my farewell post to sparklecare

first things first i want to make it explicitly clear that i DO NOT condone kneeby's actions and if you do then please get away from me

if kneeby is somehow reading this: yes you are hurting and yes you deserve a coping mechanism to deal with the way you were hurt, but its clear that this method you've been using does not help you in the slightest. trauma is not a valid excuse for your behavior

i joined this fandom like what almost 2 years ago now? when my boyfriend introduced me to it. by the time i was done with volume 1 i was already touched by the message kneeby was trying to portray about her hospital experiences

i was interested in the unique perspective of the comic, the fun character designs, the purpose behind the comic, the elaborate worldbuilding, i was inspired to create my own ocs, create my own au, create an entire roblox rp game based off it, ive met new friends and made new connections thanks to your work, hell the main reason i even made this tumblr blog was to interact with sparklecare

not many things have inspired me like that. sparklecare became such a cornerstone in my life, ive revolved a lot of my identity around it and it's been devastating to me that im going to have to let it go

i wish i could believe you're better than this kneeby, that you can do better than this, but instead of bothering with any kind of apology youve doubled down on your belief that youre not in the wrong and that the world is being "cruel" to you

you are an extremely talented and creative person, i can't deny that, but its so, SO upsetting that you've thrown all of that talent and creativity away

i looked up to you and this whole situation is such a punch in the gut

please log off, take a long time to improve yourself, and do better

i’ve for the most part rebranded the discord server now to remove the sparklecare theming

still debating what to do with the game in the long-term, but for now i’ve moved it into an archive group owned by a burner account and added a disclaimer in the description and over the in-game credits for now

of course this also means that im stopping major updates for the game aswell and going fully inactive, which although its really unfortunate that it has to happen, its been fun working on the game

maybe i'll come back to this account later and write some sort of farewell message because there's still a lot on my mind about this whole situation

im going to need some time to figure out what to do about both the game and the discord server, so please be patient

currently i dont want to resort to deleting/privating either of them due to the amount of work ive put into both the server and the game

i will say now that this is an extremely disappointing situation, i am outraged and extremely sorry to anyone else who's hurt or let down by this and i do not support kneeby/kittycorn's actions in the slightest

whatever happens, thanks for you guys' support with this dumb little game that i thought would be a fun hobby to work on

why is it even an option to spend robux i dont undertsand make it free...just a bit weird to like make money off of a comic that isnt yours like ik robux is ingame currency but it still takes real money...idk

yeah in hindsight it's a dumb decision of mine, i have wanted to make them free for a while, it's just that it feels unfair to those who did get the gamepass, i'd wanna have some sort of compensation for those people even if they both are very cheap

okay so i think i’ve come to a decision about the age bumping situation

1st of all: the roblox game

unfortunately i can’t do much to raise the age rating of the roblox game without straight up lying about its contents, which probably violates roblox’s TOS. if you dont know, you can’t pick a specific age limit for your game, instead you have to answer a questionnaire about what the game contains so that roblox can decide an age limit for you. the best i could do is raise the age limit of the game to 13+ by changing the answer for the intensity of the violence the game has to “moderate” instead of “mild”

2nd of all: the discord

the way im deciding to interpret the announcement is just as another way for the ZCP to detatch itself from the fandom. you're only forbidden from directly interacting with the comic and kneeby's posts if you're a minor. if you still find comfort in sparklecare you shouldn't have to completely stop reading it, you just shouldn't post or interact with it publicly. i still feel wrong not enforcing any kind of maturity rule in the server, though, so i'm going to begin enforcing a 16+ age limit in the server. if you're found to be under 16 years old, you will be kicked out of the server. once you're 16, you'll be welcomed back into the server with open arms, don't worry!

i hope this is an appropriate way for me to respond to this whole thing. i do want to enforce an age limit as well, but i don't feel like i have to be as strict with it because of this being a fan-project that has no direct association with the ZCP.

as a tl;dr: the roblox game's age limit has been raised to 13+, and the discord's age limit is now 16+
