not cluttering up the main post with this but yeah fluorescent mistakes ponds is a huge fucking hypocrite. we already knew this but holy shit. like girl you cannot be frustrated with Cody punching shit when this is what you do. I bet whenever he gets uno reversed he's like "ok but I'm a recon commander, this is part of my job. however your spin kicks are 100% unnecessary to your job" which. Is he right? Maybe. But still. This also makes the canon(?) bit where Cody was briefly Mace's commander before he was Obi-Wan's 100% more funny bc what if Ponds was also there for that. Like the batch is like "oh Cody's gonna drive Ponds insane" and then Cody gets on the video call and is like "I'm gonna kill this crazy motherfucker when he gets back if he isn't already dead" and the rest of the batch is like ??? ???? ?????

Plus if I remember right he only calls Cody by his name or Commander throughout TWC:heroes of the Republic (same with Rex) even though Cody yk. Outranks him. And he should really have thrown a "sir" in there at least once. he also sassed Cody in full view of the generals. Like oh my god he must have driven Cody insane if he was ever his direct superior. Cody's like "can you at least fake it in front of the troops" and Ponds is like "nah sorry but vod hierarchy beats out GAR hierarchy and I'm still your older brother :)" and Cody considers strangling him for the 100th time.

Edit: LMFAO OK SO WHAT IF FHIS IS WHY CODY CLOCKED PONDS IMMEDIATELY ABOUT THE BOBA STUFF IN THIS CURRENT ARC. Like he served with Ponds the most + went through the hell of being his commanding officer at one point. he knows exactly what he's thinking and he also knows he can't stop it.

alright so I was joking about how Fox & Ponds were the only batch members to not get the "survives crazy insane and/or sith bullshit genes" with a friend right. And I have come to the realization that if we're counting only canon or canon-ish stuff...Fox might have been the only one who didn't get it? and Ponds just pushed his luck too far? Hear me out here. we don't know much about the guy but what we do is kind of insane:

He was involved in two of the bloodiest campaigns/battles: geonosis & ryloth. he was also not a marshall commander, who (however much they did NOT do this) were theoretically supposed to stay back. He also is a RECON commander if I remember right. so he would have been in the fray of things at pretty much all times

we have the fucking Godzilla episode where he got WAY too close to that fucking thing (was literally on top of it at one point, escaped it by foot ????). And then there's the TWC heroes of the Republic videogame where Dooku yeets him (and Cody + Rex) into the cargo bag of a ship, closes the door, throws it off a ledge, and drops a beam on them. And they're somehow. Fine. Like Ponds somehow got to the cockpit and started flying it????

Also he survived the initial crash caused by the bounty hunters, and that ship looked wrecked.

And he only fought in, at max, the first two years of the war.

Maybe I shouldn't have made him the "responsible one" in my fic because all evidence rn is pointing to him being fucking crazy. Like it's a miracle he didn't die SOONER. anyways everyone in that batch had no survival instincts and bs luck send tweet

i hate avengers assemble sm because it was the reason a different more beloved show (that was objectively much better ive heard) got cancelled and also is goofy and corny af. however it also decided "hey lets have stellar voice acting right next to the clunky animation, and also make some of the most lovable/complex characters & relationships in visual marvel media and then make them say some of the most cringe dialogue known to man."

and as a consequence it has haunted my narrative since i was like 12 and i have a wild crash out about it roughly every three months.

like every remotely important relationship is so much better than 90% of the mcu's nonsense, the avengers actually feel like a team who deeply care about eachother instead of a few guys who reunite every 4 years and fight about it, and i have like 10 different conspiracy theories about the subtext but its also Peak Pg7 Corny Nonsense. Kill me. its also 100% a fanfiction bc they all live in the tower, hawkeye steals hulk's peanut butter, and steve & tony are somehow even gayer than mcu stucky. its so awful someone shoot me already
