Remakes of games should actually be remakes. Not this copy and paste in 4k. I’m talkin about how remakes should actually take the game and add to it. Put the stuff in that the original devs had to cut. Demon souls remake is good but that’s only cause the original game is good. They could’ve added the sixth world but didn’t. If they remake dark souls they should revamp the second half. Actually do the stuff that the devs originally wanted. Especially with Wind Waker give me the cut islands. If I wanted to play the original game I’d either emulate it on game cube or play it on my old Wii U. Like come on be better

I believe this is the appeal of video games for me. I am an accountant, certified desk jockey. My entire life hasn’t had many life threatening or impossible hardships. However, what gives me this thrill and excitement is via video games.

Monster hunter is the freshest example of where my love and addiction to video games has manifested. Its gameplay loop of constantly struggling to overcome monsters and then get stronger is a system that pulls at my soul. I feel the urge to get stronger and to face greater odds. Not because I know I’ll beat them but because I don’t know I’ll beat them. A game isn’t fun for me when I know I can beat it easily.

Beating a game isn’t even the appeal for me either. With Elden Ring I didn’t feel this huge rush of relief when I beat it. I was left wanting more. I needed another mountain to climb, another cave to explore, and another boss to die to.

I genuinely think the above quote is the reason I play video games. It is an outlet for me to squirm, struggle, and face death without leaving the couch. I love video games and I love the struggle.
