[THE ARCANA] Land Of Broken Promises (Animatic) I may or may not have spent the last five months making an Animatic about The Arcana Game. Well I finally posted it on YouTube! I’ll probably share some panels soon (I already posted some, but there are still plenty left behind!) :)

I always get art block during the summer.

I used that time to play Gravity Rush and a few other games I had been meaning to finish. I feel like my creativity is coming back and right now I want to draw what makes me happy.

My current hyper fixation. I read the 3 available volumes in my country of ‘The Summer Hikaru Died’ and cried for an entire week uncontrollably and inconsolable 🥲. It started out as a simple portrait of Hikaru and then grew. I wanted to try some new techniques and even made a video editing but I won’t share that here.

It’s my son’s cannon Birthday today!🎂

I’ve felt the need to spend some quality time with Ryo and finally share some of his Sprite expressions, some OC lore from his past, and his voice claim I’ve been literally itching to do something with.

Writing is overwhelming and as much as I want to write something polished I know I get too over stimulated and simply can’t write what I want 😵‍💫.

So for now I’ll put some of my thoughts here.

Prior to the events in the game Ryo lived as an ‘Oracle’ at a remote temple. His ‘curse’ was viewed as a blessing by the monks/priests however to use the gift to its fullest potential Ryo was subjected to following strict rules and rituals. He was treated like a deity and had little freedom but was devoted to his duties and under the impression he was doing good.

The monks/priests fed him laced tea so he would be complicit and perform his duties without questioning the implications. The years of being drugged regularly left his eyesight permanently damaged and for a long time it was left untreated. Ryo never really understood the gravity of what was happening around him until one fateful day 💀

Been struggling with a rather aggressive art block, overall distraction and burn out from work 😵‍💫.

Aside from that, I managed to finish Sen and I’m tremendously pleased with the results considering how little we know of her and the limited art.

I hope to see more love for her she’s so beautiful and so sad 😞.

I don’t usually participate in these as I’m not a very good writer but this looks really fun and I’d to try!

Ryo: I’ve been calling the curse the ‘Kintsugi’ curse. Named for the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Like this art form the curse is attributed to darken bruised flesh with golden veining/cracks. Ryo’s journey is that or the ‘Unnamed’ where he was brought up in a temple and groomed to believe that his curse was a blessing. The priests would assure him that his ‘gift’ was a divine mark from the gods that was here to help and serve the people. The ‘Golden repair’ with a touch from Ryo he could heal the injured, cure the sick and comfort those in need. That’s what Ryo was made to believe. With every touch the curse would spread across his body. While his hands and arms manifest the nature of the curse it will slowly spread and creep across the rest of his body. Ryo thought he was doing something noble, he thought he was helping people but a traveling mage who saw a pure intent in him felt that it was important to expose what his curse was doing and that the priests who raised him and taught him were exploiting him. With that realization, Ryo decided that he would leave the temple and find a way to lift the curse.

Fun Fact:

His curse also grants him other super natural qualities besides from what the Touchstarved game has shared. Aside from causing madness and essentially tainting human souls to succumb to their inner sins/temptations, Ryo’s body can reanimate meaning that he can die and be injured and maimed an endless amount of times and he will revive. Where ever he is harmed or injured from whether he’s stabbed, fatally wounded and even if his limbs are severed (including decapitation ) like the Kintsugi golden repair, his body will put itself back together and the golden cracks/veining will mark wherever it was that he was harmed from. The downside is that he can feel and experience the pain of death and mutilation as many times as he’s harmed. He’s essentially immortal but he can experience agony forever.

Question. How do you interpret your mc's curse?

Kaiho: his curse spreads as he ages, and its appearance is altered by his emotions. He was 7 years old when it started manifesting on his fingertips, and has slowly grown to reach below his shoulders. When he feels distressed, the golden fissures glow, and his nails slowly grow longer.

Hellebore: their curse grows with them. She was born with small dark patches on her chest, forehead, and fingertips; as she grew older the patches grew with her, now covering most of his chest, the upper half of his face and his arms. The golden fissures that accompany the black tint are vibrant and glowing, making their curse much harder to hide.

Poppies are a common symbol that has been used to represent everything from peace, death and even sleep. Poppy’s have a dozen meanings and symbolisms and different cultures have different interpretations of them where they can mean ‘fun-loving’ in eastern cultures or ‘death’ in western cultures. These flowers can be translated with countless meanings and that’s what I like about them.
