Hi! I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm really happy that you exist. I got into Hades a while ago (late to the party as always lmao) but even before that I saw fanart/clips of Hypnos and, well, I wouldn't call it love at first sight but it wasn't too far away. I adore this lad to the point that I dug out the character of Pasithea (who in Greek myths was his gf) and put my own spin on her, I just need someone to kiss this fluffy-haired sleepy lad. And your writing scratches that itch perfectly. It's so cute (except the yandere bits lol) and I just want to thank you so so much for sharing your writing with the Internet. And even outside it you seem like a really lovely person so I'm just, dunno, really happy that you exist. Thanks for that. I hope that the rest of 2021 will be gentle to you.
Hi! Thank you! I can't tell you how happy your words made me! I love your blog and your reactions to the Hades game. I wasn't too sure about it either but after playing it I got hooked (Zagreus is such a sweetiepie.) And please feel to shoot me an ask anytime. 🌸

Made To Break
Part two.
4k
Warning: noncon/dubcon sex, yandere, talk of death. No beta. Read at your own risk.
Note: never wrote something like this before. Hope it was worth wait. Let me know if you like it! Enjoy!
Time dragged on, especially without your phone. You watched the clock, not able to pay attention to anything else.
The house felt different without the god inside. Your gut had been right the first night, he had been here the whole time.
You still regretted returning Hypnos his cloak, it was the only thing keeping you warm in the drafty house.
You debated trying to escape but you held off. Where would you even go? There was no one else who could help. Even if Hypnos was keeping you trapped, he could be the key to getting your dad back.
Also you're pretty sure Hypnos would follow you to the end of the world and then some.
Maybe if you just play along for now, you could show him the truth later when the spell doesn't work on you and he would be forced to admit you weren't the one he was looking for.
"Just one more day." You told yourself.
That's what Hypnos told you, "And when time gets close to twilight, make sure you are by his side." He said, locking his cloak in place.
You agreed, "Is there anything else I could do?"
Hypnos grinned, and tapped his lip, "How about a kiss good-bye?"
You rolled your eyes at him even though you were charmed by his cheekiness and shook your head. You knew that if you responded to his flirting, it would make the letdown worse.
"Oh well, can't blame a guy for trying." Hypnos said before he vanished before your eyes.
You had a sinking feeling of realizing that you wouldn't have been able to outrun him.
💮
It was in the middle of night during another round of tossing and turning when you realized something wasn't right.
There was a humming under your skin, like little jolts of energies that never stop moving.
Maybe you couldn't fall asleep due to stress or maybe you got used to Hypnos being around. He was the god of sleep, he must have played some role in helping you rest.
You crawled out of your bed and went to the window and stared out to the backyard. Little red poppies stood out from the blanket of snow, gently swaying in the wind.
Magic was real and Hypnos was as well, he felt human when you touched him. His grief when he talked about his lover sounded real. And he seemed hellbent making sure not to lose you.
Is it really that impossible that you were someone in a past life, a deity even? It sounded like something out of the fantasy books you read as a child.
You pressed your forehead against the cold glass, an welcomed sensation. You didn't want to admit it. Not to yourself at all.
But something in you has changed or is changing you just don't know what yet.
You just hope you don't lose yourself in the process.
💮
You were in line for coffee when the thought came. It was some honey glazed  pastry you just happened to notice and thought  'Hypnos would love that especially with his sweet tooth.'
You froze, how in the world would you know that? You don't even know if the god could or want to eat.
You rubbed your eyes, it was the lack of sleep you told yourself.
You got to the hospital at the end of dusk, a coffee and a breakfast sandwich in hand. You took a big bite, trying to finish it before getting to the elevator.
It was early but you wanted to be here, even if Hypnos couldn't help, you wanted to at least be with your dad for what time he had left.
You slipped the coffee, grateful for the warmth. After getting in the elevator, you tabbed your foot nervously. Even the last bite of the sandwich couldn't calm your stomach.
You almost didn't see them when you stepped out, had you not glanced to the left you would have never seen them at all.
"Mrs. Johnson?" You asked, even in your anger at your ex, you still liked their mom. She mothered everyone and she always made sure to have your favorite cookies when you visited. She turned to face you, her blonde pixie hair was unkempt. Her red and puffy eyes widened in surprise. You tossed the coffee in the trash can as you made your way over.
"Oh my god, Y/N?" Mrs.Johnson sniffed, "Are you here to visit?" Even her voice sounded rough.
Your heart dropped, "For my dad, I don't know if they told you but he is in a coma right now."
"Oh honey. I'm so sorry, I didn't know." She hugged you tightly, her rose perfume was a comfortable smell in the hospital. She took your hands, her tears still flowing. You tried not to roll your eyes, of course your ex wouldn't even care enough to tell their mom, the sweetest person ever.
"Why are you here?" You asked worried for the poor woman.
"Something happened to (Ex/N), they were out partying and I don't know. Their roommate thinks they hit their head and haven't woken up since. It's the oddest thing, they couldn't even find where the brain bleed was. Or any marks." She shook her head, "it doesn't feel real."
You gasped, not able to make sense of her words. "Like they just went to sleep?" You asked, feeling like you've been dropped in ice.
She nodded, not saying anything.
"How long ago?"
"Two days or so, late during the night." She replied, she didn't notice the dread on your face. Did Hypnos use your phone? You had a feeling he was the one who took it but there was so much going on you had forgotten about it.
"Can I see them?" You asked, you need to see with your own eyes. Surely, this had to be a coincidence.
"Of course, hon."
💮
You had fully planned on never seeing your ex again. You kept meaning to block them but You weren't ready yet because you didn't want to admit you wasted your time.
You stared down at them, at the tubes, at the heart rate monitor. And You knew (Ex/N) was paying the price for your inability to block them.
You didn't love them, not in a way a person should love another you think. But you cared for them and wanted them to be happy. It wasn't until the cheating started, that it got bad.
Mrs. Johnson sat down in the chair and held their child's hand. Her face showed her heartbreak and every time there was twitch, there would be a hopeful look in her eyes only for it to die when nothing happened.
It was just like your father's coma.
You closed your eyes, anger boiling inside your chest. At yourself more so than Hypnos.
How could you been so stupid?
💮
You stared outside the window. It was the first clear day in weeks and the blue skies with the fat, lazy clouds seemed so more vivid than you remember.
Your father's heart monitor beeped steady and true. You couldn't look at him, guilt and anger was warring in your chest.
You had brought in the story Hypnos weaved for you. You didn't know how much was truth or lies. You think it was a healthy mix of both and it made it so much harder to know what really happened.
You covered your face with your hands, trying to make sure the tears didn't come out.
How could You get out of this? You saw some of Hypnos' powers, and you knew that it was the tip of the iceberg.
You couldn't stop thinking about the book, the warnings that you didn't see. This was a god that had once put the world to sleep, and you couldn't see a reason why he wouldn't again if he didn't get what he wanted.
it felt more cruel that he was playing games with your life, with all their lives. It would have been kinder to just kidnap you and leave everyone else out of it.
You looked up at the clock, just a few more hours left to go.
You really wished you brought your bat.
💮
Twilight was beautiful, even with the city skyline. You paced around the room, waiting for a change or for him to show up.
You almost didn't notice, too deep in your anger.
Your father's hand twitched, and you paused, not wanting to get your hopes up. Then his head turned to the side and you rushed to him.
"Dad! Oh my god, dad." You touched his arm gently, not wanting to spook him. His eyes opened up groggily, his head turned to you. He didn't react to seeing you but you weren't worried.
"I will be right back, I'm getting a nurse." You rushed out, giddy with relief.
💮
He doesn't remember you.
Your own father doesn't remember you.
You collapsed in the chair, the doctor tried to calm you down but you couldn't hear anything over the buzzing in your ears.
You knew. You just knew this was Hypnos' doing. Your hands tighten into shaky fists on your knees.
How fucking dare he do this. You gave him a chance and this is what he does.
Without a word, you stormed out the room.
💮

You don't remember getting in the car or the drive home. You knew Hypnos would be waiting for you.
He wasn't going to stop, you could feel in your bones. He would do to you in every single life you live and he won't care the cost it will take.
You slammed the car door shut, not brothing to hide your presence. You stood in the cold, uncaring how bitting the wind felt against your skin. Snow was still on the ground and little red poppies peeked through, bright against the snow.
Your breath came out in white puffs as you stared at your home. For all you knew this would be the last time you ever see it.
You took a deep breath, gathering what strength you had left.
It was time to face the music. To face him.
💮
You stopped in the entryway, not wanting to get closer than you had too. You could see even in the dark that the books were gone as well as the horrible eye and words. The one thing that lit the room was a single candle on the side table.
You looked at the other walls and saw pictures of you had been taken down. Fear tightened your throat and you stepped into the living room. Your eyes darted around but there was no sign of Hypnos.
You stepped into the living room and after a moment, you walked to your bedroom.
You whimpered when you opened the door. Everything was gone. The bed, the desk, all of it.
You took a step backward and another without looking away from your room.
Your heart stopped when you bumped into a warm chest. His arms wrapped around you tightly and his cheek pressed to your head.
"It's time to come home, Y/N." Hypnos said, tightening his hold to the point you couldn't breathe. Or scream as you watched the world you once knew vanished.
💮
You kicked and twisted in Hypnos' arms. "Let me go." You gasped, "I can't get air, please."
He loosened his hold but you were too busy gulping for air to care. You pushed away from and he allowed you to, unconcerned about you escaping.
You tried to steady yourself only to stumble, Hypnos grabbed your elbow.
"I'm sorry I forgot it takes some getting used to." Hypnos said. "You should have seen my brother the first few times. He used to get sick all the time."
"Don't touch me." You snapped, jerking away.  You've been here before, the sound of water rushed to your ears. You turned to face him, to tear him a new one but when you saw him, you were shocked into silence.
Hypnos smiled, and pointed at his head. Two white wings had appeared out from his head and in the middle of his forehead, a single red and gold eye stared back. "So tell me Y/N, what is more surprising; the wings or the eye?"
You shook your head, "What the hell, Hypnos?" Your voice cracked. "Is this what you normally look like?" At least before he looked closer to humans, just a little odd looking. This was something else.
"Hhm, not when we first met but after the... you know, I just have these sometimes." Hypnos shrugged, his golden eyes on you.
"How could you?" You asked and Hypnos tilted his head at the question.
You took a step forward even though all you wanted to do was run. "I know what you did to my dad, to (Ex/N). Was it all a ruse? A game to you?"
Hypnos scowled, "I really don't appreciate hearing that name."
You stamped your foot, "Unbelievable! Is that all you have to say?"
"Oh no, the person who hurt someone I love is now having to suffer the consequences. How sad for them." Hypnos rolled his eyes at you. You have never wanted to choke someone more.
"His mother is suffering, just like how my dad is!" You yelled, hating how helpless you felt.
You walked closer, you knew he could grab you again but you needed him to listen. But Hypnos spoke before you.
"Your father isn't in pain, if anything I fixed it. He doesn't remember you or his wife. He will live out the rest of his days without you but you know humans are so quick to replace family."
Hypnos sighed, "I really did try to help him for your sake, Y/N. I felt sorry for him since he and I were both familiar with this kind of pain. But he already messed up once, I couldn't trust him not to try something else."
You were silent for minutes before you spoke. "You said you would never hurt me."
"And I haven't." Hypnos replied, he almost moved closer, wanting to comfort you.
"Liar." You spat out the word. "You have done nothing but hurt me since you showed up."
You glared at him,"You may have not touched me but you had caused so much hurt to everyone around me."
"And what makes you think I should even care about those humans?" Hypnos hissed, he grabbed your arm but you willingly went along with his tug. Words were your weapons now. You glared up at him, mere inches between you and him.
"Because I do. That should be more than enough for you." You licked your lips, "This isn't the first time we had this fight."
His gaze sharpen, golden and hard like a predator. "No it isn't." Hypnos agreed.
You could tell he wanted to ask more questions, to know exactly what you started to remember. Good.
"I had held my part, Hypnos. I agreed to come, to do whatever you needed from me." You said, "in a twisted way, yeah I guess you did help my dad even if it hurt me. And you warned me."  You closed your eyes for a moment before meeting his again.
Hypnos stayed silent, his eyes watching you.
"But none of the other stuff had to happen. Mrs.Johnson was good to me, she was the closest thing I had to a mom." You whispered.
You didn't know how but something in the humming inside of you knew Hypnos would bend to you. His biggest weakness had always been you.
You laid a hand on his chest, "Listen to me, I'm willing to stay. I want to stay." You thought it would sound like lying but it didn't. Your heart twisted because you weren't lying and you knew it.
Was it really that easy to walk away from your human life?
"But I can't have you hurting people just for the sake of revenge. That is not who I am and that used to be you too." You murmured.
"Things changed Y/N." Hypnos murmured back. Just like before, he covered your hand gently.
A faint memory rises from the depths of your soul. Of Hypnos admiring your hands, always touching or holding them. You took a breath, not yet you thought to this other side of yourself, not yet.
"Then change again, Hypnos. For me." You pleaded.
"It's not that easy." But his tone was softer, you just had to push a little more.
"You once put the whole world asleep because you loved me. You became softer, kinder because you loved me. This is nothing to you." You keep your tone soft, not willing to break the quiet.
His eyes, all three of them, closed in defeat. "Okay...Okay Y/N. Just answer me this, do you love them?"
"No." You said bluntly. "They were a friend once but even though you were a jerk, I felt more with you than I ever did with them."
Hypnos nodded, the third eye opened again while his golden ones stayed close. "Good." He held a palm up, and a small dark, almost black mist formed, you could faintly see your ex and Mrs. Johnson.
The mist swirls quickly, and it changes into a soft white cloud. "It's done. They will wake up, and they will live." The cloud faded away and Hypnos dropped his hand.
His golden eyes opened and looked at you.
"Thank you."  You told him. You cupped his cheek and he pressed into your hand with a sigh, his eyes closing again. "Darkness' sake, I've missed you." Hypnos said.
You leaned into him and hugged him. After a moment, he hugged back, resting his chin on your head. Neither one of you said anything for a while, just holding on each other.
"What do you remember, Y/N?" Hypnos asked, and you shrugged. "Honestly, just small bits here and there. I remembered you like honey."
Hypnos hummed, "I do. Is that all?"
You yawned, "No, sorry, it's mostly just me going by instinct or this feeling of deja Vu." You pressed into his chest. "I'm really sorry."
Hypnos rubbed your back slowly and you felt your body relax against his. This was so much nicer than anything you ever felt before.
"Come, let me show you where we can get some rest." Hypnos spoke, something was off about his tone.  But you followed along anyway, too tired to even think.
💮
"You said anything, right?" Hypnos asked as you wandered around the cave. There wasn't much of anything. You see baskets of pomegranates, onions and other stuff in one room as Hypnos gilded you past it, his hand on your lower back.
Books were stacked on a desk but weren't what caught your attention. There was a bed, big and piled high with blankets and pillows. It looks like what exactly a god of sleep would want.
"Oh wow, this is the biggest bed I've ever seen." You walked toward it, "What side do you sleep on?"
You walked around the bed, keeping one eye on the god. "The middle but you can pick whatever side you want."
"O-oh." You stopped at the realization that of course this would be the only bed. There would be no reason for him to have a guest bed.
"You didn't respond to my question, Y/N. You agreed to do whatever I needed you to do, correct?" Hypnos said calmly as he held something in his hand. A small glass bottle.
You walked toward him, your heart racing at the almost predatory look he gave you.
"I. I did, yes, to get my memories back." You stopped just out of his reach. "Will that thing help?" You pointed down at the bottle
"In a way." He said and you stared at him.
"What are you not telling me, Hypnos?" You stood your ground. "I thought we were getting past this."
"You're right. It's going to hurt, just a bit. But it will help restore you." Hypnos held it up between his fingers, inside the liquid looked like water.
"Why do I feel like you're downplaying it?" You muttered. You took the bottle and popped open the cork.
You sniffed but it smells sweet, almost too sweet.
"Make sure you get every last drop, Y/N." Hypnos said, his golden eyes watching your every move.
You knew he wasn't being honest about something but you will have to deal with it later.
"Well, bottom up." You swallow every last drop. It didn't taste bad or anything at all, not even like water.
You felt his hands on you could do anything else. He pushed toward the bed and that when it hit you. A wave of dizziness made the room spend and he laid you down.
"Oh, I don't like this." You moaned. You didn't notice until it was too late, that he had pulled off your shirt. His hands felt too warm against your skin and you tried to push him off.
"I know, my love." Hypnos comforted, "I wouldn't do it if I didn't need to."
"Why?" You slurred, "I thought we were…" but you couldn't continue.  The heat and the dizziness was too much for you.
"We are. We really are. But If I don't do this now, I won't get a chance until you are older and I can't risk you dying on me."
"I wouldn't have said no." You closed your eyes.
Hypnos pressed a kiss against your forehead tenderly "Yes, you would have, my love. You would want us to have more time. This way I can make sure we will have nothing but time."
His hand slided down your pants and past your underwear. He kissed you on your mouth, and pressed down against you.
You couldn't stop the gasps you made against his mouth as he rubbed you with his fingers. The pleasure you felt was far more intense than what you were used to.
"You even respond the same as you used to." Hypnos told you. "Blood and darkness, I could watch your face all day like this."
You hide your face in a nearby pillow out of spite and embarrassment. "Shut up." You moaned, hips arching against his touch.
Hypnos yanked the pillow away and tossed it out of your reach. He grabbed your chin to kiss you again. You met his kiss with as much force as you could.
"I hate you." You tried to pull away but he just pulled you back into another one. You could the heat building inside you along with the humming, the always moving energy built inside of you
And Hypnos himself consumed you,all of you and you wanted him to. Fates help you but you did. You wanted him to make you whole.
You moaned against his lips, tears running down your face as you arched and peaked.
You collapsed against the bed, Hypnos pressed kisses against your neck and collarbone.
You closed your eyes, shaking with the heat. "Hypnos, what did you give me?" You sobbed. The heat nor energy still haven't died down yet.
"Just gimme a moment, Y/N." Hypnos pulled away from the bed, and you sobbed again.
He came back and shushed you. His hand pulled down your pants, yanking your shoes along off them. You flushed at your nudity.
Hypnos loomed over you and he pulled you into a kiss. You buried your hands in his white curls as the kiss deepened. His knees nudged your legs apart as he broke the kiss.
"If I have to be nude, so do you." You tugged at his cloak. Hypnos laughed, "No, later."
His fingers worked you open and you found yourself spreading your legs more.
"You're so good, so so gorgeous. Y/N, do you know how good you look like this?" Hypnos priaised. And you somehow just flushed even more.
His fingers left you and he crawled toward you. "Kiss me." He demanded and you obeyed, the kiss you gave him was sweet and slow. He hummed against your lips and you felt him pushed inside you.
Your head tilt back to the bed with a gasp. You shook as the moment seem to stretch out, a endless moment of being taken.
You never felt so full and damnit, you hated how good he felt against you. The soft clothes gave you goosebumps as the brush against your bare skin. You sobbed as he moved inside you leisurely, like he had all the time in world.
"Hypnos, please." You begged. Your fingers curled against his tunic, trying to ground yourself against the feelings.
He shushed you, "I've been waiting for you for so long."
"I'm sorry, Hypnos." You whimpered as pleasure built back inside of you.
"Don't be." Hypnos groaned, his hips started moving quicker. "Losing you killed me, Y/N. I never thought I would have this again."
You were lost for words and just pulled him into another kiss, hoping that it will say everything for you.
During the kiss, his hips snapped against you quickly, fingers digging into your thighs.
"I love you Y/N. Fuu- I love you." Hypnos murmured against you. In a whisper, "I love you, Hypnos."
He moaned and you feel the hot wetness inside you. You trembled as you followed him.
You stared upward and the humming had become overwhelming. This was it, you thought weakly.
You don't remember closing your eyes.
💮
Later you wake up, Hypnos sleeping next to you and holding you tightly. He looked so much younger like this.
You could remember everything. The people, your role as an deity, Hypnos, of loving him and he loving you in return and... and your death.
You grimaced as you rubbed your chest, you could feel the sharp burning pain. Of magic that kept from dying like a normal deity.
But now you were reborn in a way.
There was strength in you too now. A sureness you didn't have an human. You blinked at Hypnos' sleeping face. The third eye was gone but you wasn't sure what it meant exactly. You both were going to have relearn one another.
You reached up and touched one of the wings. It twitched at your touch, and you smiled, amused.
"I missed your smile." Hypnos said, his voice rough with sleep."I think it worked, Y/N." His golden eyes studied your face. You stared back.
Then you reached up and flicked him on the nose. "You should've been honest from the start." You said.
"Ow! And I was, it's not like it was my fault humans won't listen." Hypnos scowled at you.
"Not that. About restoring me. I understand why you wouldn't be but you need to more honest with me from now on. Especially since I know it cost you some of your powers." You said as you pulled Hypnos closer. Tears had filled up in both of yours and Hypnos' eyes.
"Thank you. For bring me back. I felt something was missing in me since I was born but you found it. You found me." You  kissed him, chaste and sweet.
Hypnos sobbed and held on to you tightly, his face in your neck. "It worked. It really worked."
You kissed his head, your tears matching his. The both of you weeped with joy, with sadness and relief of having each other again.
"I'm so sorry. It was my fault. I should had gotten there sooner." Hypnos said roughly.
"It was no one fault, we didn't know." You brush his curls to smooth him. "I don't blame you."
He nodded against your neck and you held him.
After a few minutes, he pulled away to look at you. His hands cupped your face. You cover his hands with your own, smiling.
"I still haven't told you everything." He said softly.
"That can wait." You murmured. "We got all the time in the world."
"We finally do, huh?" Hypnos said, and you meet him a long, slow kiss.
It was good to be home.

Sweatshirt
(Oh My God, they were roommates.)
Hypnos x male!reader
Fluff, hurt/comfort
1.5k
Heavy Kissing, family issues
roommates/friends to lovers, modern AU
A/N:, for the prompt: sweatshirt, hope you guys enjoy it. It was fun to write. To the Anon, hope this was what you're looking for.
You didn't plan to take it. It's just so cold out and you haven't done your laundry in a week. It wasn't your fault the bright red sweatshirt was tossed over an armchair, looking better than the only thin shirt you had. It wasn't like Hypnos, sound asleep in his warm bed and would be for the rest of the day, needed it.
Quickly, you sipped it on and got your backpack on your way out. Just this once, you told yourself.
💤
You could smell his cologne all day, warm and inviting. You tried to study the textbook and forced yourself to read the words. Dumb words that you need to know for some dumb reason. Why did you think grad school was a good idea?
You looked up from the textbook and its horrible letters, and saw the library was empty.
With some mile guilt, you buried your nose into the collar of the sweatshirt and took a deep breath. It felt dizzying and you closed your eyes.
You didn't have a crush on your roommate, who has been your friend since the first day of college you told yourself firmly. You just really liked his cologne, a lot.
You totally haven't thought about kissing him for years.
You're going to ask him for the cologen name afterwards. And you would never sniff or steal his sweatshirt ever again.
You were such a lier.
💤
You almost didn't make it back in time. With twenty minutes of you tossing the sweatshirt on it's spot on the armchair, Hypnos stepped out of his room with a wide yawn.
"Oh, Y/N, you're back already?" Hypnos asked sleepily, scratching at his chest. Your eyes followed the movement and you had to pull your eyes away from Hypnos.
You went back poking the diced chicken around the pan.
You didn't have a crush on your roommate. it's just been a while. A very long while.
You noticed Hypnos grabbed the sweatshirt and paused. You held your breath; there's no way he could know right?
Hypnos took a sniff and your heart almost fell out of your chest before he shrugged and pulled it over his head.
"Hey, I'm making some butter chicken if you want something before you start streaming." You called out, trying to sound calm.
You blushed at Hypnos' grin, "Aw, Y/n. Did you do that just for me?"
Hypnos peeked over your shoulder at the chicken frying in the pan and wrapped his arm around your waist, his head on your shoulder. "Too bad you're not my boyfriend or otherwise I could ask for this every day."
"Oh my god, Hypnos. Back off, man." You pushed at his forehead. After a moment, he let go with a laugh
"Yeah, thanks. It sounds great." Hypnos said. "Have I told you what happened on twitch last night?"
"Hmm, no I don't think so." You said, secretly enjoying how domestic it was between you two.
"Okay so get this-" Hypnos rambled on and you tried to listen. You really did even all you could think was how much you wanted to kiss him.
Stupid Hypnos and his stupid sweatshirt.
💤
You weren't trying to make this into a habit, you swear after the fourth time. You just saw it tossed over Hypnos' computer chair and took it without thinking.
Which was a mistake because now your professor was explaining something you needed to know and all you could think about was how good you felt in the sweatshirt. The cologne was still just as intoxicating as before and you kept reminding yourself that you were in class.
Just half an hour to go.
💤
When you came home, the first thing you could smell was smoke. You rushed into the kitchen in a panic and pulled the burnt pot off the stove.
Quickly, you tossed the pot into the sink and ran cool water over it. You stared down the burnt noodles that had become one with the pot.
Did Hypnos forget he was cooking again? You sighed, you were going to have to talk to him.
It's when you went into the den where Hypnos normally was, that you saw him. He was shirtless and only wearing a pair of basketball shorts. It was dipped low enough that you were very aware that he wasn't wearing underwear.
And Hypnos was pacing around, holding his phone and pitching his face.
Hypnos was a lazy creature by nature and you knew if he didn't have any biological needs,he would just sleep all the time and never move.
Your heart sank a little, there were only two people in the world that could get a reaction like that.
And apparently, you had just walked right in the middle of it.
"Mom, do we really need to have this fight once a month? I- no it is! This isn't a fun little chit chat. That's the problem with you guys, you never just say stuff as it is." Hypnos snapped back quickly.
He saw you and gestured to his phone, aggravation was sharp on his face but you knew wasn't at you.
You nodded and stepped out. After a moment, you pulled out your phone to order pizza.
You could still hear the argument in the background as you lay down with your textbook on the sofa. Not that you will be able to pay attention to it. You kicked off your sneakers carelessly, trying to listen in on the phone call.
"You know I have a job, just because you don't understand- I don't need to, I graduated too! just because I didn't become a lawyer like mr.perfect -"
You grimaced at Hypnos' tone. You had the misfortune of getting to watch his family's relationships slowly become more strained over the years even with Hypnos' best attempts to bond more. Charon, his husband Hermes and Zagreus were the only ones whom Hypnos talked to regularly now.
Silence filled the apartment and you looked up. When Hypnos didn't come out, you got up.
"Hypnos?" You called out, "Hey, dude. I ordered pizza!"
After a few moments, you walked into the den.
Hypnos had his head in his hands, fingers in his messy curls. The computer was turned off and you could see the phone thrown on the desk.
Quietly, you walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Hey. It's gonna be okay."
Hypnos sighed, tension mostly leaving his body.at your touch. "It's just… I don't know, Y/N. I'm just… It's always one step forward and two backwards with them."
Finally he looked up to You. Hypnos' eyebrows raised in surprise. "Y/N, are you wearing my sweatshirt?"
You could feel the blood rushed out of your face, with everything going on you had forgotten you were wearing it.
"No?" You whispered.
Hypnos stood with a slight smile on his face. "I think you are, Y/N."
"I'm sorry. I won't -" You went to pull it off but Hypnos grabbed your hand to stop you. His other hand cooked a finger into your jean belt loop and tugged you closer. And you obeyed before you even thought about it.
You flushed, not quite able to look at Hypnos or even think about what was happening.
"It looks good on you. I like it." Hypnos murmured softly.
"T-thanks. I won't steal it again..." you trailed off.
"You can keep it. I want to see you wear it." Hypnos said. He let go of your hand, and placed his hand on your hip, it felt so big and warm.
"Do you want it?" Hypnos asked after a moment.
Do you want me?
You met his golden eyes, it was only because you knew him so well that you heard the unask question.
You placed your hands on his shoulders, and nodded.
The both of you meet in the kiss at the same time. Hypnos kissing you felt like most natural thing in the world. Hypnos pulled you flushed against him to deepen the kiss.
You hummed, fingers stoked his chest, loving how he felt against you. Hypnos pushed at your hips as he took steps forward and made you take backward steps.
You broke the kiss to try ask him what he was doing but he catched you mouth into another kiss.
Your back meet the wall and Hypnos blocked you in his arms by your head.
You gasped against his lips when you felt Hypnos press his body against you. You somehow flushed even harder when you felt his hardness against your thighs.
You pulled away from the kiss, desperate for breath. "Hypnos." You said but you couldn't think what else to say.
Hypnos was just as flushed, his white curls mussed. "You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that."
You nodded, "Me too." You kissed him again, slower and sweeter. You wanted to take your time, it still doesn't feel real.
Hypnos broken the kiss and his golden eyes studied your face.
You smiled, "You are never getting this sweatshirt back." You told him happily.
Hypnos just laughed and pulled you into another kiss.

Made To Break
Yandere!Hypnos x reader (gender neutral)
Word count: 5k
Warning: Yandere bevaiour, dubcon/noncon, sex in later parts
No beta. Read at your own risk.
A/N: part one of two. Enjoy.
Your father was a fool.
But perhaps You were just as foolish.
💮
When the letter arrived, you couldn't believe that the same man wrote it.
Your father always wrote in neat, tight letters but the letters You got were loopy, large letters that fused together at odd parts.
You sat in your car outside your childhood home. The front yard was nothing but overgrown grass now. You could see the lack of care the home had gotten over the years in the cracks and chipped off paint. The overcast skies and trees with just a few leaves holding on only added to the depressing picture.
You bit your lip as you pulled out your father's letter from your bag.
With shaky hands, you unfolded it again for what must have been hundreds of times.
'My dearest child.
I gave it all up. I have found a way to eternity. But it cost me everything.
Forgive me.
I just wanted to see your mother again.
Father.'
"Madness. Simply mad." You murmured. You could feel the tears welled up in your eyes, you knew your father loved your mom. Her loss had slowly eaten him alive since you were a child.
Now he was just a body in a hospital room. It was unlike any coma the doctors had seen before.
The doctor, an older woman with short gray hair and sharp blue eyes, had felt more like a grandmother than a doctor.
But even with her kind face couldn't soften the blow that your father will likely never wake up again.
You sniffed as you used your hoodie sleeve to rub at your eyes.
"Okay. Okay. You got this. This was your home too." You tried to smooth yourself with little success. With a deep breath for courage, you made your way to the house.
When you got inside the dark house, you stubbed your foot on the piles of books by the door and they promptly fell over into a heap.
"Urg, fuc-owww. Okay, Y/N great start.Just amazing." You pulled out your phone. You could make the numerous texts from your partner-no, now your ex but you just bypass those for the flashlight.
You shone the light around, there was nothing but a big mess. Books and papers had overtaken the house and you can smell the old fast food bags that piled into the corner.
You could see on one wall, writing in wasn't in English and strange markings. A single gold and red eye stared back.
"Fuck."
💮
Hours later, you had made headway in the madness that was now your childhood home.
At least your room had been mostly spared. Only some odd books here and there. And the many, many dried poppies on your floor.
You tossed the broom on the floor as you flop down along with it. You didn't realize how bad it had gotten. You only got your room back to normal, let alone the rest of the house.
Guilt swelled in your chest, you should have been more aware. You knew your dad wasn't the most stable person which isn't good but this was something else.
But…
But...
You had been busy dealing with your 'friends' group, the breakup and the last of your exams.
You covered your face, you already cried three times today and you weren't not about to start again.
Your phone buzzed, and you couldn't stop the laugh. Speak of the devil.
You rolled over to your side and pulled your phone close to you.
You swipe away the message, you were not dealing with any of your former friends right now. Your cheating jerk of an ex could keep them all. You had far more important matters to attend to now.
You opened up the gallery app, you took many photos as you could with the last of the daylight left.
You zoomed in on the writing, you had thought it was nonsense at first but after a few more looks, you could see the repeated words. You just didn't know the language.
There was something deeply wrong in this house. You could swear you could feel something was in there with you. But if friend or foe you weren't sure. You tried not to think about how your only protection was your childhood baseball bat.
But what did your dad do? You normally are able to pick apart what your dad was doing but this was something else unknown. You kept checking the pictures with the creepy red and gold eye in hope of finding something.
Slowly you could feel tiredness sinking in your bones, and before you knew it, your eyes drifted shut.
💮
A warm hand cupped your cheek, and you pressed into it with a sigh. You couldn't remember the last time you were touched so tenderly. You think for a moment it was your ex but they never did that before.
The hand left but then you were lifted up against a warm chest. You heard murmurs as sleep pulled you under again.
💮
Rushing water reached your ears and for a moment, you thought you could hear the sounds of birds.
It took you a moment to notice that you weren't in normal clothes but a tunic that went over one shoulder. You saw a brooch with two wings in its place. You should be more worried but you felt too tired to care.
You turned your head with a yawn. Whose lap were You using as a pillow? Before you could look, a hand covered your eyes.
"Not yet, You still need more time." A man's voice... but You didn't recognize it. You made a questioning sound but he hushed you gently.
"Blood and darkness, you are just as beautiful as I remember."
You reached up and stroked his hand, trying to understand what was going on.
"I don't remember… you." You slurred quietly.
"I know. It's not your fault. All it matters is that I found you again."
His thumb rubbed your cheek, "Now go back to sleep. I will be there soon."
You sighed as you sunk back into sleep.
💮
You stared at your bedroom wall, not able to breathe. There was someone else here and they apparently tucked you in bed, blanket pulled up to your chin and all.
You took a breath and tried to listen to any sounds. You waited, surely you would hear footsteps or something.
But there were no sounds, none at all.
It took all of your nerves to get out of bed. You grabbed your childhood baseball bat, it was small but you could still get a good hit in.
You remembered you left your phone on the ground and turned to look for it. It wasn't there, not on your nightstand or desk.
'Great, some creep definitely got my phone.' you tighten your hold on the bat, and after listening for a moment, you slowly push the door opened.
Without saying a word, you slowly walked out though the house. You were sure you would find out who invited themselves in.
The mess was still the same, the writing on the wall was still there. You went through the house twice and found nothing.
You heard the sound of a single bird singing in the backyard. You followed the sounds, it almost felt like it was calling you.
The bat dropped from your hand and You couldn't stop the tears in your eyes.
The backyard had been overtaken by red poppies, there was almost no grass left. the singing stopped when you stepped outside. But a soft hoot had You stared up into the tree and saw a single little owl stared back at you.
It's eyes were light yellow.
💮
It was late morning now, the overcast skies have darkened and You are sure it will start snowing soon.
You had given up finding your phone. You s out of your bedroom.
"Fine, you can have it! Good luck guessing the password, you jerk!" You shouted into the backyard. There was no response but you didn't expect one. You had already tried to find the owl but it must have flown off.
You couldn't stand the smell of the old food anymore and tossed it. You found some tea that was still good and stood in the kitchen, waiting for the water to boil.
You changed out your tight jeans and hoodie for a pair of much more comfortable jeans and an oversize sweater.
Thankfully, like your bedroom, the kitchen was also mostly clean. You found as many candles as you could, which wasn't many. Two kept the kitchen dimly lit.
You checked the light bulbs, nearly all of them had burned out. Just one more thing for you to fix.
You rubbed your face with a sigh, at least all the appliances were working. And you won't have to go without water either.
You flipped through your dad's notebooks in hopes of finding something. It was in the second notebook you finally found a name. It had been underlined and circled.
"Hypnos?" You murmured, "Who the hell is that?" It doesn't sound like a human name you heard of.
You made your tea, tucked the notebook under your arm. After cleaning off the big armchair and side table, You began going through the books in the living room. Nearly all of them were about ancient Greece, which you knew nothing about.
Your eyes went to the wall writings, that would explain why you didn't know any of the words.
Did your dad believe this stuff? You looked down at the open notebook in your lap. You skim some of the pages, the only name that came up was Hypnos.
"The god of sleep, huh?" You looked at the stacks of books. Why would your dad care about some god of sleep?
You keep looking though, and found a basic guide to Greek mythology. You flipped through the pages, "Come on Hypnos babe, where are you…"
You grinned when you saw the name in bold print. You skim past most of the information, but one part caught your eyes.
Despite being considered as a gentle and kind god, he has been known to strike others down. In the death of his lover by a human warrior (whose name had been lost to time) he had caused the world to go into a permanent state of sleep, never to waken again.
Only his mother Nyx, goddess of night, was able to talk him down or fight him depending on the storyteller and restore the world. In oral storytelling that has been recorded, it is said that he still uses dreams in hope of finding his lost love.
"Oh dad. No wonder." Your heart twisted, sad that your dad's last days have been spent on some myth. He must have been so far gone to think any of it was real.
But was he wrong? You stared out the window, knowing there was somehow a field of poppies waiting.
Your gut flipped, and told yourself it was just one of those freakish nature things.
💮
You didn't quite realize when you fell asleep. You sighed when you felt a hand touch your forehead followed by a kiss.
You tried to wake up, but the voice murmured something and you just hummed. Your eyelids are too heavy to open anyway.
When the arms scooped you again, you just sighed and curled against the chest.
💮
You felt soft grass tickle your face. You pushed yourself up quickly. You were in the tunic again and you could see a sea of poppies and other flowers surrounding you.
A thick fog of sleepiness tried to pull you back but you ignored it. Not again, damnit.
You stood up, your legs felt so wobbly like a baby deer. Dispise your best attempt, You fell on your knees, the call to sleep overpowering.
You gasped when a hand covered your eyes. You grabbed his wrist, "No, I don't want to go back to sleep." You could feel the fog of sleep growing stronger. You kicked at his legs but got nothing but air.
"I'm sorry, but not yet." His voice came next to your ear, you could feel his breath on your skin. You tried to move away but you fell against him. Your head lolled upward against a shoulder.
An arm wrapped around your waist and held you firm.
"Soon, I promise. I just have to handle a few more things. I will be here when you wake up." A kiss was pressed against your temple.
You wanted demand for answers but you were already falling back into the darkness.
💮
"Not again." You moaned. You sat up, the blanket pooled in your lap. What in the world was going on?
You were back in the oversize sweater and jeans. You press your fingers against your temple. Those kisses felt so real.
Are you going mad too? Just like your dad? You gulped, feeling so very alone.
An hour later and some crying, You somehow found the willpower to make it out of bed. Snow was falling down now and a healthy inch was already on the ground.
You made it to the living room when you saw him by the window, snow falling down against the glass. His sheer size made the living room seem smaller. He was reading one of your dad's notebooks in one hand, a quill floated around next to him.
Some part of you, deep inside of you knew were looking at Hypnos, God of sleep.
"It's you." Your voice cracked. His shoulders tensed up as he turned. Bright, yellow eyes stared at you. "Oh you were the owl too weren't you?" You said numbly.
He nodded slowly, "You've been crying again." He said concerned, his eyes scanned you up and down. He tossed the notebook to the side as he took a step toward you.
Unable to tear your eyes away, you grabbed for the first thing you could reach, a thick and heavy book. And with all of your strength, you launched it at his head.
"Blood and darkness!" He ducked to the side. You reached for another and hurled it.
"It's you!" You snarled, feeling like a rabid animal. "You did this! What did you do to my dad?! To my fucking phone?!"
The bastard ducked again. "Hey, I didn't do anything he didn't ask for!" He held up his palms, stretched out to show he wasn't a threat.
"I won't hurt you. I would never lay a finger on you, Y/N." His voice was soft, kind like he was dealing with some animal.
You stared for a moment, rage overtaking any sense you had. "You've been the asshole putting me to bed every night." You grabbed another book and hurled it. "How dare you!"
And of course, he sidestepped the book. Which just made you angier.
"I don't care if you're a god. Make my dad go back to normal. Or I will find a way to hurt you somehow!"
"He didn't tell you anything did he?" The god asked, a wry smile on his face. You picked up another book, and he just sighed. "Have you tried aiming? Sounds crazy, I know but maybe you could actually hit me this time?"
"You don't get to be disparaging, not with all the trouble you made for me." You gestured with the book as if it would help make your point.
You stood behind the armchair, using it as a shield. You knew you wouldn't win in a physical fight but you weren't going to make it easy for him.
Hypnos sighed, "No, no you're right. I'm sorry." He ran a hand through his curls, a soft smile on his face.
"I'm happy though, you are still as courageous as you always have been. I wasn't sure what I would find after all this time."
"What are you talking about? I have never seen you before. I think I would remember meeting an ancient god." You snarled, not enjoying whatever game the god was playing with you.
"Most people don't try to fight a god with books, my love. Not even other gods." Hypnos smiled.
"If I had something stronger, I would beat you with that. Be happy that I don't have my bat on me. You still didn't answer anything."
You pointed at the wall with writings. "I want answers and I want them now. You said we met before, when?"
Hypnos was silent, his eyes tracing the words on the wall. He stepped closer to the center of the wall, his fingers traced the words. "So that's where he messed up. I told him to check with me before doing anything." He murmured to himself.
After a moment, he looked at you.
"In your past life, you were going to be my consort. I've been looking for you for a very long time.."
You stared, quiet in your disbelief. He waved a hand toward the wall, "Problem is that the spell got messed up. I think your father was rushing and couldn't finish the spell the proper way. That's why you don't remember anything."
You shook your head, laughing "No, none of this makes sense."
"Y/N, stop hiding behind that ugly chair, and we can talk more about what happened." Hypnos' voice tried to sound calming, but you heard an undercurrent of eagerness. Of hunger to it.
You shook your head, "No, and don't take another step toward me. I can see what you're doing. That lighting thing your fingers are doing, Hypnos." You tighten your grip on the book, cursing yourself for leaving your bat up your bedroom. Not that it would be much better.
Hypnos' fingers abruptly stopped the magic spell. His smile faded and his eyes stayed on you, waiting for your next move.
You eyed him, you haven't been able to land a single hit on him but you didn't see any signs of super speed yet.
You might be able to get out of the house and into the car before he could get you. But what if he just could teleport or something you haven't thought of?
It was a risk you would have to take because since you saw him, he watched you like you were some prey for him and you didn't want to stick around to find out what Hypnos had planned.
The living room front way will be no good but the backdoor was in the kitchen, if you could make that, it would be a longer run but you would have far more chances for escape…
You dropped everything and took off like a shot into the kitchen. You almost sailed into the sink but used the motion for more speed.
You heard Hypnos yelled your name followed by something you were sure was a swear word in Greek.
The yard, full of poppies and snow greeted you, you hissed as your socks got soaked from the snow.
You almost made it to the gate, and past that, you could see your car.
Freedom.
You didn't see the root sticking out of the ground, but you saw it on the way down.
The breath knocked out of you when you slammed into the cold ground and mere seconds afterwards, you felt hands on your shoulders followed by a pressure against your back. Hypnos leaned down, his lips against your ear, and he spoke in must have been Greek.
"No. Nonono." You gasped, fighting for breath but he just shushed you. His fingers brushed against your cheeks almost lovingly.
Your eyelids slided shut.
💮
When you woke up, your fingers were curled against an unfamiliar red blanket. You sighed as your eyes drifted shut, you couldn't remember the last time you felt so….warm and safe.
You heard the sounds of paper moving around and your eyes fluttered open.
Hypnos must have cleared off the sofa and placed you there. You could see the written wall behind him, post-it notes dotted between the words and some of them were covered with lined paper, new words on it.
Hypnos was sitting on the ground, notebooks and paper surrounded him. A quill tip between his teeth, his golden eyes almost glowed in the dim lighting.
It took a moment of staring but you noticed Hypnos's cloak was gone. Your fingers tighten when you realize you were under his cloak. You took a moment to look at him as he kept reading the notebook
While he wasn't the broadest person you've ever seen, there was a solidness to him. You could see the lean muscles in his arms and shoulders. The gold bands he wore only highlighted the muscles.
You tore your eyes away. 'Jerk.' you thought even as your cheeks warmed.
"I don't like you very much." You spoke, voice rough with sleep.
Hypnos looked up to you, not saying anything. He took out the quill and twilled it between his fingers.
You rolled your eyes at him, unmoving your spot under his cloak. He stared, looking thoughtful for a second before he leaned toward you with a wide smile on his lips, "If you don't like me then you should return my cloak."
"No, it's mine now." The words slipped out your mouth before you knew it.
You blinked at his laugh. You thought he would be upset.
Hypnos chuckled fondly, "Word for word."
At your questioning look, he continued.
"You don't remember yet but the first time we met, you were trying to find medicine for humans. I think you were upset at me because you got lost in my cave. I brought you back home and I gave you my cloak so you could get warm."
You sat up against the arm rest, holding on to the cloak. Not ready to give up the feeling of safety yet. You bit your lip, not quite sure what to say.
His eyes glazed over, the quill still spinning between his fingers. His voice turned quiet. "You were so beautiful, so strong, so determined. You fought for humanity, not that they even remember, those worthless animals, the whole lot."
He seemed lost in a memory so you just waited it out, letting him talk.
"You hated the fact I took half of their lives away from them. And that I often took more."
His eyes meet yours, and his whole face softens. You flushed at the realization that you could make him do that, to have that much power over another being let alone a god.
"I couldn't give up the half, it was mine by birthright but I was slower afterward, let them have more time to themselves. And I never took more than half. The only reason I got called a kind god was because of you."
You stood up, still holding on the cloak and walked over to him. His eyes never left you, and you had to tell yourself to ignore the butterflies in your stomach.
You kneeled next to him and after a second, you reached out to touch his shoulder. You were surprised at how warm he was, how human-like he felt. Maybe you were wrong about him.
"Hypnos. I-I I'm sorry you lost them. I can hear how much you love them, especially after all this time. But I am not whoever you think I-"
"How much I love you." Hypnos interrupted, his hand covered your own. "I never stopped looking for you. I just need more time to fix this." He waved a hand to the wall.
You shook your head, "I am not then though. You are just like my dad, always looking for a person who isn't there."
"No, your father was. The woman who birthed you died and is in the underworld now. You, however, are here in front of me." Hypnos leaned closer, he tightened his hold but it wasn't painful, it was almost comforting. "You are them, your eyes, your lips, your nose even the way you move and talk. You are them, given life again."
"How?!" You said despairing, surely even he could see what nonsense he was saying? "How could a god become reborn as a human? Or even go back to being a god?"
"There are ways. There is always a way." Hypnos replied darkly. He took your other hand and held them between his own warm hands. "You haven't even let me talk to you, to tell you what happened."
"I don't want to." You whispered, "I don't need to know what happened. I just want to know what it will take for you to understand that I am not them."
Hypnos didn't say anything for a few minutes and the silence grew heavy.
"Did he summon you?" You asked, trying not to feel guilty, looking at the swirls of words on the wall, in the middle of the circle was a single red and gold eye staring back.
Hypnos stared at the wall along with you, "He really didn't tell you anything did he?"
You dug out the letter from your front pocket. "This was the last thing he wrote to me. This isn't his normal writing."
Hypnos read the letter, his eyebrows rose and reread it again. "Blood and darkness, what a damn fool."
"Hey, that's my dad you know." You murmured, "Also you guys are both doing the same thing, you with me, and he with my mom."
"No, not nearly the same thing." Hypnos scoffed. You rolled your eyes at his words. You moved on, tired of this fight for now.
"Where did dad get this information anyway?" You asked.
Hypnos sighed as he rubbed his forehead. "From me. I loaned out the books I have for this kind of stuff. He told me that he could handle the translation since it had to be a two person spell, think of it as a bridge, your dad could visit your mom every time he dreamt. But I had to be on the other side to help build it."
"You trusted him? I mean you seem like you don't like humans."
"I didn't. This whole mess just proved my point. But…" Hypnos shrugged, "I knew you wouldn't let me just take you without making sure your dad wasn't alone. I wanted you to want to come back to me, especially after everything I've done."
You brushed your fingers along the cloak, "Are you talking about when you put the whole world to sleep?"
"And most of the gods." Hypnos added. "I still don't remember much of what I did. My mother or brother still hasn't spoken to me since then."
Hypnos looked so worn down, his brow furrowed and you wanted to smooth the stress away from him but you held back. You already let him touch you even if it made you want to run. Toward him or away from him you couldn't say.
"I've been so blinded by the thought of having you in my arms again, I didn't foresee him going rogue on me." He murmured quietly.
Hypnos fixed his gaze on you, but you looked away, cursing the flush on your cheeks.
"I took care of the stuff he wouldn't have been able to do. With the underworld and stuff. But he fucked up, he changed the spell without telling me. And he did it badly. He tried to bring her from the underworld and you can't do that, and now he has to deal with the punishment."
"Well, can't you just erase it? Or do a new spell? I mean, you are a god right? Do you even need this stuff?"
Hypnos slid his fingers under your chin, making you look at him. "Listen to me." His serious tone kept you from pulling away. "No one can't take the dead from the underworld. Not me, not Hades or even my mother. It's the cost of life. Right now, he is being punished for his pride and when he does die, there is a good chance he won't be able to find your mother."
You swallow, your heart breaking, "Is there nothing you can do?"
"I don't know." Hypnos said. "I was already putting my neck on the line just to let them have a link."
"What if I agree to go with you, to see if I am the one you are looking for? I will do whatever you need me to." You asked.
Hypnos didn't respond, his eyes glazed.
"Hypnos, please." You begged, "I can't just let him die like this-"
He spoke finally, "I will talk to Persephone. I can't promise anything. I'm still banned from the house after the 'Great Sleep'."
"Thank you! Thank you, Hypnos." You felt dizzy with relief and hugged him. You squeezed him, and buried your face in his neck. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me yet." Hypnos chuckled, his hands on your back,"You might not like what you'll get."

It's not easy having yourself a good time
we're on a double-date with other people... why are we kissing? you're not my date
Credit for prompt to
Hypnos x reader (modern!College!au)
Word count: 2.7
Warning: some dating violence on OC's side. Wrist grabbing, slurs and controlling behavior.
Summary: this was the worst date of your life. Thankfully it's also Hypnos' worst date ever.
A/N: here have this fic. I had yandere! Hypnos I was working on but it's giving me issues (it was supposed be under 1k but it keeps growing).
Also, I am open to requests but will rejected any I don't feel comfortable doing.
No beta.
Thank and I hope you enjoy.
💤☁️💤
You regret everything.
You stared at the plate of food you didn't order, some sad little salad that somehow smelled greasy.
Why did you let yourself get talked into a group date? You know why, you thought your friend was going to try to set up with your lab partner, Hypnos.
You looked at the bubbles in your sparkling water, another thing you didn't order and wondered if the person you were with would ever stop talking.
You glanced up at the group at the table. Across from you with his own date next to him, was Hypnos who was frowning at your date.
At least you had one sane classmate with you. Hypnos had been your lab partner since the first day in senior year and honestly you had thought at first your friend was setting you up with Hypnos. If you had known it was with someone else, you would have bail.
Charlie was a nice person you told yourself and your friends thought they would be great for you. Charlie was just… maybe they didn't know you don't order people's food for them.
"Look what I'm saying, Hypnos, is that maybe that YouTuber guy shouldn't be called out as much. Not his fault people can't take jokes anymore." Your date, Charlie, said loudly across the table to Hypnos who just raised a brow.
You rolled your eyes, You weren't going to let your friends pick a date for you ever again.
"Alright buddy. Whatever you say." Hypnos shrugged.
Hypnos' date and fellow classmate leaned across Hypnos, her breasts pressed against his arm. You looked away, poking at your food. You certainly were not jealous, you told yourself.
"Come on, guys. Let's talk about something else." she whined. The other two couples that came along echoed their agreement.
Hypnos grimaced and sat up taller, making the girl sit up as well. You felt kinda bad for both you and Hypnos. Clearly neither one of you guys were getting on with your dates.
You looked toward your friend, hoping she would notice how poorly everything was going. You rolled your eyes when she was clearly lost in her own world, feeding her partner french fries.
Too bad your date wasn't with Hypnos. You thought he was actually cute back when You first saw him, if not a little odd looking with white curls and heavy lidded eyes. Now, you couldn't imagine a more handsome person.
You found your eyes kept going back to him throughout dinner. Especially when he pushed his hoodie sleeves up, showing off his forearms.
The table moved on to some marvel movie or something but you were drifting in and out. You kept checking your watch in hopes that you could end the night soon without being rude.
You could feel someone was watching you and you looked up to Hypnos' golden eyes looking at you. He glanced at the group, back at you and rolled his eyes. You smiled in agreement but quickly covered it up with your hand.
Hypnos pointed toward your plate with the uneaten food, eyebrows rised in a questioning way.
You tilted your head toward your date who was loudly having another argument over some tv show with one of the guys there.
Hypnos looked at your date for a second before he sneaked you his untouched plate of pancakes.
You mouthed, 'Are you sure?' and he nodded, pointing at a plate of mostly eaten omelet.
You mouthed a quick thank you and dug in. You were half though the plate of pancakes when your date noticed.
"Wait, where did you get the pancakes?" Charlie asked, "You know how fattening all that carbs and sugar are? I like my dates to be healthy."
"What?" You asked flatly. Did you really hear what you just did? Hypnos and his date were both staring at Charlie. Hypnos looked furious and You saw the girl send you a pitying look.
"Oh. come on, you know I don't mean it like that."
You suddenly lost any appetite you had and pushed the plate of food away. You looked toward your friend who remained blissfully unaware of your pain.
Your date swung an arm on your shoulders, you sighed annoyed at the causal possiveness. You only knew them for like two hours but they were already acting like you were going steady.
"Ready to hit the club, Y/N?" Your date asked.
You almost groaned, you had forgotten about the stupid club.
"Uh, sure. Yeah." You tried to wiggle your date's arm off but no dice. You thought you saw Hypnos send a disapproving look at your date but you weren't sure. No point getting your hopes up.
As you exited the diner, Hypnos tripped; knocking into your date and their arms off your shoulders.
Grateful for the excuse, you took a few steps out of their reach.
"Oops, my bad." Hypnos smiled widely, and gave a shoulder pat to your date who glared at him. "Just watch it alright?" Your date snapped as they made it to the carpool.
In the car, you peeked at Hypnos who just winked at you. You didn't hide your smile this time.
The club did nothing to improve your date or your mood. The loud bassy music was almost too loud to hear anyone and your date kept trying to get you to stay on the dance floor.
You were able to duck out of their hold and pointed to the table. They tried to tell you something but You didn't stick around.
You almost fell into the booth, your feet were throbbing and you just wanted to go home. You could just see your homework growing by the hour.
"Need water?" Hypnos asked. You looked up, "Oh I didn't know you were at the table. Yes please."
He handed you an icy cold bottle and you moaned at how good it tasted. He laughed and you blushed, feeling foolish.
"Sorry, thank you." You took a slip, without moaning this time thankfully.
Hypnos went back to his phone, fingers moving quickly. "No problem."
"Where is… um what was her name?" You asked, trying not to look at Hypnos too much. How dare he look this good in the club' dim lighting.
"Oh I forgot her name. But she is doing fine. Told me she was going home with her ex." He pointed to the dance floor where the girl was dancing against another guy, their mouths glued together.
You looked back at him, but he already was back to texting on his phone. He didn't seem upset at all.
"I'm sorry, Hypnos." You said awkwardly, not sure of what to make of this whole night.
"Don't be. I'm not." He shrugged. You couldn't help but notice how nicely the red hoodie fit him.
"I will admit though I don't think I will be trusting our friend's matchmaking skills after tonight." Hypnos looked at you, his amused smile made you smile in return.
"You and I both." You murmured your agreement.
You finished off your drink, eyeing him.
After a few more minutes, your willpower broke.
"Okay I gotta know. It has been months since I met you and it is bugging the crap out of me." You leaned forward to him.
He looked up from his phone, a white eyebrow raised.
"Is Hypnos your real name?" You asked him, not quite able to look away from him. You were being a silly school girl and you knew it.
He laughed, "Yeah, it is." He moved closer, his eyes bright. "Wanna know why?"
At your nod, he spoke. "When my mom was pregnant with me and my brother. She got kinda crunchy, got into healing crystals and tarot cards, stuff like that."
Hypnos waved a hand. "So when she couldn't pick names for us, she went to a psychic, who told her that she was a reincarnation of the goddess Nyx. And apparently she was pregnant again with the reincarnated gods of sleep and death."
You couldn't help the small laugh and Hypnos chuckled as he took a sip of his beer.
"Mom believed the guy." He pointed to himself, " So ta-da I got named Hypnos. And my brother is Thanatos."
"Your mom sounds like a fun lady." You played with your hair, enjoying the warmth in your stomach. You couldn't remember the last time someone made you feel such things.
"Oh definitely. I never know what I'm going to get when I see her." Hypnos said fondly.
When You shifted your seat, your leg brushed against his. You almost pulled away but Hypnos pressed his leg against yours. You could feel the heat of his body and it just made you want more.
His golden eyes searched yours, silently asking if he could do this. You returned the gentle pressure and flushed at his soft smile.
"How does your brother handle the whole Thanos name thing?" You asked, desperately trying to calm your racing heart.
A devious glint lit Hypnos' eyes, "Oh he hates it so much. He already hated the whole super hero thing. Last year for his birthday, I got him a cardboard cutout of the big guy. I thought he was going to shove it down my throat. I got his boyfriend Zagreus and their girlfriend Meg in on it this year, we going to -"
"Hey Y/N. Are you coming back to the floor?" Charlie's eyes narrowed, "Hypnos, I think your actual date is looking for you."
You pulled away, you had forgotten about Charlie and you couldn't help but feel some guilt, even if you didn't like them that much or at all.
Hypnos stayed in place, amusement on his face. You saw Charlie's fists clenched and knew they were about to start a fight and stood up.
You were definitely going to block Charlie's number after tonight was over.
"Come on, let's get some drinks for everyone. They should be coming back soon." You motioned for Charlie to follow you. They glared at Hypnos before following you.
You couldn't resist a quick glance back to Hypnos, who raised his beer at you in a 'cheers' motion.
💤☁️💤
Charlie was sullen and quiet as you ordered more drinks for the group. You couldn't blame them really, anyone would be put out when their dates are clearly having a better time with someone else.
Well, not Hypnos but Hypnos wasn't exactly normal, you thought fondly.
You tapped the bar, guilt gnawed at your guts as your thoughts went back to Hypnos.
"So what were you guys talking about?" Charlie slurred, his tone icy.
You took a breath, just a few more hours you reminded yourself. "Nothing much. Just about his brothers and stuff."
Charlie crowded into your space. You can smell the booze and sweat on them.
"You guys seemed like you were sitting pretty close considering you were talking about 'brothers'." They did a finger quote.
You rolled your eyes, unable to stand being near them any longer. You stepped away to head back to let your friends you were bailing for the night.
"Tell me what he said to you." Charlie demanded as they grabbed your wrist harshly.
"Ow, let go of me! You are hurting me, Charlie." You hissed, trying not to draw any attention.
"Tell me." They hisses back.
"I did. Buy your own drink, I'm going home." You tried to yank your hand away but they didn't let go.
"Look I've been nothing but nice to you and you're cuddling up to another guy on our date like some slut." They changed their tone, trying to sound more upset than controlling but it just made your stomach twisted in disgust.
You opened your mouth to defend yourself but after a moment you shut it, "You're right. Clearly this isn't going to work out so let me go."
"No, you own me something, Y/N." Charlie leaned toward you. "And I'm not leaving empty handed."
"Fuck off." You snapped, fear rising in your chest.
"Hey, man." Hypnos grabbed Charlie's wrist and squeezed tightly enough that they were forced to let go of your wrist. His normal light-hearted tone was hard. "I think Y/N had enough of your company tonight."
You took some steps back, shaking a little. Without looking at you, Hypnos asked. "Y/N, do you need to go get anything?"
"N-no. I have everything. I want to leave." You hated how weak you sounded and you wished that you never came out at all.
Hypnos held on to Charlie's wrist and yanked them toward him. You heard Hypnos murmur something to them.
Fear flashed over Charlie's face and they stumbled backward. "Fine. Whatever asshole."
Hypnos turned to you, his eyes darkened by his anger. "Come on, I can get you a ride home."
You just nodded, feeling very exhausted and close to tears.
💤☁️💤
The cold wind felt like heaven after the heat of the overflowing club. At least for the first two minutes.
You just walked, not quite sure where to go. Hypnos walked next to you, easily keeping up with your pace.
Neither one of you said anything as you tried to process the horrible night.
After walking for ten more minutes, Hypnos spoke up. "There is a park nearby, we should be able to find a park bench."
You just nodded, Hypnos offered an arm and after a moment you took it. You pressed your cheek against his shoulder, soaking in his body heat.
The park was empty, lit by warm path lights.
"Thank you." You said. "You didn't have to do anything for me."
"It's all good. How about the wrist?" Hypnos asked softly.
"It doesn't hurt. Thank you since you stepped in." You patted his forearm.
Hypnos sighed, "No. Not thanks to me actually. Its kinda my fault, I've been pushing their buttons for most of the night."
You looked up at Hypnos, your brow furrowed. "What? No, they have been pretty rude since the start of the date. I mean, you heard the salad thing. They ordered it for me!"
Hypnos shook his head. His breath coming out in white puffs. "Yeah and because I was jealous, I made a bad date into a nightmare. I knew I was making them feel all threatened, it wasn't hard honestly. I didn't think they would grab you like that. I just thought they would be a bad date you could laugh about later."
It took you a moment to process his words. You stopped on the park path, staring off at the lake.
"You were jealous?" You asked, not quite believing what you were hearing.
"Very." Hypnos chuckled bitterly.
"Hypnos, you are an idiot." You said blankly.
He opened his mouth to say something but you pulled him down by his collar to kiss him.
At first, Hypnos doesn't return your kiss and you pull away, an apology already on your lips.
But he cupped your face and met you again in a sweet, slow kiss. He kept pulling away to press chaste kisses against your lips and cheeks.
"Damnit, I was planning on asking out you after our last class assignment. I had a plan for everything. I was going to take you to your favorite coffee shop and buy you that dumb drink you like. Take you the park by our dorms and ask you by the duck pond." Hypnos said between kisses and pressing one last long kiss against your lips.
You hummed, unable to think straight. "Our friend ruined that, huh." You laughed when you could feel him growled against your lips. "You have no idea, I had a speech and everything."
After another long and soft kiss, both of you pulled away only to met again in a forehead press. Your white puffs of breath mingled together and your heart felt so full.
"You could still do the coffee and the speech. And the ducks." You whispered.
"Yeah?" Hypnos asked softly, his thumb caressed your cheek.
"I have to do a lab with a very cute classmate tomorrow but I'm free after that." You flushed, pleased at the fond smile Hypnos had.
"That's funny, so am I." Hypnos replied.
Unable to hold off any longer, you pulled him into another kiss, one of the many yet to come.

And part b to part six.
Warning:.some spicness, like kissing and stuff.
🌙💤💤🌙
*Reader's pov*
You were bone tired but pleased with your process. You pushed your hair out your face. Lately you had taken to wearing it down, it was nice not to have to fuss with fixing a bun or the headache that came with it sometimes
You hummed a song as you began collecting the next round of scrolls. You
You heard the door open and your eyes widened, "Hypnos! Here for a second time?"
You waved him in with a smile. He gives a smile in return, "Yeah, I got done early so I decided to stop by to check in."
You noticed there was a tension in his body that you haven't seen before but you decided to hold your tongue for now.
"It's going well. Come on, I got the backroom nearly done. I'll give you a tour."
You motioned to Hypnos to follow you, eager to show off your work. You didn't notice how his eyes stayed on you the whole time.
"So I got the history area set up, and I got it broken down by the time period followed by the area…" you chatted as Hypnos floated behind you. He was mostly quiet except for a quick question here or there.
"And that is it for now." You said, fingers brushing across the wooden shelves.
You looked at Hypnos, candle light was always good to Hypnos. It has taken some time to admit to yourself that You did like the strange handsome look of your husband. Now it was something you couldn't stop thinking about.
"Impressive. Do you enjoy doing this?" He asked.
You tilted your head, not expecting that question. "I do. I like the stories and even the non fiction can help give context to what a story is about."
Hypnos smiled, and damn it, you could feel a blush forming.
"Is this what you would do if you had a choice?"
"I…" You bit your lips, not quite sure what to say. "Maybe. I think I would, but I could be happy doing something else."
"Are you unhappy with your work?" You tried to keep your tone casual. It was already unusual for Hypnos to visit twice in one day and ask questions like these. It was silly but you didn't want to scare him off. Even if he was your husband, he was more like an acquaintance right now.
"That would be putting it mildly." Hypnos shrugged. "Not exactly the type of guy you would want doing paperwork, but that's all I do."
"Why do it then?" You frowned, "I mean being the god of sleep would have to be a full time job on its own."
Hypnos didn't say anything for a few moments, and you feared you may have pushed too much.
"What exactly did your family tell you? About the war, I mean?" Hypnos asked, his voice soft.
You crossed your arms and shifted on your feet. This wasn't what you expected. You still didn't like to think about it. That war had cost so much more problems than it fixed.
"My mother told me some things but not what you did. She did say you were the only reason she didn't lose a war. Which is huge if you know what my mother is like." You locked eyes with Hypnos. You could see the guilt on his face, another thing that surprised you tonight.
"Well, Aphrodite helped some. Even if she didn't realize it." Hypnos matched your gaze.
He grinned a little, and held up two fingers."I…put Zeus to sleep. Twice. I don't think he found out the second time, I was much more careful the second time around."
You gasped at him, "How in the world did you even get close enough to do that?"
This time Hypnos laughed and you tried to ignore the warmth in your body.
"I was a determined and a very stupid child back then. I thought I needed to prove I was worthy of being called a god." Hypnos looked amused at the thought of his younger self. "I saw Zeus had a hard time saying no to a pretty face and gave your mother the idea to trick Zeus by using his own ego against him."
You shook your head with a laugh, "No wonder my mother didn't say much, she probably was mad she didn't think of it first."
"After that, my mother wasn't exactly pleased that I was getting involved with the Olympians so much. She talked Hades into keeping me here until I grew up some. So now I'm here, listing off the dead. I think Mom was trying to show me the cost of that war."
"Oh, it's been so long since that war though. Surely she must have forgiven you by now." You had been a child yourself, just on the cusp of becoming a woman. Those hazy days of youth seem so long ago.
"I suspect if it wasn't for the current war right now, I would probably be out of the house."
A moment of silence then Hypnos floated closer, "Actually, could I confess something? You're probably not going to like me much afterwards though. But I need to tell you."
"Hypnos, I doubt that very much." You watched him stop his floating and stand. You noticed that he could block you from the door, but you felt comfortable enough with Hypnos. And you were sure he wouldn't do anything. Honestly, you weren't sure if you would say no if he did try something.
His face turned serious, "I really hope so."
You frowned at him, "Hypnos, just tell me. I don't like these kinds of games." You couldn't help the nervousness in your voice. If this was some joke…
"I helped your mother for a reason. I… I did it for you." Hypnos said quietly.
You stared, not quite understanding. "But we never even met…"
"No, we have once,Y/N. I don't think you noticed me the other times." Hypnos respond desperately.
You shook your head and took a step backwards, the shelves pressed against your back.
Hypnos grabbed your shoulders, firm but not bruising. He got close enough that you could feel his body heat and you looked away from him. You hated how your heart flip flopped between wanting to push him away and pulling him closer.
"This isn't funny, Hypnos." You snapped at him.
"No, it's not." Hypnos grabbed your chin. "Hey, Y/N look at me. Hey."
You gave in the gentle pressure and allowed Hypnos to pull your face up. You realized you were trembling as you met his light golden eyes.
"You really don't remember me, do you?" He whispered. You shook your head, unable to speak.
"I remember. Each time I saw you. The first time, you didn't see me I think. It was a party, you were dancing with one of your sisters. I was there because I wanted to see what the big deal was about the Olympians."
His thumb brushed your face, a small smile on his. "The second time was when I first tricked Zeus, you were in the hallways and I had to hide so no one would see me. I almost got caught anyway since I couldn't take my eyes away from you."
You couldn't look away, you almost felt like you were in a trance, only able to listen to Hypnos' voice. "The third time… I was in your mother's living room, and I could see you in the garden. I sneaked off so I could get a closer look, and that when I found you trying to listen in. You looked like a painting to me, this beautiful little goddess hidden among flowers. I had to send you off before I could even talk to you."
Your eyes widen, an old memory rushing back.
"The red poppies." You murmured and Hypnos' face lit up.
"She tried to offer me anything. Wealth, boons or strength, anything a young god could want. But… I wanted you. My mother tried to stop it, to save you from my foolishness, but Hera had already swore to the river Styx."
"Hypnos- I - this is too much." You shook your head. You placed your hands on his chest, but you were trembling too much to push him away. Your hand just curled into his tunic, shaking in a mix of anger and stock. And hurt, you thought maybe you could trust him.
"How- I can't even talk to you. My sisters-" you pulled your face away from him. Your voice cracked, "my sisters. My home."
Hypnos used both hands to hold your face as he bent down to look at you. "I know. I shouldn't have kept it from you. I would have thought your family would have told you."
You took a deep breath, "I-i thought you were a friend. I thought you were in the same boat as me. I thought maybe you were helpful in a battle or something and my mother saw a chance for some dumb political move and that Nyx was in on it."
You glared up at him, "I didn't know you traded for me, like -like I was some dumb cattle!" You stepped away from the side, back facing Hypnos; trying to get air into your lungs. You hated the fact the only reason you were able to get away was because Hypnos allowed you.
"First of all, you will not talk about yourself like that." Hypnos' voice went hard but you just scoffed at him, too upset at him.
He got close to you again, tone a little softer "And second, it wasn't like that. I honestly didn't think she would offer her own daughter up. I-"
You whirled around to face him, finger in his face. "You didn't have to take her up on it though!"
He grabbed your wrist and pulled you to him. His face is a mixture of anger and desperation. He wrapped his arm around your waist and held you flushed against him. You raised your hand to his chest to push off but the fire in his eyes stopped you.
"I knew I would never get another chance to have you, Y/N. By blood and darkness,it was my only chance and I took it! I know what the almighty Olympians really think of us. I know I would never get to see you again if I didn't take up on her offer."
Hypnos lean down, almost close enough to kiss. "I would have done anything for you. I still would."
You tighten your hand on his chest, unable to move away, not wanting to move away. "You barely know me, Hypnos. Why? Why me?"
"Because I do know you, in the way that matters. I see how hard you try to please your family, how you get lost in the words of a story."
You shook your head, unable to deal with emotions that were building up in you. But Hypnos just kept talking.
"I know you have a soft spot for everybody, even the outcasts, how smart you are and how you always try to make sure to help anyone who needs it."
"I- Hypnos." You whispered.
He let go of your wrist to wrap his other arm around you. "Y/N, I don't know everything, not yet. But I would like to. Will you let me?" He asked softly, desperately.
You couldn't speak if you wanted to. You cupped his face and pulled his lips to yours in a chaste kiss.
Hypnos tighten his hold on you. Gently, he pressed a little more into the kiss. You gasped against his lips and he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss.
You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and just tried to hold on.
You didn't know how long or short the kiss went on when both you and Hypnos both took a breath. He pressed his forehead against yours, his golden eyes on your eyes.
"I'm still mad at you." You murmured, fingers caressing his cheek. He smiled, "If this is how good you are when mad, I can't wait to kiss you when you're happy."
"Oh, for goodness sake." You rolled your eyes, not able to hide your smile. Hypnos pressed a kiss against your cheek and then another one, slowly working his way to your neck.
You tugged him back up to face you before he could continue because if you didn't, you were to make some very foolish decisions.
"Can I kiss you again?" Hypnos asked, his hand cupped the back of your head and you nodded as you pulled him down for another one.
Suddenly the doors bang open, "Hey Y/N! I got past- oh." Zagreus' voice halted. You hid your face in Hypnos' chest, wishing for a pit to open up and swallow you whole.
"Zagreus, buddy. Ever heard of knocking?" Hypnos snarled, "Let me help, it when you use your head and-"
"You know what, I will come back later. Much later." Zagreus slammed the door shut.
Then opened it again.
"Congratulations you two!"
And slammed close again.
"I'm going to kill him." Hypnos murmured into your hair.
"Be nice, he is your best friend." You murmured into his chest.
"But he gotten used to dying." Hypnos brushed a kiss against your head. You sighed and looked up at him, "I said no, Hypnos. You said anything for me."
"I did." Hydnos agreed easily. He dipped his head down to met you in another kiss.
"Anything for you, Y/N."

Part six, I will be posting next part right this. This a two parter. This is all Hypnos' pov follow by reader. Hope you guys enjoy it.
Thanks for the likes and kind words. 💜
🌙💤💤🌙
*Hypnos' pov*
It was a peculiar experience, to be physically in one place and mentally in another place. But not one he minded, at times he even welcomed it.
Hypnos floated down the dirt road, the sleeping spell he casted was already showing its effect. In one of the many houses, he could hear a baby's cries turned into soft whimpers.
Hypnos hoped the mother may get some rest. He didn't care for most humans but he did have a soft spot for mothers, the good ones at least. He made a note to himself to return to check just in case.
Hypnos passed another house, and paused. He could hear the sounds of music and people chatting. He floated into the house; one perk of his powers, he wouldn't be seen unless he wished it.
Hypnos stood, amused as he watched the humans. He would hold off for now. He will just have to take a little extra from these humans later. He was about to leave when he saw the huge built-in bookcase.
Y/N's face flashed in his mind, and he huffed. He really was pathetic, Hypnos mused. Now he couldn't even get through a night's work without thinking about Y/N.
She had softened up to him though. Y/N had slowly been getting used to her new home, making friends and even talking to him the few minutes he allowed himself to get close to her.
Hypnos grimaced, he still couldn't believe his behavior that night. Y/N could have claimed to be the real goddess of beauty and he would have believed her especially with how the dress hugged her body.
Between her beautiful, concerned face and his own stupid lust, he had made a fool of himself.
He floated out into the dark road with a shake of his head. At least he could finally understand why so many fought over Helen of Troy.
If nothing else-
Hypnos didn't hear his brother's approach but he did feel the poke Thanatos's scythe gave him.
"Sleeping again?" Thanatos snapped. "Do you know how much work you have overdue?"
Hypnos groaned loudly, aggravated at his brother and pulled his eye mask up to glare at Thanatos.
He loved his twin, really he did. He knew cared more about their relationship than Thanatos did but he wouldn't let his brother just boss him around.
At times, he almost missed it when Thanatos didn't talk to him at all and acted like they weren't even brothers. What does it say about him that he would want his brother's anger over the silence? At least they were talking again, kind of.
"What's wrong? Zagreus said hi to Meg but not you? Or was it that he doesn't notice the cow eyes you make at him?" Hypnos mocked. He smiled at the even darker glare Thanatos gave him.
"Oh have you gotten around to killing all the humans by the way? Or are you still taking your sweet time with that? It's almost like you don't want to hang out, brother." Hypnos said with a fake pout. He knew Thanatos hated that look.
Thanatos growled. "I swear it's like you can't help but to act like a child, Hypnos, even now when you're married to whatever her name is-"
"Y/N. It's Y/N." Hypnos interrupted, anger rose up sharply inside him at Thanatos's tone. "And leave her out of this. You haven't even bothered to meet her yet."
Thanatos's eyes widened, then narrowed and Hypnos silently swore. Thanatos could always pick out Hypnos' weaknesses better than any one. And he just gave Thanatos another one on a silver platter.
Thanatos opened his mouth to respond but out of nowhere, Nyx appeared. She put her hands gently on their shoulders. Her mouth was tight in disapproval.
"My children. Let's have a word. Now." Nyx said calmly but her eyes revealed her displeasure.
Shit.
🌙💤💤🌙
Thanatos had vanished after the dressing-down their mother gave them.
"Coward." Hypnos mumbled. Nyx didn't even give Thanatos that hard of a time. Hypnos had gotten the worst of it like usual. He ignored the raised eyebrow Nyx gave him.
He rubbed his forehead, feeling the start of a headache.
Hypnos turned to his mom, his face not quite able to hide his exhaustion.
"You know I am doing both this job and the sleep thing at the same time, right? You know the thing I was born to do? It's not like I'm being lazy. I don't need to be the guy listing all the dead shades here. Any shade could do it. For bloody sake, let's just give it to Dusa."
Nyx just sighed, and it made Hypnos feel three inches high.
"You know why I can't do that, my child." Nyx said, a wry smile on her face. "I don't want you getting involved with another war. It's bad enough Thanatos has to be."
"I didn't say-"
Nyx's look shut him up. "You would get involved. You can't help yourself. The Olympians may choose to play with human lives but we're better than that."
Nyx paused, "Have you told Y/N about why she was here?"
Hypnos flinched and Nyx sighed. "No, of course not. My child, you need to tell her. Or I will. You can't have a marriage without totally honesty."
Hypnos jerked his head up, "What does it matter? It won't change anything."
Nyx's mouth tightens, "It does matter. You wanted this goddess as your wife. You even went about it in a way that she never even had a say in it."
"Technically, her mother offered her up." Hypnos said.
"And you took her up on it, that makes you just as guilty."
Hypnos opened his mouth but then closed it. His mother was right and he knew it.
Hera had seen the way Hypnos couldn't tear his eyes off Y/N the few times he had been to Olympus. And that he wouldn't be able to say no. But that was his own fault and Y/N had to pay the price.
Hypnos sighed, "I know. I know. I think I can hear Charon's boat coming in."
Nyx's face softened for a moment, "I know you're not happy, Hypnos but you will be someday. Just give it time. "
Hypnos didn't respond.
🌙💤💤🌙
Hours later, Hypnos was still fuming as he floated down the hallway. The second that he got done with the line of shades, he bailed.
He was just going to his chambers so he could get caught up on the work that was actually important. It was not like the dead were going to get any deader.
But as he passed the library, he stopped. He was tempted to go in, just to see her smile at him.
Hypnos didn't want Y/N to see his anger, he was trying to be a pleasant guy for her. To make this place bearable for her since he knew she didn't ask for any of this. She was stuck here because of Hypnos's youthful arrogance and greed.
He didn't want a repeat of that one night. And Hypnos didn't have in him right now to be thoughtful and polite.
Hypnos stared at the candle lights, and hated himself.
He was a selfish god at his core, always had been. He wanted Y/N. Whatever he could have even if just a smile.
With that, he pushed open the door.

Part five of marriage AU. Sorry for being gone for so long, I'm moving rn and my dog had to go the vet so I been busy. Hope you enjoy. Part six should out later this week.. net part will have more hypnos x reader.
🌙💤💤🌙
Time passed much quickly here. Almost too fast. Weeks had passed into a full month before You knew it.
Dusa came every other day to dust and You looked forward to your chats.
The library was coming together nicely. Even though You did have to read every scroll since no one, not even Nyx knew what they held.
Nyx had been surprised by how much there was. You thought you even saw the faintest of blush on her cheeks.
"I knew I had a big collection but I didn't realize how many I've picked over the years." Nyx murmured. "I was so busy raising several children along with Zagreus once he came later with Hypnos and his brother."
You also found out that Hypnos had way more siblings, way way more than you had sisters. But you haven't quite gotten the story about why he talked only about two of his brothers.
You peeked over the scroll you were reading in hopes that maybe somehow it had gotten smaller.
The pile still loomed threatenly the corner.
You tsk when you saw it was still the same as before.
Slowly, the gods and shades of the underworld were becoming friends of sorts.
Zagreus, much like Hypnos, had also become a regular to your library. Often with questions about your former home and any advice you may have.
You knew you weren't getting the full story of why he really wanted out but all in due time.
Charon, a god that Hermes often talked about, was nerve wracking to meet at first but he warmed up quickly to You when sharing stories of Hermes.
Nyx, even as your mother in law, had become someone who You looked forward to having the chats with. The both of you talked over the scrolls and you quite enjoyed the stories of her youth, the rare times she talked about it.
And there was Dusa, Achilles (even after that embarrassing day), even Cerberus would give you a small single wag in greeting.
And so many others. They felt more… honest. Your old home had rules and politics that you were never able to quite grasp.
You never felt right at home, with a different father than all of your sisters and a different power from all of them.
But they loved you and you loved them in return.
Homesick as you were, You were embarrassed to admit there was someone else on your mind.
Hypnos.
You haven't seen Hypnos since that night he slept in your bed. Not really anyway.
He came once a day for a few minutes, made a quick comment on the library or at Zagreus if the prince was going through the scrolls when he came in. But that's it. You felt almost like a pet that Hypnos just made sure was still alive before taking off to wherever.
You blinked at the scroll as you realized that you didn't read a single word. Your mind had drifted away from the scrolls and back to Hypnos.
Again.
🌙💤💤🌙
"Do you have anything on a thing called a Bone Hydra?" Zagreus had asked one day out of the blue, his desperation was clear in his voice.
You put down your tasks list to look at him. "I know what a hydra is but what do you mean by a bone hydra?"
Zagreus slumped, "It is this horrible thing that-"
"Didn't I already tell you what you needed to do?" Hypnos interrupted. "Just don't get hit or die!" He floated to the pile and plucked some scrolls from the top.
Zagreus sighed, "I know, I know. Don't die. It doesn't help as much as you think, Hypnos."
Hypnos dropped the scrolls on the table for you. Slowly but surely the piles had been going down. However, it was helpful to have someone who can easily get to the top.
"Maybe the issue is that you're not moving fast enough." Hypnos said.
"Yes, I am sure that is exactly why, Hypnos. Thank you, all my problems are now solved." Zagreus rolled his eyes.
"Fantastic! Glad to be of service!" Hypnos laughed.
You had to cover a smile before you looked back at Zagreus.
"Zagreus, if I find anything on this bone hydra you will be the first to know." You said.
"Y/N, you're being too kind to Zagreus. Like I said, just move faster."
You laughed at Zagreus' eye roll.
"So this is where you been hiding boy." Hades stepped in the room despite being almost too tall to do.
The energy in the room changed in a way you never felt before. The sheer anger that came from both father and son made the room feel so small.
All three of you stood but it was Hypnos who moved toward you. He blocked you from Hades' sight, his smile never leaving his face. But there was a tightness to his smile. You peeked around him, eyes focused on Zagreus and his father.
Zagreus scoffed, "Oh good Father you were able find the library, would you like some help reading or -"
"Watch your mouth, boy." Hades growled. Then he turned to look directly at you and Hypnos.
You tighten your hands, hoping your nervousness won't show.
"Y/N. Correct?" Hades asked but not in a way that was a question.
You pushed past Hypnos and You ignored his look, you did tell him you couldn't hide from Hades forever.
"Yes. It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Hades."
For a moment, no one said anything.
Then finally Hades spoke, "I heard from Nix about your work on the library."
"Yes, I have some experience with libraries and thank you for the opportunity." You replied, grateful that your voice stayed calm.
"Hmm." Hades looked around the library and You wanted to hide behind Hypnos but resisted the urge.
"Father, what is it that you want?" Zagreus sighed, "Can't you tell you are making everyone uncomfortable?"
Hades' eyes snapped back to Zagreus, "Silent! Your rudeness is what makes people uncomfortable."
Without taking his eyes off his son, Hades said to You. "Y/N, you may continue your work."
"Yes sir, t-thank you." You said, your heart racing, still not convinced father and son will start fighting in the library.
You felt Hypnos' hand on your back, warm and steady, and you let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding in.
"Well!" Hypnos said cheerfully, "Y/N needs to get back to work and I know I certainly do."
Hades sighed, "Yes You do. In fact, Hypnos. I need to have a word with you. Alone."
Without waiting for Hypnos' agreement, Hades turned and walked off.
"I'm sorry about my Father." Zagreus' hands in
"No. It's fine. Went as well as it could have." You said, glad the whole event was over.
Zagreus murmured his excuses and quickly left the library.
A moment passed and you turned your head to look up at Hypnos, his hand still on your back.
"Thank you." You whispered, a blush on your cheeks.
"Oh, sure. Hades takes some getting used to." Hypnos grinned. "I've to go see what Hades wants from me."
"Are you okay with being alone with...him?" You asked. You would happily never share a room with Hades ever again, let alone a one on one meeting.
His hand moved away and you found yourself already missing the warmth.
"Of course, he loves my charming wit." Hypnos waved a hand in farewell.
You laughed and watched Hypnos floated off.
With a sigh, you fell into your chair. Not even the underworld gods were spared of politics and drama.
🌙💤💤🌙
"So- so could I ask you a question?" Dusa asked, her duster moved in quick, neat movements.
You pulled your eyes away from the new take list you made. Since the library was getting closer and closer to being done, you had thought about opening it up but there was still much to do. Also you weren't sure of the best to keep track of who borrowed what. And you still needed to ask Nix but you pushed the thoughts out.
"Of course, Dusa. Is there a scroll you're looking for?"
"Well, no. I wanted to ask… how did you and Hypnos meet? I wasn't aware he was seeing anyone let alone getting married." Dusa bit her lip, "But don't feel like you have to talk about it if you don't want to! I know it is not any of my business."
"No. No, it's fine. I didn't meet him until our wedding or at least I think so." You put down your quill. You couldn't help but feel like you met him before that but for the life of you, you couldn't remember. "It was an arranged marriage. I… I've been told he did a favor for my mother during a war, one she would have lost if not for him."
Dusa bobbed next to you, "I'm sorry. I don't know why people or gods act like their daughters are things to trade. It's like they don't even see their daughters as full people."
You blinked, surprised at Dusa's tone. But you smiled, liking the more fiery side of your friend.
"I don't know either. But at least he is kind to me. And he hasn't been pushy if you know what I mean or anything like that. It could have been worse."
"That's good!" Dusa sighed, "Hypnos and I don't exactly get along really but I'm glad to know he has been kind to you."
"You don't? Is there a reason?" You cupped your face in your hands, elbows eyes on Dusa.
Hypnos didn't talk about other people in the house, other than his mother and brother. You wanted to know more but couldn't get him to crack in the few minutes you saw him every day.
"Well I mean." Dusa paused as if trying to find the words. "He isn't mean but you can tell he doesn't care about his work. And he doesn't seem to understand why anyone else cares. He… I don't know. I'm making it sound worse than it is. I'm sorry, Y/N."
She bobbed again nervously. "He is a good guy! He and I just don't click at all."
You smiled even as a knot formed in your chest. Is that what Hades wanted with Hypnos a few weeks ago? Again you cursed yourself for not being able to get Hypnosis to talk to you.
"It's okay, Dusa. It is not a big deal."
After a few more minutes of chitchat, Dusa left, her duster still working madly.
You sat down and stared down at your list. The words might as well be scribbles for all of the sense it made to you.
With a sigh, you pushed away the papers. Why in the world do you care that Hypnos wouldn't talk to you? Or that you still didn't understand a bloody thing about the god.
Why do you care at all?

Hypnos x reader headcanons
He literally the best cuddler despise not looking like it.
He is also touch starved and will take any chance to touch you, even as he floats past you.
You get used to being touch all of the time, with gental fingers on your cheek to having your hair play with to having his hand on your back.
A thing that most don't realize is how protective he is. He isn't controlling about it and will back off if you tell him to but he will always lead you away from danger if he can.
Like if there a something dangerous that can be handle before you even know about it, he just handle it and not tell you.
This had been the reasons for several of your arguments.
Also he won't really stand up for himself but goodness help anyone who even say the wrong thing to you.
You only saw him truly, deeply angry once or twice in the whole time you knew him and even though it wasn't at you, you still would be more than happy to never see it again.
When sleeping in bed together, he will use you a teddy bear. Even summer time.
He will steal your fries or candy without any shame.
You love it when he let you wear it his coat. You love to bury your face in it and you always have the best nap with it.
He smelled like lavender and incense.
On quite nights, you both would hide out in a makeshift tent/pillow fort in the bedroom. Whispering and laughing and kissing.

Tangled starlights
(working title)
Also hc that Hypnos is also working when he sleeping, he does his job as God of sleep. He can also do a normal sleep so he can get rest. But he doesn't get nearly as much he needs.
Part four of marriage AU
No beta.
🌙💤💤🌙
You stood in the dusty room as Hypnos floated around, lighting the candles on the walls.
You didn't think you would return to this room. Not after what happened a few days ago. Your stomach twisted in anxiety. You weren't upset exactly but you didn't expect such a strong response.
"And no one has kept up with the library?" You asked. You didn't want to think about *it* right now.
You walked along the shelfs, the scrolls seemed to be calling for you.
"Mother made this place before Hades took over the house for her and he didn't deem any of this stuff important." He replied, and pointed to a door at the far end of the room.
Hypnos waved a hand around. "There are more in that room also. When she was younger, she used to collect as many stories and knowledge as she could. But she never took the time to actually organize it."
Hypnos lit the last candle and floated down to stand. He kept some distance between You and him. Only his bright eyes followed you around the room as you wondered.
"If you don't want to, it's totally fine. This is a lot-"
"N-no. I want to!" You shook your head. "I helped Athens with her library the few times she needed to update it."
You stopped and turned with a smile. "Also I like a good story and I don't doubt that your mother has some great ones in here."
Hypnos returned your smile and you tried not to think about how close he was last night.
"Great! I'll get Dusa to help you clean up the dust in here."  He glanced around the room, "And maybe some chairs and tables."
"Yes. Might be helpful." You teased him. And felt a little warm at his laugh.
🌙💤💤🌙
Several hours in and you were bone tired and dusty.
So.Very.Dusty.
"Hey Dusa! How is it looking up there?" You called out.  Dusa quickly floated to You. Her green, shiny skin was now dark gray with dust but that didn't stop the beaming smile.
You smiled back, already so fond of Dusa. It felt like You had spent a day with one of your sisters.
"I think we got all the dust! I'm just sorry we had to remove all the scrolls out of their place."  She glanced at the piles of scrolls in the corner, carefully stacked together.
You shook your head, "It's okay. I've been told it was already a bit of a mess so no harm done."
"O-oh good!" She bobbed in the air. " I think-"
"Oh wow, I didn't realize we had so many scrolls."  An male voice drifted through the door.
You and Dusa both turned toward the door, surprised at the visitor.
Zagreus stood, hands on hips as he looked at the pile that loomed over him.
"O-oh Prince! Be careful!" Dusa rushed over to him. You followed, of course he will show up when you and Dusa were both a mess.
"Don't worry, I won't touch it." Zagreus smiled at You. " Sorry for coming at a bad time. I heard from Mother Nyx that Hypnos' wife was taking over the library. And I realized I haven't induced myself yet. I'm Zagreus.
"My name is Y/N and I would shake your hand but…" You held up your hands, covered in dust and grime.
"Of course. If you ever need anything, just let me know." Zagreus' mismatched eyes studied your face as he said it.
"Thank you, Prince Zagreus. Dusa has been an amazing help already."  You tilted your head to Dusa who blushed.
"O-oh it is not a problem! I'm happy to help!" Dusa murmured.
"Dusa is amazing isn't she? Our hardest worker for sure." Zagreus praised, he sounded so proud of her.
"Oh oh my, excuse me! I- I need to get cleaned up." Dusa rushed out, her blush visible even with the dust
"Oh dear." Zagreus said. "We might have been a bit much. But it is good that she hears it. Goodness knows Father doesn't understand how hard she works for this house."
You weren't quite sure what to say. You didn't want to take sides yet or ever if it can be avoided. You have seen too many times what happens when two gods get into a fight with each other.
"You'll have to forgive me but Dusa is right. A hot bath sounds like a dream right now." You smiled at him, glad for the excuse.
"Of course! I will leave you to it, Y/N!" Zagreus nodded and waved goodbye as he left.
You sighed. Hopefully this room will be worth the trouble.
🌙💤💤🌙
You couldn't remember the last time you felt so relaxed. There was nothing like a hot bath, you mused.
You tore off a part of the warm bread and popped it into your mouth. You eyed the pomegranate but went for the olive. Save the best for last you thought.
You laid on top of the covers, feeling like the most spoiled being alive. You went for another olive.

What a day.  But at least you were moving forward and now there was a job for you to do.
inevitably, you thought about Hypnos. He was still at work, you last heard. You knew he slept on the job but that wasn't a rest. Not really.
You thought about what he said before. How being more powerful than your sisters. No one ever said that, why would they? It is clear what the gods liked.
Hermes may have the only exception (at least until Hypnos) that enjoyed her powers but even then he never said what Hypnos did.
Hermes had always pushed a little more, made her try harder to be a little more quick and clever. Your older brother in everything but blood. Hermes had been one of the few people You missed other than your sisters.
He did travel to the underworld sometimes. Maybe you could see him again. Give him letters for your sisters.
Your eyes drifted closed, the dark red
canopy were the last thing you saw before sleep overtook You.
🌙💤💤🌙
There were sounds outside your door. You blinked at the candles by your bedside. They were much lower than before you went to sleep. The only sign that any time had passed at all.
You frowned at your door. It sounded like an argument. You stood and quietly walked to the door. You pressed your ear against it.
But the bloody thing was so thick, you weren't sure what was being said.
But you weren't going to just stand there especially after being woken up so rudely. You looked around your chambers for a weapon. Just in case.
You frowned when you realized there was nothing. You would just have to be ready to slam the doors.
With a deep breath, you pushed your bedchambers open.
The two men outside went quiet. Hypnos and another man You didn't know stood before you.
"Great, just great. Now look at what you did." Hypnos snapped at the other man.
"Me?" The man snapped back. He was about the same height as Hypnos but unlike Hypnos he wore only dark colors. His scythe loomed over all three as it gleamed even the candlelight.
"Yes you!" Hypnos grumbled. He turned to You, his normal smile gone. And you couldn't help but notice how much deeper the black circles have gotten.
"Y/N, I'm sorry. You will have to forgive us for our lack of manners. You can go back to sleep now." Hypnos turned back to the man. "Brother, I think our 'little talk' is done for now. You should be getting back to work right?" Hypnos' tone was sharp.
You didn't realize he could sound like that. Also brother?
The man frowned, and looked at You then at Hypnos.
"Fine, but you have a duty to the house. You need to grow up at some point."
Then he turned on his foot and walked away.
Once he was out of sight, Hypnos sighed as he looked at you. He was floating, the candles highlighted his face.
"I didn't know you had a brother." You stepped out of your bedchambers. You were only in a draped linen gown, a little inappropriate but you were too curious not to know.
"Two brothers, Thanatos and Charon. You just 'met' my twin, Thanatos." Hypnos said.
You could hear the exhaustion in his voice and your heart twisted. You will ask more about his brothers later.
"Have you gotten any sleep?" You felt silly asking the god of sleep if he got any rest.  But those dark circles were all the proof you needed.
"Sure, I fall asleep on all time especially on the job!" Hypnos' smiled meanly, his hands spread out in a mock shrug.
"I mean real sleep." You crossed your arms. "Surely, the naps you take aren't enough."
Almost out of nowhere, a thought came.
"Wait, what exactly are you doing when you napping?" You asked.
Hypnos raised an eyebrow and silent took over.
"Does it matter?" He finally responded.
"It matters. At least to me." You didn't know what to make of this whole argument. There was something you were missing but you don't know what.
Hypnos was silent as he stopped floating. He walked closer, his light golden eyes not leaving your own eyes. You resisted stepping back, staying in place with your arms crossed. You cursed how warm you felt when Hypnos stopped in front of you.
"My brother is the God of Death. He gets those last few minutes of a human's life. Unbelievably terrifying for those poor humans I imagine." Hypnos leaned forward, his hand pressed against the wall, next to your waist.
You could feel a blush crawl up your neck and cheeks. "And what do you get?" You asked, hating the small tremble in your voice.
"One third. Sometimes more than that. Slowly over the years. When I sleep, I can go to humans and give them sleep or take away any sleep they want."

Hypnos' eyes were beautiful and you felt so exposed.
"So you haven't been getting much real sleep at all." You said, tearing your eyes away. On impulse, you reached up to touch the obol. You heard his breath hitched.
You had to put a stop to this. Or you would do something very foolish.
"Right then come along." You grabbed his wrist and pulled him into your bedchamber.
"Ah…" Hypnos sounded unsure.
"You need some sleep. I can't trust that you will if I leave you alone in your bedroom." Your blush was getting worse.  "Also I doubt I will be able to get any more sleep. So I'm just going to keep an eye on you while I finish up some letters."
You cleared off the bed and gestured towards your bed.
Hypnos just stood there. "You don't-"
You waved his words away. "No one will bother you in here, so just try to get a nap in."
You sat down at your desk, feeling very foolish. You grabbed a blank paper and started writing down tasks for the library.
You heard Hypnos moved around and settled in your bed. You thought you heard him murmured something but didn't turned around to look.

Eventually you heard his soft breathing. This time you did look. He didn't get under the cover but did take one of the pillows and was on the opposite side you slept on.
If anyone asked why you allowed this, you just say you were helping your husband as a wife should.
Nothing more, nothing less.
You nodded, and tried not to think how your heart fluttered earlier.
🌙💤💤🌙
Your eyes blinked open. Frowning in confusion, you looked down at your papers.  A blanket slipped off your shoulders and pooled around your feet.
Last night ( or day) memories flooded back. You had fell asleep at your desk.
You turned to look at your bed but Hypnos was gone. You didn't like how disappointed you felt. No need for that for that, you scolded yourself. You grapped the blanket to return it.

Only when you got closer, did you see what Hypnos left behind.
On the bed, a bottle of nectar and a note was tucked under the bottle.
'Thanks.' No name or anything, not that You needed one.

There was however a picture of an smiling face next to it.
"Oh Hypnos." You laughed.
Oh...
Oh dear what have You gotten yourself into to?

Hey part three! Um. So this all Hypnos' pov. Hope that okay. I will be mainly be switching between both Hypnos and the reader.
No beta.
🌙💤💤🌙
*Hypnos' pov*
It was hours later when Hypnos made his great escape. It would be few more hours before Charon will pass again with the dead.
He floated toward the bedchambers with a yawn. He had tried to find something Y/N could do, only to realize that he had no clue what Y/N did before she had came here.
Hypnos was ashamed to admit that once he gave her the tour, he thought she would just be happy with that.
He didn't know what to do with a wife especially with one who didn't quite fit in.
His mother's words still echoed his head. "You're her husband now." She sighed at him and he could just feel her disappointment in him grow. "You have a duty to her and one of those are to make Y/N feel at home."
Hypnos ran his hand though his curls and groaned. Just another failure to add on the list of his many failures. It was hard to be in the shadow of his twin, even Hades seem impressed by Thanatos.
And Hypnos knew that Thanatos outshine him in everything, he just wished their mother didn't make it seem so obvious.
A flicking light made him paused, wasn't that door normally closed?
It wasn't the bedchambers but it was close enough to give him concern. He really didn't like the idea of a stranger being so close to him or Y/N for that matter.
He readied a spell, his fingers twitched at the rush of power.
Quietly, he floated toward the door and looked inside.
The room was huge and lined with shelves and packed tightly with scrolls.
But those weren't what caught his eyes, it was the two lit candles on the floor that Y/N was sitting by. Y/N was bent over and quickly reading an scroll, the ribbon between her fingers.
Hypnos stared, almost unwillingly.
In the warm candlelight, she looked like a dream. Soft and not quite real. Her bun had sipped a little and loose stands of hair framed Y/N's face.
Hypnos knew Olympians were beautiful. He knew of the songs and stories. He even seen some of them a few times but to him, Y/N was something else.
He made a fist and canceled the spell.
Y/N looked upward when he came in the room. She gave him a nervous smile as she put down the scroll.
"I-" They both went to speak first, paused and Hypnos nodded toward her.
"I own you an apology." Y/N said, not quite looking at him.
Her fingers played with the ribbon. "I wasn't upset at you. I... Think I was feeling a little homesick and to be honest, I don't like the idea of not being helpful. It's a fault of mine."
She looked up, eyes on his. "So I'm sorry, Hypnos."
He felt a warmth in his chest when her eyes met his. And just as quickly, he squashed the feeling down.
"No, Its fine really. If anything, I own you one. I mean I shouldn't had thought you would be happy with nothing to do. Just because I can sleep the days away, doesn't mean everyone can." Hypnos said, hoping the knock at himself would help lightened the mood.
Y/N patted the spot on the floor next to her and feeling like a fool, Hypnos joined.
"Do you know what this room is?" Y/N asked.
"Oh this place? I think this is where we keep some of the epics or songs that been written down." Hypnos glaced at the scroll, "I'm not sure since I don't really go in here."
He looked at Y/N, "I don't think anyone has been here for quite some time."
"No, I agree. Look at the dust!" Y/N said with a little bit of a laugh.
He chuckled along, cursing himself for the flush of pleasure at Y/N's laugh.
"Hey, I have a question for you." He said. At her nod, he continued "What did you do before all this? Do you even have jobs or anything like that?"
"Oh. Yes, we are attendants or helpers of sorts. Most of my sisters work with Aphrodite or Dionysus. They been blessed with love, joy or goodwill. Because of this they give humans these gifts as well."
Y/N gave him a nervous look, her fingers played with ribbon again.
"I..well maybe it would be just easier to show you."
She dropped the ribbon and spread her hand over it.
For a second, nothing happened.
Then like a flower, a small fire bloomed from the ground.
"W-Whoa!" Hypnos yanked Y/N's hand away from the fire without even a thought. He quickly tried to use his own to kill the fire.
"Wait, this isn't hot." Hypnos murmured. He left his hand the still moving fire. "But its look so real."
"Hallucinations. That is what I've been blessed with, if one can call it that." Y/N sighed.
Using her hand again, she stopped the illusion.
All was left was a single red ribbon.
"That is amazing." Hypnos grinned. Until he saw the look on Y/N's face.
"Not much use though, mainly the gods would use it for tricking humans. I've mainly worked with Hermes or Dionysus but I helped all of the gods at some time or another." Y/N shook her head.
"So I did a little bit of everything. My sisters were more useful so I just tried to fill in the gaps."
Silent took over the room. Hypnos tried to think of what to say. This was just more proof of the foolishness of the Olympians. Of her family.
"Your powers seem way more more useful than anything your sisters have." Hypnos said bluntly.
He tried not to wince at the frown she gave him.
"Humans lives are ruled by what they understand. It doesn't how long they lived or how they died." Hypnos lean toward Y/N, willing her beautiful eyes to meet his own. "They only know what they can see and touch. The fact you could so easily take that away from them... Even gods can be fooled just like humans because of this power you have. You're stronger than what your family realize or even yourself."
Y/N looked stunned at his words. Looking away from him, her fingers took the ribbon off the ground.
"I..." She bit her lip.
"I'm sorry." Hypnos said quietly but not moving away. "I overstepped my bounds. I mean no insult to you or your family."
"None taken." Y/N said quickly. "I think I would like to retire for the night. Or day. If that okay with you, Hypnos."
"Of course." Hypnos floated upward and offered his hand to Y/N who after a moment accepted.
They made their way to the bedchambers in silent. Not looking nor touching each other.
Hypnos wondered if he should even say anything else after his mistake. They stopped in front of their bedchamber.
Y/N looked up at him. "I enjoyed our talk. And... Thank you for the kind words even if they were a bit blunt."
She stepped into her chamber.
"Good night, Hypnos."
"Good night, Y/N."

Part two! Bit of a slow burn fyi. Not much happens but I got part 3 in the works. Also thank you so much for the kinds words and likes. ❤️❤️
No beta.
🌙💤💤🌙
Unlike your home with endless feasts and late night parties, the house of Hades seemed to be always working. And that included your husband, Hypnos.
Mere days had already passed, and you still felt at lost.
It helps that your husband seem just as lost in the rare down time he visit you.
You got the tour when everyone else had gone to bed. It must have been the second or third day, it was so easy to lose time in a place like this. No sunrise or sunsets, you thought sadly.
Hypnos' tired face lingered in your mind. He still smiled when he saw you even after what must had been a long work day.
He behaved as a gentleman. You had been warned by your sisters how men normally behaved but thankfully Hypnos haven't done anything. He told stories as he guilded you along long hallways with no windows and few pictures.
You didn't even met another soul during the tour.
As if the house only exist for pure function.
You paced around your bedchamber in your nightgown, surely there must be some type of job you can do. They can't think you will want to hide out your bedroom for all of eternity.
Right?
Mind made up, you changed quickly. Nix, your mother in law, had given you some new dresses as a wedding gifts. Another thing you will have to do was to find way to thank her, you thought as you pulled out the pure black one.
After a moment, you also took the belt with a little skull on it.
You bit your bottom lip as you tried to decide if you wanted to put your hair up. You quickly put in a bun, just to see how it felt. You smiled when you felt a little of bit of your old self.
You got this, you thought. It will be fine.
🌙💤💤🌙
It was the yelling that made you stop in your steps, two loud male voices echoed as you stepped into the main house.
A blonde shade guarded the pathway. His face twisted into a grimace even as he stood tall and proud. He looked toward you, his eyes sharp and clear.
"You're Hypnos' wife, correct?"
"Y/N and you are?" You asked.
"Achilles." He smiled but there was a sadness to it.
"I would suggest maybe waiting if you wished to speak to your husband. The Master and his son are having... An disagreement."
The yelling had only grown louder.
You sighed, "You don't say. Thank you but I don't think I can wait."
It might be foolish but you always waited, try not to step on any toes and look what it got you.
You matched past and you firmly paid no heed his head shake.
But...
You peeked, you wasn't totally a fool yet.
The first thing You saw Cerberus. Even in your old home, you knew of the infamous beast. You just didn't realize how big he was. You felt your heart stopped for a second when one of his heads tiled toward You with a sniff before turning away, clearly not condering You a threat.
Thanks goodness.
A young man stood before Hades' desk, gesturing angrily.
Zagreus, You think, Hypnos said Hades had a son. This must be him.
Hades, behind his desk glared impassionatly.
"This is why no one in the house feels safe to speak up!" Zagreus pointed at his Father.
"Mustn't upset you even when you tricked people into your deals!" Zagreus laughed, "You act like-"
"Tricked?! I did no such thing boy!" Hades roared as he slammed his fist down.
You couldn't help but stared. Was this normal for the House? You didn't even see when Hypnos noticed you.
You jumped when his hands touched your shoulders. You met his golden eyes, bright even with the dark circles that lined them.
Quietly and quickly, he guilded you away from the room. " What are you doing?" He whispered. "Right now is not a good time."
You turned to face him with a frown. "I haven't done anything in days. Surely this must be something I can do. I am just wasting away in the room. Let me help, you all seem so busy."
Hypnos stopped floating and stood. You keep forgetting that he was taller than he seemed. You didn't have to cane your neck but it still a surprise each time.
"And it is rude that I haven't met the Master of the house or help since I'm not really a guest." You continued, trying not to noticed how warm Hypnos' hands were on your shoulders.
"We- I wanted you have more time to get use to this place." Hypnos shook his head. "If you really need something to do, we can talk later. Right now the last thing Hades need to see is you. He is still not pleased that Mom- Mother, "he corrected, "Did this on top of everything else."
You felt a mix disappointment and relief when Hypnos removed his hands. 'No just relief.' You thought to yourself. 'Just relief.'
"Let me find out what you can do and I'll stop by later." Hypnos rubbed his cheek with a sigh. He started floating again.
"Do you want me walk you back?" He asked.
"No. No Thank you. I will be fine." You couldn't keep the frustration out of your voice.
You turned and realized that Achilles was still in the same room with you. He looked a little amused.
You felt your cheeks flushes from embarrassment as you marched away.
