Nino lays down at his apartment and hangs the photo up.
The photo starts talking to him and asking him if he wants to know about the woman who had the album.
He says yes, but the photo just confuses him.
Nino flops back on the bed disappointed, but the man in the photo gets his attention once more to let him know that Amelie is in love with him.
Nino is even more confused and says he does not even know her, while the photo replies that he knows her in his dreams.
24. Nino falls into Amelie's trap
At the meeting place, Nino receives a phone call from Amelie telling him to follow the arrows.
He sees a bunch of blue chalk arrows and follows them to a man dressed as a statue pointing up.
A kid tells him that he looks foolish and he turns to see the binoculars the statue is pointing to.
Through them he sees Amelie in disguise, putting up his album.
He runs to catch her.
He misses her and receives a phone call from her and she cryptically answers all his questions, directing him to a page in his album with her photo of her dressed silly.

Amelie at her apartment building takes some envelopes and sneaks out.
Everyone is cheerful at the cafe.

The glass man turns around and looks after she left the window to see the letter hanging to dry.
29. Revenge for Lucien part 4
The grocer returns home and tries to put on his house shoes, but they are too small.
He tries to plug in the lamp that is lit even though it is unplugged and it sparks, nearly electrocuting him.
He tries to call his mom and the phone directs him to a psychiatrist help line instead.
He tries to drink his whiskey, but soon spits it out tasting the burn of the salt in it.
30. Amelie's plan shapes up.
Amelie finds a poster at the train station that says when and where.
Amelie goes to a costume shop and purchases a costume.
At the same time, a man leaves his home.
A little over 20 minutes later Amelie takes photos of herself in the photo booth in a Zorro costume.
The man walks to the photo booth while she is taking photos.
She opens the curtain to find the man that's photo is most prevalent in Nino's album.
31. Amelie helps the landlady.
The landlady receives the letter Amelie has concocted.
The letter reads that they recovered her late husbands body from his plane crash and that the love letter that Amelie made is from him.
It says that he regrets cheating on her and plans to leave the woman to come back to her if he should survive.
The landlady cries happily and cleans off her husbands old photo on her wall.
32. Lucien gets art lessons in the glass man's apartment.
Lucien delivers groceries to the glass man again bringing another package from Amelie that he found.
Lucien tells the glass man about the letter the landlady received.
The Glass man gives Lucien lessons in painting.
The glass man gets upset at him and ends up yelling.
Lucien leaves.
The glassman watches the video Amelie made him and it contains a recording of babies swimming in a pool and a man dancing with a stick leg.
He sees Amelie from the window picking up her cat.
33. The gnome returns.
Amelie's father receives  another photo with the gnome in a different location.
The stewardess returns the gnome to Amelie.

and gets caught by a worker digging in the trash.
Nino hangs posters at the photobooth.
He digs under it to find shredded photos and finds a the picture Amelie in the Zorro mask.
At the porn shop, he assembles it and she's holding a sign that says to meet her at the The Two Windmills Cafe at four.
He calls Eva, the woman he works with, to cover for him at four.
33. Meeting at Two Windmills
The ex is jealous that Georgette smiles around other men.
Amelie is worried, because Nino is late.
She imagines a scenario where Nino is unable to put the photo back together, because a group of bankrobbers take him hostage.
They speed off and avoid the cops.
Nino makes the car crash and hits his head.
He loses his memory.
An ex-con picks him up and mistakes him for a fugitive, so he helps him get out of the country to Instanbul.
He meets some Afghan raiders in Istanbul and they take him hostage to steal some Russian warheads.
The Russian truck hits a mine in Tadzhikstan.
Nino escapes, takes to the hills, and becomes a Mujaheddin.
Nino arrives at the cafe and Amelie busies herself.
Nino orders a coffee, while Amelie watches him from a mirror.
He sees a woman walk in and waits expectantly, but she is here to see someone else.
Amelie watches him from a window behind his booth, rearranging salt shakers.
He turns and sees her and she takes a maker and begins writing on the window with a marker like she is putting up the menu.
He turns away and then turns back producing the photo.
He asks if it's her and she shakes her head.
He asks again almost sure it's her and she again refuses.
She rushes to the back of the store and has the waitress slip in Nino's pocket.
Nino leaves and Amelie suddenly melts into a puddle of water.
34. Glass man tries to give Amelie the push.
In the glass man's apartment, Amelie discusses the painting he's still having trouble with.
Using the woman as a metaphor for Amelie, the glass man calls her cowardly.
Upset, Amelie watches a movie that's dialogue seems to be talking to her, saying that it's fine to keep living in a dream.
She goes to skip stones in the canal.
The glass man records Lucien with his camera to ask him if he keeps keys to all the apartments for deliveries.
Amelie purposefully jams the photo booth at the station and calls the company about it.
35. Amelie solves a mystery and loses her nerve.
At the porn shop, Nino knocks on the peep show and asks if the worker will stand in for him, so he can try and meet her again at the cafe.
He pulls the piece of paper to write to her a note and finds the note the waitress had slipped him from Amelie.
He goes to the station at the booth to find the man from the photos that Amelie had discovered repairing the photobooth and solving the mystery.
Amelie walks towards Nino resolved only to turn away.
Once she turns back he's already gone.
36. Nino tries again at the Two Windmills Cafe and trouble follows.
Nino goes to the cafe and inquirers about the note.
Gina agrees to talk to him at six.
The ex is starting to act like a jealous lover again only towards Georgette.
Georgette gets upset and goes home.
The novelist and the boss yells at the ex.
The novelist and the ex get in a fight.
Amelie shows up to the cafe and finds out that Nino has been there to talk to Gina.
37. Gina tests Nino.
Gina walks with him and quizzes him on sayings.
She says she wants to make sure she's sane.
He gets them all right and she accepts him as being not all that bad.
38. Amelie has a meltdown.
Amelie returns and the landlady raves about miracles and the letter saying that a pretty woman had shown up upstairs.
Amelie finds the when and where posters in her apartment.
She states baking and has an image show up in her head of Nino buying yeast for her and showing up at her apartment.
At the same time he rattles the beads, she hears the actual beads rattle and turns shocked to find only Philomene's cat.
She begins to cry.
39. Nino comes to Amelie's apartment.
The doorbell rings and she goes to answer it, but doesn't when she hears Nino's voice.
She places her head against the door as he calls out for her.
He slides a note under the door that says he'll be back.
Amelie watches him leave through the window.
40. Amelie finds her courage (with a little help from her friends.)
The phone rings and she picks it up to a voice asking her to go to the bedroom.
She goes in to find a video queued up for her.
She watches the video of the glass man telling her to go get Nino.
Amelie runs to the door and opens it to find him standing there.
She drags him in by the collar and kisses him on the cheek without speaking.
Neither of them speak for  a long moment, only making motions.
Nino kisses her back.
The cat watches.
They have sex.
The glass man spies them through binoculars.
He catches Lucien recording them with the camera and yells at him.
Lucien lets the camera droop to the painting supplies instead.
The Conclusion
Hipolito, the novelist, finds a quote from him graffiti on a wall and leaves with a skip in his step.
An old man feeds a little boy in the courtyard.
The glass man finally works on a new painting.

Film Log #7: Waitress
IMdB Link || Film website Link
Director: Adrienne Shelly
Writer: Adrienne Shelly
Basic Plot:
Waitress is a movie about a woman stuck in an abusive relationship that is constantly planning her escape, only to find herself pregnant after her husband got her drunk one night. Jenna (Keri Russell) lives in the deep south and works hard as a waitress and pie maker in Joe's Pie Cafe. She's doing her best to collect enough money to leave her abusive and controlling husband Earl (Jeremy Sisto), but a surprise pregnancy complicates things. As she's trying to cope with the pregnancy, she tries to hide it from her husband and goes on with her normal stress-filled life in which everyone depends on her. Joe (Andy Griffith), the grouchy owner of the diner, comes in to bother her constantly and soon finds out about the pregnancy. He becomes fond of her throughout the film and helps her through many of her problems, though he complains and puts on a very tough front along the way. Her two friends and fellow waitresses know of her problems, but don't offer much help much though Jenna continues to sacrifice in order to help them. Soon, Jenna falls into an affair with her obgyn doctor Jim Pomatter (Nathan Fillion). This complicates things further as she's now riddled with guilty feelings, even though she's still planning on escaping Earl's grasps by participating in a pie contest to get the $25,000 reward. The weekend of the contest she packs her bags to go and heads to the bus stop, but Earl finds her and forces her into the car with him. He hits her and yells at her. Jenna gets scared and is forced to tell him she's pregnant. At home, Earl is still upset, but now because he believes she will love the baby more than she loves him and she does so to appease him. Meanwhile, her relationship with the doctor is heating up and she soon looses herself in the relationship even though as she soon finds he is also married. The doctor gives her a gold pie pan at one of her visits as a gift and she cries as she's never received anything like it. Earl soon finds it along with the money she's hidden in random places to use when she runs away from him. He cries and clings to her and she is forced to make up another story. She claims she was saving up the money to by the baby a crib and he believes her and laughs it off. Soon they spend all of the money she had saved up on a crib. In a moment of panic and absolute despair, she shows up at a doctor's appointment and tries to get him to save her. He tells her to get dressed and wait outside. They make plans to run. While sitting outside, her water breaks and he's forced to drive her to the hospital instead. During which Earl shows up and annoys her as she's having the child. She also sees the doctor's wife who is working as a resident in the hospital for the first time. After having the baby, she looks at it for a long time and falls in love with it. Earl pulls her out of it and reminds her of the promise. She blows him off plainly stating that she never loved him and he gets violent and throws a tantrum. She pays him no mind as he's escorted from the room by the staff. Without money to stay, she leaves the hospital to sray with her friends for a while bringing her new daughter Loulou home and telling the doctor that their relationship should end before they hurt the people around them. She soon learns that old Joe from the dinner has died and pulls the card she received from him before she had the baby. She found a check for $50,000 in it and is floored. She uses the money to open her own pay shop and take care of her daughter.
When and where?
Friday, March 8th, Conway DYSC meeting
Why did you choose this film?
I watched this film at a community group meeting for International Woman's day. We wanted to watch a film that was solely about a woman that was dealing with every day troubles and about finding the strength to overcome them.
What did you like about the film?
I enjoyed that it was all about one woman and it didn't shift its focus. It showed her thoughts and feelings in really clever ways through narration and the use of pie visuals. Pie. Pie is good. The movie was funny, but still serious because of the subject matter it was dealing with. It made a nice contrast. Nathan Fillion being in it definitely did not hinder it. I like that it ended in a nontraditional way, but not on a sour note. It was a film that actually made you root for the main character.
What didn’t you like about the film?
It was slow at parts and the characters besides Jenna seemed a little cheesy and not well formed really. More of a commentary than anything, I was a little worried about the way the obgyn was kind of rough with a very pregnant women at points if you know what I mean.
Would you recommend it?
I would recommend it. It's a movie that is funny, but about very serious subject matter. The abuse was well represented and in that way could be a help in really identifying with it. It brings awareness without being too risque and is overall just really human. It features someone far from perfect or even likable at some points, but still gets you to root for her none the less.
