👍 Nayans Rocks for 50 Sec The 50-second Tata Sky advertisement featuring Nayanthara was released in all four South Indian languages -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. With a slew of projects such as Imaikka Nodigal, Aramm and Kolayuthir Kaalam in her kitty, Nayanthara is busy juggling between film sets and she barely has time for anything else. Currently shooting for her yet-untitled Telugu film with Nandamuri Balakrishna, Nayanthara took out time to shoot an advertisement for Tata Sky and earnings from it has made her the highest paid southern female actor. Having been paid Rs 3 crore for her last Tamil outing Irumugan with Vikram, Nayanthara has now been paid a whopping Rs 5 crore for a 50-second Tata Sky advertisement and the news has sent shock waves across the industry. The ad was shot over two days and it makes sense why she must have accepted the offer. The commercial was released in four languages -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. On the career front, she is on a signing spree. She recently signed a dark comedy titled Co Co, to be directed by debutant Nelson Dilip Kumar and bankrolled by Lyca Productions. It will be a female-oriented dark comedy on the lines of Nayan’s own Naanum Rowdydhaan, and it will feature her in a role sans any romantic pair. The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander, who has big ticket flicks such as Vivegam and the yet-untitled Pawan Kalyan’s film in his kitty. Saranya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu have been finalised to play pivotal role while the rest of the cast and crew will be finalised in a couple of week’s time. Meanwhile, Nayanthara has signed a Telugu film with actor Balakrishna and the yet-untitled film will be directed by KS Ravi Kumar.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam Review 💓💕💖💘💞 Basheerinte Premslekhanam directed Aneesh Anwar has hit the theatres today (July 21, 2017). The film, featuring Farhaan Faasil and Sana Althaf in the lead roles, has been bankrolled by the banner Fort Entertainment. The expectations were good enough on the movie, as the posters and superhit songs of the film, did hit the right chords with the audiences. But does the movie offer anything special to the audiences? Keep reading the complete review of Basheerinte Premalekhanam to know more.. H Basheerinte Premalekhanam Movie Review: A Not-so-refreshing Trip Down The Memory Lane! Plot The story of Basheerinte Premalekhanam is set in a village of the 1980s, where televisions aren't that common. Basheerinte Premalekhanam takes you through the events that happen when a Television finally arrives to the village. Enter Basheer, who is the only one who knows to assemble and operate television. Basheer who meets Suhra, whose house the television is being installed, falls in love with her. Their lovestory and subsequent events that unfold form the crux of the story. See how the cast & crew members of Basheerinte Premalekhanam have fared for the movie.. Farhaan Faasil As Basheer The title character Basheer has been portrayed by Farhaan Faasil. The young actor, in his second film has put up an 'okay' performance. In fact, he didn't look that convincing in most of the romantic sequences. He has tried to bring in some differences but couldn't pull them off in the best possible manner. Sana Althaf As Suhra Sana Althaf, plays Suhra, the lady-love of Basheer. She got to play the role of a girl in the 1980s and has given a decent performance. She looked perfect for the role but still, there is room for improvement, especially in dialogue delivery. Madhu (Abu Ikka) & Sheela (Ummumma) Madhu & Sheela play a couple in this movie. Disappointingly, there are no combination sequences for them in the film. We get to see them together only in the song 'Pranyamaanithu...' Sheela gets to play the tailor-made role of a grandmother, who is the biggest support to her granddaughter. She pulls off the role with ease. At the same time, certain dialogues looked a bit dramatic and overboard. On the other hand, Madhu is a towering presence in the film. He does his best and his role could have been developed in a better manner. Manikandan Achari, gets to play a real different role in this movie. In fact, he is undoubtedly the best performer in the film. The actor has done a neat job with the change in dialect and there is an emotional sequence in the movie, which shows how good an actor he is. Rest Of The Cast Basheerinte Premalekhanam also features Ranjini Jose, Prem Navas, Sunil Sugatha, Nobi, Sreejith Ravi, Sivaji Guruvayoor etc., in important roles. Among the supporting cast, Hareesh Perumanna scores heavily with his comic timing. Joy Mathew also gets to play a full-length role, which he has done to perfection. Script – Shinod, Shamseer and Bibin The script of the film has been penned by three newcomers Shinod, Shamseer and Bibin. They have put up an interesting plot on the papers, but failed to make use of it properly. The development of the characters is on the weaker side, with the lead characters also failing to establish themselves because of shoddy writing. Even the romantic track has been developed in a poor fashion, which has backfired. Direction – Aneesh Anwar Aneesh Anwar, who gave the audiences two brilliant works in the form of Zachariyayude Garbhinikal and Kumbasaram, has opted to take a different route in Basheerinte Premalekhanam. This time, he has opted to take the full-on entertainment route. Disappointingly, Aneesh Anwar fails to impress this time. The film-maker in him is left confused most of the times.

Role Models Review 💘 Role Models is a comedy that will take you back in time with conservative, if joyless, entertainment. It is old wine, new bottle once again as one more comedy joins the sorry remains of the genre's glory days in Malayalam cinema. This time, it is Fahadh Faasil-starrer, Role Models, whose juvenile jokes and tacky plot tickle no funny bone whatsoever. Rafi from the well-known Rafi-Mecartin duo helms Role Models by overtly sticking to his strengths. Never do we sense a reinvention from his side. Instead, Rafi's traditional screenplay reels from rehashed comedy so much so that he rips off his own jokes and characters of the past. Fahadh is typecast as the reserved white-collar guy with a history. He looks so out of place under the overdone humour. Fahadh is no stranger to the art of comedy, as seen before in North 24 Kaatham and Maheshinte Prathikaram. But, those performances were deftly handled through great collaborations with his directors. Here, his half-hearted effort is an awkward symbol of the film's fundamental failings. Fahadh's sidekicks in Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt and Sharafudheen are nothing more than the typical comic reliefs that have infested Malayalam comedies over the years. Namitha Pramod's heroine wants us to believe she is cool before double-crossing everyone with corny flashbacks. The supporting turns from Renji Panicker, Srinda Arhaan and Siddique, among others, and the Goan milieu are of no help either as they exist for the sake of existing. If characters are written so poorly, even the best actors would struggle to make them work. So, it is Rafi's screenplay rather than the performers which has to take blame for Role Models' absentee entertainment. Audiences welcome over-the-top comedies as long as the laughs are aplenty. Films like Role Models expect viewers to switch off their brains. But, there is only so much room for zero-trick ponies in today's cinema.

Oru Cinemakaran Review Alby, the son of a priest is a struggling associate director cum aspiring filmmaker. His family doesn’t appreciate his vocation but Sera, his wife, believes in his potential. A hasty and thoughtless act, driven by financial constraints, lands the young man in hot water out of the blue. Review: Going by the title and the released songs of ‘Oru Cinemakaran,’ you might tend to think that the movie is all about how a random dude struggles his way ahead to finally sit on the director’s chair, with everything falling into place just right. However, the movie isn’t rolling out just his professional journey, but throws in a major chunk of inadvertent incidents from his personal life as well. Alby (Vineeth Sreenivasan), an aspiring filmmaker is working hard to launch himself in Malayalam as a director. His girlfriend-turned-wife Sera (Rajisha) backs him to no end, and Alby tries his best not to sadden her. The lack of money at a certain juncture puts Alby in an inappropriate, unfamiliar situation and things spiral out of his hands. Even before the opening credits finish rolling, Oru Cinemakaran impresses you with some winsome comedy, beautiful songs and decent acting. The scenes involving the numerous priests, get together of families and the chit chat of the couple in love are all delightful and have some quality humour as well. Rajisha lights up the screen with her natural reactions and instinctive expressions. Renji Panicker awesomely fits into the mould of the ‘Cinemakaran’s’ priest dad. The presence of Harish Kanaran, Noby and Sasi Kalinga add to the liveliness of the narrative in many parts. You also feel an inherent sincerity about the movie, which deserves appreciation. The first half is definitely a wonderful watch especially for those looking for a thorough entertainer. The movie is more of a thriller post intermission and does have its intriguing moments, but is no match to the pre-interval portion. Things get slow at certain junctures and even the inclusion of certain scenes, like that of phone snatching and subsequent chase, don’t seem necessary. The flirtations of the police officer don’t add to the humour or drama of the narrative. You also end up wondering towards the second half whether it is actually the story of a ‘Cinemakaran’; the protagonist’s film connection seems to have happened just by accident in the overall story. Yes, the makers finally tie it all together, but not quite convincingly. Oru Cinemakaran may not stir you up but is entertaining enough, if you approach it without expecting a story of a common man going on to be a director. Watch it for the humour, the music and its relatable sequences of everyday fun.

Jagannadham or DJ Review Movie director: Harish Shankar Cast: Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde, Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh,....... When we buy a ticket for an Allu Arjun film, we known what we sign up for a popcorn entertainer, nothing more or nothing less. And the DJ team had promised that the ‘audience will have a blast’ in the theatre. A misfit, rebellious teenager from the Brahmin community, Duvvada Jagannadham, guns down five goons who try to kill an honest cop at a deserted public place. Without thinking twice, the same kid empties the remaining bullets into a rape accused at the police station from the same gun that he used to kill five bad people earlier that day. It was just the beginning of a series of killings that were about to follow. The honest cop, played by Murali Sharma, sees a warrior in the boy and lets him continue the killings with impunity to uphold justice and punish the wrongdoers so that he can sleep peacefully at night. About 15 minutes into the film, we are introduced to now adult Duvvada Jagannadham (played by Allu Arjun) one of the most loved youngsters in his community. A Brahmin youngster, who has mastered the Vedas and mantras, takes care of his family and its business that is catering services, respects elder, abides by the law (in the day) and keep preaching the right messages to the civil society. He is the ideal son and citizen when he is around his family members. When he steps away, his body and language completely change and he goes by the name DJ, a legend of sorts among the criminals. Any criminal who has the misfortune to see in person means that he has lived his last day on the earth. In simple words, he is a vigilante. But, director Harish Shankar, who has also written the film, has failed to give a solid reason to justify what drives a teenager to kill criminals in cold blood and continue doing so for years. It seems like he overlooked the necessity of logic while writing this film, hoping that the fans would accept Allu Arjun anyway and without questioning. DJ managed to capture the interest of the audience when the filmmakers released the teaser showing Allu in a non-glamorous avatar as a Brahmin boy. And the director has managed to milk that role in the film to the hilt to enthrall the audience. In a scene, DJ introduces himself to a group of goons, before killing them in style as the most interesting and entertaining character. But, actually, it is his Duvvada Jagannadham character that keeps the audience engaged throughout the film. His mannerism and dialogues draw some genuine laughs from the audience. When it comes to DJ, let’s say we have seen Allu playing that role in many films under various names in the past. Duvvada Jagannadham’s role is rather the only surprise in this regular run-of-the-mill commercial entertainer. Harish, meanwhile, has packed some punch into the screenplay of the film keeping hard-core Allu Arjun fans in mind. Allu’s performance is the mainstay. While we expected Vennela Kishore to deliver some rib-tickling comedy, his character and jokes fall flat. Allu excels in the comedy in the film too. It looks like the director has poured all the interesting ideas into one character and made DJ alias Duvvada Jagannadham Pooja Hegde has convincingly done the given job that is to look stunning in every frame of the film. Especially, she looks ravishing in all the song sequences. Rao Ramesh’s character that initially comes across as a clever antagonist, has been compromised just to benefit the DJ character. No other performances stand out in the film except Allu Arjun’s. It is a commercial entertainer made by the book and it works to some extent. And yes, composer Devi Sri Prasad’s music is a big plus and dance choreography is just the icing on the cake. In simple words DJ should be an entertainer for Allu Arjun fans & youths.

Director Vijay is known for conquering the audiences heart with basic human goodness and purity of love in his films. These are formulas he’s employed to great success in previous films. In Vanamagan, Vijay has perfectly added all the necessary commercial ingredients and at the same time, he makes sure that his classy touch and screenplay nuances are perfect. Kavya (Sayyeshaa) is a extremely rich girl who lives in the materialistic world that she does not care about anyone's emotions and need. She is a poor little tycoon whose parents passed away in an accident and is being brought up by her guardian and father's friend (Prakash Raj), who looks after her business empire. When Kavya visits a deep forest area near Andaman and Nicobar to celebrate New Year party, her car hits a tribal (Jayam Ravi). But her friends run away from the new found tribal, Kavya cares for him, she even names him Vaasi! Slowly, Vaasi gets adapted to the urban world but he also subtly teaches the importance of human relationships and love to Kavya. But things turn upside down when her guardian tries to get her married to his son (Varun). When Varun forces Kavya to marry him in a fit of animal rage, Vaasi beats him to pulp. The result is police arrest and they send Vaasi back to Andamans. When Kavya goes in search of Vaasi, she comes to know that the cops and her guardian destroyed several tribal people to occupy their land. The rest of the film is all about how Kavya gives back the land to the tribal people and saves Vaasi from her powerful uncle. On the downside, Vanamagan has plenty of logical loopholes and a familiar plot but what makes the film interesting is the purity of love that exists between Jayam Ravi and Sayyeshaa. Make no mistake, Jayam Ravi is the sole draw of this film, and he works hard for his top billing. The actor is in terrific form turning on his infectious charm. Kudos to Ravi for understanding the importance of the script, underplaying his part and allowing the heroine to steal the show. But at the end, he stands tall for his outstanding performance. Sayyeshaa is a promising find, dances like a dream and has the screen presence. Her lip sync is flawless and her expressions are real for a debutante. Thambi Ramaiah is another big plus of Vanamagan, his comic one liners work while Prakash Raj and Varun are just okay. Sam Paul is impressive as police officer. Though the first half of the film moves at rapid pace, there is a lag in the flash back and pre-climax stunt, which goes over the top but Vijay compensates with the emotional quocient in the end.The basic thread of the film is taken from Hollywood film George Of The Jungle and theme is that of Avatar. Technically, Vanamagan is brilliant, thanks to the stellar cinematography of Thirru, who captures both the urban and forest life with great elan. Of late, Vanamagan is easily one of the best albums of Harris Jayaraj and songs have been beautifully picturised. The VFX portion involving the tiger has also been pulled off well by the team and it deserves special applause. Ravi's make up by National award winner Pattanam Rasheed is top notch. Vanamagan has its own flaws but it's sure to entertain kids and family audiences. In short, the film is an enjoyable romantic entertainer.

Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan Review AAA is a two-part romantic-comedy film, written and directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Simbu (STR) is the best thing in the movie as he is seen portraying triple role. The film is a planned two part story and as the film’s name portray the three characters of Simbu. The striking thing about the film is Adhik’s writing. Be it dialogues, different characters or screenplay, the director has shown a good clarity in his work. Besides him, STR and Yuvan Shankar Raja becomes the second part while the lead actresses Shriya Saran and Tamannah makes it the complete pack for the film. The director also takes the cliches of Tamil cinema and put them to a good use. STR is full of energy, and his stellar screen presence is enjoyable, especially in the Madura Michael character. VTV Ganesh and Motta Rajendran’s characters are a laugh riot. Tamannaah and Shriya Saran’s characters were very interesting to watch and we hope to see more of them throughout the movie. The story starts in Dubai, where a detective (Kasturi) is on a mission to nab a notorious criminal. Next we are shown an old man (Mahat), who starts narrating the story of his friend and the stuff that happened in the latter’s life three decades ago. Cut to Madurai, Michael (Simbu), a paid thug, is shown escaping the jail in style. He falls in love with Selvi (Shriya Saran), an extremely beautiful girl. Michael tries to woo her in all possible ways, even at the cost of her dad’s (YG Mahendra) life. Eventually, he succeeds in making her fall in love with him. The story then moves to Chennai, where we come across Ashwin thatha (Simbu, again). Aswin is obviously the aged man of 50 who is hoping to meet the woman of his dreams. He is very rich and has VTV Ganesh and Rajendran as his aides. After ‘auditioning’ a few ladies, a disappointed Ashwin then falls in love with Ramya (Tamannaah), a much younger girl. The cinematography by Krishnan Vasant was impressive, the frames of the rural festival was captured in a good way. The music by Yuvan Shankar Raja was okay, the songs were impressive and BGM was also nice and matched the emotions of the scenes. The editing of the movie was precise and sharp, and the edits were found to be okay especially in the actions cuts. Overall as a movie which was exclusively for fans, Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan stands out and while Ashwin Thatha’s dialogues reminds us of Rajnikanth, Madhura Michael reminds us of T Rajendar.
