I am a Slytherin, INTP and a Capricorn.

Do you think it fits?

Hell yeah! Slytherins come in all shapes, sizes, signs and types of people! I think it's more about the drive you have as a person.

Your specific kind of a Slytherin I believe would be more into looking at things with an analytical lens, someone who would have a bent towards psychology, wanting to understand how people work.

I personally believe Myers-Briggs is psychology astrology but if we go by the characteristics of that type, they're very open-minded and innovative, but also analytical and introspective.

A possible career I would see for this combo would be maybe the wizarding equivalent of a social psychologist?

What do you believe that pride month is like for the Slytherin students? (how do they celebrate, others reactions, etc.)

answering this ask ages later but during pride month because of course

hmm, I feel like they would be very much out and happy and proud about it. this is part of them, and yes it is not the only defining trait they have, but it does define a key part of them. and that matters, and they should not have to hide it.

they probably throw the sickest parties in the dungeon and have raves that prefects turn a blind eye because well, they're also drinking the fun punch there 😏

of course there would be some for whom it would be a quieter affair, and none of them would forget the sacrifice prior generations of the community made for them to get here. slytherins are above all else, loyal.

I just wanted to ask if anybody thinks that some slytherins that we read about in Harry potter books weren't ambitious and resourceful. I mean they were included in Slytherin house only because they were purebloods or because they were blood purists or had an inclination towards dark arts.

i'm a little confused about the question so I'm gonna try and answer this to the best of my understanding.

I absolutely do think that might have had something to do with their selection, but I also think that would have been the sole reason for them to be selected only if they had literally nothing else going for them.

if you had the personality and temperament of wet cardboard but that was the one thing you had going for you, I guess that's where you go??

People have this habit of defining the difference between slytherin and hufflepuff as ‘slytherins have selective loyalty’ and it really grates on my nerves because like, I love slytherin; it’s a great house, but you literally can’t have ‘selective loyalty’. That’s not a thing.

All loyalty is selective, that’s the nature of loyalty as a concept. If there’s ‘selective loyalty’ there must also be ‘unselective loyalty’ implying there are people who are loyal to everyone equally WHICH IS THE SAME AS NOT BEING LOYAL TO ANYONE

Can I instead propose: Slytherins will give conditional loyalty.

Hufflepuffs won’t retract their loyalty once it’s given. Screw a hufflepuff over, and they still wouldn’t dream of telling anyone the secrets you shared with them in confidence. Slytherins will be loyal as long as that loyalty is reciprocated. They value fraternity and will do anything for their friends, but once you cross them they have no problem withdrawing their loyalty. It’s precious, and shouldn’t be given to people who can’t be trusted.

But please can we drop the term ‘selective loyalty’?because it really doesn’t make any fucking sense.

We're nearing the end of our reread of The Lightning Thief, I hope everyone has been enjoying revisiting the book and getting involved in the fun! And thank you so much to everyone who has donated to our justgiving page for Save the Children UK!

Save the Children do fantastic work helping kids in the UK and around the world receive the food, care, and education they need and their work is incredibly important, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic

£51 could provide a healthy baby kit containing vaccines for diarrhoea and pneumonia for families in Afghanistan

£66 could buy two week’s worth of ready to eat rations for a family of five in Syria

£85 could provide a severely malnourished child with medicine and vital food at an outpatient clinic for a month in Ethiopia

We've hit that first milestone of £51 which is awesome, but it would be amazing if we could make it up to £66 by the end of the reread!
