"from my point of view the Jedi are evil"
And the thing that really gets me is that Anakin knows that Palpatine is evil, he knows that what he doing is wrong and selfish
But Anakin became a Jedi to protect his loved ones and instead found himself as a weapon in an endless war He had to watch so many die or be alienated or enslaved bc of the Jedi From his point of view the Jedi are also wrong and selfish
From his point of view the Jedi are evil
So what does it matter if you choose one evil or another
There is the one who ostracized him— put him so high on a pedestal that he could never live up to it— and threatened him with excommunication if he tried to live in any way but how they decided is the right way
Or there is the one that listened eagerly to his despair and whispered words of comfort and temptation back at him
Who did they think he would choose?

It still pains me deeply that Eternal Faith might never be released bc in my heart I know it was so good and from the rumors it was basically finished
Someone who worked on it needs to leak it asap like we won't tell pink promise

I love this and also time travel fix it where this happens bc Luke Leia and Han travel back in time and they know no one would believe them about palps being a sith Lord so they literally start the rumor that he is not mentally sound which erodes the Jedi's and the republics trust in him much faster than even they anticipated
(call that the Biden effect but now everything he does is picked apart relentlessly)
I imagine it would be Leia's idea we don't make her and Palpatine go tete a tete on political mind games enough in these types of fics (unless I haven't read the right ones at which point I'm always here for fic recs)
rots crack/fix-it au where somebody in the senate spread a rumour that palpatine was senile but anakin takes it very seriously. they’re at the opera and palpatine is all like “my boy, have i ever told you the tale of darth plagueis the wise?” preparing to be all evil but anakin is like “i don’t believe you have, your excellency” y’know in that tone that people speak ~encouragingly~ to kids and old people? palpatine is like ‘,:| not thinking too hard on it and continues his tale, but by the end anakin is like “wow, that sounds mighty interesting, your excellency. it’s getting late, why don’t we start heading home?” and palpatine’s evil plan is foiled because anakin believed he was an old man not fully in charge of all of his faculties, ending with a vote of no confidence

Idk if there are any fics like this but Star Wars fic where Padme lives but she goes into hiding to escape the empire Of course she ends up involved with rebellion bc Padme is just like that but she is cautious to keep her identity and the existence of the twins hidden
Anakin and Padme both think the other is dead
This leads to a years long cat and mouse game where Vader is hunting what he knows as a rebellion leader (prob with a cool nickname) known for bringing hope through the galaxy with their bold speeches (spread in secret over holorecording and featuring voice changer+mask) rallying thousands to the cause
Vader comes close to finding her many times but she evades him each time Something about it is thrilling and Vader becomes obsessed without being able to acknowledge why (bc he would never be able to accept having the hots for anyone but Padme but something about her teasing/bickering with him over com as she slips out of his grasp time and again or her dedication to her cause or her way with words that makes it clear how deeply she cares it's worse than drugs to him)
Something something Anakin 'slave his whole life' Skywalker and Padme 'never saw a dictator she wouldn't overthrow even if she never can be happy herself' Amidala
Anyway this culminates in Vader taking the twins hostage (just imagine Darth Vader cradling 5 y/o Luke in his arms while little Leia pouts angrily in the corner bc she tried to pull one of padmes guns on the sith but he literally just pulled it out of her hands with the force Luke thought this was very cool and Vader ends up floating random things through the room to amuse him)
Vader is panicking on the inside bc he actually doesn't know what to do with children that young (it's not like he was ordered to kill them) and something in the force sings when he's near them
Anyway Padme finds them eventually and is alarmed+confused to find Vader with a tiny yellow handprint on his mask while Luke is fingerprinting in the corner and Leia is huffing at the two and the man says in a very demanding voice, "what took you so long", like he was just the baby sitter(now dead) staying at work an extra hour bc Padme was late home again
She is not amused
Anyway she is forced to reveal herself and this somehow leads to them overthrowing Palpatine and living happily ever after now that Anakin is in the role he was born for (trophy wife to a famous senator) after going through the justice system of course (he manages to get a reduced sentence given his willingness to work with the new Republic and the fact that there is literally no one powerful enough to defeat him)
#star wars#anidala#anakin skywalker#padme amidala#luke skywalker#princess leia#star wars fic#anyway idk where this came from#was just thinking about them today#Padme gets the most relaxing vacation after this#pretending the characters i like get a happy ending#its for my heart not the plot#i was listening to 'will you fall in love with me again' the other night#maybe thats why my feelings are all over the place

You can tell the new DW ep was jam packed bc I made a long ass post about it and still didn't get to the one thing everyone is complaining about
Tbh I didn't dislike Belinda's story ending as much as everyone else clearly does so I'll just go through each complaint and explain why for each one
1) a woman being happy to have a kid isn't automatically a misogynistic ending
I don't know why ppl keep acting like her entire life was taken over by being a mother Just bc she has a kid now doesn't make everything else disappear ppl are acting like they are glorifying her being forced to be a good little wife and mom in the wish world is somehow the same and just as bad as her having a kid now in the new tl when the problem was always about autonomy and the idea that women are only good for being a wife or mother that does not mean motherhood=bad Belinda chose to keep being Poppy's mom and that doesn't negate her being a strong independent woman or whatever
2) Belinda has always been family oriented
It feels strange to me that ppl act like this is wildly out of character for her Yes, she has made it clear from the beginning that she is no one's object and takes her autonomy very seriously but she has said so many times that her biggest worry is getting home to her family Obviously it was just her parents in the original tl but it expanded to include poppy in the new one The new tl does not negate everything that came before bc the problem was always that she was torn from her home against her will and was forced to travel with a man she didn't know or trust bc he was her only way home
3) Belinda was kind of sidelined in the finale but it was in line with her character
Like I also wish there was more for her to do but she has always been the type of person that focuses on helping the people instead of confronting the threat or pulling crazy stunts like ruby The person who needed the most help was obviously poppy so of course she was there for her I fully believe Belinda would have been the one in that box regardless of whether she was the mom or not It's just unfortunate that the story of the ep was focused so much on defeating the villain and left her with only that much to do
4) The new tl doesn't negate the old tl
I keep seeing ppl saying things like, "oh so she can't want to go home unless there's a kid" and I feel like that's kind of reductive like she already wanted to go home without there being a kid as a reason the whole season That's literally the point She didn't have a kid the whole time It's just that the tl was rewritten to make it so that she always had a kid Both tls were real idk why ppl are acting like this is some big twist implying that she was always trying to get home to her daughter but that isn't the case The doctor broke the tl to allow poppy to exist and we watched the tl change around him to accomodate her
Anyway, I understand why ppl are upset about things like this or Ruby forgiving Conrad but I don't feel angry about those things even if I dislike them mainly because we have so many female characters with different types of endings like Mel and Kate are both older women who seemingly have no plans of having kids and Kate obviously did get angry and seriously maim Conrad The characters are allowed to be different and make choices I don't like or agree with It would be boring otherwise RTD has always written his characters like that with at least one unlikable trait or choice and I have and will always enjoy it
#doctor who#doctor who spoilers#reality war spoilers#belinda chandra#its not a perfect ending#but im not as angry as some people seem to be#and she still might come back later#which i would like#or maybe she can be in one of the earthbound spin offs#her medical skills can always come in handy

Anyway, I wasn't expecting too much from the finale since RTD has always been notoriously bad with endings tbh maybe that's why I'm not nearly as mad as everyone else is (I do have a lot of thoughts though so line break ig)
Also, tbf to him, they did last minute reshoots on this EP and i don't think this has been confirmed anywhere but my theory (as I've seen some others say) is that ncuti decided to move on to other projects bc Disney wanted to wait until after the season ended to decide whether they'll renew putting everyone in limbo so it would make the finale parts weirdness make a bit more sense bc they needed to rush a regeneration scene
Other than that the whole thing was amusing enough there were definitely some strange moments that probably weren't trying to make me laugh but I did laugh so what can you do ('in a way we're all your children' crying bc the Brigadier/the doctor is kind of a funny ship and now it will haunt me) they definitely got a little in over their heads with adding too many plot lines it might have been better if they had more time to flesh the whole thing out or tried to do less and there was def too much exposition which wasted the audience's time and was less interesting to sit through
Conrad's ending was honestly pretty disappointing but tbh I think it was supposed to feel upsetting a la The Voyage Of The Damned ending so we feel disappointed that the wrong wish stayed although I think the build up to it could have been done better and it almost felt like Ruby gave him a happy ending bc the plot called for it rather than bc it was a natural progression of her story I wish she would have called him out more bc I don't think he deserved a pity party after everything obvi she had a gun pointed at her for most of the scene but still
That thing with omega was so rushed esp with the one rani suddenly being eaten I almost wish that they ended the season in a bitter sweet way where they end the Conrad wish-verse but aren't able to stop the rani and omega from reforming Gallifrey and that could become a plot point in the next season (or specials somehow)
the fact that they went as far as bringing omega back but didn't bring up the founding of Gallifrey/the timeless child at all is hilarious tbh also they made omega so uninteresting by basically making him just an idea instead of the interesting/complicated character he was from the beginning would have loved it if he and the rani (as a scientist/engineer duo rebuilding their lost empire) dedicated themselves to trying to restore order to the galaxy and the gods are the ones creating chaos and breaking the rules more than anyone (besides maybe the doctor and the master) and they could take on more of an antihero role instead of being relegated to standard evil blood purists or crazed murderous monster
I think if this finale did anything it's make me realize that what I want is a big status quo change
All of these years building up to changes only to reassert the same status quo is really getting stale and every time they make a status quo change that keeps its something that doesn't change things too drastically or are just cosmetic/real world changes (some of which, like cutting down the episode count, actively make the stories worse in the long run) and I'm honestly getting bored of the god story lines bc they tend to lead towards uninteresting villains bc they all have the same or no motivation like I liked all of them but I'm starting to get burned out on it the only god with a diff motivation and character type was the woman in the story and the engine (which I loved)
and if I'm rlly honest I just miss when doctor who felt like actual sci-fi instead of a fantasy show I love fantasy but tbh sometimes it just doesn't feel like doctor who anymore (although the sci-fi rules have always been loose it was never this bad like this is basically straight up magic plots ATP) it still has episodes when it is really good and fun but I still find myself missing the feeling of watching old doctor who (and obvi that won't be captured by just bringing back a thousand legacy characters)
Basically, I hope RTD will put a little more effort into streamlining/simplifying plots in the future and coming up with concepts (or ways to explain concepts) that don't need to be explained too much and I hope that there is less focus on God's/ a more sci fi feel in the future now that reality broke
#doctor who#doctor who spoilers#reality war spoilers#uhm just realized i didnt toch on the regeneration#im sad ncuti is leaving#and ive been convinced he wouldnt leave so soon#but its ultimately the whole point of the show#im not angry like some are#bc i still feel pretty sure it was a last minute choice#and a part of me is already deluding myself into beleiving that the billie regeneration is a trick#and that he'll come back someday#but tbh i wouldnt mind billie as the doctor#shes a good actress#and the doctor has revisited faces before#whether i think its a good choice or not#ultimately depends on what they do with her#i do think that rtd2 era has focused a bit too much on the past#but i wouldnt mind it as much if they gave each of these things room to breathe#and developed them properly#tennent coming back worked bc they tied it into the doctors over all character arc#which made sense bc 13 was our most closed off doctor yet#but not all returns are at that level#and with the lower ep count there clearly isnt enough time to flesh out everything rtd wants to do

It was bc of what the master did when he killed all of the timelords the second time they said it was bc of a genetic bomb or whatever and obvi since this only happened a few seasons ago it was after the doctor talked about having kids and grand kids
Although it does make the line in the devil's chord more confusing since he implied that he hadn't had Susan's mother yet and he doesn't know who she is (although it would be kind of funny if this led to Jenny coming back and somehow being Susan's mom since the doctor still thinks she's dead)
Anyway Im pretty sure they're planning to continue this story line next season anyway so I'm not too worried about it
"Timelords can't have children" THE FUCK YOU ON ABOUT DOCTOR? YOU SAID YOU HAD CHILDREN SO MANY TIMES. HOW DOES SUSAN? WTF IS YOU ON ABOUT?!

I think it's bc part of the reason the tl didn't work on her was bc of her PTSD esp from the 73 yards tl and her mother abandoning her was part of that which prob woke her up all the way
Why is Ruby always one bad timeline away from being abandoned by her adoptive family? Idk feels kinda fucked up

Ok so there's no way Conrad's part in wish world wasn't a call out for jk Rowling right?
His book about DW literally looks like a HP book, the world he wishes into existence is literally just right wing glorification of the nuclear family, and disabled people are invisible bc Conrad/jkr literally just didn't think of them
#doctor who#doctor who spoilers#i think its a good type of call out for the show to do#bc its specific enough for ppl to recogniE it#but broad enough that it can apply to many different grifters#anyway#it was a fun ep#hope next week sticks the landing#managed to not spoil any of the big twists yet lol#everybody clap

Okay the dw finale is coming up so its unhinged theory time o'clock
Ok so ive decided that the space babies are actually the rani's experiment using time Lord DNA to create living beings and poppy is gonna turn out to be made from the doctors DNA and she will be the doctor's child/ Susan's mother and that's why Susan ends up involved (perhaps needing to make sure her mother grows up and has her so is forced to work with the rani)
My only evidence for this is that the doctor said in The Devil's Chord that he doesn't know who his child is/who Susan's parent is bc of some timey wimey stuff that means he hasn't had them yet random lore to add if it won't come up later tbh
#doctor who spoilers#doctor who#doctor who theory#unhinged theory to feed the ecosystem#ok but listen#hear me out#why would they mention who susans parent is out of the blue#after all these years#susan is already coming back#so why not set the record straight on this mystery#honestly it doesn't pose a big problem for the doctor to randomly have a toddler#bc 14 could raise her#they could even trade off days tbh#my secondary theory is that poppy is the doctor before they fell through the wormhole#this the rani used tinelord dna to create the doctor and timelord dna was based on her experiments#its a bootstrap paradox#would love it bc it would make the doctor less important in the grand scheme of things#it would also make the rani their birthmother#retroactively making him have more in common with river#i.e. being school mates with your parent lol
