Every time game journalists say Stardew Valley invented the farm sim genre I'm pretty sure a Harvest Sprite dies somewhere in the universe.

Planning to make a series of one-shots based on my boyfriend's pair picks for the Harvest Moon Mineral Town folks (no he doesn't know much about the dynamics of the game — i only told him not to pair Rick and Pop because they're sibs)

1. Kai/Mary - funnily enough, i have shipped these two since 2012. I have a fanart of this pair floating around in deviantart.

2. Pete/Elli - Oh, i LOVE this.

3. Gray/Popuri - HELLOOOOO HARVEST MOON 64!!! GOOD PAIR! GREAT PAIR! Perfect swap to Kai/Mary.

4. Rick/Karen - Canon. No problem!

5. Trent/Ann - I currently can't find a fic of this ship, but I kinda dig it? Rare pair!

6. Cliff/Claire - one of the most popular ships in the Mineral Town games. I have NOT written for them ever, I think, and I'm kinda excited!

Now I want to take you somewhere to get a nice warm drink and tell you about ever little detail I wrote in the fic, my crippling fear of mischaracterization, and also if you want to get married.

“Runaway” is a rewrite for a fanfiction I did in 2009 on fanfiction.net with the same name.

This is based on Harvest Moon: For Girls / Back to Nature, with added influences from DS Cute, MFoMT, and the SoS FOMT games.

Claire/Kai is the main pairing. Includes other pairings, mostly the canon ones: Gray/Mary, Cliff/Ann, Rick/Karen, etc.

Not exactly looking for fame or popularity here, but this one had some small readership back in the day, so I was hoping these people are around to see that I’ve indeed “find it in my hypothalamus to continue this”, as an old review said.

I’ve taken a much mature take on the plot, so the specifics of the story is largely rewritten, but the general plot is still there!

It’s far from done, but I’ve put a few chapters in already. Updates will be every 2 weeks (because I am a sick adult lol I write slow ;-; )

Do you have any tips for someone who wants to get into graphic design?

Mmm I'll list a few tips I think they helped me to get through that path, in my case:

References are your best friends. Graphic Design is full of themes, there's lots of variety and topics. This can be a little overwhelming sometimes, so following design studios / content creators, saving references, and making moodboards helped me to get inspired when it came to any creative process. Also if such content come from different themes, saving things for future reference can save you time too.

There's always room for innovation. Don't get discouraged thinking "every idea has been designed already". I had a teacher that really gave me a hard time making me think that everything was invented by someone already, and that the best we could do was to get inspired by them by making cheap copies. Inspiration =/= copying. If you have an idea that looks similar to another one, try to add your point of view to it. Everyone sees the world in their own way, adding our personal touch is what makes the difference, no matter how small it is!!

Never stop learning. When it comes to Graphic Design, new trends appear every year. Design is about helping people in most ways, so it keeps adapting to time, culture, technology, and society as a whole. Rely on tutorials when you need them, search for plugins, tips, online courses, take notes, keep sketches in a notebook... This kind of help always comes handy, and will make your workflow easier.

I turn 30 next month so here’s what I learned in my 20s:

—don’t work for startups, they’re always one ‘innovative idea’ away adding ‘sell your kidneys on the black market’ to your job description.

—keeping a collection of basic OTC medicine on you will save your life one day. I recommend Advil, Imodium, and TUMS.

—those little single-use glasses cleaning wipes are 1000% worth the money

—overly self-depreciating jokes just make people uncomfortable, wean yourself off of them

—you can buy dehydrated mini marshmallows in bulk online and they’re a godsend for hot cocoa

—people don’t care if you have fidget toys on your desk they just want to play with them

—try to go to bed BEFORE the existential ennui kicks in
