Just some random writing

(image is NOT mine)
The world was quiet; an inescapable, heavy dusk clung to the earth. I felt an intriguing sensation as my body moved forward, an experience that stirred my awareness of its existence. Each step I took seemed to pulse with a life of its own, making me acutely aware of the rhythmic motion that I could perceive as familiar and distant. My feet grazed across ashes and soft soil; breath came out in a stilled gasp as I maneuvered over the landscape. It was dusk, or at least what I could picture around me. Soft shadows were my only companions on this voyage through the fog. I extended my hand to guide my way and encountered the rough, weathered texture of tree bark, damp and cool. I looked upward, awestruck by the towering, ancient oak trees that loomed above me, their gnarled branches stretching high into the sky. The trees stood with a dignified elegance, seemingly unaffected by the sparse sunlight that filtered through their dense foliage, casting intricate patterns of light and shadow on the forest floor. Despite their imposing presence, there was an overwhelming stillness enveloping the area—a tranquil silence that deeply resonated within my soul, inviting contemplation and reflection." Perhaps this isn't stillness; it's stagnation." My thought came slowly after standing for a time. A whisper floated through the air, delicate and sparse, as if carried by a gentle breeze. But deep within me, I recognized no wind in this desolate place anymore. My feet reacted instinctively, guided by an invisible wisp, as I moved forward. Towering trees flanked my path, their rotten roots disappearing into the ashen ground, remnants of a once-thriving landscape now silenced by the weight of loss and decay. For the time I traveled, I felt no fatigue or hunger, and my body never got tired. I came to a clearing; the ancient trees formed a dense circle around a creature ensnared among their ancient roots. It resembled a colossal elk, but its majestic horns were unlike anything I had ever seen, stretching high above its head and branching out like the arms of an enormous tree. The sheer size of the creature was intimidating, so I took care to maintain a considerable distance between us, feeling the weight of its presence in the air.
As I observed from afar, I noticed the creature stiffened slightly, its back still turned to me. It seemed to curl inward as if seeking solace in its formidable size. With each slow, rhythmic breath, its massive back rose and fell, almost like the earth itself breathing. The sound of its breath was deep and resonant, echoing through the stillness of the forest.
At that moment, I realized that this creature radiated a raw power and an undeniable strength that set it apart from any ordinary elk. It was a living embodiment of the wild, a guardian of the forest depths, evoking awe and respect. But I felt no fear, its cold claws did not graze me as I began to come close. Something was pulling me forward, an inevitable string. As I came forth, the smell of fresh pine and cloves penetrated my senses. The beast turned around, and then I realized it was a man, or at least something resembling humanity in his face and mannerisms. He stood there, his weary eyes locking onto my small frame with confusion and unease. As I looked deeper into those eyes, I could sense profound despair—an ache so deep it seemed rooted in the earth beneath us, far greater than the ancient oaks surrounding us. There was a weight of sorrow in his expression as if he carried the burdens of countless untold stories. Slowly, almost instinctively, my hand reached up to touch his face, wanting to offer comfort amid his pain. "I'm..sorry." My voice came out as only a whisper; I wasn't sure if he could understand me, but it was important to say it. Tears welled up in my eyes, spilling over as a wave of raw pain washed over me, each drop embodying the heartache I couldn't fully express. The memories flooded my mind, sharp and vivid, stirring emotions I thought I had buried deep. I wished for it to be erased from this world, as it felt deeply ingrained in my very existence. He nodded before me as if in understanding before sitting up, its full height towering above me. It looked up, and my gaze followed suit, red swirled in my vision, hazy. The trees, crimson now in color, ripe with rust, the smell making me aware of the disturbing change in nature."What’s happening?” I asked, my voice rising with fervor as panic seeped through me. The pungent odor of decay assaulted my senses, sending a wave of nausea through my body. Its sickly-sweet fragrance lingered in the air, an unsettling reminder of what was lost, making it nearly impossible to breathe without retching. He didn't answer, although I don't think he spoke any language I could comprehend. My legs were knocked down by Instinct as my hand reached for my throat; I couldn't breathe. Air refused to obey my desperate commands as my red-hazed vision grew dim and then dimmed further to darkness.
