This one's long post! I put it under the cut!

Alex: In some regard, he still views himself as a teenager, so upon learning that the farmer was pregnant he had a moment of panic. Okay, it was more than just a moment. "What are we going to do? My grandma's going to be so disappointed!" He'd say, pacing back a forth. The farmer would just shake their head. "Alex, we're married. I don't think it'll be much of a scandal". It took some time to really register that he was going to be a father, but when it finally clicked a few weeks in, he begins to get excited. He takes initiative on prepping the nursery and goes above and beyond with helping on the farm. At his core, he's determined to be that father he never had; the one that every kid deserves.

Elliott: He is extremely attentive, almost excessively. Every need, every craving, every appointment or exam, he's there without hesitation. The farmer never has to doubt whether or not he'll be there, because he was fully involved from the moment they told him they were expecting. It had always been a dream of his to be a father, and it had finally come to fruition. So he was there for every moment of the pregnancy, good and bad. And the moment he held that baby for the first time? No painting or song or any piece of art was ever as beautiful as that moment.

Harvey: Being a doctor, Harvey was completely ready, medically speaking. However, no amount of medical school or field work could've prepared him for the intense emotions that overcame him the moment he found out he was going to be a father. Pure joy flooded over him, but also crippling worry. What if he panicked during the delivery? What if something went wrong? How could he live with himself if something did go wrong and he wasn't able to help? The farmer, while worried to a lesser degree, became the rock he needed to be both an attentive doctor and a caring husband. And, of course, he excelled at both. 

Sam: Poor Sam didn't see this one coming. The pregnancy was a surprise, and the farmer was overjoyed, but Sam had no idea how to react at first. Of course he was ecstatic; he'd often daydream of being a father. Taking care of Vincent all those years had given him a real paternal touch. But he was also nervous. What would his mom say? Would his dad be disappointed in him? Would he grow apart from his friends? The situation took some getting used to, but after he overcame the initial shock he let the excitement take over. He went to every single checkup with the farmer and bought LOADS of baby things to prepare the nursery. And you believe he absolutely spoils that baby. 

Sebastian: In his younger years, Sebastian fully believed he never wanted to be a father. He didn't think he was cut out for it. But after meeting the farmer, the idea began to grow on him. He liked the idea of being a stay-at-home dad on the farm. So when the farmer told him the news, he immediately knew he was ready to fall right into the role. Not having his own dad around (and the coldness he received from Demetrius all his life) made him dead-set on being the most attentive and loving man he could be. For both the baby and the farmer.

Shane: Shane had convinced himself that he'd never get that chance to be a father, with the exception of Jas of course, and he'd come to terms with that long ago. It was only after recovery and the blooming relationship with the farmer that he dared to imagine the possibility of a child of his own. When the time came that the farmer told him of their pregnancy, they were worried that he wouldn't react well. Though he'd come a long way in his recovery, he was still fragile. But the farmer wouldn't have guessed that he'd bury his head in his hands and become choked up. "Shane?" They'd ask carefully, worried he was going to break down. But he just shakes his head, looks up at the farmer, and says "I'm so happy".

Absolutely! I ended up with a lot of ideas, so this is a longer one :)

- When Sebastian realizes he has a crush on the farmer, it hits him like a ton of bricks

- The more he thought about it, he'd never really had a crush before, and he didn't really know what to do about it

- His first instinct was to shut her out and push it all down. But how could he when she always greeted him with that beautiful, beaming smile?

- No, he couldn't just ignore it. He had to do or say something to her!

- He tried approaching Sam and Abigail for advice, but they weren't much help. He ended up turning to Maru for guidance, in spite of himself

- Maru suggested he just swallow his pride and ask her to hang out sometime

- So he did. He caught her one night at the saloon and asked to get her alone

- He was a blushing mess, but he asked if she wanted to go for a walk with him

- It was a rainy night, so they walked together to the beach. When he noticed her trying to brush the raindrops off her face, he offered her his sweatshirt

- It took a long time to get the words out, but as they stood together on the docks he was able to get the words out

- "I really like you. I'd really like to be your boyfriend, if, y'know... you're okay with that"

- The farmer chuckles as Sebastian hides his face in embarrassment

- "Of course I'm okay with that. I'd like that a lot"

- From then on, Sebastian goes out of his way to leave the house more often, hoping to catch the farmer while she's running around town

- He walks her home from the saloon every Friday night (despite the teasing from Sam and Abigail)

- And every time it rains, he invites the farmer to walk down to the beach and sit on the docks with him

- That spot on the docks? That's their spot 💓

Sam: I just know this guy is a sucker when it comes to that kind of thing. Especially for kids toys! He'll say it's for Vincent but we all know he's buying those remote control helicopters and color-changing playdoh or whatever for himself.

Elliott: This one's a hot take, but I can imagine him a few drinks in, watching TV at the saloon and seeing a commercial for some "magic" cleaning supply or something, and him telling Leah "I've GOT to try that" and immediately ordering it over the phone.

- First of all, the farmer's softness is what attracted Abigail to her in the first place. While she was still rebellious and (dare I say) a bit edgy, it was refreshing to have the farmer's comfortable warmth around her

- Before they got together, Abigail was crushing HARD 

- And the poor farmer was so oblivious. She just thought Abigail was friendly and outgoing, and she returned the friendliness eagerly

- Abigail would walk her home from the saloon on Friday nights, and she'd always ask about her adventures in the mines, and the farmer never realized how in deep she was

- It only clicked after Abigail approached her while she was fishing at the lake one evening and said "I really like you. A lot" 

- The farmer was blushing head to toe, which made Abigail's heart beat a mile a minute

- She hadn't really thought about it until that moment, but she felt the same way about Abigail

- From then on, there was no keeping Abigail away. She wanted to be by her girlfriend any chance she got

- Also, Abigail is REALLY protective

- Not just when it comes to actual danger (mines, exhaustion, etc.) but also socially. She has no problem telling someone off if they make a snarky comment at the farmer

- Even before they move in together, Abigail spends nearly half her nights at the farm. She's just happy to be with her farmer

- She lets the farmer teach her how to care for her crops

- Her favorite thing? How tender the farmer is

- She adores the soft way that she speaks to her animals and the loving way she cares for her crops

- It really balances out the carelessness that Abigail tends to have in life, and she believes that being with the farmer is the best thing that could've happened to her

Here are some hcs for the bachelorettes!

Abigail: Abigail's no stranger to feeling insecure. She'll try to hide it, she really will, but she can't help but ask "Do you still love me?" every other night. The farmer will just chuckle and reply "Of course I do. Do you still love me?". To which Abigail would respond with a kiss and say "Duh". It's nice knowing that you're on the same page with her and knowing that insecurities are never an obstacle between you. If anything, it brings you closer together.

Emily: She isn't especially vocal with her feelings; she prefers to let actions speak for themselves. But when your love language is words of affirmation, it's easy to get in your head. Emily is very intuitive and knows when you're feeling insecure, and she steps right up to shower you in love and attention without you even having to say anything. For her, it's easy to forget that actions don't always speak louder than words, but she's always more than willing to give you the reassurance you need. Because you deserve to hear it.

Haley: She used to eat insecure people for breakfast. She's never been one to be insecure... Until you. Wondering if she even deserved you, worried you secretly resent her for how rude she'd been when you first met. So when you're feeling insecure, she's baffled by it. How could you feel insecure when you're so amazing? But you tell her how you feel and she listens intently, and then she understands. Because she feels the same way at times. She tells you that you never have anything to worry about, that she adores you above anything else, and that you're always welcome to talk to her about it, so long as she can do the same.

Leah: Leah does a really good job at expressing her feelings for you, but sometimes you feel insecure anyway. And that's okay! Because she takes it as a queue to go all out for you! Maybe paint you something special or plan a sweet date together. She sees it as a challenge, and you know what? She always wins. 

Maru: While romantic in her own right, Maru can be a little out of touch. When she gets caught up in her work, she tends to disconnect from everything else. She certainly doesn't mean to. But when she gets distant, it's easy to feel insecure. The best thing to do is just go up to her and say "I need more attention, I've been feeling insecure". Bluntness is key. Immediately she'll snap out of it and being to apologize. She didn't mean to make you feel that way! She wants to do everything she can to make you feel loved!

Penny: For every time you've felt insecure, trust me, Penny's felt that tenfold. She doesn't like show it, but she often worries that you've changed your mind about her or that you're losing feelings for her. While she's determined to keep it inside, it can be coaxed out of her if you start the conversation. If you tell her about your insecurities, she'll eventually tear up and begin to pour out her worries to you. By the end, you both were able to bring up your insecurities and have the other reassure you with softness and love.

Of course! Sorry this one's been sitting in my inbox for so long, anon!

- Shane's very good at making the farmer feel completely comfortable around him. Sure, he was a bit abrasive at first, but once the farmer wore him down, he found a safe place with him.

- From the night on the dock on forward, the farmer made a point of visiting Marnie's farm regularly. If Shane "happened" to be home that day, well that was just a bonus.

- Shane never felt pushed out or uncomfortable around the farmer. Because of this rarity, he became attached quite quickly. They ended up spending a lot of time together.

- After Shane began attending therapy, the farmer would make sure he was open about everything he learned in his sessions. He makes sure to listen and ensure that Shane knows that he's acknowledging his overall improvement.

- In turn, Shane provides the farmer with listening ears whenever he himself is struggling. On the days that he's feeling worse about himself than he should be, Shane is nothing but supportive and comforting.

- They help build each other up, which makes for a very strong bond between them.

- Honestly, at first Harvey is pretty embarrassed to have romantic feelings arise for the farmer. Not because he's ashamed of the farmer, but because he knows that he has to keep himself professional.

- After all, the farmer is one of his patients. Acting on his feelings would be inappropriate.

- The only person he confides in about his feelings is Maru. He thought that talking about it with a friend might help him rationalize it. But much to his surprise, Maru encouraged him to make a move.

- He finally did, one night at the saloon, and offered to buy them a drink. The two ended up talking for quite a while, just enjoying each other's company.

- After that, Harvey began to feel much more confident in his feelings for the farmer. Additionally, the farmer began to make regular trips to the clinic to chat with Harvey, and occasionally brought him gifts.

- He ended up asking them out without even thinking about it. It just slipped out while they were chatting on a slow day at the clinic. The farmer happily accepted, and purchased a bouquet to make it official.

I loved writing these Maru headcanons. She's so underrated.

- Being in a relationship with Maru is like trying to teach a board game to someone without the instructions. She's never had any kind of romantic relationship before and isn't quite how to navigate it.

- Of course, the farmer is patient and more than willing to let her figure out what she needs and wants from their relationship.

- Even if Maru doesn't know the mechanics of a typical couple, she knows without a doubt that she completely adores the farmer.

- One of their favorite activities to do together is sort through the geodes that the farmer brings back from the mines. The ones that can't be donated often get added to Maru's personal collection.

- The farmer isn't as well versed in geology as her girlfriend is, but she'll pocket some of her favorite ones just to keep as decoration.

- Maru is very focused a lot of the time, and can sometimes forget to be affectionate towards the farmer when she's in the zone. The best thing to do is to pry her away from her work and just have a few hours of cuddling in front of a television.

- As much as Maru likes to keep herself busy, a day off with her girlfriend is needed quite regularly. Even if she just helps the farmer with farm work, it's very relaxing to her.

-After moving onto the farm, Alex keeps up his workout routine. Sometimes it involves helping the farmer with laborious work, sometimes it's the classic weightlifts. Either way, he loves showing off for his husband.

- Alex thrives off of the farmer's attention and praise, which makes him somewhat needy at times. Luckily the farmer doesn't mind.

- Evelyn and George have a hard time visiting the farm in their old age, so Alex and the farmer make sure to drop by regularly. It's nice for the farmer to have some family in the valley.

- There are a few times of year that Alex grieves his mother more intensely, especially around her death day, the holidays, and her birthday. Those days, the farmer takes a break from his work to spend some quality time with his husband. It helps to have someone there for him.

- In the fall season, Alex gets very enthusiastic about the salmon in the rivers. Every day he'll ask the farmer if he's planning on fishing that day in hopes of getting a salmon dinner.

- Of course, the farmer humors him and spends some extra time trying to catch salmon to surprise his husband with.

- Haley doesn't let the farmer go a day without feeling completely comfortable with who they are. And if she was to throw compliments at them until they smile? Then so be it.

- She'll even prompt others to do so as well. "Emily, doesn't *farmer* look incredible today?". It's a bit embarrassing, but the farmer lets her do it, because they know it's part of her love language.

- Haley LOVES showing off her partner. She wants everyone in Pelican Town to know they're together. Sometimes it's subtle, like holding hands at the Luau festival. Sometimes it's quite loud, by completely stealing the show together at the Flower Dance.

- Whenever there's a time that the farmer doubts themself when it comes to fashion, Haley jumps right in. If the farmer's not sure what they'd be comfortable with that day, Haley expresses her (many) opinions. And you know what? She's almost always right.

Of course!

- She hates asking for it, but Penny CRAVES attention from the farmer. Her favorite form of affection is unprompted forehead kisses.

- Little things like that are a nice reminder to her that she's doing a good job as a partner.

- Penny often plans surprise picnics or other sweet dates for her girlfriend as a sign of appreciation. She sees how hard the farmer works and wants to acknowledge it.

- The picnics are catered by Penny herself, which means that the farmer often has to work hard to choke it down without hurting her girlfriend's feelings. It gets easier over time.

- When the farmer surprises Penny with dates, it's usually something creative they can do together.

- They borrow some paints from Leah and spend an afternoon attempting to paint landscapes of the farm.

- Every once in a while, the two of them decide to schedule a day off of farm work/tutoring and have a beach day.

- It's a good opportunity to get some sun, draw pictures in the sand, and cool off in the cold water.

- On these days, Penny reminds both herself and the farmer to take a lot of pictures. She wants to remember days like this.

I ended up having a lot of ideas for this one, so it's rather long. Sorry it took me so long to answer, Anon.

- Their friendship is rooted in the fact that they are neighbors and walk past each other several times a day.

- It was especially awkward at first, when they just ignored each other and tried not to make eye contact, as one would do when passing a stranger.

- After a while, Leah would give a half-smile or a nod to acknowledge him, which for a while went ignored. It took quite a while for him to return the gesture.

- Shane ended up being one of Leah's first real acquaintances in Pelican Town, giving her someone to make small talk with as holiday events, and occasionally even at the saloon.

- The one thing they have in common more than anything is their appreciation for animals. Shane would introduce Leah to his chickens, Leah would point out wildlife to him. It's one of their few common interests.

- As Shane's alcoholism and depression became more consuming, he stopped reaching out to her. He began to stand alone at the saloon instead of sitting at her favorite table, and he rarely acknowledged her when they passed each other in town.

- When Elliott moved into Pelican Town, Leah had a new friend to fill the spot where Shane removed himself from, and it distanced them even further.

- Only after Shane began seeking help and began a new, happier lifestyle did he begin to reach back out to Leah, who had been keeping her distance respectfully until then.

- After a while, he began to spend more time chatting with her and Elliott at the saloon instead of standing miserably alone, and he was often invited to spend time sitting with her on the dock while she sketched.

Love your blog: but what do you think about Elliott being Lewis’s child? Like, Lewis abandoning Elliott and his mother for being the mayor. Maybe because Elliott’s mom(I like to call her Maybelle) had a low immune system so she never went out much just in case?? And Lewis wanted to be the mayor so bye bye kid and possible gf/wife

Such an interesting concept!

I'd imagine that after Lewis left Maybelle and Elliott, that she decided to move to Zuzu City, mostly because there's better doctors/medical treatment there, but also because she needs to put some distance between them and the town that Lewis abandoned them for. Only after Maybelle had passed and Elliott was grown up, did he decide to leave the city and find a small, tight-knit town where he can channel some inspiration for his writing. Thus finding his way back to Pelican Town.
