I got myself an Oculus Quest 2 for my birthday last month, but if it wasn't for this, I'd probably not have got one.
Yes, behold the Gear VR, which I'd got for myself with a Samsung Note 9 as an early Christmas present a few years back. The Note 9 was brand spanking new, but the GearVR was pre-owned (impulse buy as I saw it in the window of the local CeX), and as much as I used it for a couple games I used it mostly for watching movies.
As for the Oculus, well...I've bought a fair few games, gadgets, and cables already, and I've already seen ways I can use it as a virtual office too!
Oh, the possibilities are endless!!!

Not an expert, but still
I've tried Some vr headsets (cheap ones), and I can.. pretty much rate some of them. Most of them been used for the "business" purposes (in education), and you know, you have to be creative with all you have to unleash its power~
So here's all the headsets I've tried:
-CardboardVR Cheap, weird thing you have to configure. It's better not to use it as VR, but an AR device with phone mounted above your head and having its reflaction on a piece of transparent plastic/glass in front of you. So this way you won't be affected by motion sickness. Lack of controllers might be fixed my using OSC controllers.
-Oculus go My first headset I used as an educational tool, was (and still is) a pretty good and cheap tool in education, lacks some important features like cameras, but it's possible to get those functional with OSC, neat. Why not quest? Multiple peoples (and kids) are not allowed to use these thing, and the lack of cameras makes me feel more safe from Zucc.
-GearVR Like an oculus go, but has an important addition - Camera. So it's possible to use AR cards for some interaction and positional tracking.
-Vive Focus (Original) Never owned, but had to use one or twice, and from my experience it's like go, but better, because of the cameras and positional tracking. You can put a light ball on its controller and get it working in 6-dof. Plus you get a consistent facing rotation and no head drift, so it's possible to slap a vive tracker on it and not worry about headset's drifting y coord and syncing it with a tracker.
-Vive Pro Eye Perfection, but I prefer not to use it in education because it's bulky for anything but me. And I've never tried anything better anyway. My Leap Motion face tracking OSC makes it a perfect thing in everything. But sometimes, just Sometimes, I with it could do a thing like Cosmos when you have those kick back thingy, idk how it's called.
-Vive (original) Literally tried once in a VR club before I've got my first headset.
-DIY junk First time I tried vr was with my own headset. But you know, it's better to call those thing just a stereo display, because it had no working head tracking. CBVR box + RPI TFT and long HDMI cable with arduino. With a simple click of a key I could turn 2d screen into a stereo image. First time I've ever experienced a sense of deph with a screen. Even 40hz was more that enough to hook me up into thing back in 2018. It you want to get a stereo thingy, better use your phone with CBVR, I had no CBVR compatible phones at the time, so I had to use things I had back then.

Storyline Four people in tangled relationships discover an extraordinary opportunity: a man they know is ecstatic about winning the $265 Million Mega Lotto. However, he is cautiously waiting to turn in the ticket. However, the delay is neither his friend nor the other four people, as his caution gives them time for deception, double-crossing and murder to claim the ticket for themselves. However, who will end up with the money? Pay attention all around, and the viewer can find out.
The narrative of VR theater Some immersive shows have a basic linear structure: the audience is led by a guide from start to finish and follows a single path. The playwright has created a play where four scenes take place simultaneously around the audience without any temporarily. Moreover, in collaboration with Final Draft, David Marlett created Sphere-play, a template for 360-degree spherical scripts that he created.

He produced Manslaughter without traditional editing, but Marlett added a 'blue goo', an inverted editing device, an object that hovers over essential dialogue and moves between the four scenes. This allows the viewer to follow the director's suggested path through the core story-line or to look elsewhere for additional plot layers and subtext. This is because he believes that traditional montage cinematography will no longer work for VR film making, where the emphasis is on immersion. Too much editing and camera switching can easily disturb the viewer's immersion in the frame and also increase vertigo. This approach is similar to the immersive theater style, where the effect allows performers to cycle through a large building performing scenes repeatedly. It is moving from one event to the next in a predetermined path, with the audience invited to wander around the space at will, finding moments of performance whenever and wherever they can. This means that no two audiences encounter the same events in the same order or at the same time, making each visit to a performance unique.
Immersive environments for VR The film was made in collaboration with Samsung GearVR, so the carrier of the film he produced was a virtual reality headset. The director needed to rely on the VR headset to produce realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulated the user's physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment.

There is a lot to consider when trying to make a VR film visually appealing to the viewer, which requires that all the scenes in the story are roughly spread out in a spherical space. This is an excellent test for both director and cinematographer, and David Marlett proposes long shots with pioneering masking and lighting, all shot by the next generation of 3D-360° panoramic cameras. While potentially limiting movement across space (X-space) (due to the potential to induce motion sickness in the viewer), the camera can be moved slowly, including some degrees of rotation, thus modifying the viewer's primary 180° GOV according to the needs of the story, all within 360° FOR. Moreover, all these special filming techniques are something that the director and cinematographer of the VR should discuss and study. Secondly, the film is split into four front and back scenes with a 15-degree gap between scenes. The position of the camera does not change during filming. The audience will switch between the four scenes as they watch; a scene is essentially a long shot.
In terms of sound, the 360-degree view is particularly noisy in all directions and can easily overwhelm the viewer. During the creation of Manslaughter, David worked closely with Samsung to develop a unique quadraphonic soundscape for the 360˚ virtual environment. Nevertheless, VR films do not have to be 360˚ because the viewer cannot turn their head 360˚ at all times while watching the film. The film has to have moderate rationing. Most of the time, the viewer is looking ahead. There may be scenes and scenarios designed to extend overhead and behind them.
Summing up Overall an excellent virtual visual film needs an established director, scriptwriter and cinematographer. This is because it is different from the traditional model of film. It is a very new vehicle, but it also has many limitations. For example, it can be a short narrative or a multi-set story. However, at the same time, because it is such an immersive experience for the audience, it will continue to be a form of non-traditional cinema in the future.
