Not a Peter Pettigrew fan—his betrayal is unforgivable. But it’s also understandable, at least to me. Peter, as a character, feels gray. If we go with the popular version of the Marauders, Peter was never fully a part of them. More like a tagalong, a lackey. So imagine being in a war where everyone is suspicious, everything is falling apart, and trust is rare. Peter, the one who never felt like he truly belonged, becomes even more isolated.

And then he’s suddenly expected to protect people he doesn’t even know if he can call true friends. Add the possibility that Voldemort was threatening his family—what choice does someone like Peter really have? It doesn't take a genius to guess what he’d choose.

Not everyone is Sirius Black. Sirius walked out of a toxic home and chose James. Found freedom in him. Loyalty. Purpose. He escaped Azkaban not for revenge, but for Harry. But how many people are Sirius Black? It was a choice that came as second to sirius but for Peter it wasn't, his entire world wasn't his best friends he might have family.

Peter made a coward’s choice. He broke everything. But he was human. And while that doesn’t excuse what he did, it makes his path clearer to understand. His memories with the Marauders, the laughter, the mischief—they still happened. He ruined it all, yes. But he was still a part of it once, even if he never believed he truly belonged.
