I preface this by saying, I am not one with much wisdom or time to back up my post. I write this to begin a discussion acknowledging that I don't know you and you don't know me, thus, if you find this uninteresting, simply scroll on.

Similar to most people, I have come to a point in life where I question the things around me. Life is not quite the simplest, yet I consider myself lucky compared to some. However, it is easy to get overwhelmed with the trivial things that we find so important in the moment. Thus, I have resorted to writing a journal of these endless questions, and I bring to you today exactly that. A question, or better yet, several.

You notice at some point that people aren't truly taught how to deal with conflicts. Aside from the simple kindergarten classes which tell you to shake hands and tell the other person that "it hurt my feelings", at least in my education, it is not often taught how to deal with such scenarios. I suppose this fatal flaw is why divorce rate steadily climbs as people normalize this general rudeness. There are many people in the extremes of being extremely kind or extremely rude in a relationship, people who are taught that a man must give them flowers every week or they should be dumped, or that a man is allowed to tell them off and that's okay. But it's those in the middle that truly end up questioning, what is normal. What is the bare minimum, what is too much. How do you know that your relationship is getting toxic if you just give 110% to your partner normally? How do you know if your anxiety is wrecking the relationship? In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is a character with a strong moral compass and a good father to Jim and Scout, yet certain people question him, he supports those friends whose kids might annoy Scout or Jim, he defends Tom Robinson despite knowing that his racist town will likely convict him. It is characters such as these in classical literature that force the reader to think about relationships. What is good, is it morally right to keep a friend whose relation may have hurt one you love? Some would argue it's a heinous crime, but again, you know them, they have relations with you too, would you want that happening to you?

"A Silent Voice" is one of the most beautiful animes I've ever watched. It was quite a heartwarming experience and the way depression and separation from the world is captured in such an elegant yet relatable way makes me love the movie.

This image is what truly made me feel, because as you observe Shoya you realize what a stark contrast he has from his childhood self. The impact of having everyone suddenly ripped away from him affected him in a deep way. He no longer accepts the people around him as people who love him, he's so scared he doesn't look them in the eye. This image perfectly encapsulates what so many feel in their high school years. It puts the viewer in Shoya's traumatized boots and connects with them in a way that media rarely does.

In a world where people are quick to judge and spread hate towards someone online, "A Silent Voice" greatly brings me joy, as a movie that shows all sides and encapsulates the high school experience so beautifully.
