hey do u ever think about how this literally HAS to be Thorfinn's own internal dialogue towards himself. about how he's facing the young girl whose father he just murdered in front of her--just as HIS father was murdered in front of him--and saying this to her. about how this means his response to his father's death was to lose himself to hatred ostensibly towards Askeladd but really towards himself, towards his five-year-old self, for being helpless? how he made sense of this tragedy by hating his own "weakness" and therefore The Weak in general, leading him to inflict that same horror and trauma on so many others, including Hild? do u ever think about. that.
