ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D., a live-action series from The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon, Marvel TV and ABC Studios.

S.H.I.E.L.D. will be written by Whedon, his bother Jed Whedon and  Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss Whedon also is set to direct the pilot, schedule permitting.

It's been years since Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish first began drafting duties on a feature film version of Marvel Comics' Ant-Man and rumors about the project finally making it to the big screen have persisted ever since. Today, The Hollywood Reporterbrings some strong encouragement, revealing that Wright has completed work on a test reel designed to help get the film the green light

There are no hotter rumors in Hollywood then those surrounding what Marvel Studios is calling "Phase 2," for their cinematic universe. The first phase, per the studio, was the path that led them to The Avengers release in theaters this May and started back with the first Iron Man film in 2008. Fours years and six movies later, Marvel is beginning to take a step toward their next ensemble capstone movie, The Avengers 2. But what about Phase 2 is different? Phase 2 will consist of the same characters plus new additions of characters via their own solo movie, followed by their induction into an Avengers sequel. Marvel has said they plan to have two films released every year—but with the introduction of maybe Ant-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange or even Namor The Sub-Mariner—two films per year won't cut it.
