These lovely dudes from Toronto let us use their song “Nomu” as the outro song of episode 3. They are the bees knees and this song is legitimately tied for my favorite song of 2015. Please listen. I promise it will cheer you up.

This touches on a lot of what we talked about this week on our podcast!
Thoughts on James Ferraro's Far Side Virtual
James Ferraro - Far Side Virtual
A representation of post-internet society, the modern world we are living in which is not virtual reality but close enough that it might as well be. Uncanny parodies of commercial jingles and virtual chefs, modern Japanese ringtones delivered immediately to your iPhone. Everything you could ever want is at your fingertips. This album has come so close to being a mirror of ’10s culture that it’s unnerving.
Every song on here is really detailed and intricate, yet extremely simple at the core. You could almost consider it “outsider pop” if you wanted, it mimics things you’ve heard so many times that you wouldn’t even notice them anymore. Muzak so carefully structured that instead of being pleasant background noise it makes the listener actively uncomfortable instead.
It wouldn’t make any sense to listen to any of these songs by themselves, with this album context is everything. All of the tracks will sound the same at first and over time, it will start to make sense. The polished tile floor that this album is perfectly aligns with the message that it’s sending to the listener. Giving away too much would ruin the surprise. This is an album that requires multiple listens and an understanding of the theme and concept behind it to fully appreciate. However it is well worth it, this being one of the best albums released so far this decade. The fact that we are living Far Side Virtual every day makes it one of the most relevant albums of this generation.
