I'm trying to sleep and the bugs outside are buzzing at a certain cluster of wavelengths that reads to my brain as a human voice and whenever I let my focus shift it jumps to trying to hear what the gnat king has to say

Everything I learn about Twisted Wonderland characters is like this is Grimoire Stormcloud he watched his younger sibling die in front of him at the tender age of ten and has never processed that grief, he is stuck between mourning and depression, also his mental illness is the only thing keeping him from dying so he can't even move forward or heal in any way or he will literally catch on fire and burn alive. And I'm like wow okay and then I move on and next it's like this is George he likes stamp collecting :)

Whoa, this film opens up with the main character saying she rejects the idea that you need to fall in love/get married to have happiness and she isn’t interested in finding a partner, surely THIS time she won’t fall in love by the end of the movie

Okay so it's easy enough to say "x character is based on y" but sometimes it gets a little tricky. There are three people based off "good" characters - Aladdin's Sultan, Sleeping Beauty/Princess Aurora, and the Huntsman from Snow White. As a visual nod to their distinction, when they cast void magic it's depicted as white as opposed to the purple/black for everyone else. This is strange because there's another character who should count for this if he is who we think he is - Lilia, the >700yr old father, seems strongly based on the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty. But he's depicted with the usual dark void magic. So either he's not who we think he is or the three fairies are technically classed as villains. also he's strongly associated with bats and kinda vampire-coded and I could not tell you why you just gotta roll with it
The original disney canon's relationship to the world is... very strange. Because at first you might think it's a world where the villains "won", as it were, seeing as how everyone sees them positively and there's statues of them and they keep being referred to as "the great seven". But then bits of lore keep being dropped that clearly reference the happy endings to the stories as we know them (a princess from the Scalding Sands marrying a "street rat", a mermaid princess marrying a human prince) but for whatever reason the villains just aren't remembered as such? Like Ursula the Sea Witch is known only for her "benevolence" in helping the merprincess and not... anything else she did? It's all very strange and frankly a little inscrutable
Despite being isekai'd there from our world, the semi-self-insert protagonist seems wholly unfamiliar with all Disney properties, even when having prophetic dreams of plot-relevant disney scenes and talking to MICHAEL MOUSE HIMSELF through the magic mirror in their room
Ghosts are real and their main purpose in the narrative is to be the school chefs (and roomates to the protag - these are two seperate groups of ghosts)
The boy who is the poison apple is a country bumpkin and is part of a family of literal apple growers. They're the best in the world, to the point that when visiting a red carpet event Harveston apples were touted as being rare and exotic and the others thought they should probably thank Epel more for the copious amounts of apple product he keeps gifting them
Despite splitting Ursala's two eels into two separate characters, the three hyenas from the Lion King are all represented by a single guy
Animal speech is a skill that can be taught to anyone but beastmen seem to have an innate affinity for it (especially the aforementioned hyena who uses it to get one of his teachers cats out of trouble for extra credit)
The school's central heating is powered by fairies and they are so vital to the thermoregulation of this school there's a whole event about it
The names of locations never match what was in the original disney property to a hilarious degree. Who's Agrabah I only know the Scalding Sands. Pridelands? Nah it's the Shaftlands now. France? Welcome to Fleur City
One of the card soldiers had a crashout over learning that not all eggs become chicks and the ones you buy from the shop are actually unfertilized. He was still eating eggs before he knew this he just got angry when people broke his eggs "for dishonouring the chicks"
Another of the card soldiers is essentially just an instagram influencer
The actual dorm buildings are not on school grounds but are accessed via magic mirror portals. The school is on an island with a thriving town and tourism and a really nice port but 99% of the time you portal away somewhere else instead
The characters based on Hercules are techno-themed because it's the most recent film of the lot (which is ironic since it's set the furthest back). Technology and magic interplay a lot in this world, up to and including the fact that you can literally hack into spells with enough time and tech (this only really comes into play once because it's niche but it's still cool as hell)
(MASSIVE SPOILERS) Idia (Hades) had a brother named Ortho who fell into the Underworld and became a monster/is treated as dead so the Ortho we're familiar with is a robot he built as the world's most intense coping mechanism. As of now he's kinda come to terms with it and says he has "two brothers named Ortho" and he makes me cryyyyyy
Things I have learned about twisted wonderland after spending two days trawling the wiki (it's a hobby):
The fictional magic school the game is set in is an all boys school. Idk why I never knew this or why I never noticed there were no female characters.
All the characters are based on disney villains. I knew this. What I did not know is that they really quickly ran out of classic villains and so there's two characters that are hot anime boy gjinkas of Ursula's eels. There's an anime boy straight up based on the evil queen's apple. Theres an anime boy based on Malificent's lightning attack. There's an anime boy who's just Sleeping Beauty. Its anime boys all the way down.
One of these anime boys seems to have a signifigant part of his personality be he just gets posioned a bunch.
Actually there seems to be just a lot of posion in this school. There's two electives on toxicology.
One of the students is not actually a teenager, he's a young adult who enrolled late and then got held back a year.
Another student is also a full grown man (700) and has a teenage son who also attends the school
One of the students already knows everything in the curriculum and was only enrolled because his family is trying to socialize him like he's a neglected shelter puppy
This same student started his own school club. It has one member (himself) and is dedicated to looking at gargoyles on campus.
I'm not sure the socialization plan is working.
I'm like 90% sure the school headmaster is wanted by the IRS

The dorm based on the Lion King has a character who is a wolf. Wolves are not in the Lion King. Nobody knows what specific wolf (if any) he's based on
The one eel boy decided he liked the sensation of having legs so much he's made his main hobby hiking
