Still one of my favorite fics (thus far) with one of the most in-character depiction of Alastor I’ve ever seen. It’s one of the few fics where I’ve had to send a couple ao3 comments under one chapter because I went way over the character limits.

Decided to print two of my pieces to see the quality and I’m very pleased with them as a physical print

I’m far too indecisive of how to include character’s thoughts in my writing. I keep going back and forth between italicizing them and not, and whether I like them blended into the paragraph or separated into its own. There’s pros and cons to all options and I can’t make up my mind, it’s really starting to irritate me. 😅

I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I thought I was just an asshole who subconsciously fixes everyone’s grammar and rewrites sentences in my head cause it sounded off to me.

Although, I will say, this is why I read when I’m not in the “writing mindset,” but wish to be. With me subconsciously rewriting sentences while reading, it actively forces me into the mood to write. It’s why I go between rereading fics and writing my own.

I think one of the weirdest side effects of being a writer is that while I'm reading, I'll just start subconsciously editing the book. Like, if a sentence sounds odd or off to me, I'll fix it in my head and continue reading as if that were how it was written.

Does anybody else do this?

This is partially why I go so indepth with the ao3 comments I leave because what’s the point of consuming art if not to engage in meaningful conversations and encouraging the creation of more?

I don’t want my only engagement in art to simply be an additional “view” or “like” number increasing, but something that positively influences and leaves an impact. Especially if said-art left an impact on me, I want to—as closely as possible—equally give back to the creator who put in their time and effort into creating something so meaningful, and reflect me doing the same in the feedback that I leave.

current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.
