent shivers down his spine, but he knew there was no turning back; he knew that it was now or never.
“Quite the hypocrite aren’t you, Tokito-san?” You never called him with his family name and Muichiro knew better you were pissed. You couldn’t understand why he was verbally attacking you; as if he knew the areas to punch you where it hurt the most. You thought he would understand you better than anyone else, but it seemed otherwise.
Taking your words with a grain of salt, Muichiro continued to stare at you with a faint smile on his face. “So, what if I am a hypocrite? At least I don’t stay grounded in one place rather than moving forward-”
Everything turned upside down for the Mist Pillar as his body was thrown on the ground, only to be straddled in between her legs with fists coming close to his face. Muichiro calmly took her fists in his, an iron-grip enough to stop her from moving. Soon, the small drops of tears snapped him from his own reveries; tears continued to kiss the Thunder Pillar’s cheeks as she hung her head low, trying to get away from his hold.
The (e/c) orbs was no longer shining. It was blurred with tears, the whites of her eyes slowly turning into a shade of red; bloodshot from the sudden out pour of her emotion. An oppressive boom seamed to crack the air, a loud thunder roaring echoed throughout the whole city; clouds turning gray and yet there were no signs of rain fall.
The Thunder Hashira before him possessed god-like skills- as if every single part of her was highly in-touch with the breathing style she possessed. There were times when her mood seemed to affect the sky’s emotions; reflecting the darkness in her heart.
Everyone was quick enough to know something was going on as it was peculiar for the sky to shift from being clear as a flowing river to a murky gray. Scrambling to their feet, they ran as fast as they can to where the two were- they were dreading; they didn’t want anything to wreak havoc amid their search for Kibutsuji.
“H-hey,” the sight of her crying was enough to send him into a stuttering mess, “don’t cry.” The younger hashira’s hands immediately found its way around your shoulders, letting go of your fists. Muichiro’s words resonated deep within you; opening all the cages you tightly locked up.
Two arms finally made its way around you, pulling you tightly into his chest. The loud wails finally reached the other hashiras, only to stop them from getting closer when they saw the two of you. Your shoulders trembled, fists meeting the Mist Hashira’s chest.
The tightness of your throat didn’t stop you from voicing out what you wanted to say to Muichiro. “I hate you!” you screamed, voice cracking as your fists finally cease to hit him.
“I hate how much y-your words hurt,” Muichiro went stiff under you. Your voice raw with tears, however, it left a bitter taste in his mouth. “I-I thought you’d understand-”
Kaaaw! The appearance of a black crow cut you off, snapping everyone’s attention towards it as it perched atop the wooden dummy.
“Kaaaw!” the black kasugai crow with fiery eyes- none like the others- turned its gaze on you, “Deceased! Rengoku Kyojuro is dead-”
“No! Shut up, he isn’t!” screaming at the top of your lungs, you lunged towards the crow; trying to stop it from telling the truth you didn’t want to hear. However, your pleas went from one ear to another as the kasugai crow flew towards Sanemi, resting on his shoulder with its eyes never leaving yours.
Zeroing on you, the kasugai crow continued, “He fought with an upper-rank kizuki and died!” The words slipped past through its beak. Words enough to fall on your knees, tears brimming down your cheeks while you aggressively try to wipe it away; trying to stop yourself from believing.
“(y/n),” Everyone was staring at you and before they could even react, your hurried hands found their way to your sword. Your fingers fumbling on the handle as you tried to unsheathe your sword. “What the fuck are you thinking?!” Sanemi screamed as he raced towards you.
The sight of the sword unsheathed from its scabbard was enough for Sanemi to take a hold of your wrist before removing the sword from your vice-like grip; even to an extent of breaking a few fingers just to get the sword away from you. Pinning you down on the pebbled ground, Sanemi stared into your eyes; only to be greeted with blurry orbs.
“Don’t do this,” Sanemi begs as he moved both of your arms above your head, one hand securely holding your wrists as the other wiped your tears. “Kyojuro would be sad-”
“Isn’t it unfair?!” you retaliate with quivering lips, “What purpose do I have to continue this damned life-”
“Cut it out!” Sanemi slams his hand on your mouth. The fact that all of you lost the fire in your lives sent him on the edge. He, too, cherished Kyojuro but seeing how destructive you’ve become angered him.
“Are you out of your goddamned mind, (y/n)? Do you think Kyojuro wanted to die?! You, yourself, know that Kyojuro always had that sense of urgency to protect the weak. If he was here, he’d tell you to fucking live! Let that fucking sink in your mind.”
“Shinazugawa-san-” the Insect Pillar tried to stop the Wind Pillar, only to be stopped when she felt Gyomei’s hand on her shoulder, shaking his head.
The blank look in your eyes sent Sanemi’s mind into a scrambling mess. The tears soon to cease but it baffled him, only to be taken aback by your request. “Why don’t you just kill me, Shinazugawa? Let’s just end this.”
Your voice was muffled against his palm, but it was clear enough to be understood by the Wind Pillar. Your request struck a different chord in him; a chord that made him see a different light. All he could see was red and soon, his fist was up in the air, ready to strike you down - only to have both of you go limp; consciousness leaving the two of you.
Shinobu was quick enough to prevent matters going out of hand. Looking over to her shoulder, a faint smile crosses her lips as she meets the gaze of everyone. “Ara, ara,” she gently pushes Sanemi’s body off of you before continuing, “Tokito-san, can you be a dear and bring (y/n)-san back to her estate?”
The younger hashira didn’t think twice and heeded the older hashira’s request. Turning her gaze to Uzui, Shinobu stands up as she pat off the dirt from her knees. “Ara, Uzui-san, please do take care of Shinazugawa-san.” The Sound Pillar couldn’t stop a grunt from slipping past his lips. It wasn’t a flamboyant request, but it didn’t stop him from throwing the Wind Pillar over his shoulder, taking his leave with Obanai and Gyomei following behind him.
Kyojuro, I thought you could handle it. Shinobu heaves out a sigh before following Muichiro to the Thunder Pillar’s estate with Mitsuri and Giyuu.
-
Before you stood a tall, majestic tree. Its leaves dancing with the wind the breeze strongly blew. Looking around you, you were surrounded by the vast serenity of water, however, there were tiny flames running- the pitter patter of their steps sounded like tiny droplets of rain.
Where am I? you thought as you walk towards the tree, eyes still scanning through the place; trying to put one plus one together. “Am I dead?” you thought out loud with your back pressed against the tree, sliding down to hug your knees against your chest.
“Huh,” there were no emotions building up inside of you. It felt like you were at peace, soon forgetting all the problems you have. “I must be dead-”
“There you are, my sweet flame.”
That voice. The voice you craved so much. The dulcet yet booming voice that always sent your heart into a bliss. Quickly turning to meet the voice’s owner, (e/c) orbs were immediately met by sun-like ones.
“Kyo...” you breathe out as you stare at him with wide-eyes. You didn’t dare to move, nor take in another breath. You were scared. Scared to break whatever it was from letting you see Kyojuro looking at you with a smile. “Won’t you give me a welcome back hug?”
Hurt was written all over his face but he couldn’t blame you. “I’m scared,” your voice was soft, so soft that it scared him. “Why?” he asks as he sits himself in front of you, eyes never losing its flame.
“Y-you,” your quivering lips was enough to answer his question. “I d-don’t want you to disappear.” A tear slowly slid down your cheeks, only to be wiped away by Kyojuro’s finger. “I won’t.” he calmly takes your hand in his before pulling you into a hug, taking in your scent.
Realizing he wasn’t going to disappear, you quickly wrapped your arms around him; pulling him closer towards you- bodies flush against each other. “Why are you crying-”
“Kyo, p-please tell me this is all a dream.” it was evident in your voice your desperation and grief, “I don’t want you to leave me. I d-don’t know if I could live without you, y-your the only one who motivates me to live-”
“I won’t leave you, my sweet flame-”
“Then tell me why your crow told me you were dead?!” the warmth between the two of you was slowly replaced by the cold breeze- your eyes still brimming with tears as you stared at him
Sadly smiling at you, Kyojuro takes a strand of your (h/c) locks before tucking it behind your ears. “I love you,” he knows that his diversion didn’t seem to go unnoticed by you, “I love you with all my heart, (y/n),” he continues without his smile wavering.
“I love how that mind of yours think of the most beautiful things,” he places a soft kiss on your forehead, eyes still never leaving yours as it immediately found its way back to the (e/c) orbs, “I love those (e/c) hues that continue to make me melt whenever it meets mine in the most unexpected moments,” another kiss on both of your closed eyes. Pulling away, he continues to tuck in the lose strands behind your ears.
“I love how your nose would wrinkle whenever I make the most outrageous pick-up lines which never seemed to fail in making you laugh afterward,” another kiss on your nose. His gaze softened when he sees you sobbing while listening to him speak.
You couldn’t stop the tears but you also couldn’t seem to move a muscle as the fear seemingly found its way back to you. Raising his hand to have his thumb wipe away the tears, Kyojuro continued. “I love those (s/c) cheeks get dusted in pink whenever I kiss you out of the blue.” Kyojuro continues to shower your cheeks with kisses, a chuckle leaving his lips when he saw you furrow your eyebrows in attempt to stop yourself from crying.
“And I love those soft, plump lips of yours making snarly comebacks whenever we have our childish banters and those heavenly laugh of yours that seem to make me full of content.” A soft, yet passionate kiss was then planted on your lips.
Pulling away before you could even respond to his kiss, Kyojuro leans his forehead against yours, thumb caressing your cheeks; only to feel you lean towards it with eyes closed. The sight of your tears escaping through the closed lids broke Kyojuro’s heart. “I love you so much, (y/n).”
“I-”
“(y/n)!”
“(y/n)! For crying out loud, wake up!!!”
“Huh?”
“(y/n)!”
“(y/n), wake up!” The moment your eyes fluttered open, the sight of Kyojuro’s younger brother greeted you. “Finally! Get up.” He grits his teeth as he tries to pull you up. Baffled by his actions, the sleep in your eyes was immediately wiped off when you stumbled on your feet.
Senjuro didn’t seem to have any plans on telling you what’s going on but you just let him drag you. “I-Is something the matter?!” you query in between breaths, a bit startled at how fast Senjuro has become. “K-kyo..” he tries to tell you but it was as if the adrenaline rush was stopping him from doing so.
“Senjuro, if you don’t tell me I swear I’m going to-”
You breath hitched the moment your eyes landed on the person right in front of you. Senjuro looks over his shoulder with tears in his eyes and a smile on his lips. “N-no...” you softly heave out as you take a step back.  You couldn’t believe your eyes. Before you stood Kyojuro with Tanjiro standing beside him with arms supporting his arms.
“Didn’t I,” he takes in a sharp breath before flashing you a smile, “tell you that I’ll be back?”
It was evident how badly banged up Kyojuro was from the mission. His entire body’s wrapped in bandages; blots of red forming from almost every part of the bandage covering his body- especially around his left eye. “I-I thought.. you’re...” your voice softly trails off, knees slowly giving away only to have Senjuro catching you with his father, Shinjuro.
“Dead?” the words left a metallic taste in his mouth; only to remember the sudden turn of events before his life flashed before his eyes. “I’m home,” his sun-like orbs never left your (e/c) ones; it sparkled with happiness and sincerity – only to have you finding the strength to run and throw yourself towards him, taking in the fact that he’s there, alive and breathing.
Unable to stay grounded on the floor, Kyojuro loses his footing with you twisting your body to have you slamming your back on the ground. With a low grunt leaving his lips, he was immediately instilled with panic when he realizes he’s on top of you; only to have the feeling wash away when he finally sees the smile on your face.
“I’m so happy,” your hand finds its way to his cheek, cupping it with your thumb gently caressing the skin underneath the bandaged eye. “You’re really alive.” You whisper softly as you take in his features.
“Thank you, kami-sama, for bringing this man back to me.”
Upon hearing those words, Kyojuro couldn’t hold back the tears he’s been pushing back. Fits of sobs echoed throughout your shared estate; the two of you lying on the ground crying both of your hearts out. Soon, the sound of rushed footsteps found their way before the two of you, making you look up – seeing Shinobu, along with the rest of the Hashiras, staring down at the two of you with glistening eyes.
“Kyojuro!”
“Rengoku-san!”
Surprise and relief was written all over their faces and you couldn’t seem to stop yourself from pulling Kyojuro closer to your chest, making him lift his head up; meeting your (e/c) orbs. “Thank you and,” you pause for a second before planting a kiss on his busted lip, “I love you-“
“Ara, ara, I think we all can wait for that. Let’s get you fixed up at the Butterfly Estate, Rengoku-san,” the Insect Pillar muses as she gestures Uzui to carry the Flame Pillar to her estate. Transferring her amethyst orbs at you, she kneels down before running her fingers through your (h/c) locks.
“And you’re most certainly welcome to stay at the Butterfly Estate while Rengoku-san recovers alright, (y/n)-san?”
-
Days turned to weeks turned to months. Throughout Kyojuro’s stay in the Butterfly Estate, there was never a day where he’d thank the gods for saving him; for giving him another chance to live and spend the rest of his days with you.
The sound of laughter fills the air, a content smile crossing his lips when he sees you going through the door with Uzui’s wives. The four of you clicked right away the moment they arrived with a banged up Uzui. It even went to an extent of the girls asking Uzui to make you his fourth wife; you were the very definition of flamboyant which had them swooning over you, making Uzui laugh loudly but would immediately seek Kyojuro’s help, begging him to take his lover before the girls make her his fourth wife.
“You’re awfully cheerful today, my sweet flame.” Kyojuro teases with eyes following your movements, a glint of mischief seen in those sun-like orbs. Rolling your eyes in response, you place the tray on the nightstand before taking the bed table in your hands, placing it in between his legs. “Don’t you want me to be this cheerful, anata?”
The moment the word anata reached his ears, the sight of his cheeks, along with the tip of his ears, dusted in pink had you giggling. “Ora, did our little (y/n) call Rengoku-san anata?” Uzui’s ears were quick to pick up her words, mischief coating the words coming out from his mouth.
Kyojuro instant became a blushing mess, eyes unable to meet your (e/c) orbs as you place his breakfast on the table. “Aw, Rengoku-san’s blushing- A-ah! What was that for?” Uzui immediate retracts his tongue when Makio pinches his sides, stopping him from further harassing the Flame Pillar.
“Anata, open up. I cooked you your favorite sweet potato rice and salt-grilled sea bream!” you beam, hands busy scooping a spoonful of sweet potato rice, topping it with a small piece of the salt-grilled sea bream. Bringing the spoon up to his mouth, you patiently wait for him to open up; a cheeky smile crossing your lips, zeroing the blush on his cheeks.
Kyojuro was happy that you were feeding him, however, you’ve been becoming bolder as the day passes by and it surely has taken the Flame Pillar by surprise. Obediently opening his mouth, you carefully place the spoon inside his mouth, removing it right after he took a hold of everything- only to have him gleam as he lets out a loud “Isshoi! Isshoi!”.
The bowl of sweet potato rice and the plate filled with salt-grilled sea bream was empty before you know it. “Gochisousama deshita!” Kyojuro happily rubs his tummy, eyes still following your movements as you put the table to the side.
You were about to speak up when you hear the rustling of sheets behind you, making you look back to see Uzui being assisted by his wives as he gets off his bed. “We’re gonna go out for a bit, (y/n)-san, Rengoku-san.” Suma sheepishly excuses the four of them, leaving the two of you with a small bow before the two of you could even respond.
“Those three sure are something,” you comment, returning your gaze to your beau- only to see him patting the space beside him. “Lie down with me,” he says as a scoot a little bit to the other side, giving you just enough space. Chuckling at your lover’s request, you didn’t think twice but to climb on the bed before nuzzling your face on the crook of his neck; causing a boisterous laughter to erupt from him.
His index finger and thumb immediately found its way on your chin. Slightly pulling yourself away from him, you give him a questioning look. Kyojuro didn’t waste anytime before leaning in to give you a chaste kiss on the lips. “I really love it when you call me anata, my sweet flame.”
It was now his turn to look at you with such a teasing gaze, his smile never leaving his lips. However, you knew better than backing out from a fight. With a sly smirk, you tug him closer with your grip around his collar, faces inches away from each other.
“How about if I call you,” moving your lips to his ear, you glance at his expression before continuing, “Goshujin-sama.” Your voice came out as a whisper; such velvety voice was enough to send shivers down his spine. The way your breath glossed over his neck was enough for him to pull you into him lap, legs straddling him as your hands rested on his chest.
“Marry me, my sweet flame.” Kyojuro blurts out in the heat of the moment. The way how those words perfectly rolled off your tongue had his mind swirling- images of the two of you married and with kids surely was something he can consider as paradise. “Please, marry me.” he repeats as he sees no reaction from you; eyes slightly widen in surprise, mouth agape.
“Just hearing you call me goshujin sent me into a wonderful bliss,” he continues, rather, “I can see spending my life with you- with our little ones running around. They could either have my hair and those beautiful (e/c) orbs of yours or the other way around! Little me and you showering us kisses whenever they come home—”
Kyojuro’s word were cut off by a pair of lips slamming against his- shutting him up. “I’d definitely marry you, Kyo! Even in another life, I’d still marry you over and over again.” You confess, hands cupping his cheeks with eyes glistening with tears of joy. You’ve always wanted to start a family; to spend the rest of your life with Kyojuro and now with the opportunity laid out to you, it was worth taking!
Upon hearing your confession, Kyojuro’s eyes gleamed with joy. “Really?” You nod your head in response; a pair of arms pulling you in for another kiss.
“Let’s enjoy the rest of our lives together, my sweet flame.”
“I plan to, goshujin-sama.”
“Finally!” snapping both of your heads towards the door, the two of you were greeted by the Uzui household standing by the doorway with big smiles on their faces. “I told you Rengoku-san would act immediately if he hears your amazing request of having me to ask for his beau’s hand!” Uzui exclaims with confidence and pride oozing from him, only to have the girls rolling their eyes in the process.
“Wait, were you really planning to ask my sweet (y/n) as your wife?”
“Rengoku-san didn’t know that?” Uzui nervously laughs with eyes looking at his wives, beads of sweat forming on his temples. “He didn’t?”
“Tengen!!!!”

IM CRYING IM CRYIIING
Tumblr media
One more time
Tumblr media
You arch your head back, running your warm hands against your face. You were tired, well tired was one way of describing how you feel Exhausted, no…defeated. That’s what you were feeling. Complete and utter defeat.
It had been a long hard day and you were in that state of numbness. You are incredibly sad but you were too tired to cry, or that you had run out of tears to shea, what ever the answer, you didn’t care. You just wanted to cry, you just wanted to mourn, you just wanted to get away from this heavy feeling in your chest.
You shivered; the cold night air was biting your skin but you walked anyway. Bleeding and wounded, you journeyed on. Ignoring your feeling, you had to survive. Oh, how badly you wanted to cry and crawl into a ball, the feeling was so tempting. You could just die, right here and right now.
You collapsed to the ground, the tears that you wanted to come out were coming in hot messy pools. Your chest was heavy and breathing was hard and it felt like no air was coming in your lungs despite you inhaling and exhaling. The pain was too obvious in your face:  the puffed cheeks, the red eyes, the scrunched eyebrow, you just looked like you were in so much pain.
You were about to give up, when something crossed your mind, no…not something, someone. You could faintly see his blue eyes and his black hair; you swore you could hear Giyuu urging you to live. To stand up because you were so close, so close to safety and his warm arm.
Right now, you wished you were in his arms, not in he cold ground, bleeding and wounded. You could almost feel his warmth, it was like he was hugging you, pulling you to live.
“You damn, hypocrite.” You mutter to no one, you’re left unheard.” Telling me to live when you have once tried to give up on life. Well, I’m not like you.”

I LOVE U THANK U FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE
beginning of a new future
// KNY SPOILERS AHEAD
//KNY CHAPTER 204 SPOILERS AHEAD
//SPOILER ALERT! CAUTION!
inspired from @kowaibunny‘s post about giyuu
Opening the door to your house, you weren’t expecting to see your boyfriend Tomioka Giyuu standing there.
You remember him telling you about how he had to prepare to fight Muzan and there was a large possibility he might not come back. No matter how positive you tried to be about the situation and the slim chance he could return alive, every night without him added to your doubts.
But he was here—standing in front of you.
Before he could greet you, you quickly slammed the door close before you tried to process everything happening.
Was this a dream? Had he really come home to you? Did you miss him so much you began to hallucinate?
“(Name)?” hearing his soft voice call out your name, you gently slid the door open again to peek at him from the crack. His blue eyes find yours and you suddenly feel your cheeks heating up.
It feels like just yesterday you were crushing on him.
“Are you going to let me in?” he asks but was met with silence. Your hands hold the shoji door steady as you tried to find your voice. “I-I can’t,” you start shakily before he reaches out to try to open the door. “Is something wrong?” he asks worriedly but relaxes when he hears your quiet, “no.”
Feeling him back off from the door, you relax as well before fiddling with your yukata. “If I see you, I’m going to cry,” you confess, looking down at your fingers.
“But I want to see you,” his words are like heaven in your ears and slowly, you push the door open, leaving Giyuu standing in front of you.
The two of you stare at each other for what seems like an eternity before you run into his arms, sobs escaping your lips as you grab onto the front of his demon slayer uniform tightly, scared to let go.
“I’m sorry you had to wait so long,” he says, rubbing your back soothingly as you shook in his hold. “Can I see your face?” he asks, but you press your face deeper into his chest.
“Please?” he tries but you shake your head. “I don’t look good right now,” Giyuu hears you mumble, but a light chuckle escapes his lips. “You always look good (Name).”
When did he become so bold?
Slowly, you raise your head to glance up at him only to find him staring down at you with a soft smile. Flustered, you glance away with a small pout, “Stop staring at me..”
“I missed you, (Name),” Glancing back up at him, you lean towards him as he meets your soft lips in a kiss. “I missed you too, Giyuu.”
Pulling back, you gently raise your hand towards his cheek, caressing this handsome face with your thumb. It was quiet between the two of you, but you welcomed it as you played with his newly shortened hair.
“You cut your hair?” you asked as you twist a few strands between your fingers.
“Well, I can’t exactly take care of my hair with my arm like this now,” he responds as you glance down at his right arm. “I’ll just have to adjust to using my left arm more now,” he responds, but you could hear the sadness in his voice.
Pulling yourself away from his hold, you reach down to grab his nichirin blade before unsheathing it. “(Name)?” Giyuu watches as you pull on your hair tightly before running the sharp blade through your once long locks. “Your hair,” he comments through wide eyes as he watches the strands fall around you messily.
“The start of a new future for the two us, Giyuu,” you say with a teary smile as you point the blade down into the ground beside you. His hand reaches over to run through your now short hair before a smile reaches his face as well.
“Yeah,” he says through teary eyes as you fall back into his arms. Giyuu had never felt so at peace before. With Muzan finally defeated and with Giyuu being able to come home alive to your open arms and your love, he finally let himself relax.
“I love you so much, (Name),” he states firmly, earning a giggle from you as you smile up at him in pure love and joy. “I love you too, Giyuu, so much. Thank you for coming home to me.”
There was nothing more he wanted than to stay with you for the rest of his life. You were his joy and his reason for living.
Pulling you as close as he could with his right arm, he cupped your cheek lovingly with his left hand as he gazed into your eyes, full of love for you.
“Marry me, (Name)?”

I Miss You- Rin Matsuoka x Reader
This isn’t a request but I wanted to do this because apparently I like bringing myself pain. It sucks but please enjoy xx
Masterlist
Word count: 1,697
Laying in bed that night you didn’t realize how much you had really been missing him, it wasn’t as if you could use the excuse that it was because his side of the bed was empty, that it was the cold half of the bed that was missing him, because he’d never even slept in it, you’d started living in your Tokyo apartment only after he had left for Australia, you couldn’t say it was the cold and barren place that was missing him, because it was purely you.
The emptiness you’d been feeling in your chest that you constantly tried to deny was starting to weigh you down.
You didn’t know why you were still thinking about him, he’d made it clear you couldn’t be on his list of priorities at the moment, that between aiming for the global stages and maintaining friendships placed just above maintaining a romantic relationship with you, you told yourself that you understood.
But thinking about it now, you realized, you really didn’t. Not in the slightest.
Things with you both ended on ‘good’ terms. Good meaning he tried his best to break the news that he didn’t have time for you anymore to you as gently as possible.
You’d always supported him. Always hoped he’d do everything you knew he was capable of. If he didn’t need you in his life to be able to do it, then that was okay.
Only that it wasn’t okay.
You weren’t okay.
Looking back on it now you thought maybe you should have put up a fight, told him he was being selfish, perhaps you’d even of called him lazy for not even giving it a shot, but you didn’t. All you did was shed some tears, wished him luck and walked away.
“This is what’s best for him. It’s what he wanted. I need to respect that.”
Those are the things you often told yourself when you thought about it- about him. Tonight, though, tonight was different.
You couldn’t help the anger that built up in your chest as you stared at your illuminated phone screen.
“I’m gonna be in Tokyo for a tournament soon. Do you think we could talk.”
He’d texted you. For the first time since he broke things off. At the moment you couldn’t think of anything but the fact he’d left you and now he wanted to 'talk’, what the hell did he mean by 'talk’?
Your anger soon faded and all it left in its wake was the sadness bubbling up in your chest.
It was late, 2AM in Tokyo which meant it was 3AM in Sydney to be exact, you wondered if he was awake for the same reason as you were, thinking about him, or in his case thinking about you.
Your fingers moved along the keyboard, writing him a response that was neither here nor there.
“Are you sure that’s the best idea?”
You wanted to add some snarky comment but decided not to figuring it would only rub salt in your own wound rather than his, although it was bold of you to assume he was even left with a wound.
His reply had been immediate, leading you to believe he’d been waiting for you to reply since the moment he’d reached out in the first place.
“Look I know you probably don’t want to see me. I don’t blame you but if I’m going to be in Tokyo and so are you then I want to see you.”
A sigh left your mouth, it was heavy and laced his exhaustion, you didn’t know what to say, of course you wanted to see him but the fear of letting him lay you off again put you on edge. You’d been missing him so much but the fear of him telling you that his sleepless nights were brought on by the thought of someone else made the hairs on the nape of your neck stand tall in horror.
“You’re sure you can find the time to fit me into your busy schedule?”
But then you said that. Salt at the ready to throw into the never healing cracks of your heart. It was like you wanted him to change his mind, prove to you that he was selfish so you’d no longer feel guilty for saying it.
“I’m sorry. I was an idiot.”
“And I really fucking miss you, (Y/n).”
But then he said that. Something worse than salt was now in the wound. He was selfish, but he knew it and he was sorry. He was missing you but you still didn’t know what to say, you wanted to tell him you missed him more than words could say, that you wanted to see him and support him, but you also wanted him to know that he hurt you. He hurt you so fucking bad.
Most days you were just numb, loving him but thinking he had never really been loving you, planning a future that you realized he didn’t want you in, picking up the pieces of everything inside you he’d left broken.
The hardest truth of the matter was that you still loved him, with everything you had you still wished you could call him yours, that he still wanted to call you his.
As you sat up on your bed, head in your hands and your phone laying in front of you, more messages started coming in all at once.
“I fucked up so bad… I know that and I’m suffering because of it too.”
“I know not as much as you are but (Y/n) I thought me ending things would make everything easier for you, I didn’t want you waiting around for me. It wouldn’t have been fair on you.”
Fair? He wanted to talk to you about what was fair?
“Rin. Cut the bullshit. You know damn well I would’ve waited forever. It’s you who decided I wasn’t worth risking it.”
By now tears were flowing freely down your face, your hands shaking as you watch him type a reply.
“It wasn’t like that I swear to you it wasn’t.”
“The point is that I want to fix things. Please just give me a second chance.”
You wanted to give him his second chance, you did so badly but the hurt was overpowering the hope and the tears rolling down your face reminded you of the reasons you shouldn’t see him again.
“You know I love you right?”
“Still.”
You didn’t know what you were typing but you kept going.
“I lie awake and defend your reasons for leaving me all the while still trying to hold myself together.”
“And it’s getting harder and harder for me to let you go and every single time I try it makes me wonder how the fuck it was so easy for you.”
“I’ve missed you so much. More than you can even comprehend and I’d love to see you, but I can’t shake the thought of having to live through you leaving me all over again.”
And maybe you were being dramatic, but the sinking in your stomach was something you just couldn’t seem to shake and it only grew as your phone began to ring, Rin’s name flashing on the screen.
Gingerly you thumb swiped the answer key across and with a shaky hand you moved your phone up to your ear but you didn’t speak, you didn’t know what to say.
The line was silent for a few seconds before his voice, the voice you hadn’t heard in months, sounded from across the line.
“(Y/n)… I-I’m so sorry.” His voice was so quiet and soft, you could tell he was crying just like you were, but despite the small crack in his voice he kept going.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you, I know that sounds stupid but I didn’t. I thought I was doing us both a favor by ending things before I left but as soon as I did it everything felt so wrong. I went to Australia and my times were all off and when I asked my teammates, even Sousuke they told me I was swimming like there was something else on my mind. I need you to know that it was always you, (Y/n).”
You were certain he could hear you hiccuping from across the line but you didn’t care, you wanted him back so badly.
“When are you coming to Tokyo?” You questioned your voice small and hoarse from crying, most words becoming lost to you in that moment.
“My flight is in a few hours from now, I tried to sleep but I couldn’t stop myself from letting you know… I’m sorry I keep hurting you…”
You found yourself shaking your head and trying to wipe away the tears that kept coming.
“It's… it’s okay. I forgive you…” Your voice sounded pathetic, you most definitely weren’t okay but you most definitely wanted your Red headed, shark toothed dork back.
“I love you, I never stopped.” He spoke matter of factly causing a small smile to sneak onto your lips.
“Same here. If your flight is in a few hours you should get some sleep.” The chuckle that sounded from his side of the phone sent a feeling of warmth to your chest that you truthfully hadn’t felt since he left.
“Nah, it’s a 9 hour flight, I can sleep on the plane. I’ve missed your voice, I’d rather stay up with you.”
You’d let out a giggle of your own, unable to hold it in any longer, even after months of hurting the loser still had you completely whipped.
“You can take the boy out of a highschool clice, but you can’t take the highschool clice out of the boy.” You’d joked, hearing his laugh boom on the other side.
“Fuck it I missed you. I can’t wait to see you. I mean… if you still want to see me! If you don’t I mean I totally get it-” You cut him off as he started to ramble.
“Rin, I miss you and I want to see you. Just tell me when and I’ll be there.”

| | “i’m already home”
Cheers roared throughout the whole stadium - a very sweet sound ringing through your ears as you watch the team beneath you scream their hearts out; hugging each other with tears brimming down their cheeks as if their lives depended on the game.
Well, it did. It was the game that would help them get to the Olympics, the final step in becoming one of the best teams to represent the country.
The cheers didn’t seem to die out nor did the beating of your heart when you met his gaze for the umpteenth time. There was a tug on the corner of his lips when you didn’t tear away from his stare, unleashing the butterflies from the cages.
“Arigatou gozaimashita!!”
His eyes glimmered with pride and you knew that he wanted you to see him shine in the court where the two of you promised to be at when you were kids. With a nod from you, it was inevitable for a smile to creep its way to his lips; the smile you always adored.
It wasn’t just a smile. It was the smile Iwaizumi reserved only for you. A smile like no other.
-
“Ne, ne, Iwa-chan... where do you want to celebrate?” you query, a little spring to your steps which only made Iwaizumi smile at such sight. “You’re awfully happy today, (y/n)-chan.” Iwaizumi casually teased with a playful grin.
Rolling your eyes at the man, you turn around to face him; stopping him from bumping into you. “You haven’t answered my question.” you pouted as you cross your arms over your chest, tapping your foot impatiently as you zeroed in on him.
“And you still haven’t told me what you were itching to tell me a while ago.” Iwaizumi retaliated with his sharp eyes looking down at you, pressuring you to spill whatever you wanted to tell him.
“Ne, Iwa-chan! I-... You were-” you stuttered as you felt the rush of heat going from your neck to your cheeks. Iwaizumi peers over his shoulder as he ties his shoes, nodding at his fellow teammates as they leave the room.
“I was what?” he asks while slinging his gym bag over his shoulder, eyes meeting your (e/c) orbs with a glint of curiosity.
“N-nevermind!” you quickly transferred your gaze upfront with the most ‘convincing’ grin you could ever pull off.
“Oi, you better stop hanging around Trashykawa. You’re becoming more like him whenever I see you.”
You knew how much you wanted to tell him he did a great job, however, there’s just something about how he looked had your heart hammering against your chest - getting you all nervous and clammy.
“I’ll tell you once you d-decide where we’re going to celebrate your victory.” you mumbled, lower lip tugged outward into a pout while avoiding his gaze.
No matter how much he would want to deny it, he just couldn’t seem to get enough of you. You were you. You never changed for anyone - staying true to yourself. And maybe that’s one thing Iwaizumi liked about you.
The way your lips tug into the warmest smile whenever your eyes meet his during a game, how your eyes sparkle when you tell him about your day or how awesome he was when he did straight-ahead spikes, or how your cheeks would be dusted in pink whenever you got embarrassed on doing the cutest things just to see him smile.
(l/n) (y/n). The name that sounded so beautiful in his mouth. Was there even a name more beautiful than yours? For sure there wasn’t, according to Iwaizumi.
Chuckling at your cute antics, you couldn’t help but get startled when you feel his hand on your head, ruffling it in response to your remark. “Alright, alright.” he gives up before tugging your arm, pulling you towards the direction of your destination. “So, where shall we celebrate?”
“You’ll see.”
-
Whenever you spent time with Iwaizumi, you couldn’t help but notice how everything just pass by so fast. The moment you arrived at the place where you and Iwaizumi usually ate after his practices, you couldn’t help but gleam at the sight of all your favorite foods placed right in front of you.
“You’re the best, Iwa-chan-”
“Huh, you’re not gonna call me how you used to call me, (y/n)?” he scoffs when he saw how flustered you’ve become. A mumbling mess to be exact.
With the pads of your fingers meeting the hem of your hoodie, all you could look at was anything except his chocolate orbs. You knew what he meant and yet, you couldn’t bring yourself to call him with the nickname you gave him years ago.
Haji... he’s always been my Haji since we were toddlers... you thought as you continued to stall, only to receive a soft flick on your forehead making you look at him dead straight in the eyes with a gasp.
“Did you just flick me, Iwa-chan?”
Iwaizumi wasn’t sure whether you were trying to be scary or not but he, for sure, knows that you’re still cute despite trying to look all scary and mad. Rolling his eyes in response, he brings up a slice of pizza up to your lips. “Open up.”
His chocolate brown orbs looked at you, waiting for you to take a bite. You knew you didn’t have a choice - not when he’s looking at you with those eyes. Eyes that were of earthy hue; filled with nothing but warmth and sincerity.
Taking a bite from the pizza, you angrily ate beside him with a pout - receiving the pizza with both hands as you avoided his gaze. “Now, what were you planning to tell me? It seems like you’ve forgotten your promise.” he muses as he continued to put a variety of dishes on your plate.
Right, I haven’t told him yet...
“You did great out there, Haji... I’m really proud of you.” your voice was soft, a whisper that was only loud enough for Iwaizumi to hear. The words that his heart longed to hear were finally laid out for him; his eyes immediately meeting your (e/c) orbs to see any hint of sincerity.
[a/n: s/c - skin color]
The (s/c) cheeks were not the only ones dusted in pink; the tips of your ears were now in a darker shade compared to your cheeks. Were you embarrassed? Kinda. Why so? You, yourself don’t even know why you’re all jittery under his gaze.
Iwaizumi has always been your Haji, a brother you couldn’t replace but for some reason, every single part of you screamed otherwise.
You always felt weak when it came to him, you always felt calm when you’re in his arms, and you always felt like you were in cloud nine whenever you guys rather spend time with each other. And yet, you always felt like exploding whenever you could feel his gaze at you -  like now. “I know I’ve told you this a lot of times but... I genuinely am happy and proud of you, H-haji.”
“You’ve grown so much- you’ve improved so much that it warms my heart to see you become the man you are right now.” you reach out to take his hands in yours, casting your gaze on both of your hands. With your thumb rubbing gentle circles on the back of his hand, it seemed to calm you down, but it sent shivers down Iwaizumi’s spine.
His hands felt rough against yours, yet you still loved them. It may be calloused, but it was a reminder of how hardworking your Haji was. “I’m glad to be beside you on this journey of yours, Haji.”
“O-oi... w-what’s gotten into you?” Iwaizumi stuttered with cheeks and ears tinted in red. The way his heart pounded against his heart scared him; scared that you might hear how loud it was. Iwaizumi has loved you throughout these years, and just hearing the things you said sent him into bliss.
Giggling at his question, you didn’t mind how his tongue seemed to be caught in a knot as you look up to him with a smile. “My Haji’s all grown up!” you faked tears, throwing your arms around him while rubbing your cheeks on his shoulder.
And with just your usual antics, Iwaizumi was red enough to pass out from embarrassment which sent you into a laughing fit.
“S-Stop it!”
-
Both of your tummies, and also your hearts, were full from the simple celebration. It hasn’t been a while since the two of you walked side by side.
The sky was dusted with black tranquility – a choir of stars danced around the serenade of black. The cold wind planted kisses on your faces, leaving rosy marks on both of your cheeks and nose. Times like these are the sole reason as to why Iwaizumi loves walking with you.
It reminded him of how content he was with having you by his side. Just walking with you sent his heart into a wonderful bliss. Glancing at your figure from time to time, he couldn’t help but notice the tiny details.
The way your eyelashes would create shadows over your cheeks due to its length, the way your nose and the corner of your eye crinkled when the wind blew, and the way your red, plump lips tug into a smile were enough for him to smile.
Seeing your apartment from afar, you turn your body towards Iwaizumi; only to be startled when you see him looking at you already. “Ne, ne, Haji, you can just drop me here since my apartment’s near already!”
“No.” Iwaizumi was adamant in sending you home since he had a mission to complete. A mission, well, more like a promise he made with himself. The sound of your whines was enough to snap him out from his own train of thoughts, casting his gaze back to you with eyebrows furrowed in response. “If something were to happen to you, I swear Trashykawa would kill me (y/n),” he adds, taking your silence as an opportunity to drag you towards your apartment.
“Oikawa this, Oikawa that! He doesn’t even care if something’s going to happen to me-“
“Are you sure? As much I can remember, Shittykawa would always nag at me whenever I leave you for a second.” Iwaizumi knew how much Oikawa loved you as a little sister and it was only reasonable for him to use Oikawa as an excuse every damn time. Rolling your eyes at your best friend, you huffed and puffed your cheeks in frustration – allowing him to drag you all the way to your apartment.
The two of you stood right in front of your doorway with you grinning at Iwaizumi. “Thanks for walking me home, Haji!” you beamed while connecting your hand with the doorknob, only to be stopped by Iwaizumi. “I’m not yet going home, (y/n).”
Baffled by his words, you furrow your eyebrows at him. “Iwa-chan,” you paused as you crossed your arms over your chest for the umpteenth time for the day, “you need to go home and rest. You’ve done so well today!”
“I don’t want to,” Iwaizumi firmly retaliates. His stubbornness was enough for you to lose your cool. You tried your best to push him away from your door, but of course, you only failed knowing how strongly-built your best friend was. “Just go home already and rest!” you whined with arms still wrapped around the wing spiker.
Looking down at you to meet your glistening eyes, Iwaizumi tilts his head with arms wrapping themselves around you.
“But…” he pauses for a while and continues, “I’m already home.”
What? you were frozen in your place, unable to understand what he was trying to say. “You’re already home?” Your grip around him was starting to loosen up. It was as if he took every ounce of energy left in you with that sentence, but you also couldn’t seem to look away from his gaze.
“I’m already home,” Iwaizumi’s face didn’t show any hint of insincerity and the way his arms around her tightened had her head spinning. “I’ve found my home in you.”
He found his home in me? your ears couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Iwaizumi, your best friend since childhood, found his home in you. What did he mean? Was it literally or…
“I’ve promised myself that if we win the game a while ago, I’ll fess up.” He pauses as he gently pushes away a strand of hair from your face, tucking them behind your ear just to see your face clearly. “I’ve always loved you, (y/n). I have and always will love you for who you are.”
“Ever since we were young, I knew right there and then that you were special to me. Special in a way where all I could see was you, no matter how hard I try to defy my feelings, it has always been you, (y/n). I couldn’t be the person I am right now if it weren’t for you.” Iwaizumi’s sudden revelation had your heart go wild, opening all the cages you have inside of you. You always knew Iwaizumi was a man of his words and never did he lie to you when it came to speaking from the heart.
“You made me see things in a better light. You believed in me when no one did. You accepted me for who I am, continuously accepting me with open arms… I don’t even get why you do so when there are tons of men stumbling on their feet just to get your attention.” He continued, ignoring the widening of your eyes when you felt his heart beating so loudly against his chest. He was nervous but if he were to stop now, he’d regret it for the rest of his life.
Iwaizumi pulls away from the hug, taking your hands in his as he continued to search for your eyes - only to be met by your (e/c) orbs. “And for all of it, I thank you for making me feel this way, (y/n). I love you. I really do. Not as a sister or a friend.” he ends his confession with a shy smile. Soon, embarrassment dawning on him, he scratches the back of his head while avoiding your gaze.
“Y-you know, you don’t need to tell me how you feel about me right now. I will respect how you feel and your decisions... I just wanted to tell you how I honestly felt towards you and how much I want to cherish you for the rest of my life-”
“I love you too, Haji. I’ve always loved you.” you cut him off with a smile. The way how his eyes softened at your confession made your heart flutter once more. You always knew Iwaizumi was special to you - no one could ever compare to him, no matter what you did, no one came close to Iwaizumi.
“Aren’t you going to ask me that question, Haji?” wrapping your arms around his neck, you tug him closer ‘til your lips were centimeters apart. Flustered at your actions Iwaizumi couldn’t help but swallow his saliva, eyes trying to focus on you. “Then... W-will you be my girlfriend, (y/n)?”
“Of course, I’d love to be yours.” you cheekily answered as you pulled him into a kiss, closing in the space in between the two of you.
The two of you stayed in that position for a couple more seconds before pulling away with cheeks dusted in pink. Raising your hand to cup his cheeks, you leaned in once more before placing one last peck against his soft, plump lips.
“Welcome home, my Haji.”

| | “i wish you.. to not die”
Muzan Kibutsuji was finally defeated. Everyone was supposed to be happy, right? Wasn’t it supposed to be a happy ending where everyone can finally live in peace without worrying about their loved ones dying because of Muzan and his demons? Wasn’t this supposed to be that damned happy ending everyone was hoping for?
That wasn’t the case for the Wind Pillar.
Ever since he awoke from his loss of consciousness, all he could ever think of was his little brother breathing out his last words.
“I want you to be happy... I want you to not die because my 'nemi is the the sweetest person in the world.”
All he wanted was to have his brother by his side and see him happily married with a wife and kids; something that could’ve made up for the years they’ve suffered from their abusive father and for the things they couldn’t do for their younger sibling. Yet, no matter how much he wanted to deny the truth, he was alone.
He’s all he’s got now.
He lost his friends, and most importantly, his little brother whom he loved and cared for so much, Genya.
Soon, the silence was replaced by fits of sobs from every single person as it dawned on them how much they’ve lost that day - just to guarantee their future families and the future nation a safe place for them to live.
With his eyes fluttering open, he was greeted by the blinding rays of the sun – only to hiss out a ‘fuck´ when he was thrown back to reality before he could even join his dead family. The rush of anger was coursing through his vein and it was evident enough when the kakushi treating him retracted their hands upon seeing the crease on his forehead.
“Why... can’t I just die and be with them?” Sanemi cries out in frustration, no longer caring for the ‘tough’ persona he used to carry. The words were bitter against his tongue. All he could see was red; all he wants was to wreak havoc and yet there he was, painfully taking in the truth. What was the use when the feelings he’s been harboring the moment his brother breathed his last breath was nothing but pain, sadness, and anger?
“Please... just kill me.” Before the kakushi could even react, Sanemi was knocked out cold from the energy he used from crying his heart out. The kakushi attending him couldn’t help but let out a sigh and continue with wrapping up the badly injured Wind Pillar.
Awaken by the rays of light seeping through the crevices of the wooden wall, Sanemi lets out a grunt as he felt a sharp pain on his sides the moment he tried getting up from the bed. Everything was spinning and he couldn’t make out where he was. To his surprise, a pair of soft yet warm arms wrap themselves around his shoulder to guide him back on the bed.
“Shinazugawa-san, please don’t get up too fast.”
Sanemi couldn’t comprehend as to why someone was helping him despite everything that has happened and to make things worse - it had to be (y/n).
The girl who he used to call as a best friend before he left to train as a demon slayer; the one whom he never said goodbye to as seeing her glistening eyes would make it harder for him to leave. The girl who he never wanted to become a demon slayer as all he wished was for her to marry and have kids, just like what he always wanted for Genya and yet here she was, a demon slayer, who helped them fight Muzan.
Her (e/c) orbs greeted him with gentleness and care which only made his eyes glisten. The last thing he ever wanted right now was to be taken care of; which he thinks he does not deserve. He eyes the aforementioned girl’s movement before narrowing them at the medications being tucked in between her fingers.
“You need to drink these three times a day, Shinazugawa-san. Come, I’ll help you up so that you can drink this,” (y/n) stated whilst placing the medications back on to the nightstand before she carefully helps the Wind Pillar up. With her arm still wrapped around his shoulder, (y/n) takes his medications and pours it on the water she has prepared him. “Drink this slowly and I’ve got to warn you, it’s very bitter.”
Sanemi couldn’t understand why (y/n) was there. Why would you be there? Why would you help him? Why should you even waste your time with someone like him? he thought with eyes boring right into hers which he received an eye-roll in response. “C’mon, we don’t have all day here.” (y/n) jokingly warned Sanemi as she brought the cup up to his lips.
Taking the lid of the cup in between his lips, he slowly takes in the bitter taste that flooded his taste buds. Slowly but surely, the Wind Pillar was able to finish the medication in one go. “There we go.” (y/n) places the cup back into the nightstand before she takes the pillow she prepared moments ago and places it behind his back along with the other one.
The young woman carefully leans the Wind Pillar on the pillows she stacked and once she finally removes her hold off from the Wind Pillar, she couldn’t help but smile at him. “I’ll be the one in charge of taking care of you, Shinazugawa-san. If ever you need anything, please do ring the bell on your nightstand,” the (h/c) girl instructs with a smile, eyes never leaving his.
“Why are you doing this?” he softly queries with eyes slowly leaving hers. He lowers his gaze on his hands, only to see two missing fingers on his right hand - his index and middle finger. Ah, the fates do know how to remind me how I failed to protect Genya, he thought with the feeling of his heart tightening.
Shinazugawa was not the same Shinazugawa (y/n) knew before. The Shinazugawa right before her was not as aggressive and ruthless as compared to the Shinazugawa before. It felt like he lost his purpose in living. She no longer saw the glint of confidence and pride in the boy’s eyes as it was all replaced with nothing but regret and sadness. “Why don’t you leave me here and let me rot and die?” he continued while blankly staring off to space.
Every single word that left his mouth made (y/n)’s heart ached. If only she could take all the pain he was feeling right now, she would have done so the moment she saw him beg the people to just let him perish.
Heaving out a sigh, she takes the Wind Pillar’s hand into hers - not minding the stare she got from the lad. “What would Genya say if he heard you say that, Shinazugawa-san?” (y/n) sadly asked as she rubs tiny circles on Sanemi’s hand.
For what it’s worth, (y/n) had promised the younger Shinazugawa to take care of his ‘nemi if ever the worse comes to worst and she couldn’t help but tear up when she’s reminded of the last time she met up with Genya.
(y/n) takes in the sight of a panting Genya in front of her, wondering what caused this young lad to such state. “What’s wrong, Genya?” she queries whilst taking the boy’s hand in hers, leading him to take a seat beside her.
“(y/n),” he pauses for a moment, hands uncontrollably shaking in (y/n)’s hold, “please promise me this.” he looks up to meet the young lady’s gaze before continuing, “if ever, may the kami-sama forbid, i die... please do... take care of my 'nemi.”
taken aback by her childhood best friend’s request, she couldn’t help but furrow at him with tears forming at the corner of her eyes, “what’s gotten into you? don’t say such thing, Genya.” her grip around his hand tightening when she noticed the tears brimming down her best friend’s cheeks. “you won’t die… i won’t allow it. you need to come back alive, please.”
“please, (y/n), promise me that!” he exclaims with a shaky breath leaving his parted lips, only to see the young lady nod her head as her free hand reaches to wipe the tears falling from his cheeks.
“i promise, Genya. i promise to take care of your 'nemi until i breathe my last breath but please do come back alive.”
chuckling at her sincere sentiments, Genya takes a hold of her free hand before flashing a cheeky grin.
“i can’t promise you that, however,” his grip tightened, a distant look in his eyes as he knew the worst would come, “i’ll do my best to not get my ass killed.”
With the mention of his brother’s name, somewhere in Sanemi’s mind snapped, causing him to glare at (y/n). “Don’t you fucking mention his name!” he shakily swats her hand away as he could feel anger building up inside of him. He wanted to bury the memory of his dying brother somewhere in his mind. He wanted to solely forget his brother’s tears. He wanted to forget the damned truth that he no longer had his younger brother.
Ignoring his outburst, (y/n) continues, “Please let me take care of you, Shinazugawa-san.” The words that came out from her mouth had him narrowing his eyes at her. He scoffs at her before slamming his injured hand on the nightstand. “If you don’t leave, I’m going to make you regret the second you stepped foot in this damned room. I do not fucking care if we were friends before but I will not hold back if you mention his name one more time.”
(y/n) didn’t flinch nor did she mind his attacks as she stayed grounded on her seat. It was no use riling up the Wind Pillar for he was injured and the last thing she wanted was Shinobu-
Right, Shinobu’s not here to scold me anymore... she thought as she bit her bottom lip, trying to fight the urge to burst out crying from being reminded of the people who have died. “Whether you like it or not, Shinazugawa-san. I’m going to take care of you for that was what I promised... Genya.” (y/n)'s voice falters at the end, however, Sanemi was quick enough to catch the last part.
Quickly standing up from her seat, the young woman bows at the Wind Pillar before taking her leave, however, before she could go pass the wooden door, she looks back at Sanemi with a smile. "I'll be back with lunch later."
Her retreating figure was utterly painful – if Sanemi could describe it as is. It reminded him of the past. The days where Genya would playful sling an arm around the (h/c) haired lady and him, the brightest smile plastered on his brother’s face. Oh, how Sanemi wished he could see that smile one last time. Letting a groan slip past his lips, he leans his head back on the headboard, closing his eyes as hot tears started to fall.
Genya, ‘nemi’s sorry for not being able to do anything.
Later that night as the estate was blanketed with nothing but the serene silence, (y/n) couldn’t help but feel a knot in her stomach; something was off. In a hurry, she didn’t think twice but to head towards the room of the Wind Pillar. All the ugliest possibilities played through her head which sent her almost dashing through the peaceful hallways.
The sound of his heart pounding loudly against his rib cage was enough to drive him to insanity. In his hands was a tanto that he’d retrieved from his belongings. The coldness of the blade that was pressed against the pads of fingers sent shivers down his spine. Was he really going to do this- I’m definitely doing this, especially for how I’ve failed my duties as a Pillar and as a brother.
With the Pillar’s door on her sight, she didn’t think twice as she kicked the door open – only to see Sanemi with the tanto in his hands as he shakily breaths out. “I’m sorry, Genya.” He whispered and was about to bring the cold blade in his abdomen, only to be stopped by a pair of soft yet calloused hands.
The grip around his hands was trembling. Wait, before he could even process what was happening, his eyes immediately met a pair of (e/c) orbs staring at him; pleading him with tears slipping past. “’N-nemi, please don’t do this.” (y/n) begged with hands still trying to stop him from bringing the blade to his belly.
N-nemi… your voice echoed in his mind and soon, as if his mind were playing tricks on him, he could see the image of Genya right beside you as he tried to stop him from killing himself.
Nemi, please don’t do this. Live and be happy. Please.
“’Nemi, I beg of you, please.” (y/n) cried out, the feeling of dread gushing over her as she realized how she was slowly losing her strength. Sanemi had an iron-grip on the dagger, however, as if the kami-sama heard her prayers, the muscles underneath her palms relaxed in which she took the opportunity to take the tanto in her hands before throwing it far from the Wind Pillar.
Sanemi was a wreck. His shoulders were trembling as he sobbed with his gaze cast on the white sheet underneath him.
“’Nemi, please don’t let their deaths be in vain. Live and be happy.”
Live and be happy.
That’s what Genya… his eyes flickered to the (h/c) haired girl before he was brought close to her chest, small hands rubbing circles at his back as if to comfort him. “It’s okay. It was not your fault. Please don’t blame yourself, Nemi.” She whispered; her voice like honey was enough to lull him to sleep as exhaustion finally set in.
It was never your fault Nemi.
Sanemi’s focus was starting to flutter close, however, he couldn’t shake the feeling of having Genya standing right in front of him with the brightest smile, hand reaching out to place a warm touch on his face.
I’ll always be beside you, I won’t leave you ‘Nemi even if I’m not there physically.
Those amethyst orbs he adored so much was staring right back at him and soon, his eyelids became heavier and heavier; the image of his younger brother soon leaving his sight.
-
Days turned to weeks and Sanemi has been pushing every single person who tried to comfort him ever since the incident. He isolated himself in his room, never leaving unless necessary. Often when the door was open, they would only see Sanemi blankly staring at the window with a distant look in his face. However, that wasn’t the case for (y/n). No matter how much he tried to push her away, (y/n) just kept coming back; that smile never leaving her lips despite the harsh words he’s been throwing at her.
The sun was still shining brightly, and the sky was utterly beautiful, spread out like a vast ocean of feathers; but it was just a plain sight for the Wind Pillar. He was seated on the engawa with three different stones, a bitter growl can be heard under his breath before he proceeds to polish his sword. It was almost lunchtime, however, he couldn’t care less. All his concentration was directed at the sword wrapped around his hands – running the nichirin blade down on the stone he has prepped.
With his concentration at its peak, the aforementioned man wasn’t able to notice the sliding of the shoji only to be followed by footsteps. Only then he realized someone was beside him when the nutty scent of his favorite dessert wafted through his nostrils, causing him to snap his head towards the heavenly scent.
“What are you-“
“I made you ohagi.” The (e/c) orbs sparkled as it met his, never wavering from the glares he’s been giving her. Settling down beside the Wind Pillar, (y/n) sets the tray down on the floor before taking the plate of ohagi in her hands, raising a piece of ohagi up to his mouth.
“Open up,”
“No-“
Clicking her tongue, she shakes her head before saying, “Your hands are dirty, Shinazugawa-san, and I can’t let you touch this ohagi.” Still adamant to his decisions, (y/n) heaves out a sigh before an idea came to mind.
“Fine, I’ll eat this all to myself then-“
Chomp! Her eyes widened when Sanemi took a bite from the ohagi that was still tucked in between her fingers; the slight brush of his chapped lips sent shivers down her spine, eyes never leaving hers.
Sanemi won’t admit but he surely loves ohagi and if it were (y/n)’s homemade ohagi, there was no way he’d let the opportunity slip past him. He loved your ohagi way before the two of you were kids; more so him having feel his heart tighten as the harbored feelings he once had for you resurfaced from the constant interaction.
A gently tug on the corner of your lips was not hard to miss; enough for Sanemi’s cheeks to be dusted in pink whilst chewing on the ohagi in his mouth. The flavors melting on his tastebuds allowed a satisfied moan slip past his lips; a rush of heat rising up from his neck to his cheeks, until it reached the tips of his ears.
“Here, open up.”
And with that, the (y/n) brought up the ohagi to his lips which in turn had the Wind Pillar indulging himself in the sweet bliss of flavors exploding in his mouth. Sanemi continued to polish his sword with your feeding him ohagi from time to time, along with letting him drink some tea to keep his mouth from drying up.
Everything was at peace. The birds peacefully chirped, the cool breeze running themselves through both of their silky locks. It was as if every single problem was forgotten. Sanemi couldn’t help but let his mind wander to the thought of the younger lady being by his side, both enjoying serenity. Not only that but as well as the soft laughter of kids running around; white and (h/c) locks running whilst being told to be careful from time to time.
And we would then enjoy ohagi together, watching the kids- Sanemi shook his head, what were you thinking?! It seemed like the stars finally aligned; everything clicking in place to a piece of information he deemed to not want.
Flickering his gaze to (y/n), his heart thumped and thumped – increasing its rhythm when he saw how beautiful she looked beside him. Her usually kept (h/c) locks were down, allowing the wind to play with it; her pink, lush lips were tugged into a smile, and her (e/c) orbs meeting his with a glint of happiness.
“Do you want more?” she queried, eyebrows raised with her hands on the floor as if she was ready to get up and make some more for the Wind Pillar in front of him. Shaking his head from side to side, he casts his gaze back on the sword in between his hands before polishing them once more.
The silence between the two felt comfortable. It was like it was the third presence to keep the two of them at bay. Slowly, Sanemi brings his gaze back at the (h/c) haired before uttering a ‘thank you’; only to have him repeat it when she asked him again.
“I said thank you.” His voice was soft, a whisper that was loud enough for her to hear. It was the first time Sanemi thanked her and she couldn’t help but feel warm at the small gesture. Opening her mouth to speak, she was cut-off when Sanemi continued to speak, his tongue rolling the words out from his mouth.
“Thank you for staying by my side,” he paused, placing the sword down before shifting to face (y/n). Grabbing a clean cloth, he wipes his hands before taking a hold of her hand.
“Thank you for not giving up on me,”
(y/n) always knew how sincere Sanemi’s heart was. From the very beginning, she knew that Sanemi was worth every harsh banter thrown at her because she knew he didn’t mean to say such hurtful words – for it was a way for him to prevent himself from getting hurt. His big, yet calloused hands felt perfect in her hands; it felt so perfect as if it were two puzzles pieces finally being connected.
She has loved and still does love the man in front of him and him being thankful was enough to make her heart feel full and happy. “No matter how much I pushed you away, you kept coming back…” his voice was soft but it wasn’t too soft for her not to hear. It was loud enough for the two to hear; as if he was scared to raise his voice, scared to break what was happening between them.
“I’m sorry—”
“There’s no need to apologize, Shinazugawa-“
“Just call me how you used to call me, (y/n).”
“’Nemi,” she quickly corrects herself before continuing, “I do not mind taking care of you. It was my choice to care for you, even way before we were kids.”Her grip around his hands tightened, causing Sanemi to raise a brow, “I knew how much you hated the fact that Genya and I became Demon Slayers. However, Nemi, hear me out.”
Sanemi was taken aback at how forward she was but he kept his composure and waited for her to continue.“I wanted to also protect you. Genya also wanted to protect you. We didn’t want you to suffer alone and live a happy life while seeing you suffering, carrying the burden that was passed upon you. Genya genuinely wanted to see you happy... get married and have kids because our Nemi is the sweetest person in the world.”
The sight of (y/n)’s tears was the sight he never wanted to see ever again. It pained him. The thought of her thinking about his happiness pained him.
“You also deserve to be happy, (y/n),” he says without missing a beat. His fingers found their way to her tears, wiping them away. “W-what do you mean?” she stutters. Her heart was beating way too fast, with no total concentration breathing to stop her heart from hammering against her rib cage.
“Be happy with me,” Sanemi was red as a tomato. He doesn’t know whether it was the ohagi taking or was it his heart taking control of his mouth.
What are you thinking?! he angrily scolds himself, however, he knew there was no turning back from what he’s done.
“Be happy with you?” (y/n) repeats with her eyes trying to search for his. His taafeite-like orbs quivered- the apparent glint of nervousness was enough to bring the message across.
Heaving out a shaky breath, Sanemi took the courage to meet her gaze. “I’ve always loved you ever since we were kids, (y/n),” unconsciously rubbing his thumb at the back of her hands, he continues, “you were the light that shone brightly during the darkest time, and even until now, you continue to shine the same light... pulling me out from the darkness.”
“Just now, I’ve realized how much it would be nice to have you by my side... with our children running around while enjoying this wonderful afternoon.”
The Wind Pillar surely was a blushing mess; it was a rare sight to see - a new sight for a changed Wind Pillar. If he continued, he would have passed out but he stayed strong.
“(y/n), I love you... and I do want to spend the rest of my life with you. You don’t need to give me an answer but I am sure to pursue you and give you the happiness you deserve-”
A pair of soft lips stopped him. Surprised by her actions, Sanemi didn’t know how to respond - only to snap out of it when the young lady pulled away with cheeks dusted with pink.
“I love you too, Nemi. I always have loved you since we were kids, too, and spending my life with you would be the best thing,” the (e/c) orbs spoke the truth. Sanemi knew (y/n) couldn’t lie and just hearing those three words was enough to bring him to tears.
“Will you marry me and make me the happiest man ever, (y/n)?” he asks, his hands bringing her hands up to his lips- eyes filled with love and sincerity.
“Of course, Nemi.” Sanemi didn’t waste time as he pulled the young lady into a kiss. It was as beautiful as the first one. Her soft, plump lips felt so right with his; two perfect pieces finally finding each other.
Slowly pulling away from each other, Sanemi lovingly gazes at the (h/c) haired lass. “Thank you,” he whispers with a smile, only to have it tug wider when she returned the same smile. Sanemi pulls her into a tight hug, breathing her scent; oh how much he loved her scent.
His taafeite-like orbs soon found their way to the sky and with a smile, he closes his eyes and didn’t think twice but to let his heart speak once more.
Thank you, Genya.
