She/They šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø This sideblog was originally for some fandom obsessions I assumed would be brief, but then I got really into DP x DC so that’s stuck around. Other more temporary fandoms will appear too though.šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøAny fic prompts I make are completely free for anyone to use! But if you do, please tag me somehow - I’d love to see it!šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøAlso, feel free to suggest prompts/etc in the askbox! No guarantee I’ll respond, but I’m open to ideas! Or just random questions are cool too! šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøMy main blog is @the-lesser-dog123, though I make fewer original posts there and it’s less focused. Also warning that there may be some slight nsfw stuff there occasionally (it’s not a main focus but I *am* over 18).

DPxDC Prompt #20
Danny and Tim are married. (Sacrificial Bride, Meddling Ancients, Tax Benefits, etc.; exact details are dealer's choice.)
The Bats do not know Tim is married. They find because Tim gets grievously injured. High on pain, blood loss, and/or the good drugs; he turns to the nearest Bat and slurs out, "Don't tell my husband."

Short DPXDC Prompts #569 (nice)
If Tucker knew that this train was going to be held hostage for one of Riddlers schemes he would have taken the bus instead.
One participant of the train had to solve the Riddlers puzzles before they would meet some flavor of gruesome end. The Bats were working on establishing a connection to the transit captives to help with the clues but so far no dice.
This’ll be easy. What could go wrong?
Tucker volunteers to solve the Riddlers puzzles.

While in college, Danny meets a boy named Nicholas Scratch, whom he quickly comes to consider a friend due to their shared pursuit of astronomy.
The friendship wasn’t to last though, as not too long later Scratch’s life seemed to rapidly undergo several major changes and he completely dropped off Danny’s radar.
Then a few years later, Danny happened to wonder what became of his onetime friend, and decided to try to track him down.
And needless to say, he was shocked to find that the once-unpopular boy was now a famous rockstar and religious leader. Especially once he started to notice some oddities in how easily the man seemed to sway people to his side.
Did he just follow in his parents’ footsteps and get his own Vlad equivalent?

Not Quite his Twin
Danny Fenton is not Danyal al Ghul. They’d wanted him to be, but he wasn’t.
He still remembers when he first woke up, his whole body feeling raw and ill-fitted. Even his mind felt wrong, his memories not quite his own.
Which, he supposes, they weren’t.
Because Danyal is still dead. Executed on the orders of the Demon’s Head for failing to live up to his twin.
But the spurned heir would make a perfect figurehead to build legitimacy for a coup, so a splinter sect of the League stole away some of his remains before they could be disposed of. They may not have had permission to access the Lazarus Pits, but they could still turn to some more unorthodox methods of attempting resurrection. A combination of cloning, a few stolen and processed samples of Lazarus Water, and pieces of necromantic rituals.
And it almost worked.
Almost.
The body they constructed did indeed come to life, and clearly possessed at least some of Danyal’s memories, but it wasn’t him. The memories were locked behind a barrier, present in abstract but not felt. This thing they created could never pass for the deceased heir, and thus could never be the figurehead they wanted. So they decided to dispose of him.
But the clone’s memories had shown him this sort of betrayal before, and he did still have some of the original’s skills. He struck first, killing several of their agents and managing to escape the lab.
He had no idea what to do next, but at least he was free. Free to form his own life, to become someone unique rather than just not-quite-Danyal.

I noticed that a lot of people missed a small reference WB made about Jack Slash
So Jack Slash is obviously and purposely a Joker reference, meant to play into the fact that despite just being a homicidal clown, Joker is treated as a big bad player in the cape game (I personally find that incredibly dumb moment of him being so ā€œcrazyā€ that he is immune to Martian Manhunter mind powers to be the most memorable).
In Jack’s case, despite having a generally mid power (can project the edge of his blades as far as he can see), the fact that his Shard can boss other Shards around means that he’s always on top and cannot be defeated by Parahumans in a fight, so they need to use normal humans to defeat him.
The Joker and Jack Slash stuff is all well and good… until you remember there are 2 Jack Slashes.
Some of you might know what I mean, but for those who don’t, Eden’s/Contessa’s Interlude gave us an alternate timeline that shows us a heroic Jack Slash:
Tumblr media
- Interlude 29 Worm
The Black Knight is Jack Slash, a member of the Wardens.
Jack Slash is a Dark Knight. A caped crusader with peak human skills that lets him hang with the big leagues.
He’s fucking Batman.

I entered DP x DC from the DP side, but i see all this stuff in fics I'd love to know more about so I'm looking for recommendations of canon content to consume (preferably specific comic issues/books versus a run, a movie, or individual episode because i know the universe is vast but my time is limited) about any of the following:
Jason's resurrection and re intro to Gotham
Jason beating up Tim
Dick's & Bruce's reaction to Jason's death
Something about Bruce kicking Dick out because he was a ward but not adopted?
Dick becoming Nightwing
Tim becoming Robin
Tim's relationship with his parents
Tim's beef with Ra's
Tim getting Bruce back from the time stream?
How the LoA operates. How does it use the pits? What's the culture? What's this about Ra's switching bodies?
Talia & Bruce's relationship
Steph as Robin
Jason's bro Danny
Cass, like anything. Is she Orphan? Black bat? How did she join the bats?
Babs becoming Oracle
What's up on the no metas in gotham thing?
Alfred's death
JLD - what type of missions do they do? Who are all the members?
John Constantine - what has he done to his soul?
Damian's clones
How Harley and Pamela got together
Hal. I have only watched one JL media the green lantern was John Stewart. Who is this other guy?
JL's relationship with world governments
I can always absorb things via fic and wikis, but it's nice to experience the actual story to pick up on small things and form my own opinion.

Short DPXDC Prompts #549
Bruce has fistfought death before. He’s clung to life in some of the most hopeless situations. And whenever he’s terrified that he might not make it to see another day, a miracle of sorts happens and he makes it out alive. Little does he know that a certain time-wielding specter is ensuring his safety.

…hub, well, I found exactly one on AO3.
I guess I kinda expected more, though I’m not that surprised. Definitely didn’t expect it to be a huge thing.
I wonder anyone has ever made a crossover between Danny Phantom and The Adventure Zone: Amnesty. I feel like that could be something interesting.
Amity Park and Kepler, two towns both strongly connected with a supernatural otherworld.

Forgot to post this girlie too. Tuft, a young Far Frozen yeti. She's something of a "human expert", mentoring under an elder Yeti named Granny Hoarfrost. She has a collection of human "artifacts" with everything ranging from spoons, to hats, to broken furniture, to beat-up old gaming consoles.

DP x DC Prompt [29]
Danny flees to Metropolis after a bad reveal and finds that its actually really easy to disappear in the gigantic city.
The only pushback (if you can call it that) is that he gets a personal visit from Marilyn Moonlight on her spectral horse and she tells him he's allowed to stay as long as he doesn't cause any trouble.
The last thing he wants is a fight with a city spirit...
He does odd jobs here and there, wanders around, watches the supers handle the threats.
It's not how he figured his life would go but it's alright, he's managing.
During one of his wanderings he overhears an argument at the back of a cafe.
It turns out that a sound and lights guy is a no-show and the metal band that's supposed to perform that night is scrambling to find a replacement.
Danny volunteers if they are willing to show him the setup, he figures he's technical enough, he can figure it out. (And he might use some of his ghost abilities to make things work, but that's besides the point).
This is how he meets their lead singer, one Siobhan McDougal. Its only later that he learns she's also known as the Silver Banshee.
It explains why he feels comfortable around her, she's nice and he absolutely doesn’t have an issue with her ghostly sensibilities.
She's the one to hire Danny to be their sound and lights guy permanently.
Danny also helps with marketing and merch down the line.
Everything is fine until one night there is a commotion at the venue and Danny goes ghost to help handle the situation.
Afterwards Siobhan as Banshee stares at Danny, who stares back, and they kinda just float and look and Danny starts to go gradually invisible when he's suddenly grabbed and held up and Siobhan is positively beaming at him.
"You're like me!"
"Uhm..."
"Boy Banshee"
"Technically, men can't be-"
"So adorable~"
Next thing he knows she holds him close. And well, that's really nice, just happy happy spectral vibes all around and Danny can't help but bask in it and would it really be so bad?
She's definitely squeezing the air out of him though, it's a good thing he doesn't need to breathe in that form.
After that he works hard at altering his ghost appearance a little to make it look like he has matching skull face paint going on when he transforms.
It helps with maintaining his identity too somehow...
Despite the fact that he's still using the exact same skillset, somehow, for some reason, nobody catches on that Phantom and Boy Banshee are incredibly similar.

Sure other crossover stuff sometimes does that too, but DPxDC
is often highly entrenched in fanon and strongly divorced from the individual source materials, meaning that fans of the non-crossover stuff are more likely to not want to see it (particularly on the DC side of things)
is a large community, meaning there’s a far larger number of posts to sift through.
Sure you can filter tags, but that still relies on people to have tagged it properly! Which considering the sheer number of different tags used in the community, isn’t even guaranteed unless you block a huge number of tags.
And sometimes you don’t want to always avoid a tag (e.g. I like DPxDC so wouldn’t want to wholly block it, but I’d also like to be able to look at the purely individual sides too), which means you’d have to constantly add and remove all those tags from your filter list just to navigate it.
Just asking people to not add the individual fandom tags feels like a pretty low bar to me for something that could significantly improve the experience for lots of people.
Like seriously, what does it cost us? Literally nothing!!
you ever have fandom drama go down with literally all the big blogs for one fandom that you love so much, and then all the blogs you follow just start throwing tomato's at each other?
yeah thats pretty much me with the danny phantom x dc crossover tag argument thing rn
also im of the opinion that, this is kinda always how crossovers worked? you tag it with both fandoms it includes? and the tag thing is not that bad? or atleast ive had not that much trouble finding only solely danny phantom content
and i mean, danny phantom is an old fandom objectively, the only new content being some comic books which alot of people didnt read because they didnt wanna or couldnt spend money on it
it makes sense that even alot of old fans would get into dp x dc, and that because dc is such a big and active fandom in comparison, that a lot of dc fans would get into the crossovers, and become new danny phantom fans via the crossovers
but ik alot of people are arguing that they shouldnt be, because they think that dc fans have never even seen danny phantom because of small details they get wrong or mix up, which is like a whole nother "if youre in this fandom you have to know everything about the media or youre not a real fan" shaped problem that I dont care for at all
the truth is most of them probably are just going off of what they remember from their childhoods because ALOT of people watched danny phantom as a kid, and just havent had time to rewatch it fully, so yeah, theyre gonna not remember some things and have to fill in the blanks themselves or go off of what other fans say
and as far as im aware anyways, this isnt really just a dc and dp thing? Im in the miraculous ladybug fandom and fic wise alot of it is now danny phantom or dc crossovers, but ive heard no complaints and given no complaints (despite not liking them myself) because thats mainly on ao3 and you can just block it
the point im going to make is actually, that alot of the fandom on tumblr is reliant on ao3 in the first place, and like on ao3 this definitely isnt a problem, because you can block a tag easily and most people on ao3 know better then to not tag something that they have in a fic
thing is? people are used to that. it is considered heavily heavily impolite on ao3 to not tag a fandom or thing you have in the fic.
and most tumblr users are or started as ao3 users. its pretty much the same etiquette on here.
but somehow when you go on tumblr with specifically danny phantom fans? somehow people are offended by it?
thing is, same as on ao3, on tumblr you can block a tag and filter.
but lets say you are blocking that and still seeing dc crossover stuff like so many people are complaing
then isnt the problem logically that alot of these people just arent tagging the dc stuff properly then? because i imagine thats what you should be trying to block so.... why be mad that theyre tagging danny phantom when thats one of the correct tags to be using? so that anyone who wants to see crossovers plus regular content can?
like im just saying thats the logic i follow
and thats not me tryna say go and blame em for that either, im just saying youre kinda angry about something that its okay to be mad about, but you have put yourself in the wrong because your mad about the wrong thing anyways.
also even if youre mad about it, maybe stop bullying and critizing literally anyone who's writing dc and dp? like encouraging people to write what they like is the name of the game, you guys know that right?
you know you can just nicely comment without being passive aggressive or rude, and tell them that they should tag their posts a little better? and not take your anger out on them because they personally obviously dont sway the whole fandom by themselves? do you know that?
you also dont have to make big ol rant posts about how much you hate dp x dc writers for writing a crossover, that will hurt those writers feelings, and that you know will make all your followers mad at all those innocent writers also, right? you know that you don't have to and shouldn't be making posts like that right?

Y'all ever think about the way video game bosses are designed to lose? How the bombastic soundtracks, the impressive displays of villainy, the teeth-rattling power of their attacks, are at once engineered not just to sell you on how unfathomably strong and vile they are, but also to make the player's inevitable victory all the sweeter?
Viewed this way, a boss battle is more like a choreographed dance - they call, you respond and counter-call. The trick is to learn the steps - once you know where to move, when to strike, when to defend and how to best allocate your resources, victory is not just achievable but actually almost impossible to avoid. You cannot help but recite the winning plays, over and again, because that is what the dance demands of you both - and is there not a savage sort of beauty in such a thing?
Is it any wonder then that we look back on these bosses so fondly, almost as if they were old friends? We danced together once, and oh what fun we had while doing it!

Tim is in love with Danny. The Danny that works under him. Only problem is Danny doesn’t want to date. So Tim has to get creative.
He adds things onto Danny’s pile. Like a marriage certificate that Danny was so close to accidentally signing. Or contracts with a hidden agreement to go on a few dates with him.
Danny somehow gets around everything. Tim’s family is getting worried
