Iris van Herpen Fall 2025 Couture
“The opening ‘Living Look’ is a first-of-its-kind vision - Inhabited by 125 million bioluminescent algae that emit light in response to movement. Created in collaboration with biodesigner Chris Bellamy @/bio.crafted, it is a living system cultivated in seawater and encapsulated in a specialized nutrient gel. A translucent protective coating allows light and air to pass through.
Rather than constructed, the dress is nurtured. Its circadian rhythm and environment are carefully tuned to its marine origin, transforming fashion into an act of care.”

Andre 3000’s “ 47 Messages “ Jumpsuits for the OutKast Reunion Tour in 2013. Every night he wore a different jumpsuit with a conversation starting message printed displayed on the front of it. In his own words, he said that he thought the fashion statement ( quite literally ) could act in a progressive manner, aiding socio-cultural concerns.
All 47 jumpsuits went on to be displayed in a gallery at The Savannah College of Art during Art Basel Miami. These jumpsuits also went on to spark a collection of t-shirts with the same messages. [ x ]

I finally got my patch pants put back together after disassembling them for some major repairs, and I'm really happy with how they look.
I made the skeleton peeking through the hole, the "refuse apathy", and the "a better world is possible" patches myself. The skeleton is painted free-hand with some embroidery and the other two patches are screen printed.
For the patches I didn't make, "Not in Our Name" is from @nerdykeppie, "Bread for all and roses too" and "Let every pansy bloom" are by coyotesnout on etsy and instagram, "Trans4Trans" by CrushworthyShop, and "Complacency is violence" by AggressivelyJewish on etsy. Unfortunately, I can't remember who made the "Fear this queer" and then alien abduction patches, but if I remember, I'll add their names.
The pants themselves were some white jeans (who wears those????) I found on clearance years ago and dyed grey, then splattered with blue and purple acrylic paint while they were still wet.

still thinking about the brainrot that fast fashion has caused in people, like i made this pair of pants that are black and white with a cool flowery design, and an acquaintance saw them and said "wow i'd pay like 20 dollars for you to make me a pair" and i could barely think with how utterly horrified i was at that; i told them that 20 dollars wouldn't even cover the materials, let alone the hours of work that went into cutting, sewing, ironing, hemming, altering, etc. they just had this look on their face when i told them that, when i said i wouldn't make them a pair for even 100 dollars because that was still way too low of an amount, a look that said "you're crazy for thinking that those cost 100 dollars" and maybe i am crazy but holy shit, 20 dollars for a pair of handmade, durable, lined pants fitted specifically to your measurements? 20 dollars for upwards of 60 hours of work? 20 dollars for several yards of high-quality fabric, thread, and buttons? 20 dollars???
