Work continues on the Evil Queen Necklace. It’s going… concerningly well so far, but I also havnt gotten to the tricky part yet- making the prong setting for the ruby I want to hang in the center.

Iris van Herpen Fall 2025 Couture
“The opening ‘Living Look’ is a first-of-its-kind vision - Inhabited by 125 million bioluminescent algae that emit light in response to movement. Created in collaboration with biodesigner Chris Bellamy @/bio.crafted, it is a living system cultivated in seawater and encapsulated in a specialized nutrient gel. A translucent protective coating allows light and air to pass through.
Rather than constructed, the dress is nurtured. Its circadian rhythm and environment are carefully tuned to its marine origin, transforming fashion into an act of care.”

Went rock hunting in central Missouri. Found lots of cool rocks. These are a few of my favorites.
Pretty sure Ive got chert, limestone ( or maybe slate) and quartz druzy. I also found a hagstone in a river bed!
Should you, dear reader, have a more specific knowledge of what these rocks are, please feel free to tell me.

Obnoxious cyberpunk outfit continues. Now I just need to make the leggings. That requires stretch fabric, and Im kind of afraid of those ;-; But I shall prevail!

God has not seen fit to stop my sinful hands, and so my creation has come to pass!
It still needs hemming, but it’s done otherwise. A pleasingly easy project, I actually hand stitched everything. With these two weird, slinky, stretchy fabric, I think machine sewing would have actually been much more annoying.
Actually, I think it’s rather cute with that long skirt. Gives 1910s vibes. I might make another with not pepto pink fur for actual normal wear.

Im making a glitter and faux fur pimp coat. You can’t stop me.
Somebody probably SHOULD have stoped me, but it’s too late now.

Had the CLASSIEST marshmallow roasting experience last night.
Is that a chafing dish I got from Goodwill? Well, it WAS a chafing dish I got from Goodwill. Now it’s a classy ass brazier/ tabletop grill.
Tempered glass pans are a joy. Since they’re designed to go in oven, which get as much or more hot than the average wood fire, you sure can just… set a fire in them.

The horrors persist, but so do I. I am causing the horrors.
Got everything cut out - cutting fur is a pain in my ass and made my home look like I murdered a muppet. Also got most of the pieces assembled, just need to stitch the fur to the back. Then it’s just a few seams to stitch up. This pattern is really just a bathrobe, but glam.

Somebody probably SHOULD have stoped me, but it’s too late now.

Went to the Roaring exhibit at the St Louis Art Museum. It’s explores the connections between fashion, industrial design, fine art, and the concepts of Speed, Progress, and the Machine in 1900-1930s Europe and America.

Statue of Metjetji
This sculpture portrays Metjetji in his later years, dressed in a long pleated kilt indicative of a senior official's status. Notably, the statue features inlaid stone eyes made of obsidian and alabaster, outlined in copper, suggesting that this was considered the most important of Metjetji’s statues. The large head, prominent eyes, and elongated fingers are characteristic of the "Second Style" of sculpture that emerged during the transition from the 5th to the 6th Dynasty, emphasizing wisdom and maturity.
Old Kingdom, late 5th Dynasty to early 5th Dynasty, ca. 2371-2288 BC. Now in the Brooklyn Museum. 51.1

Immediate warning to yarn users!
Knitpicks has recently been sending out yarn infested with carpet beetles. Apparently one of their warehouses has an active infestation.
They have shut the warehouse down for now, but if you have recent yarn from them in your stash in may be infested!
Knitpicks is not currently informing their customer base of this issue (pretty standard for them, unfortunately), so word of mouth is necessary.

I am doing a research project on how the diameter of a yarn ball relates to the length of yarn it contains. I'm in the data collection stage now, so I need data from a variety of people to account for differences in tension and fiber type. If you want to help please fill out the Google form linked below. If you have any questions send me an ask. I am a college student in finals week right now so it might take me a little bit to answer.

I attempted to make: Paper!
6 months of collecting lint ( for the cotton) has resulted in something that technically it would be correct to call paper. It’s very texture.
I could have just made paper with existing paper scrap, but I didn’t really want to turn already paper into slightly worse paper, so I read collecting dryer lint was the easiest way to get cotton fiber fluff. It did work pretty well, though it didn’t go very far- I think 6 months worth of lint, mixed with a small amount of paper scrap, got me 4 sheets of 8x10ish paper.
I have vague plans to make a spell/journal/log book, but I’m gonna need a lot more lint at this rate.

In the Castle City of Mystrás
Mystrás was the capital city of the Despotate of Morea (1262 - 1460), the last Byzantine stronghold against the Franks and the Ottoman Turks. The sons of the Byzantine emperors served in the region as déspotes but in a few occasions the emperors would also be crowned there. Morea eventually fell to the Ottoman Empire seven years after Constantinople (1460). It remained inhabited until 1825 when it was attacked by the Egyptian army under the command of Ibrahim Pasha during the Greek War of Independence. Until then, western explorers often mistook Mystras for Ancient Sparta. In truth, Mystras is overlooking the ruins of Ancient Sparta and the modern city of Sparta is built 8km to the east.
