god i fucking loaaaathe rowling and some elements of hp so much. they’ve tainted the decades-long love i had for hp and now i can’t interact with it in any way without feeling disgusted with myself.

at the same time, though, i really miss rp and specifically my grumpy asshole son zacharias smith. atp he’s more my oc than he is rowling’s character because i can guarantee that i’ve thought of him so much more during the past decade of my life where i rp’ed him on and off than rowling ever has.

obviously the hurt she’s doing to trans people is more important than my silly little personal feelings, but it just SUCKS. i miss zach and i miss bartyreg and i miss engaging with hprp.

since some personal things happened i've lost my muse for this blog and my fics entirely. i can't lie, it's also been massively demotivating to only have received a single comment on my barty x reg fic. kudos are nice and all, but they don't mean much. a comment really makes an author's day and inspires them to keep going.

ok i just want to share with you a Zacharias Smith headcanons because he is probably my favourite minor character in HP even though all of the minor characters are basically my life

but anyway

you know how the last we see of him in the series is pushing past first-years to get out of Hogwarts before the battle? ok so my headcanon is that he was (a) shit-scared and (b) did not want to fight at all so he got the fuck out of there, but then of course he was the first one in the Hog’s Head. so when all the teachers have left to battle and he’s in the Hog’s Head with all these kids, they all sort of latch onto him because he’s tall and he looks like he might be in charge. and he’s basically like “do not touch me no not even on the shoulder” but they all sort of press him for information and stuff and so he ends up reluctantly herding all of these children.

so then after the battle is over Ginny somehow finds him in the Hog’s Head and since she has a history of animosity with him she starts shaming him for being a coward in that very Gryffindor way. but then all these kids are like “no! omg!!! he helped us and looked after us!” and Zacharias is like “no. no I didn’t. stop that.” and they’re like “awww he’s just being modest, really he was so helpful~~~” and so everyone becomes convinced that he was a total hero even though he didn’t take part in the fight. and he’s still a little shit to everyone but they’re like “ah it’s ok he’s a War Hero”. all was well.

he asked me about nott's father when i first arrived. they used to be old friends, apparently, but when he heard he'd been caught at the ministry he didn't look happy, and nott didn't get an invitation, did he?
