dumbo octopus amigurumi pattern
I have another free amigurumi pattern for you: it’s a little dumbo octopus! This small sea creature is quite quick to crochet, and makes a cute gift or decoration.

The Blanket Scarf
I made this scarf (in yellow) back in August and thought to myself – “I’m never going to wear this, it’s enormous!” and boy did I prove myself wrong. I LOVE this scarf! It’s huge and warm and makes me feel like I’m wrapped up in my blanket and that is perfect for the winter months.
So I made a second one in blue because I couldn’t get enough! The pattern (if you can even call it that – it’s one stitch!!) is made for an absolute beginner.
I basically only wrote it up because I find super simple patterns are never written up because everyone assumes they’re too easy and everyone already knows how to do them. I also like to see how a certain type of wool will look in a specific stitch.
Anyway, please enjoy the Blanket Scarf pattern!

Day 6- inspiration
(whew, all caught up now!)
For me, knitting is a relaxing yet stimulating hobby, with practical benefit. It's repetitive, soothing and calming while still taking enough brain power to mean I can't wallow in my thoughts. I find it a really good way to manage/ redirect my anxiety, and it's a good way to fiddle in a productive way. And I also love the feeling of finishing a project, and then being able to implement it in my life. Or projects will remind me of certain things, like how whenever I wear the hat I made when travelling in New Zealand, or the socks I made when I started uni, or the little things I made once I came to terms with my asexuality and aromanticism. For me, it's a way to express so many things- my identity, my values and my aesthetic preferences. So I guess I tie a lot of meaning to my knitting, and that serves as more than enough inspiration for me.
(this is a tiny ace pride flag I knitted when I first came out to myself. Now I've got it up in my room because I'm much more out at uni than at home, but I love it twice as much because I made it myself).

Day 4- wip Wednesday
I don't have any progress on by projects further than day two, so I'm going to combine a few of the days.
Day 5- other hobbies
I love reading and drinking tea. I figure skate. I have plant babies (succulents) that I love tending to. I enjoy playing board games and learning new things. I'm bit of an old soul, safe to say.
( also, not pictured because I've lent all of her books out to my friends, but Alice Oseman is my favourite author of all time ☺️)

Day 3 - craft corner
This is kinda tricky. Back home, I have a IKEA kallax bookshelf that houses all my knitting paraphernalia. In my dorm room, I just have my projects in little bags on one of my shelves. I didn't bring my whole assortment of wool and needles because last year I barely had time to knit. If I only have a few projects with me, hopefully I'll work on them 😅! I like knitting in my dorm, and in the student commons, or anyware else on campus really. Especially if the weather's nice outside. So I don't have a craft corner per se.

Naknicromo day 2
Goals?!
This naknicromo I'd like to make some solid progress on my big wip- a cabled vest/cardigan/wrap thing. I'm still working on the back panel (then only two front panels and the cabled collar after that!) But I'd really like to finish the back panel and have some progress on a front panel at the end of the month. Because it's quite large, I can really only work on it at home or at the knitting group at my dorms.

The smaller project that's thrown in there is washcloths- I'm absolutely obsessed with making them, and their smaller counterparts ( I think maybe called tawashi's?) to use instead of cotton rounds. And I gift them to everyone in my life, and it's never too early to be building up the Christmas gift stash! Best part is, they take me around an hour each, so as projects go they score super well on the gratification scale.

Naknicromo day 1 ( several days late😅)
Hey everyone, I'm Em (she/her), I'm in my second year of University studying linguistics and languages ( uni is also why I'm doing this so late, it's been a busy start to the semester 😔). I've been knitting for maybe 9 years now? I've lost count!! And I've taught myself some crochet as well, but I far prefer knitting. My favourite thing to knit is basically anything quick! I love doing washcloths, socks, scarves and other small things, although I'm currently working on a big project.
Between uni and work and being a functional adulrt, it can be hard to find time to knit, but I must be an eternal optimist because it seems that I've always got a project with me to work on when I've got a spare ten minutes. Anyway I'm looking forward to participating in naknicromo!
( these were my first pair of socks that I completed just under a year ago!)

Finished making some mini facecloths tonight to add to my growing collection of knitted washcloths/ facecloths. They're neat to work on inbetween bigger projects because they're so quick. Boom... gratification.
