I really sat down, edited one (1) chapter of my ~100k long novel, and went, "Welp, that's enough, time to take a hiatus."

You ever look at some of your older published writing, cringe at your older prose, and have to grab yourself by the tits and be like, "You've already rewritten and republished this damn thing twice, move on to your currents WIPs?"

setting up a tiny detail in one chapter to pay it off in the next few chapters feels sooo devious like oooh i can't wait to write the small little reference here that 70% of readers will miss but 30% of readers will cheer for

And I told myself, again and again, while writing this short story that it would be a simple one. It was SIMPLE. Purposefully vague. And now that one paragraph is twice as long and I'm getting the urge to make this simple short story not so simple and short.
