Cosmia is the embodiment of my relationship with my transness, as well as my relationship with gender euphoria and self discovery.

And god damn does it hurt to have people misgender her. Having myself be misgendered hurts quite a bit less- because I am complex with many moving parts. Not that she isn't, she definitely is a complex character; But when she signifies ONE, GIANT part of myself and people get it wrong.. that hurts a lot.

It feels silly to get so emotional over a character, but being trans is such a huge part of who I am. Cosmia's journey of self discovery during her time on Earth, as well as the other Xarix aliens' stories are something I made that I think every trans and gender diverse person will be able to relate to in some way. Even if you are NOT gender diverse, I think seeing her grow and become who she was always meant to be is very heartwarming.

When I post Cosmia in various groups and communities online, she often DOES get misgendered due to being kind of clock-y. But I made her that way on purpose. She identifies as a woman fully, and even though she may not pass as well as some of her friends, she realizes that doesn't matter because she is perfectly feminine in her own way- because there is no ONE way to be any gender. She breaks the mold, and that is by design. However, when I correct people who get it wrong, they tend to double down on their assumptions. I have even had people be outright transphobic towards me and her after correcting them.

Transness is sacred to me. It is sewn into every fiber of my being. I am who I am because I am transgender. Especially now, since I am just starting to find myself again after years of being lost, and not having a clear image of who I was. Transness is love, transness is light, transness is freedom, and THAT is EVERYTHING Cosmia and her friends embody- but especially her.

I wish to put this out there, there is a user on #VGen that is trying to scam. I’m posting this, because whether you’re on VGen or not, people especially, artists’ new to commissions, need to be aware what language is being used to scam.

Turns out if you use a different inking pen it really affects how your drawing comes out- because this is using the default round brush!

It’s so funny how I have a fursona now. I’ve always wanted one and I’ve tried a few designs over the years but nothing serious. Now I have my own Little Guy and he’s great :3

And to think, it’s all because I saw a TikTok telling me to “nerd out”. 🦸‍♂️ I’ve always loved furry characters so it’s fun to have one for myself! I don’t think I’ll be creating much furry art unless it’s for friends and mutuals (You probably know who you are, mutual I’m going to revenge this month 🫵😉)

Previous rendering steps before making the background :)

Since I use 3D models for the poses, I don’t feel a need to sketch a pose unless it’s a really difficult one- so I go straight to lineart.

Then I do flat colors. Skin, hair, and eyes on one layer, then I put different parts of the clothes on different layers. You CAN make your life easier in a way by separating everything onto different layers, but using “select color gamut” lets you skip doing that if you’re willing to use that.

Then I do cel shading as well as using a broad soft brush to add gradients to different part to really deepen the colors in certain areas, as well as making highlights where they’re make sense. I did not place a terminator line because with this amount of sunlight at this angle it wouldn’t make sense. (Some of y’all put that shit on everything and anything ✌️😭)

I then create the background- unfortunately I don’t have steps for this I kinda just do it 😅

And last but not least I use adjustment layers to add gradients maps and edit the brightness on certain elements! Then I’m done!!!!
