First Chapter

Viggo grimborn x male reader

Srry that it’s not centred around reader so much, it will be more abt them in the future.

Also srry if pacing is weird, I’m on some medication that makes me a bit groggy, and I haven’t written in years so I’m hoping to start writing more.

“Meal time, maggots!”

The guard says as he picks up a bucket full of bread.

The prisoners started to yell over each others voices, trying to make sure the guard threw them some food. It was moldy and probably not great to eat, but after a while of laying on the floor and eating food that makes you throw up, you get used to it.

“I have been meaning to tell you something for the last three years. Your voice. Is really. Annoying!”

Dagur says as he pulls the prisoner’s hand towards him, effectively knocking his head against the bars ending with him knocked out on the ground.

Dagur looked at the key that was hidden under the cloth the guard had tossed him, laughing like a maniac. After three whole years stuck in a small cell and eating food that made him sick, he would finally get his revenge.

He managed to take out three guards, and steal their weapons, before someone noticed he was out.

“He’s escaped! Dagur’s got out!” A guard yells, much to his annoyance.

Dagur quick took him out but the damage was done as 5 guards hurried towards him.

His annoyed mood didn’t stay long, excitement swiftly boiling to the surface at the thought of a challenge.

The prisoners cheered him on as he fought the guards, eventually making his way towards the one standing by the door, the only one left.

“No, Dagur it’s me, I gave you the key” the guard said cowering out of fear.

“Which makes you a traitor- Dagur drops his weapons to the ground-I hate traitors” he says, punching the guard in the face.

Dagur steps outside for the first time in years, It’s a late early summer night and the cold just barely nips at his skin.

“It’s a new day Hiccup, hope you are well rested” Dagur says to himself while looking down at the docks.

Hiccup is flying fast trought the sky on toothless, the cold wind hitting his face. They are moving fast upwards to the sky when suddenly, “hey! Toothless!” Hiccup yells out as he starts plummeting down towards the ground.

Toothless turned around and is flying next to Hiccup, both quickly approaching the ocean, which from their height will feel like solid rock if they land in it. “You want to do something, or are we just going to fall?” Hiccup asked looking towards his dragon, Toothless quickly flew past him and was able to get Hiccup back on top of him, saving them from an early demise.

Back on Berk some of the dragon riders had really found their calling, Snoutloud had started working in the forge for Gobber, even given the title of official weapon tester.

The twins had, to no one’s surprise, given their life to Loki god of pranks. After this decision they had begun to terrorize the village but had their eyes mainly on Snoutloud.

Fishlegs had really found his calling, teaching the children about dragons and their history. The only people who had not completely settled in life on Berk was Hiccup, you and Astrid, and Hiccup could tell Astrid was starting to get more hesitant to join his adventures.

Everyone seemed so happy and content with life on Berk, and Hiccup just didn’t know where he fit in here. He knew he would eventually take over as chief, he had been raised for that exact purpose, but it just didn’t feel right.

“Hiccup, what are you doing home so early?”

“Oh, I just…….. Wanted to spend some time with my dear old dad. Yeah, you know we never get to talk anymore, so…..”

“All right what is it?”

“What do you mean ‘what is it?’, can’t a son just spend some time with his dad?”

“Not this one, not usually, at least. So let’s hear it”

Hiccup barely get a few words out before the twins barged in with a disoriented Johann being held up by them.

“What happened?” Soick asked, but it honestly sounded more like a demand.

“Dagur.- Johann looked up towards the Viking chief- he is out and more deranged than ever”

“And from the way he was talking it seemed like you were first on his revenge list. Hiccup”

When Johann had gotten over his shock Hiccup called the riders to the arena to explain what had happened.

“And he threw Johann overboard about here” Hiccup explained to the other riders.

“So what you are saying is that Dagur can be pretty much anywhere” Snoutloud spoke up.

“Have a strong suspicion off where our nefarious foe is heading” Johann interrupted before Snoutloud could begin to complain.

“Inside the fog bank on our outer group of islands, when Dagur commandeered my precious ship he also came into possession of a very important map, one that leads to a graveyard of ships. hidden in that fog bank-“.

“Wow! That’s the first place I’d go” Snoutloud interrupted voice dripping with sarcasm.

“If I’d be allowed to finish-“.

“Last time we let you finish er ended up on Breakneck Bog, so no you may not”.

“Enough!” Hiccup said looking at Johann to continue.

“The short version, please” hiccup added before Johann could begin one of his unbearably long stories.

“It’s where I store all my treasures and wares”.

You and the other riders left to go and try to stop Dagur and get him back where he belongs.

Johann had also warned you about one particular ship to avoid at all cost.

The ship graveyard was completely quiet save for the ships rocking back and forth in the ocean. You had a bad feeling about this place, and it seemed the dragons agreed if their jumpiness was anything to go by.

“No sign of Dagur” Hiccup said after everyone had landed.

“We beat him to it, so I guess we wait” Astrid said scanning the ocean around her.

“For how long this place really gives Meatlug the willies” Fishlegs says, looking just as scared as his dragon.

“He has a point we can’t just wait here forever” you said

“Well we can’t just leave Johann’s treasure here either, Dagur will steal them” Hiccup argued

“And use the profits to buy a new armada” Astrid finishes.

“Not if we steal them first” Ruffnut suggests.

“That is the dumbest idea I have ever heard, I hear by disown you!” Tuffnut says, Ruffnut gives him a nasty side glance in response.

“Actually, you know what? I sort of like it”

“Welcome back to the family. Sister!” Tuff quickly back track, giving his sister a hug.

“We will split up, find Johann’s treasure and take it back to Berk. But keep your eyes open for Dagur, he might turn up any minute” Hiccup tells everyone.

Right when he was done talking, a heard of giant eel surrounded the ship, the dragons immediately got spooked and flew away.

Hiccup jumped on Toothless and was able to fly off the ship before the eels started pulling it down towards the dark depths of the cold northern sea. You and the others grabbed onto the ship to keep yourself from falling into the icy waters, but Astrid wasn’t that lucky.

Hiccup dove into the water after her, luckily being able to scare away the eels and save her.

The eel let go of the ship making you and the other being able to stand properly on it again.

“Anyone thin that Johann could have warned us about, I don’t know, THE GIANT FUCKING EELS!”

Snoutloud yelled in frustration, obviously shaken up by the ordeal.

“Let’s just find our dragons and get home” he continued.

“The plan hasn’t changed, go and look for Johanns treasure on the different ships. Quietly. The dragons will be back. And keep your guard up, Dagur might be here any minute now”. Hiccup said as soon as he had made sure Astrid was fine.

Hiccup looked at the ship in the middle of the graveyard, the reaper.

“Why are you looking at that ship?” Astrid asked worry in her voice.

“Because I am going to check it out” Hiccup replied without spearing her a glance, as if he couldn’t possibly look away from the ship.

Hiccup and Toothless landed on the ship and began to look around, the ship was strange and unlike anything Hiccup has ever seen. Toothless walked towards a cage made of strange metal and started growling.

“Come on bud, It’s just an empty cage” Hiccup said right being startled by a bird enough to scream out loud. Toothless just gave him a smug look.

“Ok now, now It’s an empty cage”.

“Jewels, jewels!” Tuffnut yelled in delight as he saw the chest full of gems in colors he hadn’t even seen before.

“You know what we are going to do? We’re bringing them back for the family. Mom will be so happy. Wait, but how will we carry them all back home?”

Ruffnut opened her mouth with a smile to show off the jewels she had put in her mouth in response.

Tuffnut gasped.

“Great idea sis, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. I can also put diamonds in your mouth” Tuff said as he started stuffing jewelry into his sister’s mouth.

Fishlegs shrieks in delight as his eyes sets on the room he just walked into, full of old books, maps and charts. He’s speed walking from one place to another seemingly not being able to decide where to put his full attention.

“There is no greater treasure than knowledge!”

“I’m going to be rich! Rich, rich, rich, rich!” Snoutloud sings to himself as he’s looking around.

“Well, hello mr. ornate box. What treasure do you hold? Ha ha ha. RICH!”

“Hair! Ew!” He yells in disappointment and disgust

“Who keeps hair in a box? There’s gotta be more.-he keeps digging through the box, trying to find something of value-. More hair? Ech! Man, what a rip off.”

His eyes land on the portrait sitting on top of a box, it’s of two wealthy looking men with long beautiful hair.

“Or is it?”

“Oh, look at me, I’m Ruffnut, or am I Tuffnut? Who can tell?” Snoutloud says holding two braids of hair and making a weird voice, pretending to be the twins.

“I’m, oh actually this is kinda nice”.

You walked under deck on one of the ships, it had strange runes carved on some of the walls it didn’t look like anything in the archipelago. After a little while of looking around you came over the captain’s quarters. You looked trough cabinets and drawers til you eventually found a note book.

It was filled with reports written with the same runes from earlier, but you are able to make some of it out. The report is from what seemed like dragon hunters, it went into detail about the types of dragons they hunted and even had a map of dragon hunter ports. You quickly put it away for later before continuing to look around. But before you could snoop even more you felt a blunt force hit your head and then everything went black.

Hiccup walks under the deck of the Reaper with caution, after almost getting dragged off the ship and nearly losing his foot with a bear trap he wasn’t taking any more chances. The long hallway was filled with cages full of dragon bones, whoever owned it was definitely not fond of the flying reptiles.

He walked up to a door that’s decorated with gold and small jewels, it’s most definitely the captain’s quarters.

“Ok, Toothless I have a plan” before Hiccup could begin to explain Toothless shot down the door with a plasma blast.

“I like yours better”.

Walking inside the first thing to catch Hiccups attention is a skeleton sitting in the captain’s chair, one arm outstretched to hold onto what looks to be an old artifact.

Hiccups throws the arm weakly away, making a disgusted noise while doing so. He can feel the nervousness flowing faintly through his body as he slowly picks up the artifact. His nerves had just enough time to leave his body before an axe got thrown toward him. Taking the artifact of the platform it was placed on must have activated all the traps on the ship, Hiccup turned around running towards the ladder he came down from, Toothless helping him stay away from the arrows being shot at them.

When they managed to get on the deck again Hiccup was, after three years, face to face with Dagur.

“Dagur”.

“Hiccup! How have you been?” Dagur asks sounding completely sincere, as if he didn’t capture you and the other riders.

“Did you miss me, course I sure missed you. Everyday for three years I thought about the day we would meet”. Dagur continued, he started out sound as if he was greeting an old friend but his voice swiftly turned to one of anger.

You could only see his back from your place inside the cage but you were sure he looked completely deranged. They had picked the riders off one by one and when you woke up you and the other was in a cage made of strange metal.

Hiccup and Dagur went a little more back and forth, the conversation is hard to follow with your pounding head.

“Anyway. I’ll take the jewels, his too-a guard punched Ruffnut in the stomach making er spit the jewels out and yell at the guard- ops thought that was the boy, can never tell with those two” Dagur said while the guard got ready to leave.

“And I’ll that what you’re hiding behind your back to” he continued, stretching his arm out for Hiccup to place the object in. The guards raising their weapons to threaten Hiccup to comply.

“You know you’re not going to get very far with that thing, right?” Hiccup said while handing it over.

“Oh boy, here we go. Must we always do the same song and dance. Not that you are not a fantastic dancer, Hiccup” Dagur said making his way towards his own ship.

Toothless started growling, making Dagur turn around, but was quickly shushed by Hiccup, “shh bud, not here”.

“That’s right nightfury, today is not the day, but it’s coming! And soon. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got people to see, an army to build and revenge to plot. So much to do, and so little time.” Dagur began again, now walking back and forth on the deck.

“Isn’t this exciting Hiccup, aren’t you excited. You must have been so bored these last three years” he continued.

“Yeah, you got a point about that. Not enough explosions” this time it was Tuffnut who talked, Ruffnut chuckling in agreement.

“Alas my time here has come to an end. Farewell, for now, brother” was the last thing Dagur said before jumping back on his own ship.

Hiccup ran towards the cage you were being held in trying to open it.

“Forget about us, go after him!” Astrid yells trying to convince him. Hiccup hesitates, not wanting to leave his friends.

“We‘lol be fine! He’ll get away!” You yell, this was all the encouragement Hiccup need to finally follow after Dagur.

Not long after Hiccup left on Toothless before a huge bolder flew towards the ship you we all trapped on, the ship started sinking fast. And it didn’t take long for the giant eels to come back to try and get a fresh meal.

You were able to get a hold off something to stop yourself from sliding right into the cold eel infested ocean, from the sound off it Astrid hadn’t been so lucky.

Right before she hit the water Stormfly swooped in and saved her, you turned your head to see your dragons flying towards you all.

After everyone had gotten up in the sky on their dragons, out of reach from the giant eels. It did take long for Hiccup to catch up, old artifact in hand.
