do you read all of the fics you post to your feed blog? do you have any favorites?
I can't really say I read any of them! I don't have much time for fanfiction these days, and when I do read SxF fic, usually I'm reading stuff that's focused on Fiona Frost. For fic recommendations I always recommend looking through my AO3 bookmarks; you can search through those like you would any fic on AO3 (filter by fandom, character, ship, etc) and I do mark the ones I think are genuinely standout as "Rec."

please tell me I have some writing studies followers who will find this as funny as I do
#okay the CONTEXT is that i'm currently drafting some stuff for my honors thesis which is about plagiarism#and one specific form of plagiarism is patchwriting which basically means#“changing it enough to avoid plagiarism detection software but not truly rephrasing it in your own words”#there's a more specific definition but generally speaking it's problematic less cuz of ethical issues#and more because it shows a student may not fully grasp what the source they're citing is saying#anyway. the reason why this is funny is cuz rebecca moore howard COINED THE TERM#it's okay tho she'd love and appreciate me and recognize that patchwriting can be an important developmental milestone#she's LITERALLY my mom#rambles#(also to be clear the reason why i don't want a more wordy description - or just a quote - is cuz this is for research not the report)#(part of a survey I want to conduct. so i can't assume that the people taking the survey will know what it is.)#(and i don't want to bore them. cuz even though i'm Literally surveying professors. they still might get bored.)#also to be clear part of the humor of this is that this comment is for my advisor#who i probably wouldnt say this to if not for the fact that she found the least formal annotation ive ever done in an annotated bibliograph#fucking HILARIOUS

sad reality of the fanfic-to-published work economy is that the weirdest people are willing to do it. that's why there's now hundreds of shitty no plot cishet hate-to-love enemies-to-lovers books that are ex reylo fanfic. and it's not even good. that's because the people who wrote book-quality steve/bucky and kirk/spock fic are too normal to think to themselves "i should get this porn published". they're too busy working in local government offices

I think when you view people who “pass” as cishet as not being oppressed you’re betraying the fact that you don’t view the things they do to us psychologically as part of our oppression for some reason
#you also have to acknowledge that part of oppression against queer people is things they Also do to themselves#cishet people police each other's gender. cishet people impose amatonormativity#cishet people distance each each other from each other based on arbitrary standards and that distance causes hurt#cishet people don't let each other do (x) and force each other to do (y)#and bc there are people who pass as cishet but Aren't they get caught in the crossfire#but also cishet people are MEANT to be in that crossfire. they are MEANT to undergo that oppression#and it DOES hurt them.

#i can splurge $15 for fast food or get a $15 all you can eat sushi lunch at the local place down the street#and with tip and miso soup it costs $20#and is infinitely more tasty#this isn't even theoretical btw there is a place down the street that does all you can eat sushi for $14.99#dinners is $23.99#and with soup/tax/tip it comes out to like $30#the nearby chinese place is like $15 for a combo deal#the cajun place. the pizza place (which is a (local) chain and arguably fast food but is so yummy). the ribeye sandwich from the brewery#etc. these are all about On Par w the cost of fast food and SO MUCH BETTER
