Epel: Vil-san gave me a final once over earlier, so I should be looking my best… I think?

Epel: Whew… Interviews make me so nervous. I gotta watch how I speak…

???: Kufufu, don't be so stiff. You're today's birthday boy, after all.

Lilia: So… Happy Birthday, Epel! Relax, and enjoy yourself today.

Epel: So, you're my presenter, Lilia-san? I might feel a bit better now that you've said that. Thank you!

Lilia: Right. Then, I'll read you the first question.

Lilia: "If you could use flight magic to go anywhere, where would you like to go?”

Lilia: You don't have to consider your magical prowess whatsoever. Just answer with wherever you want.

Epel: Well, if I don't have to think about my own magical power… Then I'd like to go to the capital city of the Shaftlands.

Lilia: Oho. I've been to that city ages ago. It was a bustling, crowded city.

Epel: Well, that's because it's the capital city of the world's largest country.

Epel: I'm from the Shaftlands, but the capital is so far from my little hometown, so I've never been…

Epel: But, back in middle school, there were a ton of students who were looking into going to school or work there.

Epel: A lot of the people in my hometown also apparently left to go live in the capital, or the cities near it…

Lilia: Hm… But it doesn't seem to me like you yearn to join the city folk that much.

Epel: Of course not!

Epel: The folks who left my village and my classmates all had the same thing to say, that there was nothing to do around there…

Epel: 'OW RUDE CANYA GIT!?

Epel: …Uh, I mean, I thought it was pretty rude of them to say. And sure, we don't have a popular department store, or any tourist attractions, but…

Epel: But we have bountiful nature, and delicious apples… My hometown has so many wonderful things to offer.

Lilia: Kufufu, sounds to me like your dialect is rather charming in and of itself, too.

Epel: Eheheh…

Lilia: So if it's not that you're yearning for city-life, then why are you wanting to go to the city?

Epel: You said it yourself, Lilia-san. That city is bustling and crowded.

Epel: I think it'd be nice to be able to look down from my broom and watch the busy, congested streets.

Lilia: Oho, that's not a bad idea.

Epel: Eheheh! I mean, of course, I'd like to walk the streets with my own two feet, too.

Epel: So many people'll say that "You can find whatever you want in the capital city of the Shaftlands," but…

Epel: I'm certain there's some stuff that Harveston has that the capital doesn't. That's what I want to find!

[Part 1] Sora: Happy birthday!!!! Lilian: Thanks! Hey, what's in your hands? Sora: Well, since you're always the one doing interviews on birthdays, and that it's your birthday today, Dad ordered me to interview you. Although I'm doing this because I want to, not because he told me to. Lilian: Pfft, okay. Ask away then. Sora: K so what's your favorite food? Sora:... Sora: What kind of lame questions is that? *Sora throws the paper away* Sora: Forget the article. There's some things I really wanna know and I don't wanna wait any longer. Lilian: A-alright, but please still record it, I don't want the newspaper club to have nothing...(especially considering I'm part of it.) Sora: Do you miss your old world? *Lilian stares blankly, stunned* Lilian: I... Can't say I do. Sora: Why's that? Lilian: Well, I don't remember any of it. I know it has technology, and every vague thing, but when I try to make out the details, it blurs. I can't really miss something I've never known. But there is something... Sora: What? Lilian: When I think of my birthday, I remember something. One scene. I'm in a woman's arms. I must be about 4 or 5, I don't really know. She talks to me, and she says my name. Her voice is soft. On the wall I see a calendar, and the date of november three is circled three times in red. That's all I know about myself. [Part 2] Sora: ...That's sad. Lilian: Maybe. Honestly, it feels like watching someone's else memory, not mine, so it doesn't affect me as much. Sora: Do you ever think about going back even though? Lilian: If we ever find a way, that's probably what I'll do. I don't belong in Twisted Wonderland; I need to go back to where I truly belong. Sora: No other reason? Lilian: Well, I am curious of where I come from, but I'm doing this mainly because it's the right thing to do. Sora: And if you don't end up going back, what will you do? Lilian: I'll probably get a job on Sage's island and I'll live there until I have money to move else where, because there's no chance Crowley will let me stay after graduation. After that, I think I'll travel. I want to see what the world truly looks like. Sora: Bold of you to assume we're not taking you back to Briar Valley with us. Lilian: *chuckle* That's probably where I'll settle in the end, but first I want to figure out who I really am. Sora: But I thought we where making theories on which if you didn't go back to your world? Lilian: Yeah, I meant my present self, not my past. Or rather, who I want to be outside of NRC and in a context no one knows about my conditions. I want to know about my hobbies, what I like, those kinds of things. I'll probably go visit Ace and Deuce too sometimes. Sora: Well, if you need a travel comrade, just ring me up. If you need financial support, too. Lilian: Thanks. [Part 3] Sora: Where will you go during your travels? I'm curious about the places you'll want to visit. Lilian: Hmm... Definitely the Queendom of Roses, and maybe Harveston and Fleur city. I think I'd like to go to each place where one of my friends live. It'll be nice to see them again and I'll be able to travel to more varied places. Sora: I recommand the scalding sands, especially Silk City. Lilia and I went there for our Honeymoon and I've made memories that will never fade. Lilian: I'll take notes on that. Grim: hey, you two! We're gonna serve dessert, come quick! Lilian: We should probably do as he says before he gobbles down my birthday cake. Sora: Right on that. *They walk towards the table where every member of the cast is sitting.* Grim: C'mon and make a wish already so we can eat! Lilian:*Giggles* Alright, alright! *Lilian blows the candles* Sora: Did you make a wish? Lilian: I did. Sora: What was it? Lilian: Don't they say that if you tell your wish outloud it won't come true? Sora: I didn't know you were this sneaky ~ Oh well, you do you. *Sora goes away to talk to the others* Lilian: (I wish...) Lilian: (I wish this moment would just last forever so I wouldn't have to choose wether I leave or not.)

Sooo we had some asks about Neige (and Neige/Epel in particular, although there is one about Neige/Vil) that I postponed replying to for some time because we were busy with other things, but I’ll try to reply to everything today! Danica: Hey, Epel. Are the dorm leaders here?

Epel: Uh…not yet. I’m waiting for them to start my etiquette lessons. 

Danica: Ah okay. I need to ask Rook something so you mind if I wait here with you? I had something I wanted to give you anyway. 

Epel: Oh, no I don’t mind. 

*She sits down* 

Epel: What did you have for me?

Danica: Well, last time we talked, you were complaining about the food Vil-san is making you eat. I thought these might make them a little less flavorless. 

*Hands him a packet of mixed herbs and spices*

Danica: I blended these together based on what I saw you eating the other day, but these work well on many kinds of dishes. And if Vil-san asks, you can say these spices are good for enhancing your complexion, discouraging breakouts, and giving your skin a healthy glow. All of which is true. 

Epel: All that from a few spices? I never really saw spices as anything other than something to make food taste good. *smiles* Thanks, they have a nice smell too…*He suddenly gives a weird look*

Danica: Hmmm? 

Epel: N…no, it’s just that…I thought I smelled apples. Is one of the things in this packet grounded up apples or something?

Danica: Nope, what you probably smell is my hand cream. It’s a special recipe from my family’s company. Using apples from the Haveston region. 

Epel: Harveston? That’s where I’m from! Where I grew up!

Danica: Really? I’ve visited Harveston with my family a few times. The scenery is so pretty but the weather is pretty cold! I don’t do well with cold weather. 

Epel: Heh, I don’t mind it much. Snow is nice to look at, but sometimes I do wish snow wasn’t cold.

Danica: Right?! Me too! 

*they both laugh* 

Epel: Hmm, it’s funny, you seem lot different from the others here, Danica. 

Danica: You think so? I don’t really see any difference. What do you mean?

Epel: Well, I never thought I’d have anything in common with someone in Pomefiore. 

Danica: But you’re in Pomefiore too, Epel. 

Epel: Yeahhhh, but can I be honest with you? Promise not to tell the dorm leader?

Danica: I don’t really talk to Vil-san like that unless it’s about something important. So go ahead, you’re secrets safe with me.

Epel: Well, I really don’t like Pomefiore. I think the Dark Mirror sorting me into Pomefiore was a mistake and I’m secretly looking into transferring to Savannaclaw.

Danica: Savannaclaw? That would be quite a switch! To say nothing of having to approach the dark mirror again, the difference between Savannaclaw and Pomefiore is like night and day! 

Epel: That’s why I want to join them. I want to be a strong and powerful mage, everyone in that dorm are all tough and muscular! I’ll never learn to be strong in Pomefiore since everyone here are all snot-nosed, fancy schmancy folks too focused on manners and appearances and…*he notices Danica giving him a look* n…not that you’re like that, Danica! That’s what I mean when I said…

Danica: But my father runs a cosmetic company, I’d like to help my family’s business one day and I’m very careful about my appearance. 

Epel: Yeah but you get real good grades, you fly very well and I heard Taima say you run pretty fast too. You may be in Pomefiore too but you’re smart and strong. 

Danica: …

Danica: No, not really. But…

Epel: Hmm? 

Danica: To be honest, Epel, I was unsure about Pomefiore at first too. But I’m beginning to understand why the Dark Mirror sorted me here. I don’t think it would make such a mistake with you either. 

Epel: No, no. It was definitely a mistske. I came to this school to be strong. I won't in a dorm like this. 

Danica: *smirks* You think so? Let me ask you something, since you take apples so seriously, I’m sure you’re aware of the apple created by the Fairest Queen. Am I right? 

Epel: Yeah, she placed a powerful spell on that apple but the apple looked so red and appetizing that no one could tell. 

Danica: If that same apple was in front of you right now, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell it from another apple until you took a bite and by then it would be too late. Pretty and appealing but very strong. I think Pomefiore is a lot like that. 

Epel: What do you mean? You don’t think the guys in Savannaclaw are strong too? 

Danica: I’m not saying that Savannaclaw students aren’t strong. But there are many kinds of strength. I feel like if you were to transfer there, you would definitely become stronger but you would only develop one kind of strength and you need all sorts to become a successful mage. 

Epel: I’m…not sure what kind of strength can come from being in Pomefiore. 

Danica: Well, Sidonie-san once told me that the dorm leader of Pomefiore has to be the one best at creating poisons. And I heard Professor Crewel mention that most of his top students are from Pomefiore. So pomefiore students definitely have strength. The kind that others may take for granted and assume isn’t there because of our appearances. Savannaclaw strength is obvious but Pomefiore strength is deceitful, unassuming and surprising. 

Epel: Surprising, huh? I was definitely suprised when I first met Vil-san and he…ummmm…

Danica: And what? What happened when you first met Vil-san? 

Epel: Urm…well…I’m a little embarrassed now since…promise not to laugh at me?

Danica: I would never. 

Epel: Well…alright…it’s just…[A/N: The following has spoilers for future Book content 5. It was alluded to in the beans day event but it’s still been redacted for my EN-only followers. I’ll update it at a later date but if you know, you know…]

Danica: SERIOUSLY?! But Epel, you do realize that means you have to stay in Pomefiore right?

Epel: Why? Why does that mean that?

Danica: Because if you leave now, that means Vil-san would have gotten the better of you. And if the Savannaclaw dorm leader knew that was one of the reasons you wanted a transfer, he might consider that cowardly.

Epel: *jumps from the table* COWARDLY?! Just one apple-pickin minute, I ain’t no coward darn it! I ain’t…oh! I mean…

Danica: *smiling* What’s this? A whole new side of you I’ve never seen before! 

Epel: I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Vil-san is always getting on me about…

Danica: Is Vil-san here right now? And if I’m honest, I prefer this side of you.

Epel: R…really?

Danica: Really! Promise me if you stay here, you’ll speak more naturally when we’re by ourselves. I know you couldn’t get away with that with Vil-san, but I don’t..

Epel: Nah I’m stayin! I ain’t no coward and I ain’t gonna let Vil-san think I am either! 

Danica: *laughing* Good! Don’t leave me!

Vil: *standing with Rook* Ara ara, you two certainly are full of energy! 

Danica and Epel: …!

Vil: Epel, I hope that means you’re ready to begin your lessons. 

Epel: Y…yes, Sir. 

Danica: Good afternoon, Vil-san, Rook-san. We’ll talk later, Epel. 

Epel: Ohhh, but didn’t you say you needed to talk to Rook-san? 

Danica: Oh it was nothing that can’t wait until later. I won’t keep you three. 

Rook: You’re more than welcome to join us, Mademoiselle. What we’re instructing Epel in can be beneficial to you as well. 

Danica: Really? Well, if Vil-san doesn’t object.

Vil: I don’t mind, perhaps Epel will be more amenable with another freshman learning with him. 

Danica: Ah, very well then. 

*Danica takes a seat with the three. She and rook share a knowing glance and she nods. Rook smiles.*

Danica: (Good, looks like Epel won’t be leaving Pomefiore after all. Hopefully, anyway. And hopefully Rook will be pleased. He and Vil will won’t lose their poison apple and I’ll get to keep my one freshman friend in this dorm! I’m sure Epel will grow to like Pomefiore in time.) *she smiles*  (A win for us all!)

Malleus: Shall I place it here?

Epel: Y-Yes…

[thud!]

Stall Owner: I wasn't expecting you to lift up the whole truck and carry it all at once… Magic sure is amazing.

Epel: Well, I mean, I think Malleus-san is really the only one who can do this sort of thing…

Stall Owner: Anyway, thanks to the both of you! You really saved my hide!

Malleus: However… I opened one of the crates and took a look inside, it seems a few of the apples have been damaged.

Malleus: Was it due to the way I transported them? I seem to have caused you unneeded trouble.

Stall Owner: Oh, I think these bumps and bruises probably happened on the truck ride over. It's not your fault.

Stall Owner: This isn't nothing to worry about. Right, Epel?

Malleus: Is that so?

Epel: Yep! I mean, if these were going to be eaten as is, or made into whole candied apples, they wouldn't be able to be sold like this, but…

Epel: But since his stall is going to be selling pastries made from processed apples, this much damage isn't an issue.

Malleus: I see. So, damage does not necessarily constitute the disposal of these apples.

Epel: Oh, we couldn't do something so wasteful as to throw them away! Harveston's apples are way too delicious for that.

Stall Owner: That's that. And most of the apple pastries I have here are special made for this city, you know.

Epel: Oh, you're right. Looking at your menu, I don't think I've seen a many of these pastries before.

Epel: You've got a pound cake that looks like the Bell of Salvation. And… Is this a pie? It's kind of weird.

Stall Owner: The theme of the festival here in the City of Flowers is "Topsy-Turvy," right? That's why I switched up the pie crust and the filling.

Epel: So, you're saying that the apple filling is wrapped around the pie crust? Wow, I didn't know that kind of thing was possible!

Malleus: They are all so exquisite. The other apple pastries you have all look rather fascinating, as well.

Stall Owner: Oh yeah, I should do something as thanks for the two of you helping me. I'll treat the two of you to some Harveston apple pastries.

Epel: But don't you have to make your pastries for the festival?

Epel: I can make something for Malleus-san as thanks. Since he carried the whole truck over here, we got plenty of time.

Stall Owner: Sorry for everything… And thanks, I'll leave it to you. Feel free to use any of my cooking utensils or seasonings.

Epel: It's done! It's not as fancy as the ones you'd find at this here stall, but…

Malleus: It smells wonderful… Did you bake the apples?

Epel: Yep, I baked some thinly sliced apples with a ton of butter.

Epel: Please try it with alongside the vanilla ice cream here. It'll be super delicious!

Malleus: Is that so? Then, allow me to try some.

Malleus: ...I see, this is pretty good. It has a different flavor and texture from fresh fruit.

Epel: So, actually, I made this baked apple from the damaged apples you saw earlier. Does that make you feel a bit better?

Malleus: Ah, indeed, because it was baked, I cannot tell what it looked like prior. I understand why he said there would be nothing to worry about.

Epel: Us in Harveston have always made sure to eat all our excess apples so there's no waste.

Epel: And recently, we started selling apple juice, too…

Epel: Whenever Harveston has a festival, we have a ton of stalls lined up selling a lot more of our traditional pies or other dishes with apples in them.

Epel: They're much tastier than any quick and easy thing I can whip up… It'd be nice if you could try it sometime too, Malleus-san.

Malleus: Harveston, I see. I will remember that.

Epel: …Ah! I just realized how much time has passed. I need to head back.

Malleus: I shall also return to my group. Thank you for the meal.

Epel: No, thank you so much!

[City of Flowers]

Epel: S-Sorry to keep you waiting! Am I late…?

Azul: Not at all. It is still 30 seconds before the time we agreed on, so you're not late at all.

Epel: I can't believe you were even counting down to the seconds… I bet I'd've been in a load of trouble if I was late…!

Azul: …Oh?

Epel: …? Uhh… What's wrong?

Azul: No, nothing… I only thought I smelled the delicious fragrance of apples coming off of you.

Azul: There weren't any shops on the route we took earlier that served apples, so I'm curious, where did you have some?

Epel: Fufu, it was just a special situation that happened.

Deuce: A special situation? Why're you sounding so self-important? Oh, did you find a good shop tucked away somewhere?

Epel: A good shop…? Oh, yeah, it was a great shop! But it's almost time to meet up with everyone else, so there's not enough time to chat about it now.

Epel: I'll tell you guys just how awesome the place is later once everything settles down.

Epel: 'Sides, after everything's over… We'll still have a ton of time to enjoy this visit!
