He’s Just A Little Guy- and someday he’s gonna be my pngtuber! I hope to make a VTuber model of him but that won’t be for a LONG time. Live2D is scary lol

Gonna keep being personal on main for a second because I think these things are important to talk about and I enjoy sharing things with all of you.

When I was a kid a bunch of my “friends” at the time talked down to me a lot about my art, my dreams, and my ideas. I will give them the benefit of the doubt since kids will be kids, and kids can be super mean- but their hurtful words stuck with me. It even fed into my artistic self-loathing phase where I (mostly) gave up on art from 2018-2021. Words have power, and being as unconfident as I was, this really tainted my relationship with my own creativity.

I originally wanted to be a concept artist at Nintendo in Japan for the Legend of Zelda and Pokémon games. These “friends” told me I’d never get hired since I’m an American. So I gave up on that dream. I then wanted to be a concept art for Bethesda Game Studios for the Elder Scrolls series- but these same school friends told me my style was too anime for that studio, which is fair, but them saying this also made me gave up on that dream. My writing wasn’t good at the time, my art was okay, but these kids tore apart my heart with their words.

Their words planted a seed of doubt within me- and I think their voices affected me more than the bullies I typically dealt with because I trusted these people. They were the only in-person friends I had at the time.

I eventually switched schools and stopped talking to a majority these friends save for one who was NEVER mean to me. (He’s still my BFF) And as years of my life came and passed, and I took my time away from art after that seed of doubt grew- I eventually wanted to come back to art. There were some embers left of the fire within my heart. I still thought of my characters all the time, and when I made my creative return in 2021 I decided to get serious about these characters and finally write a new story for them.

The project grew, and grew. My art improved more and more- and it’s because I fell in love with the craft again. I no longer beat myself up for not being “good enough”. I did art my way, on my own terms, and I’ve BEEN doing that since 2021; And my growth has been astronomical. Because believe it or not, you get better at art by doing it over and over again. Yes, fundamentals will benefit you greatly, but if you just KEEP drawing and you KEEP writing you will just get better and better.

I don’t know if these people remember how mean they were to me under the guise of being my “friends”. Part of me wanted to reconnect with them, because I miss the good times- but when I reflect I realize that they aren’t a good fit for me. We have all grown as people and have undoubtedly matured, and if they remembered the things they said I bet they feel sorry for it- but I just want to say one thing.

I’m doing it.

I’m being an artist, just like I’ve always wanted to be- just like I always KNEW I could be. I don’t get paid for it right now but maybe if I’m lucky someday I will.

I never EVER thought I would become a mangaka. I’ve always loved manga and anime dearly, but I never thought it would become the path I’d take.

I’m happy to be here.

I didn’t give up.

I won’t give up, because I believe in me; And I am good enough. One day my comics will be on shelves and in people’s hands- and once that happens I’ll know I’ve made it.

squidvetica This is sort of personal but honestly who cares! I'm an open book about my mental health journey so l'm opening up a bit to you.

This may sound silly to you guys, but I confide in my characters about my problems.

I have an internal dialogue where I talk with them and it helps me get through stuff- and sometimes l write about it.

A new coping skill for your toolbox, milord. 🙇‍♂️

Anyways- your characters are just fragments of you that create a big mirror. Might as well use that to your advantage, right?

It's fun doodling your own characters in a journal. It doesn't have to be perfect and it's all in good fun! 💖✨

Speed lines can really change the entire vibe of a piece! I always have fun putting these on a drawing- but I do not do it all by hand 🤣

I use an auto action for that then I go in and edit manually to clean things up🫡

Anyways I wanted to draw Xoinu with his sword! Hope ya like it!!

I also used Clip Studio’s puppet warp feature to adjust the pose to make things more dynamic! Super useful 🫡

As you can see the change in the pose, while subtle, made a big difference! 😄

Now vs. Then - Yvaren Edition! (2025 vs. 2024)

So the first drawing is part two of his weapon’s new concept art. I wanted to draw him with both forms of the weapon so here we are! Crazy enough it’s so similar to a drawing from last year I just had to compare them- and the improvement over just one year is just so crazy! Anyways I hope you like my hot dad soldier elf guy lol 🙂‍↕️✨

So I drew some new Yvaren art cuz I just redesigned his badass sword bow thing! But yeah I ALSO found his original concept art from 2016 so I’m gonna put a line break so you can take a gander at that if you choose 🫡 ✨

He’s always been a fave of mine- and I’m so happy with how he turned out and ended up today! Love you, Mr. Stupid Buff Dad Man!

So, these aren’t the final colors for this thing at all.

It doesn’t have a name yet but, it is a great bow that can turn into a one handed sword at will with ✨magic✨! 😁
