How did you start to study Japanese? Like.. Did you do it online, bought book or..? I'm trying to start learning a new language, an asian one too, and I'm trying to collect all the tips possible.

my previous answer to the previous anon also mentions how i started studying it. but anyway, i did self-study it through the internet, on english websites for the most part, altho im not a native english speaker. then i went to uni and bought some books, of course. uni helped a lot, tho. it’s really great to have someone helping you through the process and giving you some kind of timeline, a guide or smth.

What's your reason to know japanese so well? If you can tell, ofc.

i’ve been studying it for quite some time now. it’s been like almost 4 years i guess. at first it was self-studied, then i stopped for about a year, then began again studying at uni. at uni it was easier but also more difficult because uni in general is harsh. but because of my background knowledge i managed to learn many new things very quickly, started improving my grammar, my speaking skills, etc. i also made friends with some japanese people, both online and in my city, met with them, started chatting with them, and they also helped me improving. of course, spending 10hrs per day when i was about 15 watching videos on yt of japanese girls interacting, so paying attention at them and not at some random anime characters, also helped A LOT my listening skills, which my classmates at uni really do not have nearly as developed. listening to stuff really helps a lot.

and if you meant WHY i started studying japanese in the first place: it was purely so i could understand what former AKB48 soukantoku and Team A pioneer Takahashi Minami said in interviews and random unsubbed videos on YT. now, i keep studying it simply because i love the japanese country and wish to be able to work there someday.

Honestly guys, this is also why I took such a long time off of here. And also why this is supposed to be a only requests oriented blog. It’s always the same shit. I’ve been a fan for such a long time now – like yeah, I took a break from time to time, but hell, I’ve been in this mess since 2012. I’m kinda tired. Yesterday was Mayu, today is Sakura, tomorrow it’s gonna be someone else. I’m kinda tired of all of this. I love all these girls, believe me, but for fucks sake, I’ve got a girl who I love who’s in perpetual hiatus ‘cause she’s got health problems and god I’ve been counting the days for months now for her to finally announce graduation because at this point it’s honestly what makes the more sense… And, honestly, this is nothing new. This is what I think. Nothing new. Always the same shit.

I think that, in order to learn Japanese, as well as any other language, one must really have a good reason for it. If you wanna learn the language, like, very well. If you wanna reach a level where you actually understand what other people say, quickly, and then be able to reply just as quickly without much difficulty. Otherwise, if it’s just for understanding one or two words while watching anime or reading manga, I guess it doesn’t matter much. But in order to reach a good level of Japanese, one must really spend hours and hours studying. At least, that’s what I did. And I did have a good reason for it. It can be exhausting. Draining. Some days you’ll wanna quit everything and just burn everything. But if you really love the language and if you really have a good reason to start studying it, then you’ll never actually quit. Ever. 

I think that’s the most important thing.

hello!! :) i'm a new akb48 fan and i'm a bit lost with the general election concept... i saw an article about sakura saying that this is going to be the last time she's joining the election and i'm ???? she's leaving the group?? her not participating is going to affect her popularity?? sorry for asking :)

I made some research on the net but couldn’t find any article that spoke about this statement Sakura made. So I’m not sure about its credibility. But, if that turns out to be true, if this year’s gonna actually be her last SSK, then I guess that yes, the absence from the election might affect her popularity. However, a break from the election doesn’t necessarily mean graduation.
