Penelope Featherington's father had left his family in financial and social ruin, and now it was up to Penelope to save her mother and sisters.
Penelope and her family leave the 'ton with nothing, but return months later in reasonable fashion.
The Bridgerton family had always had a soft spot for Penelope Featherington, and with news of her and her family's return they insist that the Featheringtons stay with the Bridgertons during this years season.
Although, Penelope has changed. She no longer worries about typical protocols in the 'ton like being escorted by a maid. Penelope disappears at odd hours, and has money that no one knows about. She has upwards of 4 glasses of champagne or wine at dinner. She no longer views herself as a respectable lady.
And the Bridgertons will not have it, as they do their best to protect her reputation from ruin.

This isn’t a sinister smile. Charles earlier in the episode told his sister he always wanted a real family, flash forward to him hearing his brother saying he was glad Betty had Charles, and Betty responding that he might just be the real deal. He’s been spending so much time with Betty lately, and she’s always going to be on guard after the Chic thing. But now she might actually be starting to trust him and her opinion means a lot. He spent time with Alice, who thinks so highly of Betty and had told him everything. Yeah? So he knows Betty doesn’t trust easily and it probably means the world to him that his sister, who has been hurt so many times and doesn’t let people in easily anymore, and here she is confiding in the one person who means most to her, expressing that maybe she can trust her brother after all.

Okay, sooooooo Riverdale is just so over the effing top.
The writers know they played a majority of us in season 2 with chic. Like, a lot of us were suspicious of chic to begin with
Sooooooo why would the Riverdale writers want to play us again like that? It would genuinely piss me off if Charles is a villain this season. I could handle him having a shady back story or even him doing some shady and questionable shit *cough* listening in on his half-siblings phone calls *cough* as long as the payoff is worth it.
Charles says he wants a family. Betty is trying so hard not to get burned by him. I need Charles at most to be just overly obsessed with the idea of having a family.
Like at most, he uses his FBI resources to become a fucking stalker because he just wants to be closer to the Jones/Cooper’s.
The face he made when Jughead said he was happy that Charles could be there for Betty and the smile he gave when Betty said she thinks he could be the real deal. I didn’t percieve Charles expression as being like “I’ve got them fooled” but more like...
Like he was touched by what they were saying about him. Like he was proud that he was able to be there for Betty like a classic big brother should be when their little sister is being terrorized
I mean Charles caricture is the comics is that of Betty Cooper’s older brother who is an FBI agent. That is what he is known for, so I can see why the Betty and Charles relationship is the one the writers would want to play on the most.
However, I truly do not know what to think of Charles yet. I just want to trust him.
But I am not naive.
This is fucking Riverdale.
If the writers want to make us as the audience and the characters on screen suspicious of Charles motives and intentions (and they fucking will.)
Then at least I hope they make it less predictable by actually making Charles into a not so terrible guy. Just one with serious “daddy issues” and when I say “daddy issues”...I mean abandonment issues, because that’s canonically what happened to him in the show.
Charles was abandoned as a baby and then raised by the sisters of quiet mercy.
He definitely has issues.
I just can’t handle it if it turns out to be another imposter or if he’s working with another person to hurt Betty and the rest of the Jones/Coopers.
Lastly, we gotta know what went down between Chic and Charles. Like, who is Charles? He is remarkably well rounded for a guy who was best friends with a guy like chic. Like wtf? What is that story?
I would say we’ll definitely get answers as the season progresses but as I said
I’m not naive
This is fucking Riverdale.

Can I just bring attention to how lonely Betty is right now??
That scene where is Edgar Evernever is asking her to join the farm. Was truly heartbreaking.
Betty has almost no support system right now that the audience can visibly see. Jughead has had some serious family drama the last few episodes (which is fine, but we have seen only a few times were Juggy has been able to support Betty on screen). Archie and his boxing storyline. Veronica and her mob storyline. Although, I am thankful that Betty has been bouncing between her and Juggy’s place.
But Edgar wasn’t wrong. Everyone else besides the core four that mattered to her were in that room. Her dad was in prison. For trying to kill her. Yes, Betty was turning to him. BUT ONLY BECAUSE SHE HAS NO ONE ELSE.
Her mom -Farmie
Her sister -Farmie
Her “best friend”, Kevin -Farmie
Her cousin, Cheryl - Farmie
Her niece -gonna be raised a Farmie
(To say nothing of Toni, Fangs, and her school principle)
These people...now all know her secrets. They all know about chic and the dead body and everything else that her mother told the farm about her. Such an ultimate betrayal.
So, when Edgar Evernever was persuading Betty to join. It’s like he knew how weakened she was. How vulnerable she was. He wanted to capitalize on that, just as how he capitalized on the loneliness of all the other characters in that room.
He was basically saying “join us and you can have your family back”. And Betty. Wants her family.
Then, when you see her almost give in...it’s truly such a moment. It would be so easy for Betty to just give in and join. It would be so easy for Betty to let everything go and be with her mom and sister.
But Betty doesn’t give in. That is just how powerful of a person Betty is. She is being offered a home, her family, her friends. But she knows that there is something seriously wrong with the farm (I mean all the characters should have known that when they found out Evelyn was a 26 year old posing as a 17 year old married to a 35+ something year old)
Anyway, I don’t know why Edgar is honing in on getting Betty to join. I don’t know what’s gonna happen to her at school when Edgar gave his Farmies an order to “catch her”. What does he plan to do once he catches her? Force her into a baptism where she drowns and no one helps her like she did with her mom. I truly don’t know
If Hal is dead. I truly worry about Betty. I hope the writers realize that the Farm story is probably the most intriguing story line this season and will maybe give Betty some more support.
I don’t know if it was a choice to isolate the core four from one another this season, but it feels like it. I am not saying that they aren’t involved with one another at all. It’s just they truly have so many other things happening in each of their lives right now. How can they be a good support for one another?
End of rant

Wait lemme get something straight
So Betty and Jughead are part of genuine murder coverups. Fact
Archie didn’t kill anyone but heard a murder and didn’t report it. Yet Archie goes to prison for murder. Right?
