Sometimes its hard to be faithful, especially when you're feeling distant from God. Please remember, when you're feeling distant, God hasn't left you, he is ALWAYS with you, sometimes you're just too distracted to notice. Peace be with you.

Daily Reflection
Ephesians 1:7
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”
Sorry for the lack of posting, been a bit busier than normal, as my wife and I are in the midst of house hunting and raising a 1 year old little monster (our affectionate term for our little boy, due to his constant growling and gremlin like behavior).
I’ve been thinking about my sins a lot lately, the faults I exhibit as a Christian, father, and husband, and I really feel like I’m in the midst of another depressive bout. I always seem to dwell on my mistakes when I’m in these kind of funky moods, and it never turns out well. I end up delving back into addictions and feeling bitter towards God. Verses like this really help to center me and bring my focus back onto what really matters, the Cross. The redemptive work of Christ, the King of kings, the Prince of Peace, the Redeemer, Logos (word), etc etc. It helps me to realize that God is good, and that no matter what mindset I find myself in, I’m a child of God, redeemed through the blood of His only true son, the churches bridegroom, and MY savior. I’ve planned to take some time out of my day today to sit down and dwell on this fact, perhaps to help me get out of this funk.
Thank you guys for reading, if you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Daily reflection
Matthew 6: 34 "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own."
Today was the celebration for my son's first birthday.

Here he is having a ball as the ringmaster of his very own circus. As a parent for the last year ive experienced plenty of anxiety, and a whole lot of fear for the future. I often think of what will happen to my son, and how he will turn out due to my raising him. Sometimes this thinking turns into worrying, and the worrying into an anxiety attack because what if I'm not good enough? What if I make too many mistakes? What if I fail as a father?
After a long day of preparation and sickness, I began to realize that I probably will make too many mistakes and fail as a dad, because I'm NOT good enough. The only thing that I can do is point my son to God and do my best to love and nurture this boy into a man.

Daily Reflection
Nahum 1:7
“The Lord is good, He is a stronghold in the days of trouble, and he knows those who take refuge within him.”
How often do I as a man decide that I do not need to rely on God’s strength in daily life? How often do I fail in times of temptation?
I feel as though these two questions correlate a lot more with each other than I feel comfortable admitting. When I decide my own strength is sufficient is when I fail. God is our fortress, and when we venture outside of the fortress we are our most vulnerable. My goal for 2021 is to build my home in the fortress, and to seek God daily so that he may know me.

Books I’ve Read (1+2)
So I’m trying to read 50 books this year (light work compared to my high school days, but a challenge in adulthood). So far I’ve finished 2 whole books (go me), one revolving around personal hobbies, and the other around being a Godly father. I’m hoping to review the books as I go, in case someone else out there has the intention of reading them as well.
1. Camping and Woodcraft- Horace Kephart
A classic in the Bushcrafting community, as Kephart is considered one of the fore-fathers of modern camping. The book itself has plenty of good information, but also plenty of outdated practices and phrases. I personally enjoyed most of the books, but at times the phrases and words used in regarding those not of white skin-tone were extremely grating, and made the book quite unpleasant. I did manage to finish it, in spite of those drawbacks and have come to the conclusion that it really does have a lot of GOOD information to add to one’s most valuable tool while camping (the brain), and would highly recommend any one who wants to see how our forefathers camped read this book. Slightly more entertaining, and a lot longer than Nessmuk’s take on the sport, I would give this book a solid B rating.
2. Dad Tired and Loving it- Jarred Lopes
This was a great read, in my humble opinion. I very much enjoyed the author’s take on many common problems that face young, Christian men entering into Marriage AND Fatherhood. Jarred established a call to action for me, showing me that while I may not be a perfect man, I can still point my wife and child towards the Lord in a loving, gentle manner. As a man it can be very hard to come to terms with the fact that your pride is no where near as important as you think it is. A man will often make an ignorant decision because his pride dictates he must. This book shows you that the right decision is the most Godly one, and sometimes that means forsaking your pride and choosing a humbling path. If you’re a newly wed/expecting father, or if you’re a 50-something year old father of 4 with grandkids on the way who really wants to try and continue imparting the love of Christ on your children AND grandchildren, this book could be a solid addition to your library. I give this book a High A rating.

Introduction
Hello, yes you, the person who somehow found this blog, my name is irrelevant, but know that God loves you, and He wants to know you.
A little about myself: I’m a 24 year old Bible College Graduate, husband, and father of an amazing little boy. This is my blog, and I’m hoping to use it to not only record my studies and my discoveries, but also to share Christ with those on this platform. This won’t just be a blog filled with devotionals and Bible quotes, it will also be filled with pictures of my adventures, updates on my life and what’s going on in it, and a personal journal of sorts.
Thanks for stopping by!
