Staying Safe in MOGAI and LIOM Communities - Part 1

An informational masterpost you can use to make sure you're not interacting with anyone you're uncomfortable with. Since there's so many new possibly harmful terms going around now, we're here to provide info on what they could mean

Let's get to it

Every keyword will follow the following formula: Generally safe - these terms are very often used in complete good faith and their communities are usually safe to be in Debatable safety - the community surrounding this term is full of possibly unsavoury people and/or opinions, which means the term may not always be being used properly. More context is needed Generally unsafe - MOGAI/LIOM spaces have generally deemed this to be a bad or unsafe term/group Multiple definitions or stolen term - this term has been taken from a good-faith community and used for other purposes, or has multiple definitions. Context is needed to figure out how it's being used

Transx and Transid

(tw: ableism, racism, and illegal relationships are discussed here)

Transx: this term has two meanings:

Transx or transX is used by some transmeds meaning 'actually dysphoric non-binary', they are non-binary people with transmedicalist views, meaning they believe you require gender dysphoria to be trans and medicalise the trans experience

Transx is also used by some transid people (see below)

Transid: a term broadly meaning 'trans identities', which includes not only transgender but transage, transspecies, transabled, transrace (outside of adoptees - the transid community also call it 'trace'), transautistic, and so on

What is transage?

Transage refers to anyone who's internal age, or the age they perceive themselves as, doesn't match their actual body age (also called their chronological age)

Alternative terms include altage, chronopeculiar, or chronosian, of which altage and chronosian are listen on the LIOM carrd as LIOM-safe alternatives

The transage community has been noted to have a lot of unsavoury characters within it such as MAPs (minor attracted people) and people who believe less than legal/moral things about consent, chronological age, and dating. The use of transage probably requires more context if you want to know if someone's safe to follow

What is transabled?

Transabled has two definitions:

Transabled can be sometimes considered synonymous with 'person with BIID', a mental disorder (Body Integrity Identity Disorder)

Transabled is used by the transid community to describe anyone who desires to be disabled, or acquire a disability, mental disorder, disease, or similar

It's use in either context is debated due to the wording of the term, but it is debated significantly more in the context of transid for the following reasons:

The term transableism is used in the community to describe the 'discrimination against transabled people'

The term medpunk is associated, a movement that encourages transabled people to acquire a disability, mental disorder, or disease

It includes a variety of subterms such as transautistic, transDID, disabledfluid, etc etc for a variety of neurodivergencies, mental disorders, disabilities, and diseases

A lot of the community supports the use of mobility aids when you're not physically disabled, purely for euphoria reasons, terms exist to describe transabled mobility aid users

The community often talks about and encourages actually transitioning to becoming their disired disability or otherwise

Terms such as 'transed' and 'trans

The LIOM carrd deems transabled to be not LIOM-safe, and a large amount of the MOGAI community view transabled without the context of BIID to be harmful, views on its use with BIID vary

What is transspecies?

This is a term that describes those who identify as a different species than their body, a common experience in alterhumanity and plurality. It's safe to use and is simply just a label preference for some people.

What is transautistic?

Transautistic has its original definition, a miscellaneous definition we couldn't really trace, and its reclaimed definition:

Transautistic is used in the transid community to refer to someone who wants to acquire autism or a 'form of autism'

Some transid people have defined transautistic as anyone who wants to change their autistm status, including those who already have autism but want more or less support needs, and sometimes including those with autism who want to be allistic, also called transallistic, which is sadly a product of internalised ableism

The reclaimed edition of transautistic is used by anyone who's transness is intrisically tied to their autism

Other problems with the transid version of the transautistic community include:

Infantilisation of autism is common in the community

Many autistic people in the community are stuck in their own internalised ableism

Cisautistic is used to describe either those who already have autism and aren't transautistic, or those who don't wish to change their autism status (which includes allistics)

Autipassing is used to describe those who 'pass as autistic', an extremely ableist concept

The community often talks about and encourages actually transitioning to becoming autistic, including discussing the taking of psychotropic drugs, neuroplasticity, and neurotechnologies in an attempt to hope to change their neurology

What about things like transDID, transADHD, etc?

Warning: you may see some people misinterpreting terms like this for meaning 'trans and x', but they are generally harmful concepts otherwise

These terms are the same as transautistic but applying to other disorders and neurodivergencies. The idea of wanting to acquire a disorder does the following:

It encourages people attempting to change their neurology, find a way to 'develop' said disorder, or 'transition' to having said disorder

It very easily romantisises the disorder, its symptoms, and the experiences of people with the disorder

It encourages pretending to have the disorder, acting out symptoms, engaging in closed spaces for that disorder, so on

What is transrace/transracial/trace?

These terms go by the following definitions:

Transrace/transracial is a term stolen from adoptees who are adopted into families of a different race, the term transethnic and transnational are also used by adoptees who are adopted into different ethnicities or nationalities

Transrace/transracial is used by the transid community as well, synonymous with trace and diaracial. They describe someone who desires to be another race, or no race at all. Transethnic and transnational/ity are also seen within the transid community to describe desiring to be of a different ethnicity/nationality

Trace and diaracial within the transid community are generally harmful terms because:

They encourage physically transitioning to another race, 'passing' as that race, and culturally appropriating that race

Some trace individuals advocate or have advocated for the ability to use racial slurs they cannot use

A huge amount of appropriation and disrespect of cultures is present in the community

They're highlighted both red and orange here for one reason only:

Some trace/diaracial people identify as aracial or similarly. This means they do not identify with the concept of race, which could make sense in the context of alterhumanity, neurodivergency, trauma, and possibly other experiences

Therefore, you should look for more info if you're wanting to find out if you'd be comfortable interacting with a trace or diaracial person

Radqueer

If you've heard of radqueer you probably know it from one definition, but there's actually two commonly recognised ones:

Radqueer can be used to refer to someone who believes paraphilias ('queersexualities') and transid identities are inherently queer/under the queer umbrella

Radqueer was reclaimed by transid and other individuals who didn't like this definition for the term, to refer to anyone who is supportive of all paraphilias (also called being pro-para) and transid identities. This would mean they support all of the above transid identities, and paraphilias which will be discussed below. This definition is also red because of the previously discussed harmful aspects of some transid labels

What does it mean to be pro-para?

(tw: this discusses all kinds of illegal relationships )

Pro-para alone is a safe term, it simply means someone who is supportive of all paraphilias and the people who have them, including those with paraphilic disorders, and those receiving support for them. Paraphilia has previously been highlighted in red, orange, and green due to the expansiveness of the community - paraphilias are very common and can range from attraction to hands, to objects, to non-consensual acts, meaning the communities and spaces can drastically vary depending on the views of the people within them. It should be noted that anyone with any paraphilia can be a completely cool person, so more context is needed.

The pro-para community as a unit is the reason it is highlighted orange. Being pro-para is a very wide label and more context would be needed to decide if you're comfortable interacting with someone who identifies as pro-para, as their views could consist of: (it should be noted that these views are often combatted by other pro-paras, these are purely opinions that can be found in 'bad parts' of the community)

Being pro-contact, a term used to describe people who support either romantic and/or sexual contact in response to a paraphilia, typically including the so-called 'big three', see below

Supporting acting on the 'big three', n3cro, z0o, and p3d0 -philia

Supporting cosang or consanguinity, inc3st, sometimes it is specified that it must be consensual and between two adults

Being pro-MAP, a term that describes people who support the use of the term MAP and/or NoMAP (non-offending/offensive MAP). This is highlighted orange because some pro-MAPs only support the use of the term if someone is triggered by considering themselves a p3d0phile, but it is also used by those who claim the label to be queer, a sexuality/orientation, or an umbrella term to be expanded upon (including disturbing terms like 'boy lover' referring to young boys, and such)

Being pro-consent, a term that varies in definition and there are of course good faith uses, but can be used by some to refer to supporting people of any age, or of an age range under the legal age of consent, being able to consent, animals being able to consent, so on

Miscellaneous

Zoosexual: a term describing people attracted to animals, but framing it as a sexuality or orientation rather than paraphilia

N3crosexual: similar to the above but for c0rpses, framed as a sexuality

Inc3stsexual: similar to the above but for inc3st, framed as a sexuality

Ficto-MAP: a MAP who is only attracted to fictional minors. Opinions vary on whether this is a huge concern or not as many fictional minors are very adult-coded and fiction-related paraphilias exist, but the community itself is integrated into the MAP community

Intraplural-MAP: a MAP who is only attracted to minors in their own system, this puts in-system littles and minors at significant risk

Girl/Boy lover: typically used by MAPs to describe a gender preference, which would make it red, but of course some people will use it to refer to their sexual orientation being unaware of it use by MAPs

Child lover: an alternate for MAP

What should you do if you encounter someone using one of these unsafe or harmful labels?

The simplest option is to just block them and leave them unless you're genuinely afraid that they are causing illegal harm, in which case you could leave a report. However, make sure you have substancial evidence.

Do not publicly post about individual users who you think are being ableist, racist, predatory, etc due to their identities alone even if the case is that they are. Many of those who use these terms are minors and sending possibly harassment their way is often far more dangerous than letting them continue until they're terminated if it is against Tumblr's policies. This also means do not call for their mass-reporting as this counts as publicly posting them and they will be harassed.
