What Karen, Matt and Frank all have in common is that none of them believe they are capable or deserving of having anything soft, genuine and familiar. They don't let anyone in and they push everyone away. EXCEPT with one another. Karen, Matt and Frank have all, in some variation, had conversations with one another where they were at their most vulnerable. Karen and Matt, Karen and Frank, and Matt and Frank. They inspire this kind of connection in one another because, at their core, none of them think they themselves are good people yet see the good in one another.

I don't want this rehashed again. We don't need it rehashed again. We remember.

Quite frankly, I don't give a shit about a love triangle, what I want is a speed run of the reverse that feels entirely more plausible to their characters. Who is going to self destruct first. I want all three of these characters making (undoubtedly selfish) choices for the sake of the other two because they believe they're more deserving of being together.

They're all lined up to feel as if this is largely in part their fault, and it is their duty to make things right in however way they see fit, whether thats killing, beating the ever living hell out of, or exposing. Matt feels he allowed Fisk to rise to Kingpin status once more and even saved his life. Frank has got to feel some sort of responsibility to take care of the racist murdering cops using his symbol and namesake to justify their kind of 'justice'. Karen, the ever present and provoking reporter, has been out of the loop and must feel a sense of responsibility for letting the city forget who Fisk really is (which, Born Again better play up this angle or I'll riot).

None of them are ever going to feel as if they 'get' to have a normal life, and that has been evident of how Matt has behaved in his relationship with Heather, and how Karen and Frank never really came to fruition, nor did Karen and Matt.

I don't want a love triangle, I want three people self sacrificing because they don't understand their importance in the others life, and because they don't think they're deserving of any of it.

rereading the soule daredevil run, and in the “purple” story, matt reveals that the worst thing he could ever do would be… to do nothing in the face of chaos and tragedy.

this is why he breaks when frank makes him confront foggy’s death. he did the worst thing he could fathom: nothing.
