Well so this isnt Matt Daemon and its not exactly the same. But.. one man in space... It deserves your full attention. It deserves you applauding Brad for being the one person on screen for a lot of the time. His character takes you on a journey. The earth is in trouble. Was it because of the Lima project that was sent years ago. Roy, with a physiological test roughly every 10 mins, takes off on this journey to Neptune. Sure throw in monkeys, pirates and dead people and you have AD Astra. For me i doff my cap to Brad. Slightly dissapointed at the 'action' scenes feeling like they came out of the blue and rushed. No spoilers but also wasnt sure about the Neptune moment. I get the passion. I think the quote "he didn't see what he did achieve' was. Go see it. Take a cushion. Reverse the idea behind superman. Brandon has grown up having never bruised, never bled and lived cold free. On his 12th birthday the ship he arrived in as a child starts calling to him. Brandon starts to change. Bring on powers he never had and no skills on how to deal with them. But instead of a superman moment we have the opposite. Things start to go from creepy very quickly. Anger takes over and starts to affect school, family then home life. Will brandon be stopped. Is their a solution. The premise works. But for me although some great sequences its loses its way. Im not sure what it knows what it really wants to be. Horror. Or anti superhero. The same coupd be said about venom. Im not sure sony have a handle on this just yet. The square screen, the grain in the film and the setting is perfect. Meet stevie. A no one. Living with his single parent mum and over protective brother. On a trip into town he spots the skateboard kids. Decides they are the people he wants to hang with. Its a simple storyline. Follow the 5 lads through the weeks. Just say the word #shazam #cineworldunlimited #cinema #film Oh boy. I cannot believe what im going to write. A D.C. movie i like. Gulp. With the rush on superhero movies D.C. never seem to, for me, hit the mark. Although when WW turned up i felt they have turned for the best. A young Mark Strong is whisked away to another world where he is approached by the wizzard (djimon hounson) shazam. But after failing the temptation test he is whisked back to normal life. This dark start to the movie sets the tone and i loved it. Forward a number of years and meet Billy. On the move as he is fostered from family to fanily. One day on the run from bullies he is also whisked off to see the wizzard. As a last resort the wizzard hands over the power of Shazam. Just say the word. So Billy and other foster kid Freddie go to work on his new powers. This film builds and doesnt rush. Its a fun trip and doesnt add from the simple storyline. Yet when we add more characters it still works. Wow D.C. well done. This is defo worrh a watch. Sure Mark Strong has a matrix moment but all is forgiven as i leave a happy guy. From living with his dad, meeting Toothless, relationships with dragons. Bad guy Grimmel has killed every Toothless so far. He has a new sight in mind. Light Fury is the female and toothless also has a new sight in mind. The solution, surely if they all go to the hidden world no one will bother them afterall.. I loved this. Dreamworks have done an amazing job in keeping the movies going. This is slick. Defo has laughes throughtout. Sadness is on the horizon. But sometimes you have to let go of the ones you love. This film packs in the laughs using behaviour, conversation and reactions. For me it wasnt trying it was happening. Through in the foster class for the adults, the mistaken identity, the real mum, court cases and it will have you moving from tears of laughter to joy to sadness and back. Defo the cleanest laugh youll have this year. Wont win an Oscar but its funny enough to put on your dowload list. Nothing is rushed but pace ensues as more and more is reveal that answers your questions why. Their are laugh out loud moments, tears of joy at the birth, moments of hope and despair as you cant believe the unfolding of the situation. You leave satisfied yet sad. Excellent performance from Kiki Lane. Really moving. Brilliant from Start to finish. So prefered this over Moonlight. No. There are facts that are true but this, like other historical based movies, is allowing itself the frèedom of 21st century expression. "Mary returned to Scotland from France in 1561 to become the active monarch, and that her reign started well and began to crumble after she married her cousin Lord Darnley in 1565. The marriage soon fell apart and Darnley was murdered by an explosion two years later. Mary quickly married the Earl of Bothwell, and was forced to abdicate by rival nobles who objected to him becoming so closely interlinked with the throne. She ended up imprisoned before fleeing to England in 1568, where she was jailed  again, in large part because of the threat she posed to Elizabeth as a rival to the throne. For me Her eyes display so much in her character from anger, love and determination. Along with beautiful dresses and colours. Throw in Margot Robbie and this queen of indecision fuelled by whispers, creating anxious times. Her hardness is well displayed and sadness of no children lovingly created. There is a lot packed into this movie over 16 yrs. Some scenes could have been intimated and reduced time as it felt slow. One to many beautiful scenes of Scotland. Crossovers to England and back on one level worked but racing through the years when even the characters didnt age was confusing. The trailer leads us to a fight scene. A battle between the catholics and protestants. Yet on arrival gave nothing of grandeur of battle and felt like an afterthought and playground ish A one point i felt im watching The Favourite. Oral sex is obviously the new thing. Best scene is between Mary and Elisabeth but its the one scene that never happened. Each with what they think are special superhero skills David Dunn (Bruce) with never being able to die (except with water), Kevin Wendell Crumb / The Beast / Patricia / Dennis / Hedwig / Barry / Jade / Orwell / Heinrich / Norma ALL played by McAvoy the beast is his real superhero character and Elijah Price / Mr. Glass played by Jackson the mastermind behind it all (although he breaks easily) With all now caught and in an institution will they escape, what is the big plan from Mr Glass. What are the twists that befall us. What links our characters together. The film is loaded with brilliant links to the other movies. Characters, Clothing, script and locations. Its a slow burn with a build to a big final. Then add a number of links and twists. Completely turn it on its head and you have a #Shyamalan movie. I loved it.. Loved McAvoy and ALL his characters.
