Ęá´á´ÉŞÉ´á´
á´Ęęą ę°á´Ę á´ĄĘÉŞá´á´Ęęą <3
it's okay to stray from your story. go write that short fic you can't take your mind off of! give youâand your charactersâa break.
you! won't! always! make! your! word! count! -- you don't need to keep stretching sentences because the scene you finally got right is a hundred words too short. sometimes it's better that way.
the "rules" and "tips" are just ~guidelines~ (especially for people who like to swear by them) -- writing has no laws. especially first drafts. scrap the grammar, scrap the emotional tips, write it because it feels right, not because someone else says so.
every writer procrastinates. it's not easy being a writer.
take time off for yourself. the only thing harder than writing a story is to keep pushing it when you need a break the most. come back to it later. I promise there will be no dumpster fires when you're gone.
all writing is "real" writing. I don't think there's an explanation here?? fiction writers are writers. nonfiction writers are writers. fanfic writers are writers. (like how all reading is real reading!! in every format, too!)
it doesn't need to be perfect. honestly, it might never be. but it can be really close to it. if you're not satisfied with it, move on and come back when you're ready.
you are just as skilled as any bestselling author. remember that everything you read has been heavily edited by teams of people! their first draft could not even be as good as yours is now.
not using clichĂŠs is clichĂŠ. you will find one in any story. no one can bring you down for liking a certain trope. just because it's common doesn't mean it's bad!
no writer is fully well-rounded. dialogue will be easier to write for some, and description for others.
and, finally, no one knows what they're doing. trust me. we're all stumbling around blind here.

How to Start Worldbuilding?
Every year, weâre lucky to have great sponsors for our nonprofit events. World Anvil, a 2021 NaNoWriMo sponsor, helps you develop and organize your characters, plot, and world setting. Today, World Anvil is here to share some pro tips for worldbuilding basics!
How do I start worldbuilding? Itâs one of the most commonly asked questions in our community, and one which even seasoned professionals ask! After all, creating epic settings like those of The Expanse, Game of Thrones, or Mistborn can seem like an overwhelming taskâbut they all start from the same place: the fragment of an idea, carefully grown into something extraordinary. The good news is that you can easily create your own rich, unique setting, and in this post Iâll tell you how to start!
Getting inspiration!
Letâs start at the beginningâthat flash of inspiration. Brandon Sanderson describes a drive in foggy weather as his inspiration for Mistborn. Sometimes a setting idea can come from a dream, flash fiction, a TV show or game, a character, or from a magic system youâve been toying with. The desire to dig into a new genreâsci fi, steampunk or epic fantasyâis also a great place to start. And occasionally, a plot walks into your brain with a settingâor a least a few fragments of oneâattached.

Things you should know about each of your characters
These are what I would consider to be the most basic, bare-bones questions of character creation.
What would completely break your character?
What was the best thing in your characterâs life?
What was the worst thing in your characterâs life?
What seemingly insignificant memories stuck with your character?
Does your character work so that they can support their hobbies or use their hobbies as a way of filling up the time they arenât working?
What is your character reluctant to tell people?
How does your character feel about sex?
How many friends does your character have?
How many friends does your character want?
What would your character make a scene in public about?
What would your character give their life for?
What are your characterâs major flaws?
What does your character pretend or try to care about?
How does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?
What is your character afraid of?
What is something most people in your setting do that your character things is dumb?
Where would your character fall on a politeness/rudeness scale?

For When You Get the Chance
My head canon for SWTOR is my Sith Inquisitor is the Apprentice of my boyfriendâs Sith Inquisitor.. so the letter from Theron in KOTFE would be slightly different, since she wasnât frozen in carbonite.
Here, I wrote a story.
Maaike Konshi stood from her desk as the chrono indicated it was time for her to go home. The rest of the 20-something members of staff, who worked in the SIS Analytics department with her, noticed her movement and glanced toward the chrono too. With no windows it was difficult to lose track of time in the office but today Maaike was counting the seconds.
Not only was the understaffed team working double shifts â which was not unusual â but the things they had to read and analyse were getting more and more savage. This new threat, The Eternal Empire, was far worse than the just-plain-ordinary Empire. She had read they had killed Darth Marr and Darth Xercses. Not that she was saddened by the news, but anyone who could down such well-known, well-feared members of the Dark Council were formidable indeed.
But what was really bothering her was she had had a holocall from her parents in the middle of the night. Full of worry, she answered only to find they were again talking to her about their desire she join the Order, that her brother was fighting to save people and all the things sheâd heard a hundred times before. But this time her mother had informed her she was coming to Coruscant to talk to her face to face. Maaike was dreading the mere thought.
So sheâd decided she would go to Dealerâs Den and let off some steam. She was still a member of SIS, though, and would keep a limit to how much she gambled and drank. But really, she just needed the release.
- - - -
Walking into Corusantâs most famous cantina she was hit by a wall of sound. The band, the laughing, singing and swearing. Her instincts to go back home were dulled by her need to drink. She ordered one of a purple hue and sat at the bar, trying to think about anything but her motherâs visit.
After two more she noticed a man sat on the other side of the bar, pouring over a datapad. He looked like he was in pain though mental or physical she couldnât tell. She knew the man, somehow. She had seen him before. She realised where from and decided in her inebriated mind to go sit with him. He looked like he could use the company, after all.
âHey, I know you,â she slurred slightly taking the stool next to him. He glanced at her briefly then looked back at his datapad. âYou know, work hours are over, put that away and enjoy a drink with me.â
âI donât tend to drink for enjoyment,â he replied simply.
âRight⌠well⌠what if I buy you one, huh? Free drink is better than paying for one, donât you think?â
âListen, I donât want any company, okay?â
âWhatâs the matter, Agent? Something on that datapad got you down? Put it away, forget about it, drink to forget about it,â she said with a drunken smile.
âI appreciate the concern, but really, Iâd rather be alone,â his eyes didnât shift from the datapad and Maaike couldnât help her curiosity and glanced at the message he had displayed on it.
âLana Beniko? Sheâs a Sith, no wonder you look scared,â the Agent suddenly looked her full in the face, his golden eyes blazing with anger.
âYou have no right to look at my personal message,â he looked back down at it and swiped it away for a blank one. âAnd Iâm not scared of Lana.â
âIf youâre in contact with a Sith you really should-â
âItâs none of your business,â he growled, downing the shot that had been sat next to him since before sheâd moved seats.
âI know who you are,â she slurred again. âWe worked together.â He raised an eyebrow at this, though still didnât look away from the empty message, the action pulled at the implant over his left eye, she wondered if it hurt.
âI work alone,â he said distracted and she suspected it was a mantra of his.
âBut you worked with those Sith before, on Rishi and Yavin 4, I saw the reports, I worked on âem. Â Not always alone, it seems.â
- - - -
âAnalytics,â Theron realised, looked up and seeing his unwanted companion for the first time since she had sat next to him. The Kiffar had a blue chevron on each cheek, she was pretty, he realised, not that it mattered. His life was falling apart around him and this drunken member of SIS wanted a chat.
âYeah, âxactly. You worked in my office a while back. Operation End Game. Then went and fulfilled the paper work. A rare thing. I prefer desk work, personally. Too much risk in the field.â She was examining the empty glass that was in her left hand and gesturing drunkenly with her right.
âSomeone has to do it. I think Iâd go under if I had to sit at a desk every day. Almost did during those three months,â heâd resigned to the fact that the woman wasnât leaving, and she didnât seem to want to cause trouble, so responded.
âNot my risk,â she pointed to herself âothers. Iâm not good to have out on the field. Thatâs why I left the Order.â
âYouâre a Jedi?â he looked up, baffled.
âWas gonna be. Realised being Kiffar wasnât great when it came to the psychometry part. Mine is extra sensitive but my Force stuff is pretty weak,â she wiggled her fingers at him and laughed.
âSo you saw a lot of bad things? Even before you got to any real battles?â
âYeah..,â she trailed off and looked downcast then tried to pull on a smile. âMy brother is the Jedi of the family, not me. Apprentice of the Grand Master.â
Theron was taken aback by the unexpected mention of his mother. It only made him think of the last time theyâd spoken. Ziost. The last time I saw⌠he couldnât even think her name, the pain was too great.
âHow about that drink?â he asked. The Kiffar perked up and ordered something for them both. âI donât even know your name.â
âMaaike,â she beamed, sticking out her hand.
âTheron,â he shook it.
- - - -
Maaike found Theronâs stories of field work thrilling, she remembered many of them from reports but to hear the details from someone who had been there was a whole different deal to the way the reports were written.
She suspected he was only talking because it was distracting him from the datapad still sat in front of him, but she didnât mind. She was using him for a drinking buddy, he was using her as distraction. This is how friendships are made, mutual using.
âOkay, okay,â she slurred raising her hands in front of her. âYou destroyed the ship, happy ending. What Iâm interested in is Rishi and Yavin and Ziost. Those events led to what is happening in our galaxy right now. From a professional point of view, it would be useful to learn more about it. Especially since The Eternal Empire just brought down Darthâs Marr and Xercses.â
âYouâve read the reports,â he said with that pained look again. âThereâs nothing more to tell.â
âI donât believe you,â she raised an eyebrow.
âSo donât believe me,â he said angered, scooping up his datapad and turning on his stool to stand.
âNo, wait-,â she leant forward to grab him before he could leave but instead her hand landed on the datapad.
The cantina disappeared and she saw a command room, a computer terminal in the middle. Walking toward her was none other than Darth Xercses and his apprentice. To the side of her stood Lana Beniko.
Get me out of here.
Datapad in one hand, the hand of the apprentice came toward her and she stretched out the free hand that was not hers to take it and they shook in greeting.
The next moment she was plunged into darkness. Her eyes adjusted to find she was in a badly lit shack of some kind. Walking outside into the bright heat of the day she again saw Darth Xercses and his apprentice stood opposite Lana Beniko. She felt her heart race a little but wasnât sure why, it wasnât her own heart that was reacting to the situation.
After a short chat they all entered the shack. She was now subjected to quick bursts of different days within the place. Planning on overthrowing the Revanites bit by bit, always paying extra attention to the apprentice in the back of her mind, not something that was coming from her own mind but the mind of Theron, whose eyes she knew she was seeing through.
I guess I didnât need him to tell me about his mission on Rishi after all.
A moment later her body ached and she was running down a hall, away from blaster bolts hitting at the walls she ran by. Safely locking a heavy door between the attackers and herself she found herself being embraced by the apprentice.
âYouâre alive,â she sighed with relief, her blue lips parting in a smile, âI wasnât sure for a moment there.â Maaike felt herself smile down at her.
âI was halfway through the door when Iâd seen youâd shown up to rescue me. Shouldâve known you would,â she felt her mouth move, her heart increasing again.
The Republicâs best agent has a thing for the Sith.. Apprentice of Xercses who was recently killed, her likely along with him. Lana Beniko must have told him in the message and thatâs why heâs here drinking. Poor guy.
During her thoughts many other scenes involving the apprentice appeared to her but she tried to ignore them the best she could, it wasnât fair, she didnât want to see these things and he certainly wouldnât appreciate her seeing them either. They were clearly very personal.
And difficult. Having a thing for a Sith when youâre SIS. Poor guy.
- - - -
Theron had had enough. He came here to escape his thoughts of those times, not to discuss them in detail. He grabbed his datapad and turned to leave. He saw Maaike go to stop him but her hand landed on the datapad instead of his wrist. All of a sudden he couldnât move the thing away from her and her eyes had gone misty.
âHey, are you alright?â he asked. She didnât move, it was like sheâd been frozen. He tried wriggling the datapad away from her but it was steadfast. Psychometry. Damn, she said it was powerful in her but this.. Iâve never heard of anything like this, no wonder she didnât want to go into any battles.
As soon as the ability of the Kiffar faded her eyes slowly returned to their proper colour and her hand dropped from the datapad. Theron held on to her shoulders to make sure she didnât slip off her stool.
âYou alright?â
âWhatâs her name?â she asked, taking two shots in a row. He sat back down next to her, datapad in his lap, looking at his hands resting on top of it.
âCorona,â he almost whispered. âCoronaâlux.â
âShe might not be-â
âDonât.â Even if she was alive â which didnât seem likely â he knew Maaikeâs words were more of a curtesy than out of genuine sympathy. Any other SIS agent would be pleased at the news Darth Xercsesâ apprentice was⌠not around. I know different. âShe isnât a Sith. She never wanted to be Sith or Jedi but she was sold to the Academy from slavery. She didnât have much choice in the matter,â he said defiantly, his head still pointing to his hands in his lap.
âThat message from Lana Beniko.. it was about her wasnât it?â Theron nodded. âDoes it say sheâs.. gone? Definitely?â she said cautiously. His head lifted.
âNo. No, it doesnât.â
âThen maybe sheâs out there. Stranded, hiding, plotting.â
âI-â he paused. âMaybe.â
âIf you really care about her you should let her know,â she spoke with drunken knowledge. âShe might be dead,â she took another shot âbut if sheâs not, donât you think youâll win a few points with her if you send her a message letting her know youâre here for her?â
âYou know, if you can think this straight while drunk, you must be a real asset to the Analytics department while sober.â She beamed at him then pointed to the datapad.
âGo on, it might make you feel better.â Theron sighed but relented.
âOkay,â he sat stooped over his datapad for a while then showed Maaike to read.
âToo formal, youâre not talking to the Director.â
âHum..,â he made a few changes then showed her again. She shook her head.
After a dozen or so more tries he was getting frustrated.
âFrom the heart or not at all, she waggled her finger at him.â
âFrom the heart or not at all..,â he repeated. Theron took a deep breath and prepared to finally write down what he had found so difficult to admit to himself since he had last seen Corona on Ziost.
To: Lord Coronaâlux Canis Subject: For when you get the chance.
Iâve written this message twice now. Okay, more than twice. Kinda weird writing something that may never be read. Lana says youâve disappeared without a trace. (Yeah, weâre in touch. Long story.) I like to think youâre on some tropical planet somewhere, sleeping the last few years of your life off, having one crazy dream. And maybe Iâm in it. But I donât want to presume. We never declared what thisâyou and meâis⌠was⌠Have I mentioned Iâm bad at relationships? Another reason Iâm a workaholic.
Iâm rambling. The point Iâm trying to make isâwhateverâs between us, I want you to know that I care about you. A lot. The whole galaxyâs lost its mind. The thing that keeps me going is the knowledge that youâre out there, and Iâm putting together a plan to find you. I might not be with you now âand Iâm sorry about that- but I havenât forgotten about you or our time together. I never will.

Her sensitivity to the Force allows her to be extremely observant of otherâs feelings. In terms of Light/Dark side, she is very much balanced. She doesn't agree with killing for killingâs sake; killing to defend, however, is fine by her. Whether that be defending against an attack on herself or defending those who would in future be harmed. With those she cares about she is patient and will listen to anything they have to say with true interest. She has a good sense of humour and enjoys music to relax. If it wasnât for her master she would have fled to the Republic long ago, fighting for them on her own terms. She holds great interest in learning all she can about both sides, just to make sure her morals are where she feels best for them to be. She could use her charm to get any information she needed out of those she could make fall for her, manipulating emotions to get what she needed.Â

The Characterâs Relationship With Others
Reputation:
Many see her as wayward as she refuses to bow to the Sith and their ways. But those close to her would say she is caring and sympathetic.Â
Love Interest(s):
Andronikos Revel. Darth Marr - both only flings as a way to relieve tension. Theron Shan - the only person sheâs ever been in love with.
Friend(s):
Darth Xercses, Ashara, Talos
Master(s): Darth Xercses
Apprentice(s): n/a
Enemy(ies): Lannlia.
Relationship(s):
Darth Xercses - Xercses took Corona on as his apprentice after he felt her potential with the Force. The other Lords disregarded her talent as she was brought in from slavery. Xercses, having been a slave himself, happily ignored this fact and they very quickly became close. Corona only ever held her tongue enough to not get herself killed by those of higher rank but she did not trust or like them, she believed they were destroying the Galaxy. Other than the small exception of Lana Beniko, Xercses was the only Sith she cared at all for and trusted implicitly. She believed he was âone of the good guysâ. Not loyal to the Sith or Empire she only stayed out of loyalty to her Master and her knowing being the apprentice of the newly made Dark Council member would give her better opportunity to find her lost family. She was also aware that many Darths and Lords would have her slaughtered for her lack of loyalty to the Sith Empire and only Xercses kept them at bay. They became very much each otherâs family in a sort of God-parent/uncle and god-child/niece kind of relationship. She is fiercely loyal to him despite her not always agreeing with him.Â
Ashara Zavros - Ashara became close to Corona the moment she joined Xercsesâ crew, both having Light-side morals and being disillusioned by the Empire, Sith and Jedi they had much in common. Fast becoming like sisters, they shared everything. They trained together as Apprentices, sparring with one another to improve their respective skills. Corona helped Ashara quickly realise Talosâ enthusiasm was a good way to learn more of the world sheâd newly entered, both being taught by him much of the Empire and Republicâs histories.
Talos Drellik - Talos was friendly with Corona from the start and she was suspicious of him but very quickly realised he was just very enthusiastic about his cause, about learning all he can about the Galaxy. He taught her and Ashara much of history. They became like siblings, often teasing one another but always there when times got tough.Â
Khem Val - Khem and Corona never saw eye to eye and avoided each other as much as possible. She did not trust his presence, knowing he would feed on her the moment Xercses wasnât in the picture. Â Â
Andronikos Revel - Revel very much had a thing for Corona the moment he joined the crew but she never trusted him. She sensed no true loyalty in him. Revel being a pirate made her more suspicious as she had many bad experiences with them on Rishi as a child. She would only seek his company when in need of a way to relax.
Xalek - Xalek being a true follower of the Sith code did not get on with Corona, they rarely saw eye to eye and she felt he was a time bomb of hate and anger. Only the loyalty to their master kept them from any true animosity.Â
Lana Beniko - Lana was one of the few Sith Corona cared for, at first being cautious of Xercsesâ feelings toward Lana and being cold toward her as Corona feared it might impact his work, she eventually grew to understand Lana was first and foremost interested in her cause and wouldnât allow Xercses to forget his own. She respected her initiative to join with an SIS member too defeat a threat to everyone. Corona believed if more Sith were like Lana and Xercses the Empire might be worth fighting for, with the few exceptions when it came to just how far she would go to do what she thought was necessary.Â
Jakarro/C2-D4 - Jakarro being an actions-before-questions kind of person easily frustrated Corona during planning of any kind of action but during their down-time they got on well. Corona was amused by the love/hate relationship of the Wookie and Droid and even more so of the droidâs exaggerated pessimism.Â
Theron Shan - Theron had Coronaâluxâs heart from the moment she first heard his voice, even if she didnât realise it. She was intensely curious about the Republic and so bombarded him with questions. She respected his initiative to join with a Sith to defeat a threat to everyone. She tried to keep her distance knowing any friendship she established with him would end the moment their mission was through. This, however, backfired spectacularly as she found herself falling in love with him and could sense through the Force he was falling in love with her too. Inevitably they had to part, but it was on good terms, with Corona stating if it wasn't for Xercses she would have gone with Theron to the Republic. Â
Darth Marr - Darth Marr and Coronaâlux did not see one another often but as she was the apprentice of a fellow Dark Council member their paths did cross once in a while. She held respect for Marr unlike any other member of the Council - other than of course Xercses. She saw Marr as the only other Darth who could actually benefit the lower classes of the Empire, she thought he was headed in the right direction despite not always agreeing with his methods. She was one of the few to ever see him without his mask, this being due to his mild infatuation with her and the two seeking to release stress.

The Characterâs Familial/Biographical Information
Birthplace: Rishii Village
Homeworld: Rishi
Family:
Lunaâlux. Sister. Alive. Whereabouts unknown.
Buraheco - Alias. Jedi Knight Iozol Vao. Father. Unknown
Lilea Cah- Alias. Sith Lord Kalira Kiyanu. Mother. Unknown.
Background:
Born on Rishi in 3666BBY to a Twiâlek father and human mother. She has a twin sister who very much took after their father. Corona took after her mother.
Her mother was a Sith Lord, tasked with killing a Jedi leader on Taris. His organisation and strength with the Force could change the tide of the fighting. She never intended to kill him. She would surrender and instead ask if she could change sides. She had had enough of the brutality of the Sith.
Her father was a Jedi Knight, tasked with killing a Sith leader on Taris. Her wit and strength with the Force could change the tide of the fighting. He never intended to kill her. He would surrender and instead ask if he could change sides. He had had enough of the emotionless state of the Jedi.
They talked and talked, sabers on the floor between them. Red and blue, side by side. Neither liked the idea of either side of the force so they ran.
From planet to planet, moon to moon, space station to space station they ran. For almost four years they hid from the Empire and Republic.
Inevitably they fell in love. And nearing the fourth year of their desertion they discovered the former Sith was pregnant. The only safe place to settle, they decided, would be Rishi. Full of outlaws, pirates, criminals; nobody would a8sk questions.
Finding themselves taken in by a Rishii village, they became close with the bird-like aliens. They were family. They felt safe and protected as the time came for the delivery.
Much to their surprise, they were twins. Two girls. One who looked perfectly human except for the tint of blue around her eyes, in her nails, her lips and the small patch of hair she was born with was bright blue like her fatherâs skin. The other was Twiâlek, blue like her father, with nothing that would hint at her having a human mother.
They named them Coronaâlux and Lunaâlux. They thought sharing half a name would keep them close in these hard times. To remind them always that they are twins.
They spent 7 years as a family. The children running off to play with the pirate kids. The parents trying to establish some kind of government, some kind of order to Rishi. They ended illegal smuggling of animals fairly quickly. Bringing them back to be looked after by the village and the children. Corona very quickly learned what they liked to eat and how to best look after them, Luna preferred to read about the Galaxies history.
Both were told of how their parents met, how they had abandoned the Sith and Jedi ways. How they would likely be force sensitive too. They both loved listening to the stories, scrunching their noses whenever Sith or Jedi were mentioned.
The kind acts of their parents did not go unnoticed by the pirate gangs on Rishi. They came together to create a plot to end their good ways â ways which were bad for business.
They came in the night. Ransacked the Rishii village and made their way to the small house the force sensitive family had made. Some of the pirates dragged the parents off into the night while the others decided what to do with the children. Unaware any of them were force sensitive, they didnât think to turn them to the Sith or Jedi academies. As they discussed the childrenâs fates a brave Rishii attempted to rescue them. Blasters went off in all directions and a small bomb was thrown.
Corona dived at her sister and shielded her to protect her from the blast, Lunaâs head hit the ground hard and her cheek was embedded with glass already on the floor from the break in. After the bomb detonated Corona felt agony on the left side of her face, the side most exposed, but she ignored it, she had to check on her sister.
Luna was unconscious. Or at least she hoped so. Glass protruding from her cheek Corona pulled it out and blood began to fall from the wound. As Corona cried for her sister to be okay the Rishii ran to them and told her to run; he could protect Luna but not them both. Corona ran.
She found a young Grophet mother and her babies being hunted down, she protected the animal and calmed them, Corona ended up living with the small Grophet family in the underground of Rishi. Stealing to survive as it was too dangerous to return to the village and became a young pirate of her own.
Shortly after she rescued a Thranta and her and her animal companions cared for each other for a year before she was caught and sold to slavery.
She spent five miserable years as a slave, being sent from one fool to the next when one day she couldnât control herself and used the force to keep back the slavers. She protected all the slaves she could until a Sith scout was sent for to test her sensitivity to the force and take her to the Sith Academy for training.
She didnât go willingly but on a promise all the slaves sheâd tried to save would be killed in the most awful way if she continued fighting, she went to the Academy.
Ten years of being an Acolyte and she was chosen to be the Apprentice or the only Sith she had any respect for. Lord Xercses.
