Excuse me but Phryne Fisher running in a blind panic into a room crying 'where is my daughter!' And spending the rest of the episode panicking about where Jane has gone was just GAH. Especially given she is usually so suave and acts like everything is coming up roses and the sheer panic. And then her and Jack Robinson rushing up the stairs to get to her.

My heart. My found family heart!

Though the episode ends with her refusing the adoption papers and saying that Jane's mother is her mother.

Elizabeth "Mac" MacMillan from Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

Played by Australian actress Tammy MacIntosh

Doctor MacMillan was very intelligent. She dressed smartly in men's suits, pushed back against bullies when necessary, and offered her medical skills when Phryne Fisher needed.

She's the best historical side character I can think of where their sexuality or appearance on the show wasn’t written to steal attention from the main characters as a flag toting “gay character”. They ALLOWED her to be truly a side character and not just a token rep, and she felt so much more real because of it. It was BECAUSE of her understated nature (but still not disguised lesbianism) that I felt such a connection when watching her. And in the episodes that were central to an old female lover, or addressing her tenuous private life, Phryne was wonderful to her. They had the most fun, flirty, and respectful relationship.

What I'm saying is, we need more characters like Doc Mac! 😭 And I'm also saying ya'll need to watch Aussie TV 🙌

At the end of my one to one with my boss today he casually asked me something about Doctor Who and then patiently waited while I gave him all the necessary back-story to answer his question and then answered it with caveats because he activated special interest mode.

He did look a little non plussed at times but let me continue and then asked a clarifying question 😅. He knows virtually nothing about doctor who, just the basic of vaguely who the current 'dude' is
