Nope. It's beneath his genius and way too tiresome. Can anyone in his camp deal with a crying baby? Also nope. Is he gonna risk actually hurting the tiny stupid thing over Berk's wrath and the total impracticality of it all? Nah. So. Like.

Viggo takes one blink at that information and just. Is so badly insulted that he just turns around and leaves. No more worthy opponent. Hiccup, you didn't take the game seriously. Dragons: Race to the edge is a literal pinball machine of villains.

First its Alvin, then he changes for the best, then Dagur who goes through an entire arc, then Viggo dies then doesn't. Then because a monstrous nightmare helped him, he's OK and didn't want to harm another dragon. (Yay arcs) Then Krogan gets revealed, only for Johann to be mastermind pulling the strings. Johann gets turned into a forever icicle.

Then Krogan gets killed by Drago, which sets the events of the second movie.

It's a pinball machine, but a fun one to watch!

Have we ever talked about Hiccup deciding not to play Viggo's game at all? I haven't rewatched RttE in a very long time and forgot. Was that ever an option, or something Hiccup considered? Viggo made Hiccup engage of course, but there should have always been a point where Hiccup went "I'm not part of that game, as much as you believe it in the bubble you live in. Just stop bothering us." This should have been the surprising element, but I don't really remember it like that.

In a way, the game got broken in the end, but it was rather through Ryker's betrayal than through anything Hiccup did, wasn't it?

Because I feel like Viggo is someone who'd absolutely loathe to be ignored.
