2019 almost destroyed me. (Read till the end, there is some good news) I came into it with the feeling I had it all. My visuals were really taking off, I had a high paying job that was helping me save money for my dream hardware/render farm, my relationship seemed to be doing better and feeling I was succeeding is what kept me working even harder. I felt goddamn invincible. Then in the span of 2 months I lost everything. My job laid me off unexpectedly, I had to finally end my relationship with the woman I loved with all my heart for the sake of my own well-being, instagram lowered my account's reach to nothing so no one was seeing my posts (see above, my sales suffered greatly.. thanks @mosseri ), and all the money I was saving to upgrade my computer I had to put towards my food/rent/bills. How did it all go so wrong? I flew too close to the damn sun. I was so determined not to fail that I burnt myself out. Every time there was a setback in either my job, visuals, or relationship I took that as a sign I needed to try even harder, and the harder I tried to improve one aspect of my life the other aspects would suffer so I'd focus on those until it became a feedback loop of constantly pushing myself more. The accumulating effects of stress resulted in my insomnia getting so bad I could feel it deteriorating my physical and mental health. But there was no time to waste, the idea of failure was the scariest possibility I could think of, so I kept going. Even harder. Well this is what happens: its game over. There was a meme long ago that quotes: "Bite off more than you can chew, and chew it" and I lived by it. Guess what, that's how you choke. 2019 ends having spent all my savings on rent, no way to grow my accounts. The pics above are my posts with the highest reach (early 2019) and lowest (now). Clearly there isn't much of a future for my work on @instagram 😓 However, this is a whole new decade. I have so many opportunities working with some big names soon. I'm taking care of myself, spending more time with friends, eating healthy, and trying to maintain a positive mindset. #dustcovery2019 was a blast, even though I was sore and exhausted from lack of sleep and helping a friend move (to the point I fell asleep on the way there!).
